MOSHIACH IN THE PARSHA
In 5703 (1943), the Frierdiker Rebbe published the statement of
l’alter l’teshuvah l’alter l’geulah – declaring the ever-so-imminent
arrival of Moshiach. Simultaneously, he was instructing Chassidim
to establish more Mosdos and build new houses and centers of
Torah and Chesed. They were somewhat confused, wondering
about all his enthusiasm in building etc. What is the point of
investing in long-term projects if Moshiach is coming soon?
The Frierdiker Rebbe explained: The answer lies in the Torah, in
Parshas Bahaloscha. During the forty years in which the Yidden
traveled through the desert on the way to Eretz Yisroel, they made
many stops. Each time they stopped, by Hashem’s instructions,
they were to set up the Mishkan. When they would leave, the
Mishkan would be disassembled and carried with them until the
next stop, where it would be assembled once again. There were
times when they camped for very lengthy periods of time, such as
the nineteen years they camped in Kadeish. There were also times
when they camped for just one night. At each stop, the Mishkan
was assembled from scratch with all its keilim, and karbanos were
brought. The Yidden could have asked the same question that the
Chassidim proposed towards the Frierdiker Rebbe: Why should
עַל פִּי יְהוָה יַחֲנוּ וְעַל פִּי יְהוָה יִסָּעוּ" )במדבר ט, כ(

we bother to set up the whole Mishkan, a time-consuming and
difficult task, when in a few hours the sign may be given to travel
on. The Mishkan we just worked so hard to build will be taken
apart again! The answer is that setting up the Mishkan was a
commandment of Hashem. It therefore had to be performed fully
and properly, irrelevant of the time it will remain standing. We
do not analyze nor judge Hashem’s will. We only perform it in its
entirety.
This should also be our attitude towards the Geulah. We Yidden,
as ma’aminim b’nei ma’aminim, completely believe that Moshiach
is coming each day. At the same time, however, this should not
take away from our fulfilling Hashem’s will, right now, to the fullest
is to do what seems to be a long-term רצון extent, even when that
project. One has nothing to do with the other. We must continue
to do Hashem’s will with our full enthusiasm and commitment,
based on what we know to be Hashem’s will presently. We also
simultaneously remain firm and strong in our faith that Hashem
can and does make miracles and wonders, and will send Moshiach
right now.

On Shabbos Parshas Behaloscha 5748, the Rebbe explained the reason for Aharon's disappointment, elucidated in the first Rashi of this
week's Parsha. Aharon’s sole purpose, his avodah, was to serve in the Mishkan. Therefore, when the Mishkan was dedicated without his
involvement, he was truly disappointed.
From this the Rebbe derives a hora'ah in Avodas Hashem
that is very applicable to our times - the final days of
Golus. When a Yid sees other Yidden who are koching in
Moshiach and he is not involved, it should truly disappoint
him! The Yid should do everything in his ability to join
their effort and bring Moshiach now!
Below, we present the Rebbe's corrections on this part of
the Sicha. The final text reads as follows:
ולכן, היתכן שכאשר כו"כ מישראל עוסקים בחנוכת והכנת בית המקדש
השלישי, יעמוד מישהו מן הצד ולא יהי' עמהם בחנוכה, לא הוא ולא שבטו )ב"ב,
תלמידיו וכו'(?! – אלא ודאי ישתדל גם הוא להשתתף עמהם בחנוכה, לקרב ולזרז
את חנוכת ביהמ"ק השלישי שיבנה במהרה בימיו ובימינו
It is therefore inconceivable that when many Yidden are involved in
dedicating and preparing the Beis Hamikdash Hashlishi for someone
to stand on the side and not join the dedication. Not him, nor his Shevet
(family, Talmidim, etc. - ?!) Instead, he must surely make an effort to
join them in their preparations to hasten and accelerate the dedicating
of the Beis Hamikdash Hashlishi, which will be built speedily, in his
days, and in ours.

2. דאלאי גלות
In this Farbrengen the Rebbe spoke at length about the connection between Hashem and the Yidden - as a husband and
so to speak- the Yidden by lifting the mountain above their heads, - מאנס wife. This started by Har Sinai when Hashem was

Next, the Rebbe began to defend the Yidden from any complaints that Hashem may have against them, saying that anything wrong
which Hashem put into them. The Rebbe finished off by saying, “If so, than what complaints could יצר הרע a Yid does is because of the

In this part of the Sichah, the Rebbe shows us how, to the contrary - the Yidden are able to demand from Hashem whatever they
need because they are the wife of Hashem. The fact that they do not complain even about being sent into Golus is because they are

וויבאלד אז דער אויבערשטער איז דער בעל פון אידן
דארף ער זיי אלץ געבן "שארה כסותה ועונתה". און
וויבאלד אז דא רעדט זיך וועגן מלך מלכי המלכים
הקב"ה, איז פארשטאנדיק וואס ער דארף געבן צו זיין
מלכה!
ובפרט נאך אז זי איז נקיה און טהורה וכו'; ס'איז
מערניט וואס מצד דעם וואס "אשר הרעותי", וואס
דער אויבערשטער האט באשאפן א יצה"ר, א שאור
שבעיסה, דערפאר קען זיין די מעגלעכקייט אז א איד
זאל עובר זיין אויף היפך רצונו.
דו )דער אויבערשטער( האסטו טענות צו א אידן?!
דו ביסט דאך דער וואס איז שולדיק אין דעם – ווארום
דו האסט באשאפן דעם יצר הרע! ווי די גמרא זאגט
אז "ארבעה מתחרט עליהן הקב"ה שבראם . . יצה"ר".
"רצוננו לעשות רצונך ומי מעכב – שאור שבעיסה",
וואס דו האסט געמאכט דעם "שאור" און דאס
אריינגעשטעלט אין דער "עיסה".
איז וואס האסטו טענות?!
און דער ענין הנ"ל האט א קשר אויך צו דעם סיום
המסכת לויט דער גירסא אז דאס ענדיקט זיך מיט דעם
וואס ר' יוסף האט געזאגט "לא תיתני ענוה דאיכא
אנא". והביאור בזה:
עז זיינען ניטא קיין גרעסערע ענוים ווי אידן, ווי
כנסת ישראל –
ווארום לעולם האבן אידן געדארפט מאנען בזרוע
אז דער אויבעשטער זאל זיי געבן כיד המלך: ע"פ דין
קומט זיי אלץ, ווארום דער אויבערשטער האט זיי
)כביכול( מאנס געווען "כפה עליהם הר כגיגית", וואס
דעמולט "לא יוכל לשלחה גו'".
און נאכמער – אידן האבן די פולע רעכט מאנען: וואס
איז דאס פאר א גלות – וואס איז דאס פאר אן ענין אז
דער בעל איז הלך למדינת הים – וואס הייסט: בשעת
ס'איז געווען א חופה וקידושין ע"פ דת משה וישראל
צווישן די אשה, אידן, מיטן בעל, דער אויבעשטער,
און דערצו איז די אשה א נקי' א טהורה – איז היתכן
אז דער בעל איז הלך למדינת הים, היתכן אז ס'איז דא
א גלות?!!
און אפילו אויב ס'איז דא א חשש אז די אשה האט
עפעס געטאן – איז דאס אויך ניט איר שולד, נאר
שולדיק איז דער בעל, ווארום ער האט באשאפן דעם
יצר הרע, און ער איז אויף דעם מתחרט בכל יום!
היינט וואס בארעכטיגט אים )דעם בעל – דעם
אויבערשטן( צו פירן זיך אזוי, אז ער גייט אוועק
למדינת הים, ער שיקט אידן אין גלות?!
נאר וויבאלד אז אידן זיינען ענוים, וואס גרעסערע
ענוים קענען ניט זיין – דערפאר מאנען זייד אס ניט!
אבער וויפל איז דער שיעור זיין אן עניו – גיב א
קלאפ אין טיש און זאג אז מ'זאל ברענגען משיח תיכף

The Rebbe once said
that when Moshiach
will come he will read
from Moshiach's Sefer
Torah, which was
completed in 5730.
On 10 Teves 5750 an individual came
to the Rebbe requesting a blessings for
himself and his family. He continued adding
more and more requests until the Rebbe told
him:
Perhaps you should request that Moshiach
should come?
The man answered: Im Yirtzeh Hashem.
The Rebbe commented: Hashem wants it; it’s
up to the Yidden to want it as well.
