Working Title: Ur music magazine
I decided to use Ur Music as my title because I want my product to represent teen and
young adults’ music taste. By having the title called ‘Ur Music’ it makes the audience feel
like they’re in charge of the music the magazine will advertise.
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Product’s Purpose:
my products purpose is to inform and to entertain my audience about the music culture
both past and present styles. I will achieve this by researching current and past
inspirations in the music industry and showing them new and exciting content and tributes.
What is the product’s purpose (entertain/educate etc.) and how will you achieve this?
Genre:
The genre will be mainly alternative music styles, this is because I like all the sub genres
that fall underneath this label and think that I could promote this type of music the best.
The product itself is a music magazine, which will inform my audience about a variety of
different artists, when certain bands/artists have concerts lined up in and out of the country
and the latest music culture. My magazine will take inspiration from existing ones like
kerrang, indie magazine and vibe magazine.
What sort of product is it
Content
My product is a magazine based on music industry. It will have information about unknown artists,
local artists, how to see them live, what type of music is popular and updates on general music
culture. I might include tour dates in a poster style and might also use a set colour scheme
throughout the magazine.
What is your product about? Discuss what you would put in it (be specific). Does it have a story? If
so, discuss it here
Audience:
I think that my audience will be late teensto young adults(15 to 24), this is because people
around this age like to listen to alternative music. I think both men and woman equally like
alternative music because the culture of this styled music represents many things for both
genders. I think my audience would be mainly be fans of the band featured on the cover,
making them emulators because fans normally feel the need to be like the person they
idolise. I think that my audience will mainly come from 2nd class familiesbecause people
1st class familiesmight think they are too high up in the chain to support this type of
magazine.
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc
Why would your project appeal to this person?

Legal & Ethical Considerations:
I think that my magazine could be offensive to younger viewers, especially if the magazine
were to have a punk section, this is because the punk genre is related to the rebellion in the
mid 70s and can be very offensive to some people. I don’t think that I will put an age
restriction on the magazine but I’ll make it clear that it may contain provocative content for
younger people. I think that my magazine will be different to other magazinesbecause I
don’t think that any other magazine will cover music events or have exclusive information,
like I plan to have.
Think about any offensive material you will include?
Will you restrict younger people using/accessing it?
Will it offend any social groups/religions/ethnicities?
How will you ensure you do not offend anyone?
Are you using characters/names/logos of existing products/IPs?
Will you product be sufficiently different from existing products to not get sued for copyright
infringement?
