This proposal is for an alternative music magazine called "Alt Nation". The magazine aims to both entertain and educate readers about alternative music bands that do not receive much mainstream attention. It will feature an in-depth interview with the band All Time Low as the focus of the first issue. The target audience is middle class 12-15 year olds of any gender who will find the magazine's balanced perspective on success and benefit to fans appealing. No offensive or inappropriate content is included that could restrict younger readers or violate copyright. Feedback will be solicited to ensure no social or religious groups are offended by the magazine.

Working Title:
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
Alternative Nation (Alt Nation)
Product’s Purpose:
What is the product’s purpose (entertain/educate etc.) and how will you
achieve this?
This magazine is to entertain and to educate. It shows bands and different kinds
of music, in an entertaining light, like the humour in the interviews, as well as the
information that informs and educates the audience. This magazine shows
alternative music and bands, as they don’t have a huge platform in the music
industry. Most alternative bands are self-made, so I thought it would educate
people who may not listen to it often about different types of music.
Genre:
What sort of product is it
It is a music magazine.
Content
What is your product about? Discuss what you would put in it (be specific).
Does it have a story? If so, discuss it here
My magazine is about different bands in alternative music. There is a general
interview with all time low, as they are the focus of the magazines issue this time
round. It is not a story, but the interview is be interesting to listen to as it has
honest, real and personal information in it.
Audience:
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status,
psychographic etc
Why would your project appeal to this person?
My audience is 12-15 year olds, of either gender, as this magazine does not have
one certain gender audience. They are of middle class, as middle class people will
have the time and money to spend on this magazine. People of other classes may
be a lot busier. The psychographic audience for this magazine is balanced. This is
because I want them to respond to the concepts of success and it benefits
mankind, especially the band itself. It also benefits the fans of this band and
makes them happy.

Legal & Ethical Considerations:
Think about any offensive material you will include?
Will you restrict younger people using/accessing it?
Will it offend any social groups/religions/ethnicities?
How will you ensure you do not offend anyone?
Are you using characters/names/logos of existing products/IPs?
Will you product be sufficiently different from existing products to not get
sued for copyright infringement?
Nothing that I have written in this magazine is offensive, or can be conveyed as
offensive to anyone, as it is just information of a band and what a band has said. I
will not restrict younger people from seeing this, as there is no swearing, no crude
language that you could deem inappropriate to anyone, so if someone doesn’t
want their children to look at the magazine that will be the parents decision. It will
not offend any groups of people as far as I know, as nothing has been said in the
magazine that has anything to do with social groups, religion or different
ethnicities at all, especially not anything offensive. I will ensure I definitely don’t
offend anyone by asking around and getting different people to tell me if this
magazine offends them and asking why if they say yes, like a survey. I have no
copied from any other magazines, so I will be able to avoid copyright infringement
at all costs.
