2. The audience for my media product is 16-30 year olds who like alternative indie music genre. I've used a lot of popular, well
known and even old bands in my media product and I've mentioned some of those bands in my sublines on my front cover so it
attracts and intrigues a wider range of fans into buying my product because they’re fans of their music and are interested to see
what has been written about them in my media product. My product might also attract the older generations who still listen to
some of the old bands i've featured such as Weezer, Oasis and Red Hot Chili Peppers because they are older bands who have
been around for years so many people would have heard them at least a few times and can easily recognise them. They have
also had more years to gather a greater and more dedicated fan base so avid fans of theres will be willing to buy my product.
On the other hand my product also stands out to young adults/ late teens because in my features and regulars it has things
such as ‘Monthly gig guide’, ‘Alternative indie songs you need to listen to’ and ‘Where alternative indie began’ which helps
young people who are new to the alternative indie culture and want to explore it and start going to gigs and concerts but need
help and advice.
My product might reach out to more males than females because I have featured a female on my front cover to attract ‘male
gaze’, however my double page spread has a male featured on it so that might help gather more ‘female gaze’ to equal my
product to stand out to all genders and not aim it at a particular one. The colours scheme of my magazine is mainly black, white
and purple which all appeal to both
genders and aren't stereotyped to a
certain gender so this might also help
my product to stand out to everyone
because it doesn't lean towards either
gender.
Overall I think my media product
doesn't lean towards a particular
gender and stands out to a target
audinece of 16-30 year olds.
