1. Who would be the audience for your media product?
You should have a drawing of your target audience member and an explanation of what kinds of taste they
might have- where they would shop, what music they would listen to, what their favourite Tv programme
would be, etc.
make sure you have taken a photo of it, post it on the blog and write a few notes on why they would buy
your magazine.
2. Although ‘indie’ music is mostly targeted towards males as most indie
artists are male bands females have a large role in the popularization of
artists such as The kooks’ video ‘Naïve’. That audience are mostly young
Females and young adult males. So my target
audience reflected this. I chose to have a more female
targeted audience as most music magazines are
aimed at males.
3. My target audience is 18-28 year olds. The type of people I am
aiming at are those who are deeply intrested in emerging artists
and the alternative sound of new music. With a prodominance
on british music, as the subcultures begin to rise these young
people follow it with egre eyes and I believe my magazine will
help them to explore other artists they are yet to hear of and
learn more about those they have. The future for this generation
is translated well through music and fashion so the attention
payed to these subjects will be embraced by my audience. I
would vary the type of indie music the magazine focused on so
that there is always an audience. The styling would be changed
to suit the artist. My magazine will have a fairly even split of
male to female as the cover I have created in this work is aimed
more towards females. However I would provide multiple covers
as the other two which can be seen in my contents page are clear
to be more male intended. I believe that by doing this it will
allow for a larger target audience, as people care less about
gender barriers it isnt as big of an issue, but still most music
magazines are male focused whereas fashion magazines are
focused at females. It clear that everyone has a passion for music
and indie is the most recognisable for influcing both genders to
express themselves.
I have chosen this target audience as I believe I understand them and what they like and look for in music. Im aware that
they have alternative views to older generations and will therefore be wanting something different in their magazines.
