Water Potential

Water potential is a physical property of water that determines the direction of water flow. It is measured in bars and is equal to the sum of osmotic potential and pressure potential. Osmotic potential depends on solute concentration and temperature, and is negative for solutions. Water always moves from areas of high water potential to low water potential.
