Salmonellosis is an illness caused by Salmonella bacteria, which was discovered by American scientist Daniel E. Salmon. Salmonella bacteria are commonly found in soil, water, and raw foods, as well as in the feces of some animals like reptiles. When humans are infected, Salmonella usually affects the gastrointestinal system, causing symptoms like nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. There are over 2,400 identified types of Salmonella bacteria. Basic steps to combat Salmonellosis include washing hands, drinking water, and sleeping.
