2. What is Down syndrome?
It is a condition in wich a person is born with an extra cromosome. That means
that if you have Down syndrome, you have more genetic information than the
other people.Is a chronic,non infectious disease and sporadic.
Why is it called Down syndrome ?
Down syndrome was first studied and described by a doctor named John Langdon
Down.
3. WHAT IS A CROMOSOME ?
CROMOSOME: is a package of DNA wich contains
genetic information. It is located in the nucleus of the
cell. We have 46 cromosomes (23 couples) in each
cell, but if you have one more in the 21 couple, it
means that you have Down síndrome. This extra
cromosome develops mentally and physically features.
4. What is the cause of Down syndrome?
We have 23 couple of cromosomes; in the couple 21 the people who
has “Down” instead of having 2 cromosomes they have 3.
The scientifics don’t know why this happens and there is no way to
prevent it.

Kids with Down syndrome tend to share certain phisycal features:

2. Small ears
3. Proturding tongue
4. A line in the hand that we doesn’t have

4. Hip problems and risk of dislocation
5. Teeth that appear later than normal and in a location that may cause
problems with chewing
6. Underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism)
