LSC VOLLEYBALL
The Lone Star Conference volleyball season is underway with all 11 teams taking part in tournament play on the opening
weekend. Angelo State, Tarleton State and West Texas A&M are each 4-0 after one week.
LSC volleyball teams are 22-22 overall this season. The squads are currently 8-10 combined versus Rocky Mountain
Athletic Conference teams, and 1-2 against the Heartland Conference, which are the other leagues in the NCAA South
Central Region.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
OFFENSIVE
Hailey Roberts, Tarleton State University, SR, Cedar Park, Texas, Cedar Park HS
Roberts was phenomenal in the opening weekend of her senior season as the Cedar Park native led the TexAnns to four
consecutive sweeps at the 2017 TexAnn Invitational, including straight-set wins over No. 23 Rockhurst and No. 18
Central Oklahoma. Roberts boasted a double-double performance in each of the two AVCA Top-25 matches with 17 kills
and 12 digs against Rockhurst and 12 kills and 11 digs against Central Oklahoma. For the weekend, Roberts landed 53
kills, which is tops in the Lone Star Conference, and scored 63.0 points. She also dished out three assists and landed five
service aces on a .930 serving percentage. The senior also shined on the defensive end with 37 digs in 12 sets and seven
blocks. She was named the Co-MVP of the 2017 TexAnn Invitational.
DEFENSIVE
Crystal Thomas, West Texas A&M University, SR, San Antonio, Texas, Roosevelt
Thomas had a monster weekend for the Lady Buffs as the senior led WT to wins over Southwestern Oklahoma, Colorado
State-Pueblo, Adams State and St. Mary's during the BritKare Lady Buff Classic. The San Antonio native averaged 1.62
blocks per set with 21 total blocks to help hold opponents to a .123 hitting percentage. Thomas posted a double-double
with a league-high 10 blocks against Adams State in a four-set victory to go along with 11 kills while hitting .346. She
recorded 26 kills on 58 swings with seven attack errors to hit .328 on the weekend to go along with five service aces and
eight digs.
SETTER
Selena Batiste, West Texas A&M University, SO, Portland, Oregon, Central Catholic
Batiste had a breakout weekend during the BritKare Lady Buff Classic as the sophomore guided the Lady Buffs to wins
over Southwestern Oklahoma, Colorado State-Pueblo, Adams State and St. Mary’s with a .311 team hitting percentage.
2. The Portland native was named the MVP of the BritKare Lady Buff Classic as she dished out a tournament-high 150
assists to average 11.54 per set to go along with eight kills, seven service aces and 26 digs. Batiste registered 64 assists
on Day 1 in wins over SWOSU and CSUP before a 50 assist performance against Adams State in WT's only non-sweep
victory of the weekend before 36 assists in the tournament finale against St. Mary's.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Brianna Sotello, Angelo State University, was selected to the Kathleen Brasfield Invitational all-tournament team as
the MVP, dominated on the court for the Belles offense this past week. The senior leader turned in 49 kills averaging her
a solid 4.08 kills per set for the week. Her performance this weekend also included season high 17 kills against Colorado
Christian and a double-double, 10 kills and 11 digs, in the following match that day against New Mexico Highlands.
During the CCU match, she tallied an outstanding .571 clip. She is now sporting a .374 attack percentage after four
matches. Sotello also made major contributions to the defense as the San Antonio native led the team with a pair of solo
blocks and was second with 32 digs for a 2.67 dig per set average.
Erin Clark, West Texas A&M University, had a breakout weekend for the Lady Buffs during her first four matches in
Maroon & White in wins over Southwestern Oklahoma State, Colorado State-Pueblo, Adams State and St. Mary's during
the BritKare Lady Buff Classic. The freshman registered 52 kills on 123 swings with 14 attack errors to hit .309 on the
weekend to average 4.00 kills per set. Clark was named to the BritKare Lady Buff Classic All-Tournament team for her
efforts on the court, tallying five service aces with 26 digs and three total blocks. Clark picked up a pair of Pepsi Player of
the Game honors this past weekend including a 22 kill performance against Adams State on Saturday afternoon as the
Scottsdale native hit .281 in the match with 10 digs for her first career double-double.
Paige Dixon, Cameron University, led Cameron on the attack through their first four games, averaging 3.18 kills per set
in 17 sets played. Her 54 total kills included back-to-back 15-plus kill matches, where she had 17 in the win over
Southern Arkansas and 16 against Dallas Baptist. Against SAU, Dixon also hit .323 on 31 attacks. The junior also had 10
total blocks with four in each of the matches against SAU and DBU.
Jaslyn Wacker, Texas A&M University-Commerce put on a hitting clinic in the Lions' two wins last week. She recorded
12 kills against both Southwest Baptist and Maryville, recording a hitting percentage of .857 against MU. Over her four
games, she hit .509 with a total of 34 kills, leading the team in hitting percentage, kills and points. She also had eight
blocks and 10 digs on the defensive end.
Lexi Wick, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, led the team with 48 total blocks with a .392 clip. Wick also added two
service aces to her stat line. In a weekend where the Javelinas went 3-1, Wick's top performance at the ASU Invitational
was against Colorado Christian where she finished with a .485 hitting percentage on 19 kills to lead the team, and
chipped in three blocks and two service aces for 21 total points.
Sarai Migao, Western New Mexico, made her collegiate debut in style in leading the Lady Mustangs with 28 kills. She
also added seven blocks. Migao had nine kills against No. 13 Wayne State. She nearly helped lead the Lady Mustangs to
a win against Regis in posting eight kills as they went five sets with the Rangers.
3. Micheala Sifuentes, Angelo State University, who was selected to the Kathleen Brasfield Invitational all- tournament
team, anchored the ASU defense over the course of four matches. The junior libero dug 70 balls for an average of 5.83
digs per set and helped the team hold its opposition to a .077 attack percentage. This included a career high 21 digs
against New Mexico Highlands and a career high four service aces in a match against Colorado Christian earlier that day.
Offensively, she checked in at second on the team with five total service aces for the week.
Lacie Jessup, Texas A&M University-Commerce, had 68 digs over four contests for the Lions last week, averaging
nearly 5.7 digs per set. She recorded 29 digs in the Lions' loss to No. 18 Central Oklahoma and had double-digit digs in all
four games for A&M-Commerce and had a reception percentage of .940. She also scored seven points on the offensive
end, recording six aces and one kill.
Ashley Mataele, Western New Mexico, picked up where she left off last season as she kept the back row going with a
team-best 65 digs, as she went for double-digits in three matches, going for over 20 twice with a high of 24 against
Regis.
Brittnee Altic, Cameron University, led the Aggies through the first weekend of play with 74 digs through 17 sets. Her
two best games came on Saturday, where she had 26 against Dallas Baptist and 31 against Ouachita Baptist. Altic also
recorded four service aces and only had three receiving errors in the four matches during the South Central Classic. The
junior from Cache, Okla. ranks seventh in the Lone Star Conference in digs per set.
Adriana Darthuy, Tarleton State University, made herself known to the Tarleton faithful in her debut weekend for the
TexAnns as the sophomore from France boasted 35 digs and three blocks in 12 sets, including an 18-dig performance
against No. 23 Rockhurst Friday night. Darthuy, who was named to the All-Tournament team, helped Tarleton open the
season with four consecutive sweeps for the first time in program history, including straight-set victories over AVCA No.
23 Rockhurst and No. 18 Central Oklahoma. Darthuy also boasted a .982 serve-receive percentage in four matches and
34 kills, including 13 against Central Oklahoma. Darthuy helped anchor the Tarleton defense that held its opponents to a
.065 hitting percentage for the weekend, including keeping Maryville (-.013) and Southwest Baptist (-.012) out of the
positive percentages.
Haley Hutchinson, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, played a big role in the Javelinas holding their opponents to a .099
attack percentage this weekend. The Georgetown native paced the team with 13 total blocks and accounted for six digs
this weekend. Her 13 total blocks is tied for fourth best in the LSC.
Casey Klobedans, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, S was just short of 200 assists this weekend, but leads the entire
LSC with 167 helpers after the opening weekend. Her 9.82 assists per set directed the Javelinas to a .249 hitting
percentage. She contributed to the team’s success by garnering 48 digs, nine kills, nine blocks, and three aces.
Jordyn Keamo, Tarleton State University, got her senior season started in a big way as the defending LSC Setter of the
Year led Tarleton to four consecutive sweeps to open the first, which is a Tarleton Volleyball record, including straight-
set wins over No. 23 Rockhurst and No. 18 Central Oklahoma. Keamo dished out 117 assists in 12 sets for an average of
9.75 assists per set. She was also a threat offensively and defensively for Tarleton as the senior from Hawaii landed 14
kills, had seven aces, 32 digs and six blocks. She saved her best performances of the weekend for the biggest moments
as Keamo dished out 34 assists against No. 23 Rockhurst and 39 against No. 18 Central Oklahoma. She recorded her first
double-double of the season with 39 assists and 13 digs against UCO Saturday night. Keamo was named the Co-MVP of
the TexAnn Invitational.
Meghan Parker, Angelo State University, played a major role in the Belles offense attack in this past week's Kathleen
Brasfield Tournament. The returning 2016 AVCA Freshman of the Year came away from the four-match weekend with
96 total assists and an average of 8.00 assists per set running a 6-2 offense. The sophomore also recorded a career high
seven service aces in the Belles match up with New Mexico Highlands and 10 overall for the week.
Gabriela Rosa, Texas A&M University-Commerce, led A&M-Commerce with 83 assists over four games, including
three games with more than 20 assists. She averaged nearly seven assists per set and had an assist percentage of .838.
She also had 22 digs, one kill and one ace.
4. Brook Conley, Cameron University, led the Aggies at the setter position by totaling 116 assists in 17 sets played. The
senior's biggest match came in the five set battle with Dallas Baptist, where she recorded 52 helpers, the most by an
Aggie since 2014. She followed that up with 43 assists in the five set match against Ouachita Baptist, which immediately
followed the DBU match. Conley also recorded 10 kills on 30 attacks and had eight service aces. On defense, she totaled
38 digs, including 19 against OBU, and six total blocks.
Cristal Carrizoza, Western New Mexico, paced the offense with 75 assists, going for at least 15 in all four matches. She
dished out a high of 26 versus Regis as WNMU nearly won a five-set battle. Carrizoza had her three kills during the week
in that same match.

Angelo State
No. 6 Angelo State went undefeated this past week sweeping each of its four opponents. With the home wins, the Belles
also extended its home win streak to 24 consecutive home victories as well as jumped two spots in the AVCA rankings to
No. 6. This marks the highest Angelo State has ever been ranked in program history. The Belles now head to the
Colorado Premier Tournament in Denver where they will face Florida Sothern and Metro State. Along the road to
Denver, ASU will make a brief stop in Alamosa to take on Adams State.
Cameron
The Cameron University volleyball team kicked of the Tatiana Booth era with a 1-3 record at the South Central Classic.
After falling in their first match to Southern Nazarene, 3-0, the Aggies bounced back, beating Southern Arkansas 3-1 and
then battled in two tightly contested matches the next day, falling to Dallas Baptist and Ouachita Baptist three sets to
two. Brook Conley led CU with 116 assists, 52 of which came against DBU, while Paige Dixon was tops on the team with
54 kills. On the defensive side of things, Brittnee Altic had a team high 74 digs, while Ashleigh McFatridge had 14 total
blocks and Brady Carr had 13. The Aggies will play Henderson State and East Central on Friday, Sep. 8.
Eastern New Mexico
0-4 last week.
Midwestern State
2-2 last week.
Tarleton State
No. 25 Tarleton was dominant in its season debut as the TexAnns swept their way through the TexAnn Invitational,
including sweeps of No. 23 Rockhurst and No. 18 Central Oklahoma. In addition to it being Tarleton's first games ever as
a nationally-ranked program, the TexAnns also made program history by starting the season with four consecutive
sweeps.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The Lions went 2-2 last week at the TexAnn Invitational. They swept both Southwest Baptist and Maryville and lost in
straight sets to No. 18 Central Oklahoma and No. 23 Rockhurst. The Lions travel to Colorado for four games this
weekend.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
3-1 last week.
5. Texas Woman’s
he Pioneers faced a pair of ranked teams to open the season in No. 24 Northern State and No. 19 Colorado School of
Mines at the Oredigger Classic hosted by Mines. TWU lost both contests, 3-0, and dropped a 3-0 decision to Colorado
Mesa and a 3-1 match loss to Regis.
UT Permian Basin
UT Permian Basin volleyball opened up its first week of action by going 2-2, winning matches over Southwestern
Oklahoma State and Colorado State - Pueblo with losses to Adams State and St. Mary's. Rachel Dixon led the Falcons
with 33 kills on the weekend, averaging 2.67 per set, Sarah Vasquez ranks fourth in the conference with 4.87 digs/set
after the first week, and Kiera Granado averaged 8.6 assists through four matches.
West Texas A&M
The Lady Buffs started off the 2017 season on a high note last weekend as they topped Southwestern Oklahoma State,
Colorado State-Pueblo, Adams State and St. Mary's during the BritKare Lady Buff Classic in Canyon. WT hit .311 as a
team with 174 kills on 412 swings with 46 attack errors to go along with 165 assists, 33 service aces, 174 digs and 36
total blocks. Selena Batiste was named the BritKare Lady Buff Classic Tournament MVP while freshman outside Erin
Clark was also named to the All-Tournament Team. The Lady Buffs head to Saint Leo, Florida this weekend to take part
in the Saint Leo Classic with matchups scheduled against Nova Southeastern, #21 Saint Leo, Truman State and
Montevallo.
Western New Mexico
