LSC SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The six-team field is set for this week’s Lone Star Conference Softball Championship, which will be played over
two days at Schaeffer Park on the campus of West Texas A&M in Canyon, Texas, starting on Friday, April 29.
WT, Texas Woman’s, Cameron, Texas A&M-Commerce, Angelo State, and Midwestern State qualified for the
single-elimination event.
The Lady Buffs are the top seed and host after winning the LSC Championship for the third straight year and
fourth time overall with a 30-2 LSC record. TWU is No. 2 followed by CU, A&M-C, ASU and MSU.
Tournament play will begin on Friday, April 29, with four games scheduled to be played at 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m.,
4 p.m., and 6:30 p.m.
The tournament championship will be decided on Saturday, April 30, at 2 p.m.
All seven games will be streamed live free of charge through the LSC’s GameCentral portal (http://portal.
stretchinternet.com/lonestar). In addition to supporting desktop and laptop computers, GameCentral’s
responsive design will support mobile devices as well (iPad, iPhones, Android).
LSC SOFTBALL
LSC softball teams are 279-207 overall this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the group is currently 63-
40 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 30-13 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
HITTER
Ashley Hardin, West Texas A&M University, SO, Outfielder, Flower Mound, Texas, Flower Mound Marcus HS
Hardin had another monster week for the LSC Champion Lady Buffs as the sophomore hit .368 with three
doubles, a triple and a home run to drive in seven RBI for a slugging percentage of .789. The Flower Mound
native was also huge defensively as she registered nine putouts and two huge assists including gunning down
the tying run at the dish in Saturday’s finale at Texas Woman’s for the 8-7 win and the series sweep.
PITCHER
Brandy Marlett, Angelo State University, SO, Pitcher, Henderson, Nev., Rancho HS
Marlett was a force in the circle in four appearances going 3-1 and clinched a series win over Cameron. The
sophomore threw two complete games with one shutout. The Henderson, Nevada native struck out 26 total
batters and held teams to a .193 average. She only allowed eight total runs in 25.1 innings pitched.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Madison Greenwell, Angelo State University, led the Rambelles to a 5-1 record last week and a pivotal 3-1
LSC series win over Cameron. The sophomore hit .550 with 11 hits. She hit two triples with the bases loaded
and tallied nine RBIs while also scoring runs. The Flower Mound native led ASU with a .750 slugging percentage.
Avery Mullendore, Tarleton State University, was an offensive star for Tarleton last weekend as she led the
TexAnns to a series victory over Eastern New Mexico in Stephenville. Mullendore hit .538 after going 7-for-13
with five runs scored and six RBIs. She was 3-for-3 in Friday’s 14-0 win while posting two hits in each game
of Saturday’s doubleheader finale. In addition to her work at the dish, she filled in for the injured starter at
shortstop and boasted a flawless 1.000 fielding percentage on 15 chances.
Katie Ripple, Eastern New Mexico University, hit safely in three out of four games against Tarleton State last
weekend. The junior had two multiple-hit games, which included a two for three outing with three runs scored,
a homer and two runs batted in, during ENMU’s first road win over the TexAnns since the 2006 season. Over
the weekend, Ripple hit .500 with runners in scoring position, and in critical two-out situations.
Baylee Voigt, Midwestern State University, clinched Midwestern State a spot in the Lone Star Conference
Tournament Friday evening, lifting the Mustangs to a postseason bid with a three-run walk-off home run in a
5-4 game two victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville at Mustangs Park. Voigt registered hits in all four games for
a .462 batting average and six total hits on the weekend. The Wichita Falls native recorded a pair of doubles
and home runs in 13 at bats for a 1.077 slugging percentage while driving in a team-high seven RBI. Voigt
finished 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Friday’s second game, matching a career-best four RBI. She also
recorded another two-hit outing with two RBI in game one Saturday with a solo shot to left field in the sixth
inning in MSU’s 9-2 win over the Javelinas to claim the series. On the season, Voigt is batting .321 with 53 hits,
42 RBI, 28 runs, 12 doubles and 10 home runs.
Erin Knox, Midwestern State University, pitched six scoreless innings while finishing just one strikeout shy of
her career high with six to help Midwestern State take the series over Texas A&M-Kingsville in a 9-2 win over
the Javelinas in game one Saturday. Knox allowed six hits, one earned run and two walks in a complete game
effort. She also led the Mustangs at the plate on the weekend with a .545 batting average and six hits while
contributing five RBI. She leads MSU on the season with a 4.35 ERA with 11 complete games in 103.0 innings
of work.
Tori Bayer, West Texas A&M University, continued to roll this past week as the senior right hander went 2-0 in
the circle with a 1.91 ERA while registering her 10th save of the season which leads the nation. The Floresville,
Texas native picked up a pair of wins with a save this weekend in Denton as she allowed three runs (two earned)
on five hits with seven walks and seven strikeouts in her 7.1 innings of relief work.
Haley Freyman, Tarleton State University, continued the dominance of her sophomore season as she won
her 23rd game of the season after going 2-0 on the weekend with 15.1 innings of work and 10 strikeouts.

Kiana Zerr, Eastern New Mexico University, tossed
three complete games over the weekend for the
Eastern New Mexico University softball team. She
kept Eastern either in the lead or tied as late as the
fifth inning in all three starts. On Saturday, her win
in the season finale snapped a 13-game skid against
Tarleton State and was the first road win in the series
since the 2006 season. Zerr has been the pitcher of
record in each of ENMU’s last four wins.

Eastern New Mexico
On Saturday, the Eastern New Mexico University
softball team snapped a 13-game skid in the series
against Tarleton State, and notched their first road
win over the TexAnns since the 2006 season. The
victory also marked the fourth time ENMU had
defeated TSU on the road. In the process, senior
catcher Kyra Sirag matched career-leader Alex Mayo
Otis, with 210 games played in an ENMU softball
uniform. Kiana Zerr pitched for 18 of the weekend’s
22 innings. The sophomore is the pitcher of record in
each of the Greyhounds last four victories. Although
Eastern jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the finale, the
TexAnns managed to bring the game-tying run to
the plate in the bottom of the seventh inning. Zerr
induced back-to-back infield fly balls to hold on for
a 9-7 win. Tarleton State narrowly edged Eastern 3-2
in the series opener. The game ended on a two-out
walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh. The
TexAnns won the second an third games of the series
by scores of 14-0 and 10-2. Eastern held a 2-0 lead
entering the bottom of the fifth inning of the third
game. Over the final eight games of the season, Katie
Ripple batted a team-high .450 with an .800 slugging
percentage. Seniors Morgan Green and Kyra Sirag
both hit safely in their final career at bats, while
Marleyna Piñon had a single in the final game as well.
In addition to the games-played record, Sirag finished
tied for fourth in games started (198), fifth in at bats
(623), fourth in runs scored (119), fourth in hits (222),
tied for seventh in doubles (35), tied for seventh in
triples (7), tied for ninth in homers (14), seventh in
RBIs (111), fourth in total bases (313), and fourth in
runners caught stealing (27)
Midwestern State
Midwestern State claimed its third Lone Star
Conference series win last weekend to wrap up the
regular season at 29-27 with a 14-18 mark in the
LSC. The Mustangs took three of four games from
Texas A&M-Kingsville to clinch the sixth and final
spot in next weekend’s LSC Tournament. MSU swept
the Javelinas in a Friday doubleheader to earn a
postseason bid as junior designated hitter Baylee
Voigt blasted a three-run walk-off home run over the
center field wall to propel the Mustangs to a 5-4 win
in game two. MSU will face No. 3 seed Cameron in the
first round of the LSC Tournament Friday at 11 a.m. at
West Texas A&M’s Schaeffer Park in Canyon.
Tarleton State
Tarleton took three of four in the regular season
finale against Eastern New Mexico and recognized
their five seniors – Melody Mayse, Katelyn Conlee,
Lauren Powers, Rebeka Allen, and Taylor Fitzgerald –
following the completion of the series.

Texas Woman’s
TWU closed out the regular season with a 31-21
overall record and 19-13 Lone Star Conference
record. The Pioneers will be the two seed in the
2016 LSC Championship Tournament for the second
straight season. Senior Tealey Farquhar led the Lone
Star Conference in batting average (.464), runs (65)
and hits (84) and second in stolen bases (42). Senior
Laura Mabary also finished with a .400 batting
average and a team-best 13 doubles and six triples.
Junior Nicole Nordie led the team with 49 RBI and five
home runs. Junior Tori Bice led the pitching staff with
a 3.45 ERA, 17-9 record and 93 strikeouts.
West Texas A&M
The top ranked Lady Buffs ran their win streak to
14 games this past weekend as they swept past the
rival Pioneers of Texas Woman’s to move to 50-2
with a 30-2 mark in LSC play heading into the LSC
Tournament this weekend in Canyon. WT finishes
the regular season with an overall record of 50-2
to mark the second time in program history (2014,
50-4) that WT has reached the 50-win plateau in
the regular season while setting a new LSC mark for
conference wins in a season with 30, the Pioneers fall
to 31-21 (19-13 LSC) and will be the second seed in
next weekend’s LSC Tournament. The Lady Buffs will
now turn their attention to the defense of their Lone
Star Conference Tournament Championship next
weekend as they host the 2016 LSC Championships
at Schaeffer Park in Canyon. WT will have a bye in
the Quarterfinal round and face-off with the Texas
A&M-Commerce/Angelo State winner on Friday night
at 6:30 p.m. with the LSC Title game taking place on
Saturday at 2 p.m.
