The document discusses various communication and advertising methods, including their strengths and weaknesses. It provides codes and guidelines for compliant and ethical advertising. The codes address issues like truthfulness, targeting of children, privacy, and health claims. Methods for developing advertising ideas are also reviewed, such as mind maps, mood boards, style sheets, layout plans, and brainstorming. Both collaborative and individual approaches are considered.
Considerations for large scale aws migrationExpediuz Tech
IT services providers recommend virtualization not because it is an IT business trend that everyone simply must ride, but because it is, quite, a smart way of managing your IT resources. Every day, more and more organizations migrate to the Amazon Web Services public cloud. However, despite the cloud’s benefits in scalability, agility and efficiency, they discover a new set of challenges that need to be overcome.
Here are a few points that you should consider when in moving to the AWS cloud long term direction….

Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. 2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
2. ASA Codes
Number Name Brief Description
1 Compliance Don’t lie, break the law, or use offensive images.
2 Recognition of
marketing
communications
Contain logos, slogans and images. Make it obvious
that it is an advert, music helps to make the advert
memorable.
3 Misleading Adverts Don’t lie about what it can do, or the price.
4 Harm and Offence Do not include any images or phrases that can
cause any sort of offence to any particular person or
social group.
5 Children Is the advert suitable for children to view, you
cannot promote anything that could be dangerous,
or pressure children to buy it.
6 Privacy Written consent has to be given by a well known
celebrity before using their image in an
advertisement.
13 Food, food
supplements
and associated
health or nutritional
claims
Health benefits have to be supported by facts, and
you cannot promote unhealthy dietary habits.
4. Mind Map
• Strengths of using this method
You can clearly see all ideas and how they link to one another, using
only key pieces of information in a small space.
• Weaknesses of using this method
It takes up a lot of time and it isn’t always helpful as they can be
confusing when there is lots of information.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
Yes, it clearly shows linking ideas in an organised manner which I find
easy to follow.
6. Mood Board
• Strengths of using this method
You can see multiple images on a page that show past advertisement
for Coca Cola.
You can clearly present your inspiration
• Weaknesses of using this method
It shows you what you can’t do, because it has already been done
• Did you like using this method? Why?
No, it takes time which I could be spending doing something else
which is more productive.
8. Style Sheet
• Strengths of using this method
You can see what fonts suit the products, and what works and what
doesn’t.
• Weaknesses of using this method
Lots of similar fonts, and it’s the same words over and over
• Did you like using this method? Why?
No, however it can help you to visualise things.
10. Layout Plan
• Strengths of using this method
You can easily plan your final idea, starting off with your simple
original idea, adding detail each time to come up with your finished
idea.
• Weaknesses of using this method
There is no written information, and may confuse others
• Did you like using this method? Why?
No, I don’t like planning out exactly what I want to do
12. Brainstorm
• Strengths of using this method
Collaborate and show ideas, and to help remember things
• Weaknesses of using this method
People may disagree, may limit new ideas, may be more of a visual
learner
• Did you like using this method? Why?
No, it’s annoying and hard to follow
13. Informal Pitch
• Strengths of using this method
You get to talk you ideas through both as a group, but also so someone
else who can help and improve your idea(s), who may see flaws in
your plan which you were previously unaware of.
• Weaknesses of using this method
You only talk through one of your ideas which you, as a group think is
best, and no other idea is considered.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
I like this method as you get to talk through your idea(s) and that helps
me process certain things, however to me it would make more sense
to talk through all of your ideas even though it would take longer.
15. Initial Reaction
• To create a game similar to Donkey Kong,
where you have to avoid ‘rolling’ Pepsi lids,
going up stairs to different layers to rescue the
bottle of Coca Cola.
16. Initial Reaction
• Strengths of using this method
Clearly states an idea in an efficient manner
• Weaknesses of using this method
It is difficult to present and show more than idea
clearly
• Did you like using this method? Why?
No, it makes it difficult to keep track of different
Ideas
18. Sketches
• Strengths of using this method
You create ideas quicker on paper than if you
attempted on photoshop straight away
• Weaknesses of using this method
You may not be able to replicate what you want as
using pixels is more complicated
• Did you like using this method? Why?
Yes, but I wouldn’t want to do it every time. I like it
because you get to try out what you want to do
without using pixels instantly
20. Formal Proposal
• Strengths of using this method
You Clearly present you idea, and that you can keep track of what you
need to do.
• Weaknesses of using this method
You may find out whilst doing your formal proposal that certain things
you have to change from your original plan in order to stick to the
tasks given in the formal proposal.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
No, it takes a lot of time which I could otherwise be spending
improving my product.
It is also really annoying when you find out that you have to change
your original idea half way through in order to fit the formal proposal.
