Number Name Brief Description
1 Compliance Adverts should not lie to the consumer, should fit with legal

buying it nor should it use false information to make the product
more appealing.
4 Harm and Offence The advert should be decent and respectful with no intention to
cause offense or discriminate.
5 Children Target the advert at parents rather than children as you cannot
pressure children into buying products and most likely the parent
will be the one buying said product.
6 Privacy To use a celebrity or public figure in an advertisement you need
written confirmation that it is okay to do so, you must also not
portray them in a negative or offensive way.
13 Food, food supplements
and associated health or
nutritional claims
You cannot promote unhealthy or poor lifestyle choices, eating
habits that have negative impacts to your health or suggest that a
product has a positive effect on your health without proof.
3. Mind Map

by all 7 ASA rules and
regulations and should
be compliant and legally
absolute
It must be made clear
which exact product it
is promoting and that
it is in fact promoting
the product
Use of primary colours
used by the company
(red,white) to establish
brand ‘stamp’, the logo
and slogan should also
be incorporated into the

way that shows
offense or
discriminates
against other age
groups
The advert is set in
summer at the
start and moves
over towards
autumn season to
signify the end of
summer and
festival season.

season and the appeal to
drink coke in autumn.
Also highlight the appeal
to the age range and
include college/sixth
form/apprenticeship
students
Set in a social setting

lunch break at work,
a library/study area.
4. Mind Map
• Strengths of using this method
– Strengths of this are that it you get to present loads of
ideas at once which aren’t necessarily related but can
be combine to make a better idea on a whole.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– Weaknesses of this method are that the Ideas written
aren’t specifically fixed and don’t have a solid place in
the plan.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
I liked using this method because you can combine and
develop ideas as you progress and it isn’t set in such a
formal presentation.
6. Mood Board
• Strengths of using this method
– Strengths of this are that it shows imagery and
allows you to do research which further develops
your initial ideas.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– Weaknesses of this are that it doesn’t necessarily
show what specific ideas you have, just a general
target.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
- I liked using this method because it is simple and
the research aspect of it helps broaden your ideas into
a more developed stage.
8. Style Sheet
• Strengths of using this method
– Strengths of this are that it gives you various ideas and
specifics for the poster, e.g. what font to use, colour,
style/aesthetic
• Weaknesses of using this method
– Weaknesses of this are that it only gives you an idea
of what things you want to incorporate rather than
any actual development.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
I disliked using this method as I found it very similar to
the mood board with little differences between them,
meaning not much progress has been made.
10. Layout Plan
• Strengths of using this method
– Strengths of this are that it allows you to develop your
idea’s in a more fixed and formal way.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– Weaknesses of this are that it doesn’t allow you to
have a wide variety of ideas as there is very little
space and is set more in an organised fashion.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
I liked using this method as it helped me create a solid
idea of what my poster will look like and how the colour
scheme works.
11. Brainstorm
Coca Cola adverts seem to be all
about sharing with others, the ads
mostly consist of a person having
a Coke and sharing it with another
person. This factor also links to
the ‘Share A Coke’ campaign
where Coca Cola decided to
create customised bottles with
either a first or last name, generic
nickname or how they are in
relation to you (friend, family,
wife, mate.) The aim of the
campaign was to get people to go
into shops looking for a Coke with
their name on to buy, it had huge
commercial success and Coca Cola
have renewed it every year since
it started (2015.)
The company advertise
Coke as one of the best
drinks if not thee best
drink, in Coca Cola’s
adverts consumers
appear to experience a
moment of bliss or
delight when drinking
the beverage. This idea
links into Cola’s other
campaign ‘Taste The
Feeling’.
Coca cola also use’s a range of songs
and jingles in their advertisements,
usually keeping with current popular
songs or seasonal songs.
12. Brainstorm
• Strengths of using this method
– Strengths of using this method are that you can read
and observe directly from the source and note your
ideas down.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– Weaknesses of this method are that your ideas and
annotations are more fixed and formal so it gives you
less of a creative margin.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
I liked using this method as you can take ideas directly
from the source and explain and annotate how they work.
13. Informal Pitch
• Strengths of using this method
– Strengths of this are that you can explain your ideas in
the manner you speak (informally) and you are able to
get feedback from your tutor.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– Weaknesses of this method is that it is only one
persons feedback so you only get one opinion on your
pitch.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
I liked using this method because when speaking you can express
what ideas you have and what planning you have done in detail
to get feedback on how to improve it.
15. Group Idea Generation
• Strengths of using this method
– Strengths of this are that you can combine two
different ideas Into a larger more descriptive plan.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– Weaknesses of this are that the group idea may not
necessary be as good as your original idea or you and
your partner might have a difference of opinion.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
I liked using this method because it helped me
develop on my own ideas to produce a better, more
descriptive idea of what I want to include to my radio
advert.
16. Formal Pitch
• Strengths of using this method
– Strengths of this are that you get an additional opinion of
your work and of how it can be improved, this allows you
to develop your work beyond the group.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– Weaknesses of this are that you only get to hear one
persons opinion, this could impact your work as they may
not like a particular thing that other people would,
shortening your target market.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
This method is good as it allows you to finalise and
professionalise your ideas which helps it become a solid
product which can be presented in a formal way.
17. Initial Reaction
• My initial reaction to pixel art is that It is
variably easy and seems fun to create things
with, however I am hesitant towards the
drawing side of things as I am really bad at
drawing and have an ‘unsteady hand’ as you
would call it. The computer work however is
quite simple and creative and I feel
comfortable using pixel art in the project.
18. Initial Reaction
• Strengths of using this method
– Strengths of this are that you get to ‘self assess’
yourself on what went good and what went bad in
this unit of the project.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– Weaknesses of this are that you’re only noting down
your own opinion so you don’t get another view on it,
also your opinion could be biased as it comes from the
creator.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
No I disliked this method as in my opinion you are
noting down things you have already thought about.
20. Sketches
• Strengths of using this method
– Strengths of this are that it gives you something to
base your ideas on, like a template for your initial
ideas for the game
• Weaknesses of using this method
– Weaknesses of this are that recreating the pictures on
the computer is hard as the drawing has a different
layout and dimensions.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
- I liked using this as it gave me time to think about what
I want to create and how I would draw it in pixel.
21. Formal Proposal
• Strengths of using this method
– Strengths of this method are that it finalizes your ideas
into a solid product which can be presented formally.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– Weaknesses of this method are that if you change
anything in your game from something originally planned
you then have to go back and edit your proposal to the
specific changes made.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
- I dislike this method as it restricts creative content and is
shown in a formal way which differs from my usual writing style.
