Production Process Evaluation
Research
• First of all I researched 3 already existing products, this helped me to see
what already existed, possibly giving me ideas that I could use in my own
product. It also helped me to know what exists so I won’t accidentally
plagiarise it, and get myself into trouble.
• I then created a survey in order to find out what people want and enjoy
about, this helped me to know what to, and not to do in regards to my
project.
• I then interviewed 2 people asking them both the same 5 questions to find
out what them two individuals felt and preferred about Horror films. I
took all this research into consideration when thinking about my project.
Planning
• I started off creating a mood board
containing images and themes from my chosen
genre.
• I planned what I was filming, and when and where the filming was going
to take place.
• I decided on what fonts I was going to use, and created a story board for
what I was filming
Time Management
Even though I created a schedule, not
everything went to plan.
For instance, I was not allowed to go to
Hull to film on the Saturday and
Sunday, so that following week I could
not spend editing my final footage.
Instead I spent all week creating a DVD
cover. When I filmed on Friday, I spent
the following Monday through to
Wednesday editing footage. I did not
meet the Personal Production Project
deadline on the right, however I
managed to complete it all by the final
deadline.
Technical Qualities
Both DVD covers contain a lot of black using it as their
main colour, as well as a lot of red giving off
connotations of blood, and death and pain. The dark
colours give a sense of unease.
The use of bold writing is dramatic in the existing
product, however, in mine I merged my writing within
the photo itself.
Other similarities within both mine and the already
existing product is the use of stills from the film.
Aesthetic Qualities
My video started off with a quick two
second close-up of a ballerina on
pointe to create a sense of mystery,
trying not to give away too much
information.
The use of cards flashing up offers
hints towards what my film may be
about, however offers no actual
information towards my film.
I ended on a black screen
with the word please being
said in the background to
end on another sense of
mystery.
Throughout my teaser trailer, the
girls make up gets progressively
worse as it goes on.
Ending with her make up running
down her face.
Audience Appeal
I cast a girl of the same age range as my target audience to make it more appealing
and relevant to them.
I also researched horror films and their context, along with their trailers to see what
makes an effective trailer.
The narrative of my film trailer is interesting but doesn’t reveal the story line

• What did you like about the product?
– I really enjoyed watching and listening to this product as it was really well put
together and broadcasted the scary/creepy feel you could tell she is trying to
convey. I really like the editing of this product as it was expertly done and
looked like it took a while to produce, especially with the cards at the end. I
really enjoyed the music playing in the background as well as that added a lot
to the product, if not made it, as before the girl even came on screen the
creepy, sinister music was playing, already giving you the creeps. I really like
the girl performing the actions in this as well as she really brought this
particular film to life as you really did think she was possessed and tormented.
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
– I don’t think a lot of improvements can be made from this project as its really
good and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. Although perhaps the girl could
have perhaps done a few more actions, a few more moves, just to add some
more creepiness to the film. Perhaps a more dramatic scary ending would
have been cooler as well but other than those things the product was great.

• What did you like about the product?
– I like the product that I was shown. liked how creepy it was with the
cards popping up as well a the creepy music which helped add a an
disturbing atmosphere to the video.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– You could have added a few more effects but apart from that it was
good.

• What did you like about the product?
– There were many things I liked about this product, but I especially
liked the changes in the speed of the dancer and the music used in the
video made the entire thing much creepier.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– Too improve the video you could make the cards easier too read or
skip past at a much slower pace also making the video that much
longer.

• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
I agree with the fact that I should have extended the piece for a
bit longer this could have been done in many ways. I could of
edited the clip more extending the time on it or get the dancer
to add in some extra moves for diversity. Therefor extending it
enough to make a better clip as well as a more immersive piece.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
Peer Feedback Summary
I would have gone with my original idea of using an abandoned building as my setting
and filmed there.
I would have planned it a lot more, and in more detail; making sure the dancer had a
long enough dance routine with enough moves and variation. I would take a lot more
clips and listen to the music more to make the dance fit and flow with the music more.
I would spend more time editing the photos of the cards, making sure that they were
straight and central when I imported them into Premiere.

  • 3. Research • First of all I researched 3 already existing products, this helped me to see what already existed, possibly giving me ideas that I could use in my own product. It also helped me to know what exists so I won’t accidentally plagiarise it, and get myself into trouble. • I then created a survey in order to find out what people want and enjoy about, this helped me to know what to, and not to do in regards to my project. • I then interviewed 2 people asking them both the same 5 questions to find out what them two individuals felt and preferred about Horror films. I took all this research into consideration when thinking about my project.
  • 4. Planning • I started off creating a mood board containing images and themes from my chosen genre. • I planned what I was filming, and when and where the filming was going to take place. • I decided on what fonts I was going to use, and created a story board for what I was filming
  • 5. Time Management Even though I created a schedule, not everything went to plan. For instance, I was not allowed to go to Hull to film on the Saturday and Sunday, so that following week I could not spend editing my final footage. Instead I spent all week creating a DVD cover. When I filmed on Friday, I spent the following Monday through to Wednesday editing footage. I did not meet the Personal Production Project deadline on the right, however I managed to complete it all by the final deadline.
  • 6. Technical Qualities Both DVD covers contain a lot of black using it as their main colour, as well as a lot of red giving off connotations of blood, and death and pain. The dark colours give a sense of unease. The use of bold writing is dramatic in the existing product, however, in mine I merged my writing within the photo itself. Other similarities within both mine and the already existing product is the use of stills from the film.
  • 7. Aesthetic Qualities My video started off with a quick two second close-up of a ballerina on pointe to create a sense of mystery, trying not to give away too much information. The use of cards flashing up offers hints towards what my film may be about, however offers no actual information towards my film. I ended on a black screen with the word please being said in the background to end on another sense of mystery. Throughout my teaser trailer, the girls make up gets progressively worse as it goes on. Ending with her make up running down her face.
  • 8. Audience Appeal I cast a girl of the same age range as my target audience to make it more appealing and relevant to them. I also researched horror films and their context, along with their trailers to see what makes an effective trailer. The narrative of my film trailer is interesting but doesn’t reveal the story line
  • 10. Feedback 1 • What did you like about the product? – I really enjoyed watching and listening to this product as it was really well put together and broadcasted the scary/creepy feel you could tell she is trying to convey. I really like the editing of this product as it was expertly done and looked like it took a while to produce, especially with the cards at the end. I really enjoyed the music playing in the background as well as that added a lot to the product, if not made it, as before the girl even came on screen the creepy, sinister music was playing, already giving you the creeps. I really like the girl performing the actions in this as well as she really brought this particular film to life as you really did think she was possessed and tormented. • What improvements could have been made to the product? – I don’t think a lot of improvements can be made from this project as its really good and I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. Although perhaps the girl could have perhaps done a few more actions, a few more moves, just to add some more creepiness to the film. Perhaps a more dramatic scary ending would have been cooler as well but other than those things the product was great.
  • 11. Feedback 2 • What did you like about the product? – I like the product that I was shown. liked how creepy it was with the cards popping up as well a the creepy music which helped add a an disturbing atmosphere to the video. • What improvements could have been made to the product? – You could have added a few more effects but apart from that it was good.
  • 12. Feedback 3 • What did you like about the product? – There were many things I liked about this product, but I especially liked the changes in the speed of the dancer and the music used in the video made the entire thing much creepier. • What improvements could have been made to the product? – Too improve the video you could make the cards easier too read or skip past at a much slower pace also making the video that much longer.
  • 13. Peer Feedback Summary • What do you agree with from your peer feedback? I agree with the fact that I should have extended the piece for a bit longer this could have been done in many ways. I could of edited the clip more extending the time on it or get the dancer to add in some extra moves for diversity. Therefor extending it enough to make a better clip as well as a more immersive piece. • What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
  • 14. Peer Feedback Summary I would have gone with my original idea of using an abandoned building as my setting and filmed there. I would have planned it a lot more, and in more detail; making sure the dancer had a long enough dance routine with enough moves and variation. I would take a lot more clips and listen to the music more to make the dance fit and flow with the music more. I would spend more time editing the photos of the cards, making sure that they were straight and central when I imported them into Premiere.
