ASA Codes
Number Name Brief Description
1 Compliance Be sure not to lie break laws or do something that can be
considered indecent
2 Recognition of
marketing
communications
It has to be clear that what you are showing is an advert,
for instance you must have the logos prominently present
3 Misleading Adverts Tell the truth about what you are selling, don’t say it will
do something that it wont
4 Harm and Offence don't discriminate or intentionally set out to offend a
specific group or party
5 Children You cannot promote dangerous behaviour to a child or try
to pressure them in to buying something and you must
understand that a child can see most adverts
6 Privacy If you plan to use a celebrity or group, ask they're
permission beforehand
13 Food, food
supplements
and associated health
or nutritional claims
You cant show off an unhealthy lifestyle as a good thing
and you cant lie about health benefits
Mind Map
Coca-Cola
seasons:
Coca-Cola is a brand that gets
most of its advertising from
summer and Christmas, in
summer it is shown as a cool
refreshing drink whereas in
winter its more of an ice cold
beverage associated with father
Christmas.
Colours:
Coca-Cola has always had the colour
red as its prominent staple and it
most likely will stay that way but as
Coca-Cola has diversified with
different types of they're signature
drink they have started bringing in
the new colours in to they're logos
as well.
Target audience:
The target audience for Coca-
Cola are young teens to
young adults, the intention is
for everyone to be drinking
Coca-Cola however the
adverts prominently use
adults and teens in groups
with friends, particularly
those that hang out together
in groups.
Slogans:
The criteria for coca-colas
slogans are usually short and
simple with the prominent
themes of brand loyalty and
also sharing with others
around you.
The message:
The message Coca-Cola wants to
send across primarily is that they
are a refreshing drink to be shared
with others, this is clear from
they're advertisement as it revolves
around drinking with others and
sharing/giving.
Images:
The visuals Coca-Cola most
prominently shows us is the
images of the drink clearly in the
frame and also with groups of
friends around it, at winter it
shifts to showing father Christmas
more prominently.
Logo:
The logo of the brand is that of
the title in black with a bright
red background which will
catch your eye, it appears at
the end of an advertisement
appearing to flow on to the
screen like liquid.
Mind Map
• Strengths of using this method
Its clear what you are analysing and all the factors of it as everything is labelled and in some
detail, it’s a easier way of making and remembering notes.
• Weaknesses of using this method
It takes more time than simply writing out the notes and also it can become quite easy to lose
track and run out of the available space.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
I do like using this method as its neat and tidy and its clearer for you to find specific information
and notes it also allows you to make links with information quite clearly with arrows from one to
the other.
Mood Board
Mood Board
• Strengths of using this method
Clear visuals of all the different types of ideas and designs of the brand
• Weaknesses of using this method
It shows little to no written information and so you have to scour the mood board every time you
need information. It also looks messy and is hard to find specific information.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
I did not like using this method because even though it has more images and examples it gives
less notes, and written information. I prefer having the information tidily written down.
Style Sheet

Colour
combinations:
Red/black
Red/white
Green/blue
Purple and
yellow
Style Sheet
• Strengths of using this method
It helps show all of the options and combinations available to you
• Weaknesses of using this method
If your not sure what you need then it can appear quite complicated and difficult, you need an
idea before you come to this.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
Yes it was very helpful once I got an idea of what I was doing and how I wanted things to look
Layout Plan
Coca-Cola
Don’t let the fizz get you down
Everything in the poster
gives the semblance of
rising up like the bubbles
and the froth, this is to try
and give the feeling of a
happy atmosphere
The slogan is
supposed to be a
positive message
with a different
compared to the
logo
Darker shade of red
to help it stand out
against its
background
Layout Plan
• Strengths of using this method
Lets you see your ideas come to life and see how it looks.
• Weaknesses of using this method
You may want to change something afterwards once you have finished it.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
I liked this method because it made it easier for me to experiment with the design I wanted
because originally it looked like a poster for a chocolate bar. On a computer it is easy to undo
mistakes and alter it.
Brainstorm
Brainstorm
• Strengths of using this method
– Its not reliant on your own knowledge as you also have the ideas and opinions of others.
– Lots of different possibility's become clear to you which you can look in to and use to make your final product even
better
• Weaknesses of using this method
– Its easy to get side tracked and fall off topic which can lead to ideas which do not relate to the task at hand.
– Not everyone can get heard and so some points may be missed out
• Did you like using this method? Why?
Yes as it helped me think about more possibility's than I normally wouldn't on my own.
The fact that there were multiple people working on it at a time allowed us to look at many aspects in a short amount of time
Informal Pitch
• Strengths of using this method
– You can give all the information you have and also different ideas or alterations.
– Afterwards you are given good feedback to
• Weaknesses of using this method
– It’s a compilation of bits and pieces of the work which isn’t really final and isn’t really final
• Did you like using this method? Why?
I did like using this method as it helped us understand what we were doing better
Group Idea Generation
Themes/season
Easter/spring
Summer holidays/summer
Christmas/winter
Halloween/autumn
Sound effects
Coca-Cola can opening/pouring the contents out
Door bells
Background music
Voice overs
Events
Day out
Festival
Holliday
Family even
Target audience
16-20 ear olds
Maybe 14-18 yr.
Olds
Main target is older
Teenagers to middle aged adults
Group Idea Generation
• Strengths of using this method
Plenty of different opinions and ideas being presented by different people meaning there wont be a lack of ideas on what
to do and what to use.
The work of creating ideas for each section isn’t just left up to you meaning less pressure and more options
• Weaknesses of using this method
If you do not get along with your group or if everyone has very conflicting ideas then it can result in arguments and
jumbled work.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
I did like this method as provided plenty of ideas and possibilities which could be pursued for the project which meant more
options in case one idea fell through. The added help of working with people I like also allowed me to get more work done
Formal Pitch
• Strengths of using this method
– It is a neat tidy way of presenting all the important information and data together ready to be presented
• Weaknesses of using this method
– It takes added time to order and correct everything that is written and for someone impatient doing this can find this
very frustrating when it can just be said.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
I did like using this method as it helped me tidy my work and keep it ordered as I went through it for the poject.
Initial Reaction
My initial reaction to this project is excitement as this is the project I've been looking forward to the most, im
looking forward to trying out my ideas in this format but I am also a little nervous as to my skills when it comes
to drawing and designing things. Another thing I worry about this project is that I may set myself too much to
do. I quite enjoy working in pixels anyway as it takes less finesse than when drawing with a pencil and that
means less frustration for me when designing. I'm not sure how big the games we are going to design will be
but hopefully there's room for a little creativity on my part
Initial Reaction
• Strengths of using this method
When using this method it will allow me to see my own strength sand weaknesses in advance and it also
helped me to understand what I want to do a little better.
• Weaknesses of using this method
A weakness is that its easy to lose track and focus and begin rambling instead of saying something
productive.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
I did enjoy using this method as I believe it helps give a good positive outlook on what you are doing and helps
make things clearer as to what I am doing.
Sketches
Sketches
• Strengths of using this method
It can help show your ideas in rough and lets you get said ideas down on paper so they wont be forgotten.
Because it’s a physical piece of work it wont get corrupted
• Weaknesses of using this method
On a computer its just as easy to do and even easier to alter if you change your mind making it a little faster to do on the
computer.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
I did not like using this method as I believe it wasted more time than necessary rather than just ding it n the actual program itself
which is faster, I do understand the benefits of the physical copy and the drafts but I believe it wasn’t necessary.
Formal Proposal
• Strengths of using this method
– Tidy way to present a game to someone making it look more refined and professional which is highly necessary when
proposing an idea.
• Weaknesses of using this method
You may not be able to accurately convey all the information you have about the product through this proposal and
information could be presented in a confusing manor
• Did you like using this method? Why?
Yes I do like using this as its far more orderly than just trying to show off everything that you have.

  • 3. Mind Map Coca-Cola seasons: Coca-Cola is a brand that gets most of its advertising from summer and Christmas, in summer it is shown as a cool refreshing drink whereas in winter its more of an ice cold beverage associated with father Christmas. Colours: Coca-Cola has always had the colour red as its prominent staple and it most likely will stay that way but as Coca-Cola has diversified with different types of they're signature drink they have started bringing in the new colours in to they're logos as well. Target audience: The target audience for Coca- Cola are young teens to young adults, the intention is for everyone to be drinking Coca-Cola however the adverts prominently use adults and teens in groups with friends, particularly those that hang out together in groups. Slogans: The criteria for coca-colas slogans are usually short and simple with the prominent themes of brand loyalty and also sharing with others around you. The message: The message Coca-Cola wants to send across primarily is that they are a refreshing drink to be shared with others, this is clear from they're advertisement as it revolves around drinking with others and sharing/giving. Images: The visuals Coca-Cola most prominently shows us is the images of the drink clearly in the frame and also with groups of friends around it, at winter it shifts to showing father Christmas more prominently. Logo: The logo of the brand is that of the title in black with a bright red background which will catch your eye, it appears at the end of an advertisement appearing to flow on to the screen like liquid.
  • 4. Mind Map • Strengths of using this method Its clear what you are analysing and all the factors of it as everything is labelled and in some detail, it’s a easier way of making and remembering notes. • Weaknesses of using this method It takes more time than simply writing out the notes and also it can become quite easy to lose track and run out of the available space. • Did you like using this method? Why? I do like using this method as its neat and tidy and its clearer for you to find specific information and notes it also allows you to make links with information quite clearly with arrows from one to the other.
  • 6. Mood Board • Strengths of using this method Clear visuals of all the different types of ideas and designs of the brand • Weaknesses of using this method It shows little to no written information and so you have to scour the mood board every time you need information. It also looks messy and is hard to find specific information. • Did you like using this method? Why? I did not like using this method because even though it has more images and examples it gives less notes, and written information. I prefer having the information tidily written down.
  • 7. Style Sheet Font: Blackadder itc Bauhaus 93 Brush script std Harlow solid italic Colour combinations: Red/black Red/white Green/blue Purple and yellow
  • 8. Style Sheet • Strengths of using this method It helps show all of the options and combinations available to you • Weaknesses of using this method If your not sure what you need then it can appear quite complicated and difficult, you need an idea before you come to this. • Did you like using this method? Why? Yes it was very helpful once I got an idea of what I was doing and how I wanted things to look
  • 9. Layout Plan Coca-Cola Don’t let the fizz get you down Everything in the poster gives the semblance of rising up like the bubbles and the froth, this is to try and give the feeling of a happy atmosphere The slogan is supposed to be a positive message with a different compared to the logo Darker shade of red to help it stand out against its background
  • 10. Layout Plan • Strengths of using this method Lets you see your ideas come to life and see how it looks. • Weaknesses of using this method You may want to change something afterwards once you have finished it. • Did you like using this method? Why? I liked this method because it made it easier for me to experiment with the design I wanted because originally it looked like a poster for a chocolate bar. On a computer it is easy to undo mistakes and alter it.
  • 12. Brainstorm • Strengths of using this method – Its not reliant on your own knowledge as you also have the ideas and opinions of others. – Lots of different possibility's become clear to you which you can look in to and use to make your final product even better • Weaknesses of using this method – Its easy to get side tracked and fall off topic which can lead to ideas which do not relate to the task at hand. – Not everyone can get heard and so some points may be missed out • Did you like using this method? Why? Yes as it helped me think about more possibility's than I normally wouldn't on my own. The fact that there were multiple people working on it at a time allowed us to look at many aspects in a short amount of time
  • 13. Informal Pitch • Strengths of using this method – You can give all the information you have and also different ideas or alterations. – Afterwards you are given good feedback to • Weaknesses of using this method – It’s a compilation of bits and pieces of the work which isn’t really final and isn’t really final • Did you like using this method? Why? I did like using this method as it helped us understand what we were doing better
  • 14. Group Idea Generation Themes/season Easter/spring Summer holidays/summer Christmas/winter Halloween/autumn Sound effects Coca-Cola can opening/pouring the contents out Door bells Background music Voice overs Events Day out Festival Holliday Family even Target audience 16-20 ear olds Maybe 14-18 yr. Olds Main target is older Teenagers to middle aged adults
  • 15. Group Idea Generation • Strengths of using this method Plenty of different opinions and ideas being presented by different people meaning there wont be a lack of ideas on what to do and what to use. The work of creating ideas for each section isn’t just left up to you meaning less pressure and more options • Weaknesses of using this method If you do not get along with your group or if everyone has very conflicting ideas then it can result in arguments and jumbled work. • Did you like using this method? Why? I did like this method as provided plenty of ideas and possibilities which could be pursued for the project which meant more options in case one idea fell through. The added help of working with people I like also allowed me to get more work done
  • 16. Formal Pitch • Strengths of using this method – It is a neat tidy way of presenting all the important information and data together ready to be presented • Weaknesses of using this method – It takes added time to order and correct everything that is written and for someone impatient doing this can find this very frustrating when it can just be said. • Did you like using this method? Why? I did like using this method as it helped me tidy my work and keep it ordered as I went through it for the poject.
  • 17. Initial Reaction My initial reaction to this project is excitement as this is the project I've been looking forward to the most, im looking forward to trying out my ideas in this format but I am also a little nervous as to my skills when it comes to drawing and designing things. Another thing I worry about this project is that I may set myself too much to do. I quite enjoy working in pixels anyway as it takes less finesse than when drawing with a pencil and that means less frustration for me when designing. I'm not sure how big the games we are going to design will be but hopefully there's room for a little creativity on my part
  • 18. Initial Reaction • Strengths of using this method When using this method it will allow me to see my own strength sand weaknesses in advance and it also helped me to understand what I want to do a little better. • Weaknesses of using this method A weakness is that its easy to lose track and focus and begin rambling instead of saying something productive. • Did you like using this method? Why? I did enjoy using this method as I believe it helps give a good positive outlook on what you are doing and helps make things clearer as to what I am doing.
  • 20. Sketches • Strengths of using this method It can help show your ideas in rough and lets you get said ideas down on paper so they wont be forgotten. Because it’s a physical piece of work it wont get corrupted • Weaknesses of using this method On a computer its just as easy to do and even easier to alter if you change your mind making it a little faster to do on the computer. • Did you like using this method? Why? I did not like using this method as I believe it wasted more time than necessary rather than just ding it n the actual program itself which is faster, I do understand the benefits of the physical copy and the drafts but I believe it wasn’t necessary.
  • 21. Formal Proposal • Strengths of using this method – Tidy way to present a game to someone making it look more refined and professional which is highly necessary when proposing an idea. • Weaknesses of using this method You may not be able to accurately convey all the information you have about the product through this proposal and information could be presented in a confusing manor • Did you like using this method? Why? Yes I do like using this as its far more orderly than just trying to show off everything that you have.
