This document provides an overview and analysis of parallel programming models. It begins with an abstract discussing the growing demand for parallel computing and challenges with existing parallel programming frameworks. It then reviews several relevant studies on parallel programming models and architectures. The document goes on to describe several key parallel programming models in more detail, including the Parallel Random Access Machine (PRAM) model, Unrestricted Message Passing (UMP) model, and Bulk Synchronous Parallel (BSP) model. It discusses aspects of each model like architecture, communication methods, and associated cost models. The overall goal is to compare benefits and limitations of different parallel programming models.
Integrating profiling into mde compilersijseajournal
Scientific computation requires more and more performance in its algorithms. New massively parallel
architectures suit well to these algorithms. They are known for offering high performance and power
efficiency. Unfortunately, as parallel programming for these architectures requires a complex distribution
of tasks and data, developers find difficult to implement their applications effectively. Although approaches
based on source-to-source intends to provide a low learning curve for parallel programming and take
advantage of architecture features to create optimized applications, programming remains difficult for
neophytes. This work aims at improving performance by returning to the high-level models, specific
execution data from a profiling tool enhanced by smart advices computed by an analysis engine. In order to
keep the link between execution and model, the process is based on a traceability mechanism. Once the
model is automatically annotated, it can be re-factored aiming better performances on the re-generated
code. Hence, this work allows keeping coherence between model and code without forgetting to harness the
power of parallel architectures. To illustrate and clarify key points of this approach, we provide an
experimental example in GPUs context. The example uses a transformation chain from UML-MARTE
models to OpenCL code.
Performance Evaluation using Blackboard Technique in Software ArchitectureEditor IJCATR
Validation of software systems is very useful at the primary stages of their development cycle. Evaluation of functional
requirements is supported by clear and appropriate approaches, but there is no similar strategy for evaluation of non-functional
requirements (such as performance). Whereas establishing the non-functional requirements have significant effect on success of
software systems, therefore considerable necessities are needed for evaluation of non-functional requirements. Also, if the software
performance has been specified based on performance models, may be evaluated at the primary stages of software development cycle.
Therefore, modeling and evaluation of non-functional requirements in software architecture level, that are designed at the primary
stages of software systems development cycle and prior to implementation, will be very effective.
We propose an approach for evaluate the performance of software systems, based on black board technique in software architecture

component diagrams. then UML model is transformed to an executable model based on timed colored petri nets(TCPN)
Consequently, upon execution of an executive model and analysis of its results, non-functional requirements including performance
(such as response time) may be evaluated in software architecture level.
Using Data Mining to Identify COSMIC Function Point Measurement Competence IJECEIAES
Cosmic Function Point (CFP) measurement errors leads budget, schedule and quality problems in software projects. Therefore, it’s important to identify and plan requirements engineers’ CFP training need quickly and correctly. The purpose of this paper is to identify software requirements engineers’ COSMIC Function Point measurement competence development need by using machine learning algorithms and requirements artifacts created by engineers. Used artifacts have been provided by a large service and technology company ecosystem in Telco. First, feature set has been extracted from the requirements model at hand. To do the data preparation for educational data mining, requirements and COSMIC Function Point (CFP) audit documents have been converted into CFP data set based on the designed feature set. This data set has been used to train and test the machine learning models by designing two different experiment settings to reach statistically significant results. Ten different machine learning algorithms have been used. Finally, algorithm performances have been compared with a baseline and each other to find the best performing models on this data set. In conclusion, REPTree, OneR, and Support Vector Machines (SVM) with Sequential Minimal Optimization (SMO) algorithms achieved top performance in forecasting requirements engineers’ CFP training need.

Abstract The management of software cost, development effort and project planning are the key aspects of software development. Throughout the sixty-odd years of software development, the industry has gone at least four generations of programming languages and three major development paradigms. Still the total ability to move consistently from idea to product is yet to be achieved. In fact, recent studies document that the failure rate for software development has risen almost to 50 percent. There is no magic in managing software development successfully, but a number of issues related to software development make it unique. The basic problem of software development is risky. Some example of risk is error in estimation, schedule slips, project cancelled after numerous slips, high defect rate, system goes sour, business misunderstanding, false feature rich, staff turnover. Availability Assessment of Software Systems Architecture Using Formal ModelsEditor IJCATR
There has been a significant effort to analyze, design and implement the information systems to process the information and data, and solve various problems. On the one hand, complexity of the contemporary systems, and eye-catching increase in the variety and volume of information has led to great number of the components and elements, and more complex structure and organization of the information systems. On the other hand, it is necessary to develop the systems which meet all of the stakeholders' functional and non-functional requirements. Considering the fact that evaluation and assessment of the aforementioned requirements - prior to the design and implementation phases - will consume less time and reduce costs, the best time to measure the evaluable behavior of the system is when its software architecture is provided. One of the ways to evaluate the architecture of software is creation of an executable model of architecture.
The present research used availability assessment and took repair, maintenance and accident time parameters into consideration. Failures of software and hardware components have been considered in the architecture of software systems. To describe the architecture easily, the authors used Unified Modeling Language (UML). However, due to the informality of UML, they utilized Colored Petri Nets (CPN) for assessment too. Eventually, the researchers evaluated a CPN-based executable model of architecture through CPN-Tools.
Systems variability modeling a textual model mixing class and feature conceptsijcsit
System’s reusability and cost are very important in software product line design area. Developers’ goal is
to increase system reusability and decreasing cost and efforts for building components from scratch for
each software configuration. This can be reached by developing software product line (SPL). To handle
SPL engineering process, several approaches with several techniques were developed. One of these
approaches is called separated approach. It requires separating the commonalities and variability for
system’s components to allow configuration selection based on user defined features. Textual notationbased
approaches have been used for their formal syntax and semantics to represent system features and
implementations. But these approaches are still weak in mixing features (conceptual level) and classes
(physical level) that guarantee smooth and automatic configuration generation for software releases. The
absence of methodology supporting the mixing process is a real weakness. In this paper, we enhanced
SPL’s reusability by introducing some meta-features, classified according to their functionalities. As a first
consequence, mixing class and feature concepts is supported in a simple way using class interfaces and
inherent features for smooth move from feature model to class model. And as a second consequence, the
mixing process is supported by a textual design and implementation methodology, mixing class and feature
models by combining their concepts in a single language. The supported configuration generation process
is simple, coherent, and complete.
Reusability Metrics for Object-Oriented System: An Alternative ApproachWaqas Tariq
Object-oriented metrics plays an import role in ensuring the desired quality and have widely been applied to practical software projects. The benefits of object-oriented software development increasing leading to development of new measurement techniques. Assessing the reusability is more and more of a necessity. Reusability is the key element to reduce the cost and improve the quality of the software. Generic programming helps us to achieve the concept of reusability through C++ Templates which helps in developing reusable software modules and also identify effectiveness of this reuse strategy. The advantage of defining metrics for templates is the possibility to measure the reusability of software component and to identify the most effective reuse strategy. The need for such metrics is particularly useful when an organization is adopting a new technology, for which established practices have yet to be developed. Many researchers have done research on reusability metrics [2, 9, 3, 4]. In this paper we have proposed four new independent metrics Number of Template Children (NTC), Depth of Template Tree (DTT) Method Template Inheritance Factor (MTIF) and Attribute Template Inheritance Factor (ATIF), to measure the reusability for object-oriented systems.

Following the principle of everything is object, software development engineering has moved towards the principle of everything is model, through Model Driven Engineering (MDE). Its implementation is based on models and their successive transformations, which allow starting from the requirements specification to the code’s implementation. This engineering is used in the development of information systems, including Decision-Support Systems (DSS). Here we use MDE to propose an DSS development approach, using the Multidimensional Canonical Partitioning (MCP) design approach and a design pattern. We also use model’s transformation in order to obtain not only implementation codes, but also data warehouse feeds.
Functional Verification of Large-integers Circuits using a Cosimulation-base...IJECEIAES
Cryptography and computational algebra designs are complex systems based on modular arithmetic and build on multi-level modules where bit-width is generally larger than 64-bit. Because of their particularity, such designs pose a real challenge for verification, in part because large-integer‘s functions are not supported in actual hardware description languages (HDLs), therefore limiting the HDL testbench utility. In another hand, high-level verification approach proved its efficiency in the last decade over HDL testbench technique by raising the latter at a higher abstraction level. In this work, we propose a high-level platform to verify such designs, by leveraging the capabilities of a popular tool (Matlab/Simulink) to meet the requirements of a cycle accurate verification without bit-size restrictions and in multi-level inside the design architecture. The proposed high-level platform is augmented by an assertion-based verification to complete the verification coverage. The platform experimental results of the testcase provided good evidence of its performance and re-usability.

This paper presents an approach for automated generation of requirements ontology using UML diagrams in service-oriented architecture (SOA). The goal of this paper is to convenience progress of software engineering processes like software design, software reuse, service discovering and etc. The proposed method is based on a four conceptual layers. The first layer includes requirements achieved by stakeholders, the second one designs service-oriented diagrams from the data in first layer and extracts XMI codes of them. The third layer includes requirement ontology and protocol ontology to describe behavior of services and relationships between them semantically. Finally the forth layer makes standard the concepts exists in ontologies of previous layer. The generated ontology exceeds absolute domain ontology because it considers the behavior of services moreover the hierarchical relationship of them. Experimental results conducted on a set of UML4Soa diagrams in different scopes demonstrate the improvement of the proposed approach from different points of view such as: completeness of requirements ontology, automatic generation and considering SOA.
An Analysis on Query Optimization in Distributed DatabaseEditor IJMTER

management system. This element is responsible for translating a user-submitted query
commonly written in a non-procedural language-into an efficient query evaluation program that
can be executed against the database. This research paper describes architecture steps of query

basic query optimization process and its architecture.
Maintaining the quality of the software is the major challenge in the process of software development.
Software inspections which use the methods like structured walkthroughs and formal code reviews involve
careful examination of each and every aspect/stage of software development. In Agile software
development, refactoring helps to improve software quality. This refactoring is a technique to improve
software internal structure without changing its behaviour. After much study regarding the ways to
improve software quality, our research proposes an object oriented software metric tool called
“MetricAnalyzer”. This tool is tested on different codebases and is proven to be much useful.
Feature Model Configuration Based on Two-Layer Modelling in Software Product ...IJECEIAES
The aim of the Software Product Line (SPL) approach is to improve the software development process by producing software products that match the stakeholders’ requirements. One of the important topics in SPLs is the feature model (FM) configuration process. The purpose of configuration here is to select and remove specific features from the FM in order to produce the required software product. At the same time, detection of differences between application’s requirements and the available capabilities of the implementation platform is a major concern of application requirements engineering. It is possible that the implementation of the selected features of FM needs certain software and hardware infrastructures such as database, operating system and hardware that cannot be made available by stakeholders. We address the FM configuration problem by proposing a method, which employs a two-layer FM comprising the application and infrastructure layers. We also show this method in the context of a case study in the SPL of a sample E-Shop website. The results demonstrate that this method can support both functional and non-functional requirements and can solve the problems arising from lack of attention to implementation requirements in SPL FM selection phase.
An Empirical Study of the Improved SPLD Framework using Expert Opinion TechniqueIJEACS
Due to the growing need for high-performance and low-cost software applications and the increasing competitiveness, the industry is under pressure to deliver products with low development cost, reduced delivery time and improved quality. To address these demands, researchers have proposed several development methodologies and frameworks. One of the latest methodologies is software product line (SPL) which utilizes the concepts like reusability and variability to deliver successful products with shorter time-to-market, least development and minimum maintenance cost with a high-quality product. This research paper is a validation of our proposed framework, Improved Software Product Line (ISPL), using Expert Opinion Technique. An extensive survey based on a set of questionnaires on various aspects and sub-processes of the ISPLD Framework was carried. Analysis of the empirical data concludes that ISPL shows significant improvements on several aspects of the contemporary SPL frameworks.
QUALITY-AWARE APPROACH FOR ENGINEERING SELF-ADAPTIVE SOFTWARE SYSTEMScscpconf
Self-adaptivity allows software systems to autonomously adjust their behavior during run-time to reduce
the cost complexities caused by manual maintenance. In this paper, an approach for building an external
adaptation engine for self-adaptive software systems is proposed. In order to improve the quality of selfadaptive
software systems, this research addresses two challenges in self-adaptive software systems. The
first challenge is managing the complexity of the adaptation space efficiently and the second is handling the
run-time uncertainty that hinders the adaptation process. This research utilizes Case-based Reasoning as
an adaptation engine along with utility functions for realizing the managed system’s requirements and
handling uncertainty.

A MODEL TO COMPARE THE DEGREE OF REFACTORING OPPORTUNITIES OF THREE PROJECTS ...acijjournal
Refactoring is applied to the software artifacts so as to improve its internal structure, while preserving its
external behavior. Refactoring is an uncertain process and it is difficult to give some units for
measurement. The amount to refactoring that can be applied to the source-code depends upon the skills of
the developer. In this research, we have perceived refactoring as a quantified object on an ordinal scale of
measurement. We have a proposed a model for determining the degree of refactoring opportunities in the
given source-code. The model is applied on the three projects collected from a company. UML diagrams
are drawn for each project. The values for source-code metrics, that are useful in determining the quality of
code, are calculated for each UML of the projects. Based on the nominal values of metrics, each relevant
UML is represented on an ordinal scale. A machine learning tool, weka, is used to analyze the dataset,
imported in the form of arff file, produced by the three projects.
A Novel Optimization towards Higher Reliability in Predictive Modelling towar...IJECEIAES
Although, the area of software engineering has made a remarkable progress in last decade but there is less attention towards the concept of code reusability in this regards.Code reusability is a subset of Software Reusability which is one of the signature topics in software engineering. We review the existing system to find that there is no progress or availability of standard research approach toward code reusability being introduced in last decade. Hence, this paper introduced a predictive framework that is used for optimizing the performance of code reusability. For this purpose, we introduce a case study of near real-time challenge and involved it in our modelling. We apply neural network and Damped-Least square algorithm to perform optimization with a sole target to compute and ensure highest possible reliability. The study outcome of our model exhibits higher reliability and better computational response time
A Comparative Study of Forward and Reverse Engineeringijsrd.com
With the software development at its boom compared to 20 years in the past, software developed in the past may or may not have a well-supported documentation during the software evolution. This may increase the specification gap between the document and the legacy code to make further evolutions and updates. Understanding the legacy code of the underlying decisions made during development is the prime motto, which is very well supported by Reverse Engineering. In this paper, we compare the Transformational Forward engineering, where a stepwise abstraction is obtained with the Transformational Reverse Methodology. While the forward transformation process produces overlap of the decisions, performance is affected. Hence, the use of transformational method of Reverse Engineering which is a backwards Forward Engineering process is suitable. Besides the design recognition obtained is a domain knowledge which can be used in future by the forward engineers.

In the present paper, applicability and
capability of A.I techniques for effort estimation prediction has
been investigated. It is seen that neuro fuzzy models are very
robust, characterized by fast computation, capable of handling
the distorted data. Due to the presence of data non-linearity, it is
an efficient quantitative tool to predict effort estimation. The one
hidden layer network has been developed named as OHLANFIS
using MATLAB simulation environment.
Here the initial parameters of the OHLANFIS are
identified using the subtractive clustering method. Parameters of
the Gaussian membership function are optimally determined
using the hybrid learning algorithm. From the analysis it is seen
that the Effort Estimation prediction model developed using
OHLANFIS technique has been able to perform well over normal
