RESEARCH
One of the strengths of my research was looking into
how I would edit the video in order to get a better idea of
how to properly utilise Adobe Premiere Pro. As I had
previously learnt, prior to the editing of my footage, how
to create the clone effect, I was able to quickly create it
for my unedited footage for the music video. This saved
me lots of time as it meant that I didn’t have to learn
how to edit the footage in a specific way in college. This
allowed me to steer clear of possible errors that could
have happened.
One weakness of my research was that I didn’t lean how
to properly sync my audio with my footage, which meant
that I spent more time in lesson trying to compile the
sections of footage and play it in time with the music. If I
had learnt how to do this beforehand, I could have saved
a large portion of time, as I ran into many errors whilst
trying to properly sync it all.
PLANNING
One of the main strengths of my planning was the story board and shot
list. These both massively helped me to reduce filming times as they
allowed me to understand what footage that I needed and how long the
duration of each shot needed to be. The story board allowed me to
visualise the each shot and how I wanted it to look, even though it was
a rough outline of what I wanted. I altered many of the shots in the
shot list as some of the footage was unusable or incomplete, however, I
am happy with the final product. I could have also improved my
storyboard by adding annotations to each frame in order to have a
better idea for what would be needed for each shot. This could have
potentially saved time as it would mean that there would be less
organisational work to do on the day of the shoot.
One of the weaknesses of my planning was the fact that I did not
consider how I would fit everything into frame in my video. This, meant
that I have had to edit the video and alter the sequences that were
planned in order to achieve a better look on the finished product. To
improve this I could look at my location that I have chosen for filming
more carefully and try and pre-organise the setup in order to achieve
the complete look of the video that I wanted at the beginning. This
would have had a better effect on my product as it would have allowed
it to look a lot cleaner and more professional. It would have also saved
me more time as I would have had less time to spend filming an
editing, meaning the final product would have been completed sooner.
TIME MANAGEMENT
I effectively managed my time during this project. I met
the requirements that I set myself for work, filming and
editing before the deadline which also allowed me time
to asses my work and see what could be Improved. My
time management also allowed me to film additional
segments of footage as well and edit them with plenty of
time to also edit them as well before, the deadline.
If I had more time, I would potentially re-film certain
parts of footage that needed to be extended or try and
gather different camera angles or shot types as well. This
would have improved the overall quality of my product
and helped improve the timing of my footage to the
music.
TECHNICAL QUALITIES -
CAMERA
I did not use any Particularly interesting camera techniques for my
video as it required a still shot for most of the footage in order to
create the clone effect. I would compare my music video to A-
punk by Vampire Weekend as it posses many similar qualities in
how the video was made. Both videos use a still shot for most of
the video. The main difference is that The A-punk video has a
continues shot for the entire video whereas mine cuts between
different angles.
TECHNICAL QUALITIES –
EDITING/POST
I think that my video is similar to A punk through it’s editing as both of
the videos use a ploy to catch the audience’s attention. In my music
video, I use the clone effect to capture the audience’s attention. In the
Vampire Weekend video they use a time lapse effect where their actions
are sped up but they play the instruments in time with the music which
runs at normal speed. Both videos use the use of colour to change the
style of the music video. In my video I use colour grading software to
create a gloomier video whereas in A-punk they use bright colours to
make the video look stranger. Both videos use a band element as well. In
my video I have edited the footage so I pay all the instruments in the
same frame, whereas A-punk features the actual band that created the
song.
ANNOTATIONS

Both use colour

the video
AESTHETIC QUALITIES
One of the aesthetic qualities of my music video is
the colour grading. I used colour grading tools so
that the music video looks slightly gloomier so
that it fits with the theme of the song. This will
make the music video fit better with the song
making it seem more appropriate. Another
aesthetic quality is the use of the location that I
filmed in. I used my garage as the music style is
garage rock. Therefore the music video will be
better suited for the song as it will have the same
style in it’s sound and video.
AUDIENCE APPEAL
I think that my video has appealed to the target audience
as it fits into the style of music video that compliments
the type of song that I have chosen. I think that the use of
a band playing the song would appeal as it gives the effect
of the song being played live. Because I have used a clone
effect, I think it creates a slightly different feel to the
video which makes it more interesting. One of the things
that the audience liked was the location. On the
questionnaire I was told that the use of a garage gave the
video a rougher look which suits the song that I picked for
the video. I was also told on the questionnaire that the
clone effect gave the video a different look which made it
more appealing as it allowed the video to stand out.
AUDIENCE APPEAL
The use of a garage for the location,
fits the type of song as it gives a
‘garage band’ and creates a rougher
look.
The colour
grading on the
video fits the
somewhat
melancholic
style of the
song as it
makes the
video seem
slightly
gloomier.
The use of a ‘live performance’ effect
makes the video slightly different
combined with the clone effect to give the
video a ploy that makes it more interesting.
PEER
FEEDBACK
FEEDBACK 1
What did you like about the product?
 The garage band style made the video seem rougher and gave the
video a budgeted look which fits the music.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
 The video seemed jumpy sometimes and cut to different shots
without transitions.
FEEDBACK 2
What did you like about the product?
 The clone effect because it made the video look different and made it
stand out to me a bit more.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
 The different characters in the video sometimes seemed to be out of
sync with the music and
FEEDBACK 3
What did you like about the product?
 The different shots that focused on different instruments because it
made the video more interesting to me.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
 The guitarist was a bit out of frame sometimes and the video didn’t
feel very centred.
PEER FEEDBACK SUMMARY -
POSITIVES
What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
I agree with all of the positive feedback as it does
highlight what I would say are some of the key points
that I wanted to convey during planning the video. I
liked that it was picked up with the ‘garage band’ effect
as I wanted that to come be noticed by the audience as I
also felt that it suited the song. The shots of the
instruments close up was also noticed as a positive
which I agree with as they add a different type of shot to
the video which focus on a different aspect of it
compared to the wide shots. Finally, the clone effect was
the main focus of the video which I expected to be seen
as a positive. I am glad that people saw it as a positive
because it was the hardest part of the music video to
make.
PEER FEEDBACK SUMMARY -
NEGATIVES
What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
I agree with what was said about the video not feeling
centralised. I struggled to fit everything into frame as the
clone effect required space between each clone, however
part of the guitar was purposefully placed out of frame
as I can not play the guitar.. I agreed with the fact that
the footage was not always synced with the footage as
when I filmed it, the actions were not always perfectly
timed with the music.
What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
I disagree that the cuts were jumpy as I felt that adding
too many transition would make the video seem tacky or
look like I was trying to hard to add effects and therefore
overdo it.
PEER FEEDBACK SUMMARY
 I would re-film a lot of my footage to try and make it so
that it syncs with the song better so that the music
video fits to the beat.
 I would re-arrange the layout in the video so that the
characters were more centralised in the frame so that
the footage looks better balanced as it would make the
video look cleaner.
 I would possibly use some transition effects in certain
points to improve the quality of the video.

  • 3. RESEARCH One of the strengths of my research was looking into how I would edit the video in order to get a better idea of how to properly utilise Adobe Premiere Pro. As I had previously learnt, prior to the editing of my footage, how to create the clone effect, I was able to quickly create it for my unedited footage for the music video. This saved me lots of time as it meant that I didn’t have to learn how to edit the footage in a specific way in college. This allowed me to steer clear of possible errors that could have happened. One weakness of my research was that I didn’t lean how to properly sync my audio with my footage, which meant that I spent more time in lesson trying to compile the sections of footage and play it in time with the music. If I had learnt how to do this beforehand, I could have saved a large portion of time, as I ran into many errors whilst trying to properly sync it all.
  • 4. PLANNING One of the main strengths of my planning was the story board and shot list. These both massively helped me to reduce filming times as they allowed me to understand what footage that I needed and how long the duration of each shot needed to be. The story board allowed me to visualise the each shot and how I wanted it to look, even though it was a rough outline of what I wanted. I altered many of the shots in the shot list as some of the footage was unusable or incomplete, however, I am happy with the final product. I could have also improved my storyboard by adding annotations to each frame in order to have a better idea for what would be needed for each shot. This could have potentially saved time as it would mean that there would be less organisational work to do on the day of the shoot. One of the weaknesses of my planning was the fact that I did not consider how I would fit everything into frame in my video. This, meant that I have had to edit the video and alter the sequences that were planned in order to achieve a better look on the finished product. To improve this I could look at my location that I have chosen for filming more carefully and try and pre-organise the setup in order to achieve the complete look of the video that I wanted at the beginning. This would have had a better effect on my product as it would have allowed it to look a lot cleaner and more professional. It would have also saved me more time as I would have had less time to spend filming an editing, meaning the final product would have been completed sooner.
  • 5. TIME MANAGEMENT I effectively managed my time during this project. I met the requirements that I set myself for work, filming and editing before the deadline which also allowed me time to asses my work and see what could be Improved. My time management also allowed me to film additional segments of footage as well and edit them with plenty of time to also edit them as well before, the deadline. If I had more time, I would potentially re-film certain parts of footage that needed to be extended or try and gather different camera angles or shot types as well. This would have improved the overall quality of my product and helped improve the timing of my footage to the music.
  • 6. TECHNICAL QUALITIES - CAMERA I did not use any Particularly interesting camera techniques for my video as it required a still shot for most of the footage in order to create the clone effect. I would compare my music video to A- punk by Vampire Weekend as it posses many similar qualities in how the video was made. Both videos use a still shot for most of the video. The main difference is that The A-punk video has a continues shot for the entire video whereas mine cuts between different angles.
  • 7. TECHNICAL QUALITIES – EDITING/POST I think that my video is similar to A punk through it’s editing as both of the videos use a ploy to catch the audience’s attention. In my music video, I use the clone effect to capture the audience’s attention. In the Vampire Weekend video they use a time lapse effect where their actions are sped up but they play the instruments in time with the music which runs at normal speed. Both videos use the use of colour to change the style of the music video. In my video I use colour grading software to create a gloomier video whereas in A-punk they use bright colours to make the video look stranger. Both videos use a band element as well. In my video I have edited the footage so I pay all the instruments in the same frame, whereas A-punk features the actual band that created the song.
  • 8. ANNOTATIONS Both videos use band element Both videos have ’gimmick’ that makes it more interesting Both videos use instruments being played long with the Both use colour to portray a style/emotion Both use fixed camera angle Both have a ‘budget’ element to the video
  • 9. AESTHETIC QUALITIES One of the aesthetic qualities of my music video is the colour grading. I used colour grading tools so that the music video looks slightly gloomier so that it fits with the theme of the song. This will make the music video fit better with the song making it seem more appropriate. Another aesthetic quality is the use of the location that I filmed in. I used my garage as the music style is garage rock. Therefore the music video will be better suited for the song as it will have the same style in it’s sound and video.
  • 10. AUDIENCE APPEAL I think that my video has appealed to the target audience as it fits into the style of music video that compliments the type of song that I have chosen. I think that the use of a band playing the song would appeal as it gives the effect of the song being played live. Because I have used a clone effect, I think it creates a slightly different feel to the video which makes it more interesting. One of the things that the audience liked was the location. On the questionnaire I was told that the use of a garage gave the video a rougher look which suits the song that I picked for the video. I was also told on the questionnaire that the clone effect gave the video a different look which made it more appealing as it allowed the video to stand out.
  • 11. AUDIENCE APPEAL The use of a garage for the location, fits the type of song as it gives a ‘garage band’ and creates a rougher look. The colour grading on the video fits the somewhat melancholic style of the song as it makes the video seem slightly gloomier. The use of a ‘live performance’ effect makes the video slightly different combined with the clone effect to give the video a ploy that makes it more interesting.
  • 13. FEEDBACK 1 What did you like about the product?  The garage band style made the video seem rougher and gave the video a budgeted look which fits the music. What improvements could have been made to the product?  The video seemed jumpy sometimes and cut to different shots without transitions.
  • 14. FEEDBACK 2 What did you like about the product?  The clone effect because it made the video look different and made it stand out to me a bit more. What improvements could have been made to the product?  The different characters in the video sometimes seemed to be out of sync with the music and
  • 15. FEEDBACK 3 What did you like about the product?  The different shots that focused on different instruments because it made the video more interesting to me. What improvements could have been made to the product?  The guitarist was a bit out of frame sometimes and the video didn’t feel very centred.
  • 16. PEER FEEDBACK SUMMARY - POSITIVES What do you agree with from your peer feedback? I agree with all of the positive feedback as it does highlight what I would say are some of the key points that I wanted to convey during planning the video. I liked that it was picked up with the ‘garage band’ effect as I wanted that to come be noticed by the audience as I also felt that it suited the song. The shots of the instruments close up was also noticed as a positive which I agree with as they add a different type of shot to the video which focus on a different aspect of it compared to the wide shots. Finally, the clone effect was the main focus of the video which I expected to be seen as a positive. I am glad that people saw it as a positive because it was the hardest part of the music video to make.
  • 17. PEER FEEDBACK SUMMARY - NEGATIVES What do you agree with from your peer feedback? I agree with what was said about the video not feeling centralised. I struggled to fit everything into frame as the clone effect required space between each clone, however part of the guitar was purposefully placed out of frame as I can not play the guitar.. I agreed with the fact that the footage was not always synced with the footage as when I filmed it, the actions were not always perfectly timed with the music. What do you disagree with from your peer feedback? I disagree that the cuts were jumpy as I felt that adding too many transition would make the video seem tacky or look like I was trying to hard to add effects and therefore overdo it.
  • 18. PEER FEEDBACK SUMMARY  I would re-film a lot of my footage to try and make it so that it syncs with the song better so that the music video fits to the beat.  I would re-arrange the layout in the video so that the characters were more centralised in the frame so that the footage looks better balanced as it would make the video look cleaner.  I would possibly use some transition effects in certain points to improve the quality of the video.
