3. RESEARCH
The strengths of my research is that it shows me and
gives me ideas on what to add to the music video whilst
being educated on themes in music videos. The research
gives an inlook of what music videos are like and creates
a vision of inspiration which can be used when creating
your own music video. Using various different videos as a
method of research can help develop more than one idea
and create different vibes. Another strength of my
research is to find combinations that could be
copyrighted and it lowers the risk of copying and
creating an issue when making your own video. My
research helped my music video by giving me inspiration
when I ran out of ideas and helped me develop my own
accordingly.
Weaknesses of my research is that it could be a little
more indepth and I could’ve explored with different vibes
in other music videos that fit in different music genres
like pop rock, R&B and rap, creating diversity in my
4. PLANNING
With planning, a strength of it would be that it creates a
idea that can be used, whilst also creating back up plans
just incase one falls through. Using planning is a great
way to keep track of what you are creating and also gives
chance to develop your own ideas.
Weaknesses of my planning would be to create a diverse
idea that could be a mix of the genres that I looked into
and note it down as a potential idea that could’ve been
used.
5. TIME MANAGEMENT
I could’ve managed my time a lot better than initiated,
and with that, it caused me having to use a simpler idea
rather than the complex indepth one I had planned.
Regardless of this, if I had more time to produce my
work, I would’ve continued ahead with my initial idea.
6. TECHNICAL QUALITIES -
CAMERA
The similarities of these two is that they are almost posing the same, but the
one on the right has a higher quality image and no overlays and lyrics added
overtop.
Although the images are set in different locations, they both hold the same
effect because they are both walking away from the camera.
7. TECHNICAL QUALITIES –
EDITING/POST
With these, the similarities is that they both have a faded view, so you can
see the background through the main video. Another similarity is that it
conveys the aesthetic nicely and that it makes the video pleasing to watch,
and seem creative.
Differences of these two is that the camera work of these two clips are
different, but the overall effect is still there. The one of the left is faded over
nature clips but the one on the right is faded over the last clip before it,
8. AESTHETIC QUALITIES
I think that my work looks good and is creative considering. Although I
could’ve used more different clips, I think it turned out good. I like the
lyric work and the introduction, and I think I can improve by making the
beatwork more insync and using different overlays overtop.
I think some strengths of my work is that the video looks homemade, and
fits into some aesthetics and vibes that I initiated in the planning.
Some weaknesses of my work is that it is a bit fast which can impact on
9. AUDIENCE APPEAL
I think I have appealed to my target audience by including nature shots and
shots of a female
like in the video Pretty Little Fears by J.Cole, a fellow contemporary R&B
artist. My video also
shows various different clips put together just like the After The Storm by
Tyler the Creator.
Although some of the content added into the video doesn’t match my
audience criteria, but it all
still matches the vibe I was looking for.
The standing alone shots are more found in contemporary R&B music videos,
as it shows the
viewers who the artist is, and who has created the music playing. The
overlays give it the soft
vibe that the song brings, which can entice viewers.
Music videos within this genre are often both narrative and performance due
to them having a
plot. Mainly there are close-ups or wide camera shots in order to show the
11. FEEDBACK 1
What did you like about the product?
Amy liked that the video had a gritty texture to it and had some low
quality clips in it because it broke up from the stereotypes of music
videos and looks a lot more homemade.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
Amy thinks that the introduction with the paper could’ve been faster
and I could’ve filmed different clips so that they didn’t repeat.
12. FEEDBACK 2
What did you like about the product?
Tyler liked the introduction of the music video as he hasn’t seen it
before, in music video context. He thinks that it is quite creative.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
The ending could have looked a lot better. - Tyler
13. FEEDBACK 3
What did you like about the product?
Lily likes the ending and the lyric work upon the video, she also liked
the overlays used ontop of the video.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
Lily thinks it could’ve been a bit more slower.
14. PEER FEEDBACK SUMMARY
What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
I agree with the point in feedback 1, the low-quality clips
kinda break up the video and promote the homemade
aspect of it. I also agree that the overlays upon the video
look good, it creates an aged aesthetic. In feedback 2, I
also agree that the ending of the video could’ve been a
lot better.
What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
I don’t disagree with anything from the peer feedback.
15. PEER FEEDBACK SUMMARY
The changes I would make based upon my peer feedback,
I would make the paper stopmotion video more faster and
added more pictures to make the effect look more
realistic. I would also film more clips so that it wouldn’t
be repeated and would look more professional in that
aspect.
