3. RESEARCH
The strengths of my research was that it help
me get an idea of what my music idea might
look like early on. I did mind maps to generate
ideas which help me visualize what I was going
to do. My research also help me on what music
I was going to pick and what style I was going
to do it in.
The weaknesses of my research was I don’t
think I went in enough detail and I should on
spent more time looking at different examples.
This could have affected the look of my product
and I might have done it in a different style.
5. PLANNING
The strengths of my planning was that I was
organised on the day of filming and it made
filming the music video a lot easier and it help
me put the shots in order. The shot plan and
mood made help me film and visualise the
music video.
The weaknesses of my planning was that some
of the shots I planned couldn’t be done
because of the location so I had to change
them when I was filming. This affected what the
product look like. I should have done
more research on the location
7. TIME MANAGEMENT
I think I manage the time well because I have
finished everything within the time limit. If I
had more time would reshoot some shots
which didn’t look as good. I would also edit the
video a bit more because some scene are not in
line with the beat of the song. This would
improve the product and make it a lot
smoother and a lot more pleasing to watch.
8. TECHNICAL QUALITIES -
CAMERA
The first shots are
very similar. Both
shots are close ups
of grass. I did this to
pay homage to the
official music video.
Both shots have a
something enter the
shot after the beat
drops which. In the
official one it is a
train which enters a
shot and in my
music video a person
enters a shot. I also
adding a cartoon bee
9. The ending shots
are similar aswell
both have
something leaving
off into the
distance. In the
official music video
they have the train
which was at the
start go into the
distances and in my
music video I have
the person from the
start walking off
into the distance. I
did this to pay
10. Except from the
start and end the
rest of the two
music videos are
quite different from
each other. For the
rest of the song I
used signs to show
the lyrics of the
song but in the
official music video
they show a person
sat on train looking
outside the window.
11. TECHNICAL QUALITIES –
EDITING/POST
Both music videos
have a blur effect. In
the official music
video it uses the blur
effect to create an
effect that the train is
moving fast. In
my music video I use
the blur effect as a
transition, so it looks
like a swiping motion.
12. Both music videos
have an animated
honeybee. In the
official music video
they have an
animated bee at
the start of the
music video. In my
music video I put
the bee in as
reference to the
official music video
and to pay
homage
13. AESTHETIC QUALITIES
I think my music video looks visually appealing and is
creative with the camera movement. My favorite visuals are
the cardboard signs which I put because I didn’t want any
lip syncing in the video. I could improve one scene I would
improve the bridge scene because it slows down the music
video and the shots of that scene are not very visually
appealing. I would improve by having more movement in
the bridge scene so that it doesn’t slow down the music
video and make a bit more sense.
14. AUDIENCE APPEAL
I think I have appeal to my target audience because my
music video has no inappropriate scenes for example
there are no drugs in my music video. I also pick a song
that doesn’t have any swearing in it and the song it quite
recent as well some it fits with my target audience. The
bright colours and flashy transition would appeal to my
target audience and the appealing visual also appeals to
my target audience because it's easy to watch and is not
confusing and is simple.
16. FEEDBACK 1
What did you like about the product?
I really liked how your used a variety if transitions to go with the
video.
I quite like the idea of using boards with the lyrics on to go with it.
The colour effects and bee drawing animations were pretty god as
well.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
A few of the lyrics weren’t exactly in time with the music but it’s just
a tiny little point so it doesn’t effect it much.
17. FEEDBACK 2
What did you like about the product?
The shots where well time as they were synchronised
with the music. The transitions were advanced and
effective. I like the lyrics on the cardboard and the
camera work was impressive in this section. The
transitions between monochrome and colour was
professional. Video quality was quite high.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
At 2:55 the lyrics on cardboard were the wrong way
round.
18. FEEDBACK 3
What did you like about the product?
It was very interesting, very sweet to see a bumblebee up
close, what a lucky shot!
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
Maybe a more variety of the bumblebee shots, and
maybe like the original, capture a train in the scene.
Good work though :-)
19. PEER FEEDBACK
SUMMARY
What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
I agree that some shots go on a bit too long and that
some on the scenes are not in time with the music.
What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
I don’t disagree with any peer feedback.
20. PEER FEEDBACK
SUMMARY
Based on my feedback I would shortern some scenes
because they go on to long and disrupt the flow of the
song. I would also shoot some more shots and redo one
shoot were the lyric signs are the wrong way around. This
would make the music video look more proffesional. I
another thing I would change is the timing of the scenes
so that they are in time with the music, so the video is a
lot smoother.
