MEN’S
Braxton Sides, West Texas A&M University, JR, Canyon, Texas, Canyon HS
Sides paced the Buffs with a career-best second place finish at the St. Mary’s Invita onal this week. He carded
a career-low 69 to open the tournament and finished with a 74 for a 1-under 143 in the weather-shortened
tournament. Sides helped the Buffs to a 297 in the second round as the team finished 11th. Sides’ previous
low-round was a 70.
WOMEN’S
Sarah Gee, Tarleton State University, JR, Warminster, England, Kingdown School
Gee led the TexAnns at the St. Edward’s Invita onal, finishing in a first-place e with a score of 141 (+1). Gee
led from start to finish, carding a 68 in the opening round of the tournament and a 73 in the final round. Gee
led all players with 29 pars in the tournament and had three birdies.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Harry We on, Western New Mexico, came on strong at the St. Mary’s Invita onal, saving his best for last
tallying birdies on two of his final three holes for his final round 70. He also added a birdies on hole 17 and
came away with 14 pars. Coupled with his first round 75 he finished with a 145 to e for fourth with teammates
freshmen Gonzalo Pan De Soraluce and Pedro De La Vega. We on ed for second in par-three scoring (2.88)
and led the team in par-four (4.05) and ed for the second-most pars with 27. WNMU as a team finished third.
Hagan Wood, Texas A&M University-Commerce, shot even par (73-71=144) to finish third at the Ra ler
Invita onal. The Lions shot a 286 in the second round - their best round in the last eight seasons - to finish as
the tournament team runner-up.
Shelby Turner, Western New Mexico, posted a strong second round at the CBU Invita onal as she fired a 77,
coupled with a first round 83 to finish with a 160 to e for 40th. She hit a birdie during her second hole of the
day Tuesday and later added birdies on holes three and six. WNMU as a team finished 13th.
Emily Taylor, Texas A&M University-Commerce, was the Lions’ top player at the St. Edward’s Invita onal. She
shot 154 (73-81) and finished 29th, leading A&M-Commerce to a 10th place finish.
Ma ye Mason, West Texas A&M University, fired a career-low 69 Tuesday in the final round of the St.
Edward’s Invita onal as she finished ed for third marking her best finish of her WT career. She became the
first Lady Buff to shoot in the 60s this season as she led the team to a fourth-place finish in the tournament on
round of 297 and 304 for a 601 team score. Mason was named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Tarleton women’s golf finished third at the St. Edward’s Invita onal at the Onion Creek Country Club. The
TexAnns shot a 300 in the second round for a final score of 592 (+32). Indianapolis won the tournament with a
586 (+26). Sarah Gee finished in a first-place e with Regina Gonzalez from St. Mary’s, but Gonzalez won four-
hole playoff matchup. Gee shot a 73 in the final road, finishing with a 141 (+1). Gee led all players with 29 pars
in the tournament and had three birdies. Casey Leatherman played as an individual and ed for third on the
individual leaderboard. Leatherman shot a 71 in both rounds for a 142 (+2). Leatherman finished with 24 pars
and five birdies in the two rounds. Casey Wild also had a top-10 finish, tying for 10th a er carding a 74 in both
rounds for a 148 (+8). Wild matched Leatherman for a team-best five birdies. Beatriz Prados ed for 13th a er
shoo ng a 74 and 75 for a final score of 149 (+9). Lydia Traylor ed for 29th with a 154 (+14) and Breann Smith
placed in 55th with a 163 (+23). The TexAnns will play in the Midwestern State Invita onal at the Wichita Falls
Country Club on March 13-14.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The Lion men were the runner-up at the St. Mary’s Ra ler Invita onal to start the spring. The Lions shot 286
(-2) in the second round for their best round in the last eight seasons. Their two-round total of 586 was four
strokes behind Henderson State. Hagan Wood finished third and Wilfredo Sanchez ed for fourth. The Lion
women finished 10th at the St. Edward’s Invita onal with a 636 (312-324). Emily Taylor led the Lions with a top
30 finish. The men are next in ac on at the Lubbock Chris an Chap Invita onal on March 5-6. The women host
the Lion Invita onal at the Tanglewood Resort on the shores of Lake Texoma near Po sboro on March 5-6.

The Buffs and Lady Buffs were in ac on this week as both teams had outstanding performances from a pair of
juniors...On the women’s side Ma ye Mason finished ed for third at the St. Edward’s Invita onal with a 69-73
as it marked both her best finish and a career-low round with the 69...She earned all-tournament honors as the
team finished fourth with a 601 score (297-304)...On the men’s side, Braxton Sides finished runner-up at the St.
Mary’s Invita onal with a 69 and a 74 for a 143 marking his best finish and career-low round of 69...Sides led
the Buffs to 11th in the tournament with a 297 in the second round as the team ba led back a er a horrible
first round of 312...The tournament was shortened to 36-holes, instead of 54, due to extensive rain and a four-
hour rain delay Monday prior to the first round.
Western New Mexico
The WNMU men’s golf team posted their best finish of the season placing third at the St. Mary’s Invita onal.
Harry We on, Gonzalo Pan De Soraluce and Pedro De La Vega each ed for fourth to lead the team. The
Mustangs bested seven teams ranked in the top-50 by Golfstat including #14 Dallas Bap st, #18 Central
Oklahoma, #25 St. Mary’s, #30 Southwestern Oklahoma, #31 West Texas A&M, #36 St. Edward’s and #48
Midwestern State. On the women’s side, Shelby Turner led the way placing 40th as the Lady Mustangs finished
