LSC TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP
The 2018 Lone Star Conference Menâs and Womenâs Tennis Championship will be held at the HEB Tennis Center in
Corpus Christi, Texas on April 20-21.
The Midwestern State men and women captured the LSC titles to earn the top seeds.
MSU was a perfect 3-0 in conference play on the menâs side to pick up its third LSC crown, while the Mustangs
women finished 5-1 to earn their second consecutive and fourth overall league title.
The womenâs field includes seven teams - MSU, Cameron, Tarleton State, Texas A&M-Kingsville, Angelo State, UT
Permian Basin, and Western New Mexico.
MSU is joined by CU, UTPB and WNMU in the menâs tournament.
Action starts Friday, April 20, with the womenâs quarterfinals at 10 a.m. followed by the menâs semifinals at 2 p.m.
and womenâs semifinals at 6 p.m.
Both the menâs and womenâs championship games will be played Saturday, April 21 starting at 10 a.m.
The tournament format is nine-point matches with three, eight-game Pro Sets being used for doubles and six best of
three-sets being used for singles. Six courts will be assigned to each match. The match will stop when one team reaches
5 points.

TENNIS PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
MENâS
Przemyslaw Zielinski, Cameron University, JR, Szubin, Poland
Zielinski was one of the main reasons the Cameron men closed out the season with two wins. He went 2-0 playing at No.
1 in singles, with a big 6-4, 6-0 win against No. 5 Raul Stevens of UTPB; his other win was a 6-4, 6-4 victory over
Newman's top player. Zielinski also broke in a new doubles partner Vinicius Santos and they won both of their matches
playing in the No. 1 spot last week; they won 8-1 against UTPB and 8-2 against Newman. The CU junior is now 11-6 in
singles this season and 10-8 in doubles.
WOMENâS
Mathilde Thibaudat, Cameron University, SR, Vernon, France
Thibaudat helped lead the Aggies to a 3-0 record last week as they wrapped up their regular season with wins against UT
Permian Basin, Tarleton State, and Newman. Playing at No. 2 singles, Thibaudat went 3-0 with two set wins over all
2. three of her opponents. She also went 3-0 in doubles with teammate Zhenia Shviadok; they are ranked No. 18 as a pair
in the ITA rankings. Thibaudat has now won six straight matches and is 15-5 on the season.

OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Dillon Pineda, Midwestern State University, went 1-0 in both singles and doubles last week as Midwestern State
finished the regular season of Lone Star Conference play unbeaten, taking down UT Permian Basin to win the regular
season title. With partner Nolan McCaig and ranked as the nation's 17th-doubles tandem, the Allen native bested Raul
Stevens and Jordan Minjoot, 8-3, at the No. 1 flight. Playing the No. 2 line in singles, Pineda ousted Marcos Silva, 6-4, 6-
2, to stretch the MSU lead to 6-1, just missing clinching the match by a matter of minutes.
Maddy Coffman, Midwestern State University, led Midwestern State to back-to-back regular season Lone Star
Conference titles with Friday's victory against UT Permian Basin, going 1-0 in both singles and doubles. Paired with
Ashley Ramirez, the nation's 12th-ranked doubles team routed Fernanda Orona and Maria Briones, 8-2, at the No. 1
flight to sweep doubles. Ranked 36th in singles, Coffman clinched MSU's fourth conference title in program history with
a 6-0, 6-1 decision against Orona at No. 1.
Alicia Barbaroux, Tarleton State University, pushed her singles-winning streak to five in a row after defeating
Western New Mexico's Klara Smolikova and then upsetting Cameron's No. 23-ranked Zhenia Shviadok on the road.
Barbaroux won her match at WNMU 6-4, 7-6 and then turned around two days later to win at CU 6-3, 6-2. It is
Barbaroux's second singles upset of a nationally ranked opponent in the last two weekends.
Jeanne Kolb, Western New Mexico, picked up a pair of singles wins against both Tarleton State and Texas A&M-
Kingsville playing the No. 3 spot this past weekend. She battled to three-set wins in both matches and also added a
doubles win against Texas A&M-Kingsville at the top flight with teammate Klara Smolikova. For the week she went 2-0 in
singles and 1-1 in doubles. Kolb leads the team in singles victories with eight and also leads the team in doubles wins
with six.

Both of the Cameron women's and men's tennis teams closed out the regular season with perfect weeks. The CU
women had a pair of 9-0 wins against UT Permian Basin and Newman and a 5-4 win over Tarleton State to clinch the two
seed in the LSC Tournament. The Aggie men are heading into the conference tournament following an 8-1 win over
UTPB and a 7-2 victory over the Jets.

UT Permian Basin men's and women's tennis teams each went 0-2 this past week. Both teams lost to Midwestern State
and Cameron. Raul Stevens picked up the win for the Falcons against MSU in straight sets.
