Angel Aguirre, West Texas A&M University, SO, Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico, ITESM Campus Laguna
Aguirre finished third at the TU Battle at the Beach as TPC Myrtle Beach in Murrels Inlet, S.C. this week with a
36-hole score of 148 on rounds of 72 and 76. Aguirre paced the Buffs to a fourth-place finish in the tournament
out of 10 teams and his third place finish individually was from a field of 63 golfers.
WOMEN’S
Isabel Jimenez-Perea, Tarleton State University, SR, Cobena, Spain, Ortega y Gasset
Jimenez-Perea led the TexAnns at the Tim Tierney Shootout, finishing in eighth place. Jimenez-Perea shot 74-
75 for a five-over-par 149 total in the two days. The senior had a team-high 25 pars and added two birdies.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Glory Jangthongsiri, West Texas A&M University, won her seventh individual tournament in a shortened
Texoma Chevy Dealers Invitational due to rain. Jangthongsiri paced the 64-player field with an opening round
77 at Tanglewood Golf Course in Pottsboro, Texas. She positioned the Lady Buffs in second four strokes behind
Angelo State heading into the final round. On Tuesday, the rains came and, after the field was a few holes in,
the tournament was called. It marked back-to-back tournament wins for Jangthongsiri as she set the school-
record with her sixth win at St. Edward’s Feb. 22-23.

The TexAnns matched their score from Monday and shot a 303 (+15) to card a 606 (+30) overall and claim
a third-place finish at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout. Isabel Jimenez-Perea led the TexAnns in the
tournament, finishing in eighth place. Jimenez-Perea shot a 74 and 75 (+5) in the two days. The senior had a
team-high 25 pars. Beatriz Prados improved six spots to finish in 11th with a score of 150 (+6). Prados carded
a 76 in the first round and a 74 in the second. Prados matched Jimenez-Perea with 25 pars for the team lead.
Sarah Gee had the biggest improvement of the day for Tarleton. Gee took four strokes off her score from
Monday and finished with a 75 on day two for a score of 154 (+10) and in 23rd. Casey Wild shot a 78, 79 for
a score of 157 (+13) for the tournament. Kerbey Kipp finished with a 75, 83 for a 158 (+14). Tarleton’s next
tournament will be on March 20-22 at the Otter Invitational in Seaside, Calif.

The Buffs and Lady Buffs both were in action this week as the men’s team competed at the TU Battle at
the Beach hosted by Tiffin University (Ohio) at TPC Myrtle Beach...The Buffs finished fourth as a team as
sophomore Angel Aguirre finished third with a 72, 76 for a 148 as the Buffs shot a 36-hole score of 618 on two
rounds of 309...On the women’s side, senior Glory Jangthongsiri won her seventh tournament of her career
with a 77 at the rain-shortened Texoma Chevy Dealers Invitational at Tanglewood Golf Course in Pottsboro,
Texas...Jangthongsiri was leading the 64-player field heading into the final round when the rains came just a
few holes into Tuesday’s round forcing the cancellation...She set the school-record for career wins Feb. 22-23
at St. Edward’s with six, surpassing head coach Meredith Jameson’s record of five...The Lady Buffs finished as
a team four strokes behind Angelo State with a 326 score. It was the third tournament of the spring for the
women and just the first for the men.
