After three weeks of non-conference play, Texas A&M-Kingsville and West Texas A&M remain undefeated. LSC teams will play a 10-week conference schedule where each team plays a four-game series against every other team to determine the LSC Champion. Several LSC teams had strong performances last week, including Elias Aguirre who hit .556 for Angelo State and Seth Hubert who threw a shutout for Texas A&M-Kingsville. West Texas A&M and Texas A&M-Kingsville remain undefeated at 9-0 and 6-0 respectively. Conference play begins in weeks 5-7.
1. LSC BASEBALL
After three weeks of non-conference play, Texas A&M-Kingsville and West Texas A&M are undefeated. Non-
conference play continues this week.
LSC teams are playing a 10-week schedule with a four-game series against every other team during weeks
8-14 determining the LSC Champion. Conference series scheduled weeks 5-7 will not count toward the league
standings. Each four-game series shall consist of a 9-inning game Friday, a 7x7 doubleheader Saturday and
9-inning contest Sunday.
LSC baseball teams are 53-6 overall this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the teams are currently
14-2 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 5-1 against the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
HITTER
Elias Aguirre, Angelo State University, JR, OF, Midland, Texas , Midland Christian
Aguirre was an on-base machine for the Rams in a series sweep over No. 6 Lubbock Christian. The junior hit
.556 and collected five hits as well as one walk and a pair of hit-by-pitches, getting on base eight times in the
series. Four of those times, he came around to score for a team-high four runs on the weekend and he also
drove in four runs from the plate.
PITCHER
Seth Hubert, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, JR, RHP, Riviera, Texas, Riviera Kaufer
Hubert tossed a gem in the Houston Winter Invitational opener, allowing just one hit in 8.0 shutout innings and
picking up the victory over Chico State Friday at Minute Maid Park... Hubert struck out five and stymied the
Wildcats all afternoon as the Hogs improved to then 4-0 after Friday’s victory... on the year, Hubert, a transfer
out of Western Texas JC, is 2-0 and has allowed just two hits in 14.0 innings of work.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Tyler Houlihan, UT Permian Basin, helped the Falcons to a 2-1 weekend mark over Texas A&M International.
The senior third baseman drove in a pair of runs and scored three times, and recorded the series-winning RBI
in the bottom of the ninth on Saturday.
Anthony Acevedo, Cameron University, led CU at the plate in their three wins over William Jewell last
weekend. He hit .556 with a .889 slugging percentage. In game one, he was 1-3 with an RBI, and then followed
that up with three hits in game four. Acevedo then drove in three in the 9-8 game three win, with two coming
off of a two run homer. He is now hitting .324 on the season with eight RBI and two homers.
Christian Caudle, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, started all three games behind the plate at Minute Maid
Park and hit .500 with a double, three runs scored and five RBI... the junior backstop drove in a career-high five
and finished 3-for-4 from the plate in the 14-4 run-ruled victory over #RV St. Mary’s Sunday that clinched the
best start in school history for the Hogs (6-0)... showing impressive plate discipline, Caudle also picked up four
walks to increase his season total to 11... he has reached base safely in all six games in 2017
Luis Amaro, West Texas A&M University, had an outstanding week once again as he hit .500 on 5 of 10 from
the plate with three runs scored, one double and home run, while driving in a team-high eight in the series
sweep of Oklahoma Panhandle State. He was one of six different Buffs to hit a home run in the series and one
of five to have an extra-base hit and a home run. Amaro had 17 put outs in 19 chances with no errors in three
starts this weekend. For the season he has played in all nine games with eight starts and is hitting .419 with
seven runs scored, 13 hits, two doubles, one home run and a team-high 19 RBI.
Jake Hasbrouck, Tarleton State University, had a huge weekend on the big league stage as the Tarleton first
baseman hit .417 in three games with two monstrous home runs and six RBIs at Minute Maid Park. Hasbrouck
went 5-for-12 at the plate with four of his hits going for extra bases. Hasbrouck had four RBIs in the first game
against St. Mary’s and wrapped up the Winter Invitational with a home run and a double against Arkansas-Fort
Smith. He also led the team with a 1.083 slugging percentage.
Kameron Mathis, UT Permian Basin, earned his first career win in three relief innings in a 3-2 win over Texas
A&M International. Mathis gave up a hit and a walk each in blanking the Dustdevils over three innings.
Joe Hauser, Angelo State University, slammed the door shut on No,. 6 Lubbock Christian twice in one
weekend, earning his second and third save of the year against the Chaparrals. On Saturday, the senior came
in with the Rams up just one run an pitched 2.2 innings of scoreless relief while giving up just one hit. Hauser
came back out for the ninth inning on Sunday with the Rams up only one run again and promptly sat down the
first three Chaps he saw on nine pitches earning his second save in two days.
Colby Fowler, Tarleton State University, who spent the first two weeks of his Tarleton career coming out
of the bullpen, earned his first career start against Central Missouri, who entered the game ranked No. 2 in
the nation by NCBWA and No. 3 in the nation by Collegiate Baseball News, and the junior from Brock did not
disappoint. Fowler threw five innings and left with a lead against the Mules after allowing just one hit and
striking out five. He also held Central Missouri to an .067 batting average over his five innings of work.
Reid Garrett, Cameron University, pitched a complete nine innings on the mound en route to the Aggies’ 5-1
win over William Jewell on Feb. 17. The junior from Richmond, Texas held the Cardinals hit-less until the fifth
inning and allowed just five hits and one run during the game while striking out four batters to earn the win.”
Ryan Larison, West Texas A&M University, pitched the final game of a three-game series against Oklahoma
Panhandle State as the Buffs won 12-2 in a run-rule game in seven innings. Larison earned his first win as a

The Aggie baseball team moved to 10-1 on the season with a three game sweep of William Jewell last week.
In game one, CU scored four runs in the first inning and one more in the seventh, while Reid Garrett pitched
a complete game with just one run given up on five hits with four strikeouts. In game two of the series, CU
trailed 2-0 from the first inning until the ninth, when a passed ball scored their first run of the game and then
Victor DeJesus’s second grand slam of the season ended the game 5-2 in favor of Cameron. Game three was a
high scoring affair, as both teams scored two runs in the first, then WJC took the lead in the fourth with a five
run inning, and CU matched that with two of their own. The difference came when the Aggies struck for five in
their half of the seventh to give them the 9-8 lead. Anthony Acevedo and Cole Williams each had three RBI in
the win.
Eastern New Mexico
Did not play last week.
Tarleton State
Tarleton went 2-1 at the Houston Winter Invitational with wins over St. Mary’s and Arkansas-Fort Smith. The
only loss came in extra innings to Central Missouri, who entered the game ranked No. 2 by the NCBWA and No.
3 by Collegiate Baseball News. The Texans are back in Stephenville this weekend to host a three-game series
with Fort Smith.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
The Javelinas improved to 6-0 with three wins at the Houston Winter Invitational in Minute Maid Park... the 6-0
start is the best start in school history... the starting rotation combined to allow just four runs in 18.1 innings.
UT Permian Basin
UT Permian Basin baseball picked up a 2-1 series win over Texas A&M International with a series-winning 3-2
Saturday win in the ninth inning. Chris Cano and Kameron Mathis each picked up wins for the Falcons on the
weekend, Tyler Houlihan led UTPB with eight hits, and Doug Clapperton and Jordan Zazulak each homered and
drove in four runs.
West Texas A&M
The Buffs improved to 9-0 with a series sweep of Oklahoma Panhandle State this week as the team outscored
the Aggies 47-4, recording 46 hits, 13 doubles, three triples, six home runs and driving in 46 runs as the team
hit .484 for the series....The Buffs had 12 players hit .300 or better in at least two games as six different Buffs
had long balls and WT tallied 22 extra-base hits total...WT went 2 for 2 in stolen bases and reached base at a
.558 clip and slugged .874, while committing just four errors leading to one unearned run...The staff dominated
the Aggies as all three starters earned wins...WT put up a season-high 22 runs in a 22-1 series-opener on Friday,
marking the second time this season WT has scored 20 or more runs in a game...The staff had a 1.29 ERA in 21
innings, allowing 15 hits, four runs - three earned, walked four and fanned 29 as OPSU hit just .195 against WT...
The Buffs’ 9-0 start is the best in program history and the team concludes a 7-game home stand Tuesday with
nationally ranked Lubbock Christian visiting Wilder Park at 6 p.m.
