LSC BASKETBALL
Midwestern State and West Texas A&M head into the last week of play with a one-game advantage in the Lone
Star Conference men’s and women’s standings, respectively.
MSU has clinched a share of its ninth LSC title as the Mustangs have won seven LSC titles over the last 10
seasons. WT has earned a share of its third straight and 13th overall LSC crown.
This week’s games will determine a majority of the postseason seeding with only Texas A&M-Commerce set
as the No. 6 seed on the men’s side at this point.
The MSU at Cameron doubleheader will be broadcast on ESPN3 as the NCAA Division II Basketball Games of
the Week.
The LSC champion will be the regular season winner determined by league games, while the postseason
tournament winner is designated as LSC Tournament Champion and earns the conference’s automatic
qualification.
The LSC men have a 128-77 overall record so far this season. In the NCAA South Central Region, the men’s
teams are currently 13-9 combined versus Heartland Conference teams and 12-8 against the Rocky Mountain
Athletic Conference.
The LSC women are 125-103 overall. The women’s squads are currently 20-14 combined against the
Heartland, and 8-6 versus RMAC teams, which are the other conferences in the NCAA South Central Region.
LSC BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP TICKETS ON SALE
The Lone Star Conference Basketball Championship returns for the fifth year to Allen, Texas in 2016. The
tournament will feature eight men’s and eight women’s teams and is scheduled for an exciting four-day run
from March 2-5 at the Allen Event Center.
Tournament action starts with first-round games on Wednesday, March 2 and Thursday, March 3. The
semifinals will be played Friday, March 4. On Saturday, March 5, fans can see both the women’s and men’s
championship games at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Advance tickets are now on sale at LSC member institutions with adult all-session passes $15 off the regular
price until March 1.
Fans can save $15 off the regular price for all-session passes and avoid fees by making an on-campus advance
purchase. The adult all-session ticket grants access to all seven sessions at a reduced rate of $45. The adult
price increases to $60 for all-session tickets or $15 per session for those not purchased through LSC schools by
March 1.
Student single-session tickets are $10 at participating schools and the Allen Event Center Box Office for
University students with valid school I.D. (any institution) or children ages 2-18.

Alston averaged 18 points and nine rebounds a game to lead No. 22 Midwestern State to wins over Texas
A&M-Kingsville and No. 16 Angelo State last week to clinch at least a share of its ninth Lone Star Conference
championship. The 6-4, 240-pound senior notched his 10th double-double of the season with 17 points and
11 rebounds in 31 minutes in Saturday’s 76-71 win over Angelo State. The performance came on the heels of
an historic 27-point, 25-rebound effort earlier this season against the Rams in San Angelo. Alston paced the
Mustangs to an 81-63 win at Texas A&M-Kingsville earlier in the week scoring 19 points on 9-of-14 shooting
while pulling in seven boards in 25 minutes. Alston continues to lead the LSC in rebounding at 9.4 boards per
game and is 11th in scoring at 13.6 points per game.

Fuller set Lone Star Conference and school records with 11 blocked shots while leading 22nd-ranked
Midwestern State to a win over No. 16-ranked Angelo State Saturday to clinch at least a share of MSU’s ninth
league title. The 6-8, 235-pound senior from Dallas needed just 20 minutes to match former All-America Eric
Dawson’s school record of eight blocked shots set on Dec., 2, 2006 against Southeastern Oklahoma State. Fuller
swatted three more shots in the second half to eclipse the former LSC mark of 10 originally authored by East
Central’s Ian Adams (vs. Texas A&M-Commerce, 2005) and West Texas A&M’s Carlos Silva (vs. Southwestern
Oklahoma, 2004). The 11 blocked shots are the third most in NCAA Division II this season behind the 14 set by
West Alabama’s Dakari Mayo and 12 by Florida Southern’s Jarel Spellman. Fuller raised his season block total
to 83 and needs 13 more to match the school single season record of 96 set by Eric Dawson during the 2006-07
season. He is averaging 3.92 blocked shots per game (51 blocks in 13 games) during league play.
WOMEN’S OFFENSIVE
Kenesha Saygo, Texas Woman’s University, JR, Guard, Killeen, Texas, Killeen Ellison HS
Saygo averaged a team-best 22.5 points while shooting 62.1 percent from the floor including 52.9 percent from
the three-point range and helped the Pioneers to a 2-0 record last week. She scored a game-high 14 points in
a road win against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Thursday and then single-handedly knocked off Angelo State with

a career-high 31 points on Sunday. Saygo made 9 of 14 three pointers (one shy of single game school record)
against Rambelles. After ASU took a 39-38 halftime lead, TWU opened the third quarter with a 16-0 run with
Saygo scoring 12 of the 16 points. In the third and fourth quarters she shot 7-for-9 from the floor and 5-for-6
from three including 5-for-5 (4-for-4 from the three) in the key third quarter. On the season, Saygo is the team
leader in scoring (11.7 ppg) and 3FG (.381).
WOMEN’S DEFENSIVE
Bailey Wipff, Tarleton State University, JR, Guard, Lubbock, Texas, Coronado HS
Wipff’s defensive presence went way beyond the numbers for Tarleton last weekend as the junior from
Lubbock keyed Tarleton’s resurgence in the second half to erase a 16-point, second-half deficit Saturday night
to defeat No. 9 West Texas A&M and deliver Tarleton’s seventh consecutive victory. She may have only had four
rebounds, two assists, and one steal, but Wipff took the responsibility of guarding the LSC Preseason Player of
the Year and Preseason All-American Sasha Watson with eight seconds left on the clock and Tarleton leading
by one at 53-52 in Wisdom Gym. She forced Watson into a miss as the buzzer expired to give Tarleton the win.
Wipff shared the defensive responsibility of WT’s guards, who entered the game averaging a combined 23.4
points per game on a combined .499 shooting percentage from the floor, and helped hold the duo below their
season average for scoring and shooting percentage from the field for the game. She anchored the Tarleton
defense that held opponents to 56.0 points per game. In the West Texas A&M game, Wipff and the Tarleton
defense held the Lady Buffs to single-digit scoring in the first and fourth quarters, including a .333 shooting clip
in the second half of Tarleton’s comeback win.
MEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
David Chavlovich, West Texas A&M University, had another big week for the Buffs as the LSC’s leading scorer
averaged 23.5 points per contest with a 28 point performance against Texas A&M-Commerce in WT’s final
home game of the season before dropping 19 on Saturday night in Stephenville. Chavlovich went 13-of-30
(.433) from the floor including 6-of-15 (40%) from deep and 15-of-16 (93.8%) from the charity stripe to go along
with six assists and a steal.
Tre Bennett , Angelo State University, continued to lead the Rams offense this week scoring a total of 42
points for the week as they split a pair of games. Against Cameron the senior point guard led the team with 19
points, hitting 7-of-14 from the field, 3-of-8 from deep and a perfect 2-of-2 from the stripe. During this game
he added six assists to his conference leading 128 total. He then closed out the week with his seventh 20 plus
point performance, scoring a team high 23 points against Midwestern State. He was 8-of-15 from the inside the
arc, a stellar 6-of-10 from 3-point range and 1-for-1 from the line. Defensively, he pocketed two steals to add to
his tot numbers for the game.
DJ Weathers, Texas A&M University - Kingsville, had 27 points to lead the Javelinas to a victory over Cameron
University Saturday... the senior shot 50 percent from three-point range as Kingsville moved into seventh place
in the LSC.
Ronnie White, Texas A&M University - Commerce, led the Lions to a 1-1 week while averaging 17.5 points per
game. White opened the week by narrowly missing the school’s single-game record for field goal percentage
by going 7-of-7 from the floor in the Lions 93-84 loss at West Texas. White needed just one more shot attempt
to meet the minimum to qualify. His only miss in the game came at the free throw line where he went 4-of-
5. White followed that up with another 17 points after going 6-of-9 in the Lions 81-73 win over Eastern New
Mexico. For the week White shot sizzling 81.3 percent. White averages 67.1 percent from the field on the
season.
Michael Hardge, Tarleton State University, led Tarleton to a pair of wins during the week over Eastern New
Mexico and West Texas A&M. Hardge was the facilitator in helping the Texans drain 14 3-pointers in an 83-53
rout against ENMU. Hardge had 12 points and a game-high six assists in the win. On senior night against West
Texas A&M, Hardge tied a career high with 21 points with 3 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists. Hardge moved into
fourth place on Tarleton’s career assists list with 320 in his four years.
Romond Jenkins, Tarleton State University, helped Tarleton to a pair of wins during the week over Eastern
New Mexico and West Texas A&M by limiting the two teams to only 33 percent shooting and outscoring
opponents by 17.5 points in the two wins. Jenkins almost averaged a double-double with 12.5 points and nine
rebounds per game. Jenkins has at least nine rebounds in four straight games. Jenkins also blocked a pair of
shots and has at least one block in six straight games. Jenkins and the Texans limited ENMU to only 17 first-half
points in the 30-point rout and built a 25-point lead against West Texas A&M.
Omari Gudul, Angelo State University, continued to be a rock for the ASU defense this week as he pulled
down a total of 17 boards to remain first on the team and fourth in the conference. This included a 12 rebound
performance that led to his fifth double-double of the year against Cameron. He then followed that up grabbing
five rebounds against Midwestern State. He also led the team adding a pair of steals to his numbers for the
game.
WOMEN’S OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Whitney Taylor, Midwestern State University, continued to shine for Midwestern State last week, averaging
20.5 points with a career-high 26 (8-of-17) coming in a road win over Texas A&M-Kingsville. The Melissa native
notched her fourth 20-point game of the season and second straight against the Javelinas, connecting on a
career-best five three-pointers (5-of-9) in the process. Taylor reached double figures for the 13th time in the
last 14 games Saturday in an 83-77 loss to Angelo State at home with 15 points, shooting 5-of-9 from the field
and 3-of-6 from behind the arc while leading the Mustangs with seven boards.
Taylor Dorsey, Angelo State University, led the Belles to a 2-1 record in a tough stretch of three games in five
days. The junior scored 19.3 points per game and collected 7.3 rebounds per game. She scored a career high
37 points in a win over MSU. The 37 points is the tied for fifth most in a single game in school history. The Fort
Worth native was 12-for-18 from the field and a perfect 6-for-6 from behind the arc. The six 3-pointers is the
seventh most in a single game. On Sunday, she recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 12 points
and 10 assists.

Sarah Stinnett, Eastern New Mexico University,
continued her strong play for the Greyhounds and
averaged 16 points with five rebounds per game.
She had 17 points, six boards and four assists against
Tarleton State. Later in the week, she registered 15
points at Texas A&M-Commerce.
Artaejah Gay, Texas A&M University - Commerce,
led the Lions in scoring with 13.5 points per game as
they split this week with one loss against West Texas
A&M and one win against Eastern New Mexico. Gay
shot over 50 percent from the floor in both games
and had a team high of 15 points against Eastern New
Mexico.
Breanna Fuller, Tarleton State University, averaged
10 points per game, going for double figure scoring in
each of Tarleton’s wins last week to lift the TexAnns
to their seventh consecutive win. Fuller scored 10.0
points per game and averaged 5.5 rebounds per
game on .714 shooting from the floor to lead Tarleton
past Eastern New Mexico and No. 9 West Texas A&M.
Sasha Watson, West Texas A&M University,
averaged 9.0 points this week as the Lady Buffs went
1-1. She went 6 of 16 from the field (.375) and went
6 of 7 from the line, while leading the team with 11
assists and recorded four steals. She averaged 28
minutes in the two games and averaged 3.5 rebounds.
Brittany Adams, Texas A&M University -
Commerce, played big in the paint this week and
has become an asset off of the bench for the Lions.
Against West Texas A&M and Eastern New Mexico,
Adams recorded eight points and two blocks in
each game. Adams led the Lions in blocks and was
a big contributor to the 35.3 field goal percentage of
opponents this past week.
Alexis Nezianya, Texas Woman’s University,
averaged a team-best 10.0 rebounds and 75.0
percent from the floor to help the Pioneers to a 2-0
record. She cleared a game-high 11 rebounds in the
road win at Texas A&M-Kingsville and then grabbed
a team-best nine rebounds in the win against Angelo
State. Nezianya recorded six of TWU’s 31 offensive
rebounds that led to 34 second chance points in the
two games including 21 points against ASU. On the
season she is averaging 6.0 rebounds including 7.4
against conference foes.
Jasmine Prophet, Angelo State University, was key
in helped the Belles to go 2-1 during a tough stretch
of three games in five days. The junior tabbed 8.7
rebounds per game including 10 against TWU. She
collected 10 offensive rebounds and 16 defensive
rebounds in the three games. The Jackson, Mississippi
native also added 14.0 points per game. She scored in
double figures in all three games including 16 against
MSU and TWU.
Mikaehla Connor, Eastern New Mexico University,
registered a strong performance on defense for the
Greyhounds last week. She blocked three shots and
pulled down six defensive rebounds in games against
Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Commerce. Against the
Lions, she poured in a career-best 18 points, grabbed
six rebounds, blocked two shots and recorded a steal.
Zantaya Davis, West Texas A&M University, led the
team with seven steals and had one block which gave
her 37 for the season moving her into a tie for 10th
all-time in a season in blocked shots. Davis shot 5 of
14 from the field (.357) and 4 of 4 from the line, while
averaging 6.5 rebounds per game as the Lady Buffs
went 1-1 this week.

Midwestern State clinched a share of its ninth Lone
Star Conference championship with wins over Texas
A&M-Kingsville and No. 16 Angelo State last week to
improve to 20-5 on the season and 9-4 in LSC play...
The Mustangs have won seven LSC titles over the
last 10 seasons... Since joining the LSC for the 1996-
97 season, MSU has claimed more than twice as
many titles as any other league school with nine as
Tarleton State and Central Oklahoma have won four
and West Texas A&M has three while Texas A&M-
Commerce and Northeastern State both claimed
one title... MSU has won at least 20 games in each
of the last eight seasons which is the longest run in
the Lone Star Conference... The Mustangs improved
to 12-11 against nationally ranked opponents during
the Nelson Haggerty era (since 2011)... Junior
forward Trevor Fuller set LSC and program single-
game records with 11 blocked shots in MSU’s 76-71
win over Angelo State Saturday night... Fuller’s 11
blocks were one better than the former record of
10 blocks set by East Central’s Ian Adams (vs. A&M-
Commerce, 2005) and West Texas A&M’s Carlos Silva
(vs. Southwestern Oklahoma, 2004) and were three
more than MSU’s previous mark of eight blocks set

Tarleton improved to 19-7 overall and in a 4-way
tie for second in the Lone Star Conference with an
8-5 record. The Texans have won three straight and
swept its two games last week with an 83-53 win on
the road at Eastern New Mexico and knocking off
West Texas A&M, the No. 9 team in the region, 87-
82. Tarleton will close the regular season out at Texas
A&M-Commerce on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The Lions recorded their 60th win in the last three
seasons after recording 19 wins in 2013-14, 24 in
2014-15 and currently sitting on 17 in 2015-16.
A&M-Commerce will enter the Lone Star Conference
Tournament as the sixth seed.
Texas A&M-Kingsville
Texas A&M-Kingsville went 1-1 last week after
defeating Cameron behind DJ Weather’s 27 points
and Troy Jones’ fourth double-double of the season...
with the victory, the Javelinas moved to seventh place
in the LSC... the Hogs close out the regular season
hosting Angelo State Feb. 27.
West Texas A&M
The Buffs went 1-1 this past week as they rolled
Texas A&M-Commerce (93-84) on Wednesday night
in Canyon followed by a 87-82 loss in Stephenville
against Tarleton State on Saturday night. The Buffs
will now wait a week before their final regular season
contest as they travel West down Highway 60 for
a rivalry matchup with the Eastern New Mexico
Greyhounds next Saturday night with tipoff set for
8:30 p.m. CT. at Greyhound Arena. The Buffs rolled
the Hounds (97-64) back on January 30th in Canyon,
ENMU fell to Texas A&M-Commerce (73-81) on
Saturday night in Commerce, Texas.

The Eastern New Mexico University women’s
basketball team dropped hard-fought decisions to
Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Commerce last week.
Sarah Stinnett continued to lead the team offensively,
and averaged 16 points per game. Mikaehla Connor
was close behind and averaged 11 points per game,
which included a season-high 18 point performance
at Texas A&M-Commerce. Eastern will conclude the
regular season on Saturday, when it hosts West Texas
A&M.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State came away with its first road win
of the 2015-16 season Wednesday over Texas A&M-
Kingsville while dropping a tight contest at home to
Angelo State to move to 5-20 overall and 4-11 in the
LSC. Sophomore guard Whitney Taylor averaged 20.5
points on the week behind a career-high 26 points and
five triples against the Javelinas. Sophomore guards

Tarleton State
Tarleton extended its winning streak to seven in a row
with wins over Eastern New Mexico and No. 9 West
Texas A&M. The TexAnns will wrap up the regular
season next Saturday at Texas A&M-Commerce at 4
p.m.

The Lions split this week with a loss against West
Texas A&M and a win over Eastern New Mexico. The
win over the Greyhounds confirms the first winning
season for the Lions since the 2008-09 season. The

Texas A&M-Kingsville went 0-3 last week with losses
to Midwestern State, Texas Woman’s and Cameron...
the Javelinas close out the season at home, hosting
Angelo State Feb. 27.
Texas Woman’s
TWU posted a 2-0 record last week to record its
second 20-win season in school history. The Pioneers
are now 20-7 on the season and 10-5 in the Lone Star
Conference. TWU’s last 20-win season came during
2010-11 when the Pioneers posted a 22-11 record,
captured the LSC Championship and advanced to
the only NCAA Tournament in program history. TWU
captured a 66-55 win in its final road game of the
regular season on Thursday at Texas A&M-Kingsville
and then knocked off Angelo State, 77-70. Junior
Kenesha Saygo led all players with 14 points against
the Javelinas while sophomore Alexis Nezianya added
nine points and cleared a game-high 11 rebounds.
Junior Taylor Nolan came off the bench and added 10
points. Against the Rambelles, Saygo scored a career-
high 31 points on 11-for-17 shooting including 9-for-
14 from the three-point range. The nine threes are
one shy of a single-game school record. Junior Deja
Pointer also added 13 points. For the week Saygo
averaged 22.5 points while shooting 62.1 percent
from the floor and 52.9 percent from the three.
Nezianya averaged 10.0 rebounds and shot 75.0
percent from the floor. On the season Saygo is the
team leader in scoring (11.7 points) and 3FG (.381).
Junior Erin Maxwell leads the Pioneers in rebounds
(8.1 rpg) and blocks while freshman Kara Mitchell has
a team-best 55 assists and 39 steals.
West Texas A&M
The West Texas A&M Lady Buff women’s basketball
team went 1-1 this week with a 63-58 win over Texas
A&M-Commerce and a heartbreaking 53-52 loss
at Tarleton State...WT still has a chance to win the
outright LSC regular season title with a win Saturday
at Eastern New Mexico...It’d be the third-straight LSC
regular season title for the Lady Buffs...WT has lost
three games this season, matching the losing of each
of the last two seasons...Since the 2013-14 season,
WT is 85-9 and 105-20 over the last four years...
WT is 42-5 in the last three years in regular season
conference games...The Lady Buffs blew a 16-point,
second half lead at Tarleton State Saturday as the
Lady Buffs were outscored 25-13 in the third quarter
and 35-21 for the second half after leading 31-18 at
half...WT has been outscored 270-262 in the third
quarter in conference play this season which is the
only quarter the Lady Buffs have been outscored...
Overall, it is the closest quarter as WT leads 465-
423...WT has outscored its opposition for the season
in the fourth quarter 500-360 for the largest margin
and the first quarter in conference play at 236-172...
If the Lady Buffs lose at ENMU and Angelo State wins
at TAMUK, the Lady Buffs and Rambelles would share
the conference regular season title and WT would be
the No. 2-seed in the LSC championship as ASU won
both meetings this season.

MEN’S BASKETBALL ELITE EIGHT
The NCAA awarded the 2016 Division II Men’s
Basketball Elite Eight to the city of Frisco, Texas.
The Lone Star Conference and Frisco Convention &
Visitors Bureau will host the event March 23-24-26.
The Elite Eight will take place in the state of Texas
for the first time ever at Dr Pepper Arena, a multi-
