GOLFERS OF THE WEEK
MEN’S
Jared Baker, Midwestern State University, SR, Holliday, Texas, Holliday HS
Baker carded scores of 68, 67 and 68 for a 7-under-par 203 total to win UA-Fort Smith’s Lions Classic by two
strokes. The Holliday High product claimed his third career win and second of the season with three consecu ve
rounds in the 60s which gives him 10 for his career. Baker extended his remarkable run through the spring
lowering his stroke average to 69.81 over 11 rounds during the 2017 calendar year. Baker has played nine of his
11 rounds during the spring semester at par or be er pos ng scores in the 60s five mes during the run. He
also matched MSU’s low 54-hole mark matching former teammate Derek Oland, who fired a 10-under 203 at
the West Florida Argonaut Invita onal in 2014.
CO-WOMEN’S
Anya Anders, Texas A&M University-Commerce, JR, Carrollton, Texas, Creekview HS
Anders shot the second-lowest 36-hole score in school history on the way to runner-up honors at the Mustang
Intercollegiate on Tuesday. Anders’ score of 142 (71-71, 2-under par) is the lowest score by a Lion since Chantry
McMahan’s 141 at the 2014 UCO Classic. This is only the second 36-hole score below par in the program’s
history. Her seven birdies in the tournament put her at 44 for the season, which es McMahan’s school record
season in 2013-14.
Casey Wild, Tarleton State University, JR, Wodonga, Australia, Wodonga Senior Secondary College
Wild shot a 2-under par 70 on the final day to finish in a three-way e for second on the individual leaderboard
at the Mustang Intercollegiate. Wild, the No. 14-ranked player in NCAA Division II according to GolfStat.com,
shot a 72 in the opening round and finished with a 142 (-2). Wild had six birdies and a team-high 26 pars in the
two rounds. It’s the sixth top-10 finish for Wild this season and es her best finish of the season.
OTHER TOP PERFORMERS
Dario Gabriel, Cameron University, helped the CU men secure a fi h place finish at the UAFS Lion Classic
this past week. He shot a 210 for the 54-hole event and had a low round of 67 during the second round of play.
Gabriel totaled 10 birdies and 35 pars and finished with a five under par score on the par-5 holes. His fi h place
finish, was the second top-5 of his CU career and 10th 10-ten finish.
Brenda Dominguez, Western New Mexico, put together yet another strong round sinking a pair of birdies
on holes 11 and 17, while adding 11 pars as she finished with a 75, a er opening with a 74 for a 149 to e for
22nd at the Mustang Intercollegiate. She led the team in par-four scoring at 4.10 and ed with Shelby Turner in
par-five scoring at 4.88. She led the team in pars with 23 and ed with Turner for the most birdies with four.
Caroline Christensen, Cameron University, helped the Aggies to a sixth place finish at the WNMU Mustang
Intercollegiate, as she placed fi h with a 36-hole score of 143. Christensen shot a 73 in round one of the event
and then ed for the second lowest round of the day in round two with a 70. That 70 was boosted by four
birdies and an eagle that helped her reach her one under score for the tournament. Christensen recorded
seven birdies overall and shot one under on the par-4 holes. This was her third top-5 finish of the season.
Ma ye Mason, West Texas A&M University, paced the Lady Buffs to a runner-up team finish at the Mustang
Intercollegiate this week as the team shot a season-low 584 score for 36-holes, including a season-low 289
round Tuesday. Mason and the No. 28 Lady Buffs defeated No. 4 Tarleton State by two strokes for the first win
over the TexAnns this season. Mason carded rounds of 73 and 70 for a 1-under 143 for the tournament finishing
ed for fi h. She birdied three holes, including No. 18 to secure second place for the team.

The Aggie women’s golf team finished in sixth at the Mustang Intercollegiate, a er shoo ng a 36-hole score of
605, while the Cameron men record a fi h place finish at the UAFS Lion Classic, finishing the 54-hole event with
a 861. Caroline Christensen and Dario Gabriel both had top-5 finishes.
Midwestern State
Midwestern State won its second tournament of the season and 12th overall since bring back its men’s golf
program in 2006 Tuesday at the Arkansas-Fort Smith Lions Classic... The Mustangs set a program 54-hole
low total with an 8-under 832... MSU played its lowest single round with a sparkling 12-under 268 in the
second round... The Mustangs won by 26 strokes over St. Mary’s which currently tops the South Central Region
rankings... Senior Jared Baker claimed his second individual tle of the year matching the program’s individual
54-hole low with a 7-under 203... Sophomore Clayton Meyers logged his first collegiate Top 10 finish with a
3-under 207... Meyers delivered MSU’s low round of the season firing a 7-under 63 in the second round...
Senior Thomas Smith claimed his second Top 10 finish of the season firing a 1-under 209 to take fourth... All
eight of Midwestern’s team countable tallies over the final two rounds of the Lions Classic were par-or-be er...

2. Tarleton State
Tarleton women’s golf moved up two spots on the final day of the Mustang Intercollegiate to finish third at
the Palm Valley Golf Club. The TexAnns improved their scorecard by 10 strokes from yesterday, finishing with
a 586 (+10). All five TexAnn golfers moved up on the individual leaderboard in the final round. Tarleton shot a
298 on Monday and a 288 this a ernoon. California Bap st won the tournament with a 577 (+1). The TexAnns
have finished in the top three in eight of the nine tournaments this season. Casey Wild shot a 2-under par 70
on the final day to finish in a three-way e for second on the individual leaderboard. Wild, the No. 14-ranked
player in NCAA Division II according to GolfStat.com, shot a 72 in the opening round and finished with a 142
(-2). Wild had six birdies and 26 pars in the two rounds. It’s the sixth top-10 finish for Wild this season and
es her best finish of the season. Sarah Gee also finished under par on Tuesday, carding a 71 (-1) to move up
six spots and e for 10th. Gee had a 74 (+2) on Monday to finish with a 145 (+1). Gee had a team-best seven
birdies - including four straight in the final round from hole No. 9 through No. 12 - and also had 22 pars. It’s the
fi h top-10 finish of the season for Gee. Beatriz Prados shot even par in the final round to climb nine spots
on the individual leaderboard and place ed for 14th. Prados, who shot a 75 (+3) on Monday, recorded a 72
on the a ernoon to finish with a score of 147 (+3). Prados sank six birdies and had 21 pars. It’s the seventh
top-20 finish of the season for Prados. Lydia Traylor improved her score by a stroke on Tuesday to finish with
a 153 (+9) and ed for 33rd. Traylor had rounds of 77 (+5) and 76 (+4). Traylor finished with 23 pars and three
birdies. Casey Leatherman had the biggest jump of any TexAnn, climbing 14 spots to e for 37th with a 154
(+10). Leatherman had a 79 (+7) in the first round and a 75 (+3) on Tuesday. Leatherman eagled the first hole,
a 295-yard par 4, and was one of four players to eagle a hole in the tournament. Leatherman had 21 pars and
a birdie to go with the eagle. As a team, Tarleton had the third-most pars in the tournament with 113 and was
second with 23 birdies. The TexAnns will compete at the Lone Star Conference Championships in Frisco on April
24-25.
Texas A&M-Commerce
The Lion men have already completed their regular season. Anya Anders shot the second-lowest 36-hole
score in school history on the way to runner-up honors at the Western New Mexico Mustang Intercollegiate on
Tuesday. Anders’ score of 142 (71-71, 2-under par) is the lowest score by a Lion since Chantry McMahan’s 141
at the 2014 UCO Classic. This is only the second 36-hole score below par in the program’s history. As a team,
the Lions finished with a score of 620 (307-313, +44). Emily Taylor finished in a e for 14th place with a 147
(72-75, +3) for her second-best score of the season and her fourth top 20 finish this year. Makena Thomas ed
for 69th at 161, Emily White ed for 92nd at 171, and Celeste Emeo placed 97th with a 175. Compe ng as an
individual, Marisa Delgado ed for 87th at 167. The Lions wrap up their regular season with a scoring average
of 316.96, which bests the previous school record by 1.77 strokes per round, with the two rounds of the Lone
Star Conference Championship s ll to play. A&M-Commerce’s next ac on is in the 2017 Lone Star Conference
Championship at Frisco Lakes Golf Course on April 24-25.

The No. 28 West Texas A&M Lady Buffs finished second at the Mustang Intercollegiate this week with a 584
score on rounds of 295 and 289...The Lady Buffs’ 36-hole score of 584 was a season-best, as was the 289 fired
in the second round...WT junior Ma ye Mason paced the team finishing ed for fi h with a 1-under 143 on
rounds of 73 and 70...WT defeated No. 4 Tarleton State by two strokes for the first win over the TexAnns this
season as No. 5 Cal Bap st won the 19-team tournament...All of the five Lady Buff golfers finished in the top
25 with the dropped score each round being a 77...The Lady Buffs return home to prepare for the Lone Star
Conference championship April 24-25 at Frisco Lakes Golf Club in Frisco, Texas.
