Mind Map
Advertisement for coca cola
Bright colours would grab
the customers attention
and younger people will
be more attracted.
Not much boring
information so that
it doesn’t bore
people
The logo has
to be on so its
memorable
A popular famous person
to go with the advert to
attract more people
because of their
popularity
Big writing so
that its easy to
read and also
has to be simple
so it is clear
Cool fonts to grab the
customer attention
Mind Map
• Strengths of using this method
– Mind maps gives key points of what to do and what not to do so you can use
mind maps as a criteria when making a poster. If you come back to making a
poster in a you have a basic idea of what to do with out having to think about.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– Not very detailed so you have to think about it a little bit. There is no imagery
so there is no actual idea of colours and font.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
- I didn’t like it that much because it doesn’t give and idea of what colours to
use, it just gives a general idea of what to do.
Mood board
Mood Board
• Strengths of using this method
– Mood boards help to visualise what you think about when you think of coca
cola which helps you know what to put in the poster.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– Mood boards are very time consuming and can be easy to go off topic when
you're running out if ideas
• Did you like using this method? Why?
• I liked it because it gave me an idea of the sort of ideas I need to add into my
poster.
Style Sheet
Style Sheet
• Strengths of using this method
– You get a good idea for what font would be good to go in your poster and you
have a wider variety to go with.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– There is no names of the font so its harder to find the font you like the
most.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
- Yes because helped to pick a font that would
work best for my poster and give me a good
plan of what colours would be good.
Layout Plan
Layout Plan
• Strengths of using this method
– Layout plans give a rough idea of the finishing piece and its easier to
experiment and try new ideas and there is less pressure because it is just a
draft and doesn’t mean anything.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– You can easily change your mind, which would make your layout plan
pointless.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
- yes because it gives you a rough copy of what it should look like and you don’t
have to spend your time thinking of how to put it together you can just go straight into
it.
Brainstorm
Coca cola
Timings
10-25 seconds
No silent periods
Audience
16-50
Mainly younger
adults and teenagers
Sound effects
- Oh yeah voice recording
- Yawning
- Can opening
- Drinking sound
- Taste the feeling song
Brainstorm
• Strengths of using this method
- You have a general idea of what to put in your finale piece, its useful so
you don’t miss anything out which means it will be professional and
successful.
• Weaknesses of using this method
- There's no structure to it so it can get quite unclear and jumbled so if
you were to come back to it, it would be hard to understand what you
need to do for your finale piece.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
- not really because it wasn’t very useful and was hard to structure
which meant it was confusing.
Informal Pitch
• Strengths of using this method
– There’s no pressure as there is no crowd so you can get more detailed criticism
or advice.
– you can spend more time getting idea from one person so they ca be
developed.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– It didn’t seem serious and it wasn’t as useful.
– You couldn’t get a variety of ideas to help as there is only one person.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
-- not really because it wasn’t set up properly and you couldn’t express you full
ideas.
Group Idea Generation
Group Idea Generation
• Strengths of using this method
– You can generate lots of ideas because everyone will have different thoughts
and ideas.
– You don’t have to think of everything because other people will have ideas as
well. You can develop ideas well.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– You do not get to make it your own so it can be unorganised and it would be
hard to find your information fast.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
-- yes because we could get a lot iof ideas shared so we had a lot of ideas and
tips to go with.
Formal Pitch
• Strengths of using this method
– Helps you to think about what wont be excepted in your advert so you know
what not to put in.
– Helps you understand what it is that you're making.
• Weaknesses of using this method
-- it doesn’t really help that much and not very organised.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
-- not really I did not find it very helpful and a waist of time.
Initial Reaction
• my initial reaction was what should I do it on.
• What advergames I had recently seen and how they
were designed.
• What kind of games people like.
• What I would like to create.
Initial Reaction
• Strengths of using this method
– It shows how I thought straight off the mark.
– Good for knowing what you think of first.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– You can go off topic easily as you haven’t had much information to guide you
to generate the right ideas.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
- yes because It gave me the same ideas as what viewers would think if they
had just heard about an advergame.
Sketches
Sketches
• Strengths of using this method
– You can go into creating it with a basic idea of what you want to do
– You can design quick ideas so that you get variety of ideas
• Weaknesses of using this method
– You cant see if it will work on computer or go well together
– You may not use it making the sketch a waste of time
• Did you like using this method? Why?
- yes because it gave me a good idea of what I want to put in my advergame
Formal Proposal
• Strengths of using this method
– Yes because it was like a check list to know what not to put in so that it
wouldn’t be classed as offensive.
• Weaknesses of using this method
- It is hard to make it clear which will not help the viewer know what
your full intensions are which would help your finale piece.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
- yes because it was quick to make and would be effective in real
productions.

Has to have name/logo/slogan/images (coca cola’s slogan is taste the feeling) 3 Misleading Adverts No lying about the product (saying coke has not got any sugar when it does 4 Harm and Offence To ensure you don’t hurt anyone's feelings e.g sexist, racist 5 Children You can not force a child to buy the product, not direct advertisement, no sugar or harmful adverts allowed. 6 Privacy No celebritys are allowed in the video without their consent 13 Food, food supplements and associated health or nutritional Not allowed to broadcas
  • 3. Mind Map Advertisement for coca cola Bright colours would grab the customers attention and younger people will be more attracted. Not much boring information so that it doesn’t bore people The logo has to be on so its memorable A popular famous person to go with the advert to attract more people because of their popularity Big writing so that its easy to read and also has to be simple so it is clear Cool fonts to grab the customer attention
  • 4. Mind Map • Strengths of using this method – Mind maps gives key points of what to do and what not to do so you can use mind maps as a criteria when making a poster. If you come back to making a poster in a you have a basic idea of what to do with out having to think about. • Weaknesses of using this method – Not very detailed so you have to think about it a little bit. There is no imagery so there is no actual idea of colours and font. • Did you like using this method? Why? - I didn’t like it that much because it doesn’t give and idea of what colours to use, it just gives a general idea of what to do.
  • 6. Mood Board • Strengths of using this method – Mood boards help to visualise what you think about when you think of coca cola which helps you know what to put in the poster. • Weaknesses of using this method – Mood boards are very time consuming and can be easy to go off topic when you're running out if ideas • Did you like using this method? Why? • I liked it because it gave me an idea of the sort of ideas I need to add into my poster.
  • 8. Style Sheet • Strengths of using this method – You get a good idea for what font would be good to go in your poster and you have a wider variety to go with. • Weaknesses of using this method – There is no names of the font so its harder to find the font you like the most. • Did you like using this method? Why? - Yes because helped to pick a font that would work best for my poster and give me a good plan of what colours would be good.
  • 10. Layout Plan • Strengths of using this method – Layout plans give a rough idea of the finishing piece and its easier to experiment and try new ideas and there is less pressure because it is just a draft and doesn’t mean anything. • Weaknesses of using this method – You can easily change your mind, which would make your layout plan pointless. • Did you like using this method? Why? - yes because it gives you a rough copy of what it should look like and you don’t have to spend your time thinking of how to put it together you can just go straight into it.
  • 11. Brainstorm Coca cola Timings 10-25 seconds No silent periods Audience 16-50 Mainly younger adults and teenagers Sound effects - Oh yeah voice recording - Yawning - Can opening - Drinking sound - Taste the feeling song
  • 12. Brainstorm • Strengths of using this method - You have a general idea of what to put in your finale piece, its useful so you don’t miss anything out which means it will be professional and successful. • Weaknesses of using this method - There's no structure to it so it can get quite unclear and jumbled so if you were to come back to it, it would be hard to understand what you need to do for your finale piece. • Did you like using this method? Why? - not really because it wasn’t very useful and was hard to structure which meant it was confusing.
  • 13. Informal Pitch • Strengths of using this method – There’s no pressure as there is no crowd so you can get more detailed criticism or advice. – you can spend more time getting idea from one person so they ca be developed. • Weaknesses of using this method – It didn’t seem serious and it wasn’t as useful. – You couldn’t get a variety of ideas to help as there is only one person. • Did you like using this method? Why? -- not really because it wasn’t set up properly and you couldn’t express you full ideas.
  • 15. Group Idea Generation • Strengths of using this method – You can generate lots of ideas because everyone will have different thoughts and ideas. – You don’t have to think of everything because other people will have ideas as well. You can develop ideas well. • Weaknesses of using this method – You do not get to make it your own so it can be unorganised and it would be hard to find your information fast. • Did you like using this method? Why? -- yes because we could get a lot iof ideas shared so we had a lot of ideas and tips to go with.
  • 16. Formal Pitch • Strengths of using this method – Helps you to think about what wont be excepted in your advert so you know what not to put in. – Helps you understand what it is that you're making. • Weaknesses of using this method -- it doesn’t really help that much and not very organised. • Did you like using this method? Why? -- not really I did not find it very helpful and a waist of time.
  • 17. Initial Reaction • my initial reaction was what should I do it on. • What advergames I had recently seen and how they were designed. • What kind of games people like. • What I would like to create.
  • 18. Initial Reaction • Strengths of using this method – It shows how I thought straight off the mark. – Good for knowing what you think of first. • Weaknesses of using this method – You can go off topic easily as you haven’t had much information to guide you to generate the right ideas. • Did you like using this method? Why? - yes because It gave me the same ideas as what viewers would think if they had just heard about an advergame.
  • 20. Sketches • Strengths of using this method – You can go into creating it with a basic idea of what you want to do – You can design quick ideas so that you get variety of ideas • Weaknesses of using this method – You cant see if it will work on computer or go well together – You may not use it making the sketch a waste of time • Did you like using this method? Why? - yes because it gave me a good idea of what I want to put in my advergame
  • 21. Formal Proposal • Strengths of using this method – Yes because it was like a check list to know what not to put in so that it wouldn’t be classed as offensive. • Weaknesses of using this method - It is hard to make it clear which will not help the viewer know what your full intensions are which would help your finale piece. • Did you like using this method? Why? - yes because it was quick to make and would be effective in real productions.
