2. Initial Reaction
• As part of my brief I have been given 8 weeks to design and produce a project in of my
choosing within the specialisms. I have decided that I will make a hypothetical event
that will happen in the near future, this will consist of invitations for the event, a
magazine article and website for information on the event also the possibility of making
a logo for the company running the event. I think I have a keen knowledge on video
game and a big interest in the video game world I'm swayed towards making my event
based around video games. I feel I have a good knowledge of making visual products
such as magazine front covers and websites but l think I struggle with making the
magazine article, therefore I think I will have to leave more time in my schedule than
the other products when designing my double page spread. The software's that are
available to me at college will be the adobe sweet and the all the Microsoft software's
which will be helpful for when I'm designing my products. I also have a Mac book pro at
home which I will be able to download all the software's to if I need to catch up on my
work due to production taking too long. I may need to book equipment out from the
college so that I can collect images for my event. I will have manage my time over the
weeks as I can’t afford to fall behind as my work will not be up to the standard I want it
to be. I could make a schedule or Gantt chart and follow that, allocating a certain
amount of time to the sections of the project. I will use the reflection to self evaluate
how I feel I have done and what I think my strength and weaknesses were on the
project and how I could improve for next time in future projects.
6. Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated colours/images
styles/fonts/tone/mood
The colours in the mood board are quite dark which gives brings a mature effect to the
products as they don’t need to have bright colours to make the poster stand out, with a
mature audience viewing the products there is a bigger need for attention to detail as older
audience look for good quality content.
Large images have been used to show off the games and the graphics, this is a big way to
get people to go to the convention as they can try out new games that have been displayed
in the in the posters and magazine article.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
• I will have images to show off the different games and activities that you can do in the
event, so that it shows my audience that there is something for everyone and also that
the event is worth going to as the customer would not know if there was a lot to do if
there was no actual proof which the images will provide.
• I will not have a dark theme to the event but I will not be using bright colours to
advertise the event. From the mood board I have noticed that dark colours suggest
power and have a sense of importance in the products which will be a good way to
advertise my products as people with the C2 social statues can feel of importance and
become a belonger as they are part of a small community, which will make them want
to attend even more.
