The Luck Of A Dreamer
Audience:
12–18-year-old females- younger females are most likely to want to watch animals in a film, as
typically enjoy a romance as well as an adventure, which is shown in the narrative of my film.
Middle to lower class- they would enjoy the film to its full extent, as it has a simplistic narrative
and a simple plot, meaning the film is relatively easy to follow rather than there being a complex
narrative which not many would be able to understand.
People who own ferrets- as ferrets are an unusual animal to star as main characters in a film, it
may come as a surprise to those who own ferrets that there is a film being created with ferrets in it.
They may be attracted to the film as they would want to enjoy the entertainment from other ferrets
and be able to relate to the quirks of the ferrets in the film.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
I have learned how to edit both photos and video using photoshop and premier pro. I have a lot
more knowledge on filming techniques and what goes into producing a video. I have also learned
how to create pixel art characters and create sound effects using beatbox and foley. This
influenced my project as the techniques I leaned will be used to create my gaming material,
magazine cover and marketing material. I have studied existing products which relate to my
adventure film, which has influenced me as I have learned what typical material looks like and
made choices base on what I have already seen and liked from previous products.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The concept of my product is to represent love and adventure through the conflict and control in
the society that the ferrets are living in. I have deliberately picked a usual group of characters as I
feel this gives my film a unique twist and gives unusual characters the chance to make a statement
to the audience.
I intend to make a film poster, two billboard covers- one representing the male characters and one
for the female characters, a magazine cover, soundtracks which will include a mashup of 3 songs,
and game material- cut scene, menu screen and demo level.
To do this I need to research into existing products to get an idea of how these usually look and
based on this I will be able to create my own product with my own style to it.
I will also need to learn how to create things that I do not already know how to do- I will need to
learn how to edit music to create a mashup of songs for my video, how to use pixel art to create
effective game materials and I will need to learn how to make an effective magazine cover.
Production Techniques (approx. 150 words)
Green screen- I will need to use this to take photos of the ferrets to get images on them without a
background so I can place them onto a different background for my print work.
Foley and beat box sound effects- I will need to use these for my gaming material, particularly the
demo level and cut scene, as these will need to include a range of sound effects
Audio editing software- I will use this to make a mashup of 3 different songs for my game music.
Photoshop- I will use this for pixel art, editing photos and creating most of my materials for this
project.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
To evaluate my work, I intend to keep a production log, to have daily updates of what I have done
each day. I will use this to discuss the pros and cons of my finished work when I review and reflect
on it all.
