Working Title:
Bebe Rexha – I'm a mess (Music video)
Audience:
My target audience would be young adults (18 – 24) and predominantly female. Due to the core
concept of the video having a woman infatuated with a man she shouldn’t be with which could
potentially relate to many people. The social status could be very broad as anybody has the
potential to grow feelings for another. Those of a lower status however could be more likely to
make a (poor) choice in relation to their feelings so they may take more from the video.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
Throughout the year I have attempted many projects such as advertising videos, Audio and video
games. In some shape or form I have practiced my skills in premiere pro with each of these and
refined my knowledge of editing video and audio clips. As I begin to tackle music videos, I realise
that some of these projects such as the video advertising and audio projects go hand in hand and
directly correlate with the music video project I intend to create
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The concept for this video is that a woman is infatuated by a man she thinks she's in love with and
seems to be going crazy for him. The feeling of craziness will be embodied by another actress
adding a layer of symbolic and metaphorical meaning to the video. It should be clear that the
woman can’t see the actress portraying craziness as it plays like a supernatural entity.
Relative to this I should research other videos that use a multitude of symbolic and metaphorical
techniques and see specifically how they are crafted to elicit certain emotions. I should also spend
time looking into how some music videos create a small narrative using feelings correlating to love
as a core narrative point.
Production Techniques (approx. 150 words)
A green screen should be something to consider as there are a few ideas I have (for example
peering into the women mind and conflicting feelings) that would require a more surreal setting. I
am currently not caught up on how a green screen works or is set up so that is something I will
need to look into before filming. For the most part the audio will be the song and any special
effects can be thought about later when the footage is gathered and in the editing process. The
filming process should be rather basic needing only the actors / actresses, a camera, a tripod and
the music as well as simple props and set.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I plan to document each day of filming and explain the positives and negatives as well as a general
rundown of the processes used during the day. I will also perform a similar process during the
editing so that I can self-check and improve as I put the final product together. Once the product is
fully finished, I will create an in-depth analysis portraying the strong points and weaknesses of
each specific area of the product and the processes used to make it.
