Working Title:
No Body
Audience:
As my trailer would be for a horror film I am aiming the trailer at an age range of 16-24 as this
audience is young enough to want to watch horror films to get scared while still being old enough
to watch a horror film that would contain violence and disturbing imagery. The film would appeal to
each gender, as enjoyment of the film would depend on weather the audience are fans of horror or
willing to be scared. The film would appeal to the working class, skilled working class and the
lower middle class, as these are the people most likely to be going to the cinema to go and watch
horror films. On a psychograph the target audience for my film would be for a socially conscious
type, as they would want talk about the film with others to get their opinions on the film. The film
would appeal to those seeking to satisfy their curiosity as I’m planning to make the trailer intrigue
the viewer by giving them questions and a small look at the concept of the film to create a sense of
mystery. I also want my trailer to appeal to an audience that wants social integration as I would
aim to make the trailer a talking point with it’s theme of horror and mystery.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
In my music video project I believe that I was successful in planning how the video would look and
the narrative that I wanted to show in the video and how this would complement the song I’d
chosen. I believe that I failed when it came to planning how I direct my actors, film my shots and
arrange the filming as when my actors all made it to film I ended up rushing to film which made the
production of the film end up looking rushed, in order to have a better production this time I need to
arrange the production of the filming earlier in case anyone can’t make it. I will also need to use
skills of print design to create a poster/cover design for the film that I can plan for by creating
multiple designs and choosing which one’s seem most relevant/appealing.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
The concept for my project is to make a trailer for a horror film. The concept of my horror film is for
a city where somebody goes missing everyday and the protagonist discovers that they are in game
of cat and mouse with the kidnapper that could mean that they are the next to go missing. I plan
for the film to have elements of mystery such as who is the kidnapper, where do the missing go
and is there more going on under the surface. The main research I will need to do for this trailer is
to look at the production of trailers for real films and how they use editing techniques to create a
sense of style and intrigue to invest the audience. I also want to create posters or a cover design
for the film which would mean that I need to research how these designs are used to show the
theme of the film while gaining attention from people both interested and uninterested in the film. I
want my trailer to appeal to horror fan with its concept, which I will aim to show themes of mystery,
horror and the surreal and a sense of dread. The main feeling I’m aiming to show in my trailer is a
sense of atmosphere so the settings, acting and music will need to convey the creepy sense of
mystery I’m aiming for.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
I plan to evaluate my work through weekly reflections of how I planned my work and what thought
processes I went through to decide what I would want to include in my trailer. I will need evaluate
which areas I liked about my project and where I could have Improved the project in my final self-
evaluation.
