12. Existing Product- Onward
⢠Onward is an American computer-animated urban fantasy adventure film produced by
Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. The film is set in an
suburban fantasy world and follows two supernatural elf brothers who set out on a
quest to find the artifact that will temporarily bring back their deceased father.
⢠The film appeals to a younger audience, as it includes supernatural figures setting out on
an adventure in a fantasy world.
⢠In terms of animation, the producers aimed for the film to be âabstractâ but they also
wanted to âpersonify itâ so they had to converge the idea of magic and go back to a
basic level of sequences and the spells, so that a level of complexity would be given to
the film. They chose to give the filmâs magic a unique style after studying several
animated films featuring magic such as âFantasiaâ, âAladdinâ and âHerculesâ in order to
create the magic of the film to fit with the suburban fantasy setting.
⢠in May 2019, two images from the film, featuring Barley, Ian and their mother, were
revealed. The following day, the film's teaser poster was released, and the teaser trailer
debuted during ABC's broadcast of the 2019 NBA Finals. The trailer was also shown with
Toy Story 4 and Spider-Man: Far From Home in the summer of 2019. Full trailers were
released in October (shown with Maleficent: Mistress of Evil) and December 2019
(shown with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker).
⢠The color scheme of the film uses a purple and blue theme, which fits with the
adventurous, urban setting with the film and portrays to its audience the overall ideas of
the film, signifying the magic and the quest that the characters are about to take on.
13. Existing Product- Stardew
valley gameplay videos
⢠Stardew valley is a stimulation role-playing video game, which takes the player
on an interactive adventure. The game was developed by Concerned Ape,
released for Microsoft windows in 2016 and later released for wider platforms
such as macOS, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS Vita, iOS and Android.
Players take on the role of a character who takes over from their deceased
grandfatherâs farm, the game is open ended, allowing players to take on many
activities on and around the farm.
⢠The game was developed by American indie game designer Eric Barone. The
game began as a modern fan-made alternative to the Harvest Moon series, as he
felt the series had degraded and he wanted to create his own âbetterâ version.
He aimed for the players to have the feeling of immersion in a small farming
community, stating that he wanted it to have real world messages as well as
fantasy life messages.
⢠The color scheme of the video is mainly blues greens and oranges, which
suggests to its audience there is an adventure in the game, before they play. As
it has a heavy influence from another game series, this may also entice and
audience, as they would want to see how this differs from the original series.
14. Existing Product- Empire
magazine
⢠Empire is a British film magazine published monthly by Bauer
Consumer Media. The first issue was published in May 1989 and is
edited by Terri White.
⢠The magazine always features film characters on the front, usually
from movies that have come out ag the time of publication, which
attracts an audience as they would want to know what the
magazine as to say about their favorite films and allow themselves
to learn more about the film itself and educate themselves with a
potentially different interpretation of the film. The magazine
reviews both mainstream and art films but featured articles
concentrate on the former. Each magazine contains a transcript of
a notable film scene, which gives the reader an insight to films
they may not have seen before, or those who have an opportunity
to remind themselves of the film.
⢠The color scheme varies per magazine as it greatly depends on the
main film featuring each month, this keeps the audience guessing
as they will have a completely different copy to read each month, it
keeps them guessing what each new copy will be like.

⢠Sonic Adventure 2 is a 2001 platform game developed by Sonic Team
USA and published by Sega. It was the final Sonic the Hedgehog game for
the Dreamcast after Sega discontinued the console.
⢠The game was developed in 1999, soon after the release of Sonic
Adventure, its development took around 18 months. It was produced in
commemoration of the Sonic seriesâ 10th anniversary and was designed
to be a much faster-paced and more action-orientated than the original
game. They also expanded the presence of characters, mainly âChaoâ
characters. Together, Dreamcast and GameCube sold more than 2 million
copies worldwide, it was also released as a download for PlayStation 3,
Xbox 360 and Windows but this was not until 2012.
⢠The game is a 3D platform which was divided into two campaigns: hero
and dark which offers its audience a range of things they can do within
the game. As well as this they can raise and train âChaoâ as virtual pets.
The different elements to the game allows adventure, just as the title
suggests, the audience are able to explore each element of the game as
they choose to and have control at each point of the game which part
they are playing.
⢠The development team ran the game at a 60 frames per second with
tempo, giving Sonic a variety of actions, rather than only focusing on his
main theme of speed, which allows the audience to explore the
character in more detail and learn of his new features.
16. Research Summary
⢠What have you learned from your research?
From my research I have learned that the colour scheme of adventure based products tends to be similar, using blue, yellow
and green as the main theme of colour.
I have learned that game layouts are often simplistic and donât always need a lot of detail like I expected them to have.
Magazine covers for films typically have the main characters on the front cover with a few tag lines to support the film,
which usually consists of feedback about the film- quotes and ratings, tag lines and teasers for what is to come inside the
magazine.
Film advertising for adventure films is usually simplistic and features the main characters, which immediately introduces the
audience to the main characters so they will instantly recognise the film when it comes into cinemas, they will be more likely
to want to watch the film, if they recognise it.
⢠What aspects of the research will you include within your on work?
I intend to use a similar colour scheme to the one used in Stardew Valley as I feel this will fit my idea well, especially for the
game as I feel the colour scheme fits the mood of the narrative I am planning to use in my game.
I like they layout of the magazine, I intend to create a similar version of this for my own magazine cover, as I feel this will
represent my film effectively and would attract an audience.
I love the style of the film poster for Onward, as I feel this represents the film in a positive light, which I intend to do with my
marketing materials, I would like to create a film poster similar to this as I feel it would be appealing to its audience and
encourage them to share these materials with others.

19. Style Sheet
This is my intended colour scheme as I feel it fits with the forestry that I intend to use as my
main setting, to emphasise the significance of the quest that they follow to find and rescue the
princesses.
As my film characters are ferrets, I intend for my characters to look like this, but to look like each
character in my film. These will be used in my game to distinguish the narrative of the game, if I
were to make it. I intend for my characters to be featured in most parts of the game, even if they
are just part of the setting e.g. on the menu screen have them somewhere on the screen.

27. Contingency
What can go wrong? What can you do if it does?
Can be quite hard to get footage of ferrets as they have a short
attention span
Get footage in short intervals and use their favourite toys to distract them into what I
want them to do, ask someone to help me to make it easier.
Unable to travel to the location desired for filming/
photographing
Find an alternate location and make the best out of the situation I am in
Something unexpected may happen to one of the ferrets, as
they are very vulnerable animals.
Use whatever footage I have managed to get, or if I havenât got any then use a different
ferret for the role so that I am not missing a character out.
Weather conditions change before/during the time I have
planned to get footage
Change my plan about to fit weather conditions e.g. change a filming day to an editing
day if the weather is forecast rain, to avoid the weather spoiling my production.
Device used for getting footage runs out of charge
unexpectedly
Make sure I have a spare device and a portable charger just to make sure I will not be
without charge in the device, monitor it while getting footage so I will know when it is
running out of charge.
28. Risk Assessment
What could be a risk to you, others or the
equipment?
How can you make sure that doesnât happen? What
will you do if it does?
Filming location may not be suitable for animals, they
may hurt themselves on something sharp.
Check the area is safe before taking them to take
photos there. If it is unsuitable I could film the
background and the action separately using my green
screen.
COVID cases rise, making it hard to photograph in a
location where we can socially distance from others.
Find a different area to photograph, or use existing
photos to avoid the risk of going out near others.
Wooded areas are usually unstable ground This may make it hard to photograph and may cause
harm to the ferrets. To avoid this I could use green
screening for taking photos of the ferrets, and take
extra care when photographing.
