Research
• The strengths of my research were that I knew what I was going to be doing straight away. My first idea
was hobbies and interests and had to pick one of the four I picked and I chose football. Because it was in
the middle of January when doing my research I looked at recent transfers and rumours as a potential
idea. However after I looked at upcoming fixtures in England and found out that the FA Cup fourth round
was happening on the 28th and the 29th of January. This was my favourite idea out of the two and chose
this one. My idea was to talk about one main game and maybe add an extra if there’s spare time. The
game I chose was Lincoln City vs. Brighton &HA. I also chose one more game just in case I need more than
one and it worked out well doing both games. With the games I had to research the stats and game facts
before I recorded so I knew what I was on about.
• The research helped my product because it gave me a starting point on what to do. When I was
researching I was only looking to talk about one match, however when I looked ay some football fixtures I
changed to two games instead f one to talk about. I mainly talked about the Lincoln game then slightly at
the end of the podcast talked about
• In my honest opinion, I don’t think I had many weaknesses in my research because I knew what I was
going to do from the very start. I thought I was going to interview people about the recent premier league
games, but then moved onto doing a radio podcast which was better to plan out in the end.
Planning
• My planning overall was mainly on the product experiments where I made a trial podcast about my
morning routine, which went down well. The strengths of my planning was that my morning routine
experiment helped me create my main podcast. Making the experiment one helped me figure out what
tools and processes I was going to use in my main podcast.
• My planning also came from the Initial Plans slide which had two mind maps with potential ideas on and I
chose football from about 5 ideas. I had to choose whether to talk about (on my podcast) transfers,
players, managers, rumours, upcoming fixtures and recent results. I chose the recent results in the FA Cup
from the previous weekend as my main talking point.
• My planning helped my product because some of the tools and processes I sued in the experiment I then
used in the actual podcast.
• My plan for my podcast was to make it 5 minutes long maximum. However it went on to be about 6
minutes long which isn’t too bad. It was to talk about two FA Cup games from the previous weekend of
football and talk about how the teams dealt with the situations of the game.
Time Management
• I think overall I managed my time pretty well. With my planning I planned everything out before recording
the main thing the week after. From the start of this project I knew what I was doing so I had plenty of
time to figure out what to do. I chose football for my main subject for my podcast and football is my
favourite sport and know a lot about it so it’s a good topic to talk about. All my PowerPoint’s were
completed on time as well as the experiment I made.
• My schedule on the Pre-Production PowerPoint shows my plan for recording the main podcast. My plan
was to have my planning all sorted the week before recording. Have my script done and slightly rehearsed
before the recording and to book out a studio for the recording to be possible.
• I completed my project on time. My guest on the show and I recorded on the Tuesday and finished editing
on the Thursday / Deadline day. My product didn’t need improving because I had plenty of time to look at
my product and decide whether to add anything or change anything.
• If I had more time to produce my work I would maybe make the recording longer and maybe talk about
another football match. Maybe add another guest to the show to make it more interesting. This would
have been done during the same week of recording and I think I would still have plenty of time to edit.
When making a podcast if there’s no mistakes (which my podcast doesn’t really have) it’s not hard to edit.
Technical Qualities
Similar existing products and similarities.
My work in my opinion is similar to radio
5Live which is a football talk show with
guests and information about all the
recent football action. It obviously does
other sports however it mainly covers the
live games in the premier league, FA Cup
and many more different English leagues.
5Live radio doesn’t have an intro, outro or
music during the talking part of the show.
Mine doesn’t have music on the talking bit
because I think it’s a distraction for the
people on the show and for the people
listening.
Talk Sport is another show that is very
similar to my own product. It’s very similar
to 5Live but doesn’t cover the some
football games Live. Talk Sport is mainly
about talking about an upcoming fixture or
a recent result. This show is more like my
podcast talking about the recent games.
Differences.
The main differences from my product compared to others is that my
product has a small intro and outro added to it. 5live and Talk Sport
don’t have introduction’s with music they just get on with it. Obviously
their podcasts will last longer than mine so there’s a lot more to
process and think about compared to mine which is 6 minutes long.
Aural Qualities
• When it came to recording the week after I had to book out a studio. My work only sounds good because
me and my guest on the show were in a quiet room and had a audio recorder. I did slightly adjust the
volume on the audio, however it sounds completely fine otherwise. The sound of the voices sounds good
as well. We had to speak quite quick because of the amount of information we had to talk about. However
this didn’t stop both of us getting it done in the end. Our voices sounded happy and not sad which means
we actually put some effort into our tone of voice. In the audio I like that there’s no mistakes so I didn’t
have to edit as much. I also like it when I change subject on certain times of the podcast. My plan on he
script was to change subject or talk about something else when the time of the recording hits every
minute.
• If improvements were to be made I would make the podcast a bit longer and add some sound effects for
maybe a type of game or something.
• Strengths of my sound was that it was loud enough and was recorded properly with a audio recorder.
• There wasn’t any weaknesses to my recording. There wasn’t any mistakes and didn’t have to edit anything
out.
• Because my audio has nothing over it in the background, I would put something in the background if my
audience recommended it. Sometimes on talk shows music in the background can be a slight distraction
and doesn’t need to be there. However if it’s sounds okay with some music in the background I will add it
if need be.
Audience Appeal
• I think I appealed to my target audience quite well. I said the target audience would be over the age of 12
and I think my podcast it suitable for that age and above. Children at the age of 12 might be playing some
different sports for activity and listening to people on shows that have played football and other sports
before can help them progress. The talking part of the show can help people at both a young and older
age whether it’s playing or managing for a team. The main recording of dialogue is good and appeals to my
target audience. The intro and outro music might be liked by some people listening which is good for my
younger aged people that would listen. There isn’t any sound effects in the podcast as said before on
previous slides, however the recording in my opinion is fine without music in the background. I think my
audience would agree that talk shows don’t need music in the background.
• My overall podcast will appeal to my target audience it’s a reliable source that can give information to the
young and older people that are interested in different sports. However with my podcast it’s about
football and doesn’t include any other sports. So for football fans in general it’s a good talk show for them
to be involved in.
• Because my audio has nothing over it in the background, I would put something in the background if my
audience recommended it. Sometimes on talk shows music in the background can be a slight distraction
and doesn’t need to be there. However if it’s sounds okay with some music in the background I will add it
if need be.
Peer
Feedback
Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– I like both the intro an outro of the podcast. I like that the main audio isn’t edited and is without any
mistakes. I also like how they change subjects during certain times which means it’s well co-
ordinated.
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
– Overall it could have background music to add something to the audio than just people talking.
Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– I really like the idea of a football talk show and talking about the previous football results in the FA
Cup. The intro and outro songs are really good and sound good at both the beginning and ending of
the podcast.
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
– When talking about the different games maybe add some commentary fro the game so the audio
doesn’t sound boring. The main audio has nothing in the background so adding some music would
maybe help bring something to the podcast.
Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– The podcast is really interesting and has lots of information about the two games analysed which is
good. The intro and outro music’s are a good addition to the podcast and aren’t too loud or anything,
they are calm bits of music that are good for a beginning and ending of a podcast.
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
– Maybe add some sound effects during some of the audio so people at listening at home can
understand the situation.
Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
– I do agree with all the feedback and need to improve on the music involved in the podcast. Majority
of the feedback asked me to add music during the main audio recording to add something to it
because it’s sounds dull without any.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
– Didn’t disagree with anything.
Peer Feedback Summary
• Majority of the feedback asked me to add music during the main audio recording to add something to it
because it’s sounds dull without any.
• If my audience want a change to maybe another podcast I will make the addition of music in the
background possible and will hopefully sound fine over the voices of the people on the show.
• If I was to do another podcast again I would make it longer and maybe talk about another sport or another
match from that weekend’s football.

There wasn’t any mistakes and didn’t have to edit anything out. • Because my audio has nothing over it in the background, I would put something in the background if my audience recommended it. Sometimes on talk shows music in the background can be a slight distraction and doesn’t need to be there. However if it’s sounds okay with some music in the background I will add it if need be.
  • 8. Audience Appeal • I think I appealed to my target audience quite well. I said the target audience would be over the age of 12 and I think my podcast it suitable for that age and above. Children at the age of 12 might be playing some different sports for activity and listening to people on shows that have played football and other sports before can help them progress. The talking part of the show can help people at both a young and older age whether it’s playing or managing for a team. The main recording of dialogue is good and appeals to my target audience. The intro and outro music might be liked by some people listening which is good for my younger aged people that would listen. There isn’t any sound effects in the podcast as said before on previous slides, however the recording in my opinion is fine without music in the background. I think my audience would agree that talk shows don’t need music in the background. • My overall podcast will appeal to my target audience it’s a reliable source that can give information to the young and older people that are interested in different sports. However with my podcast it’s about football and doesn’t include any other sports. So for football fans in general it’s a good talk show for them to be involved in. • Because my audio has nothing over it in the background, I would put something in the background if my audience recommended it. Sometimes on talk shows music in the background can be a slight distraction and doesn’t need to be there. However if it’s sounds okay with some music in the background I will add it if need be.
  • 10. Feedback 1 • What did you like about the product? – I like both the intro an outro of the podcast. I like that the main audio isn’t edited and is without any mistakes. I also like how they change subjects during certain times which means it’s well co- ordinated. • What improvements could have been made to the product? – Overall it could have background music to add something to the audio than just people talking.
  • 11. Feedback 2 • What did you like about the product? – I really like the idea of a football talk show and talking about the previous football results in the FA Cup. The intro and outro songs are really good and sound good at both the beginning and ending of the podcast. • What improvements could have been made to the product? – When talking about the different games maybe add some commentary fro the game so the audio doesn’t sound boring. The main audio has nothing in the background so adding some music would maybe help bring something to the podcast.
  • 12. Feedback 3 • What did you like about the product? – The podcast is really interesting and has lots of information about the two games analysed which is good. The intro and outro music’s are a good addition to the podcast and aren’t too loud or anything, they are calm bits of music that are good for a beginning and ending of a podcast. • What improvements could have been made to the product? – Maybe add some sound effects during some of the audio so people at listening at home can understand the situation.
  • 13. Peer Feedback Summary • What do you agree with from your peer feedback? – I do agree with all the feedback and need to improve on the music involved in the podcast. Majority of the feedback asked me to add music during the main audio recording to add something to it because it’s sounds dull without any. • What do you disagree with from your peer feedback? – Didn’t disagree with anything.
  • 14. Peer Feedback Summary • Majority of the feedback asked me to add music during the main audio recording to add something to it because it’s sounds dull without any. • If my audience want a change to maybe another podcast I will make the addition of music in the background possible and will hopefully sound fine over the voices of the people on the show. • If I was to do another podcast again I would make it longer and maybe talk about another sport or another match from that weekend’s football.
