3. Research
Strengths:
- I was able to research and look at different audio related products.
- It is a good way to look at inspiration and try get ideas for what you might
want to use in your final product.
- Can get specific examples, which can help you gather ideas for what you
want to do.
Weaknesses:
- Some products require buying them, or the site they are on may require
monthly subscriptions, which makes listening to them for ideas difficult.
- I could have tried analysing and explaining them in further detail, as I feel
this would have helped me specify the meaning of each product, as well as
help with the ideas I would want to use for my final product.
4. Planning
Strengths:
- I feel like my production experiments was able to help with the planning, as I
was able to try practicing doing a podcast with a friend, as well as being able
to get more practice with editing audio.
- I was able to gather ideas on what I want my final product to be.
- For pre-production, I was able to plan of what sound effects I wanted to use,
the people and props I may need involved, potential issues and how to avoid
them, as well as making a schedule on when I will decide to do each part of
my production.
Weaknesses:
- I could have tried going into a little detail when explaining each part of my
pre-production, as I feel it would have helped gather ideas a bit more.
5. Time Management
Strengths:
- I feel I was able to complete my production on time.
Weaknesses:
- I feel I could have tried taking a little bit more time with it, mostly to try
balance audio, to make it sound more professional.
6. Technical Qualities
• 2 friends and I recorded each line individually on
our phones, as it would be easier to edit.
• I then edited the audio in PremeirePro, as I am
more used to this software.
• I decided to compare my work with The Daily
podcast.
• The similarities are they are both podcasts that
are quite casual while informative. The
differences are that they discuss different
topics (mine being video game related, and The
Daily being news focused).
7. Aural Qualities
• I like how my final product turned out overall.
• I felt that the audio was balanced, and I like how I
decided to add music from each series discuss in
the background for the parts of the podcast
where we discuss that game.
• I felt I could have tried taking more time with it
and was able to add in all the lines (since I cut
some parts out because I feared it would have
taken a bit longer.) I also could try fixing the
audio, since I felt some lines where too quiet.
8. Audience Appeal
I feel I have managed to appeal to my main target
demographic.
My main target audience was middle class, and for
psychographics belongers (people who want to get
trendy new items to try fit in with others.
I have managed to appeal to these types as I
discussed video games, which middle class people
would be able to afford, and belongers would
want to play as they are possibly trendy and
popular.
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– Harrison said: "I really liked how you used the songs
from the certain games we were talking about and
how it does actually sound like we were doing a
podcast."
• What improvements could have been made to
the product? "A few things I would improve
would be to maybe lower the volume down when
the songs started to play but other than that, this
was really good."
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– Sam said:
– “I like the music in the background, and I like how you've
used people's voices to make your podcast more
interesting.”
• What improvements could have been made to the
product?
• Sam said:
• “You could next time increase the volume of the
character's speaking when the music comes on.”
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
• The sound effects were good and kept an upbeat and happy
tempo
• The scripting and topics were good, and the content was
interesting
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
• The soundtrack was quite loud compared to the talking and at
about 1 minute in Sam's voice goes quite quiet.
13. Peer Feedback Summary
One change I would make is maybe redoing some of my voice lines,
since I felt my voice was not loud or clear in some areas.
Another is changing the audio balancing, such as for the background
music, which I felt was a bit too loud in some areas, which drowned
out the actual talking.
Another change I could make is maybe going into a bit more detail
about these games (sticking with the more casual discussion style, of
course), since it did not feel like we really explained much considering
these games.
One last change I would make is maybe making a little jingle at both
the start and end of the podcast.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
– Most people liked how I used background music from each game that
was discussed, for my podcast. I agree with this because, I thought it
would be a cool idea to include music from each series that was
discussed.
– They also liked the topics being discussed, and how it does sound like
an actual podcast. I agree with this, since I felt those topics where
interesting, and I do like how it sounds like an actual podcast.
– Each person said the audio balancing could be better, and I completely
agree since, I even felt that the background music was a bit too loud,
and some of Sam's audio did sound a bit quiet in some areas, which I
could have improved.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
- I do not really disagree with any feedback for my audio project, being
honest.
