4. Mind Map
• Strengths of using this method
– Gives you a variety of different paths to go down when focusing on certain things. You can take
several routes and maybe combine ones to make something look nice. Putting ideas together can
make something great.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– Might not have an idea that you like, therefore you have to think of something outside the box.
Putting too many ideas together can maybe look like your overdoing things / doing too much.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
Yes because I can put all of my ideas onto one page and explore other ideas from there. Also gives me a chance
to go more in-depth with an idea and progress further with it. It also helps me if I’m struggling for ideas, I can
look back on the mind map and maybe add ideas that I didn’t think of adding before.
6. Mood Board
• Strengths of using this method
– Helps you understand more in-depth of the product and can show others your own ideas of what the
product is like to you. This helps me get ideas for what I could do with my product when editing it.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– Might not find the pictures you want. If you can’t find the pictures that you want, you might have to
design them yourself from ideas from your initial plans.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
I did like using this method because it showed me other things I didn't know about the product Coca-Cola and
helped me make my own idea of what the product can do.
8. Style Sheet
• Strengths of using this method
– There’s a massive variety of fonts and styles to chose from and you can
test which one fits best. With different colours you can see which colours
fit together and which ones don’t. This can be useful when designing a
poster or something to do with a project. All the fonts and sizes are found
on websites on the internet so there’s a massive variety of fonts to choose
from.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– Might not find the exact font you want. The colours might no fit together.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
I like using this method because it gives me a difficult choice to make on which
style of font to use. Also gives me a feel of what colour scheme I want. Plus if I’m
struggling for colour ideas or fonts I can look at his slide and maybe take some
ideas of here or go back to the website I got them from to find more and different
style of fonts.
10. Layout Plan
• Strengths of using this method
– Gives you an idea of what the poster would look like. Also you can try
different fonts and sizes that will fit with the background image or other
texts. You can also see which colours fit best and make different versions
of the poster to see which one looks better compared to others.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– Might change your mind on a few things making it harder to stick to your
main ideas. If your not good at Photoshop or editing then it’s going to be
hard for you to design a poster without needing help.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
This is a useful method because it gives you an idea of what your final poster
could / would look like and if you need to make any changes there’s lots of
different styles of font and backgrounds to find and put together. You can make as
many poster designs as you want and choose which one is best out of them all.
This can be chosen from the fonts that you like, the background design or a
picture that you’ve chosen from the internet. This method’s good because there’s
a massive variety of stuff to play with on the work your making.
12. Brainstorm
• Strengths of using this method
– Writing everything down helps you remember it and can go more in-depth with some of the ideas
you come up with. Good way to see all of the ideas.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– Time-consuming, takes a long time to write everything down, especially if there’s a lot to write down.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
– I liked using this method because it helped me get ideas together from myself and other people. It gave me a chance to look back on the
brainstorm sheet if I got stuck with some ideas or if I needed new ones. The brainstorm also gives me ideas put together that would be good
for other projects and not just the one. Even though the brainstorm doesn’t look like it has a lot of ideas on it there’s still a lot of in-depth
analysis on some of the ideas not on the sheet, which are done on the computer. For example the slogans were all recorded and put into the
advert and we decided which one suited the radio advert the best. In the end we chose ‘Ice Cold Refreshment’.
13. Pitch
• Slogans:
Ice Cold Sunshine,
Ice Cold Refreshment,
The cold crisp taste of Coke.
• Sounds:
Opening the coke can,
Coke hitting ice,
People sound effects,
Jack’s Voice.
• Special effects:
Pitch,
Tempo,
Rhythm.
• Others:
Unique,
Attention grabbing opener.
• Structure:
Coke can opening and then
pouring the coke into a glass of
ice.
Then fades out into the
background music and then the
slogan and Jack’s voiceover.
14. Informal Pitch
• Strengths of using this method
– The strengths were that we could talk about our ideas and make further development instead of
writing it down and wasting time. Easier to talk about it. Got good feedback on the ideas.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– Time-consuming when trying to write it all down.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
Yes because it gives you ideas from other people and you can combine ideas to make something that you can
work with. Easier to combine ideas when talking.
15. Initial Reaction
• I have to make an advergame about Coca-cola. The pixel based side scrolling game
must be made on a 320(H) by 480 (W) canvas.
• I would make Coca-Cola bottles and cans for characters. I might give the cans and
bottles wings or make them fly somehow. Might make it similar to Super Mario.
16. Initial Reaction
• Strengths of using this method
– Gives me an idea of what I want to do.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– Might change my idea because I don’t have a full idea planned out yet.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
Yes because I can write down what comes to mind. And hopefully the things that I
wrote down can be gone further in-depth.
18. Sketches
• Strengths of using this method
– The strengths are that I can look at the ideas I’ve come up with, with the rest of my group and then
develop on some ideas.
• Weaknesses of using this method
– The ideas put down might not be the ideas that I use.
• Did you like using this method? Why?
Yes I do like using this method because it keeps all the ideas together.
19. Formal Proposal
• Strengths of using this method
– The strengths of a formal proposal are that the ideas put down are in a structure. Therefore when
somebody looks at the formal proposal they can get an idea of what the product I and what it’s
about.
• Weaknesses of using this method
• Did you like using this method? Why?
Yes because others then can see my ideas and put together an idea of what my product is about.
