3. Research
• Strengths
One strength is that you get to look at existing podcasts and from this you can learn
about the format , tone and the content. Also from research you find out facts that
you may not of known which you can include in your product. Another strength is that
you get to put down what you are going to include I your final product as well as look
at what features are included in all the examples , this is helpful as then you know
what to add. This also shows you what the conventions of that genre of podcast is.
Weaknesses
One weakness is that there isn't that many podcasts to look at , therefore they all
contain very similar language and format , however they all contain different content.
Another weakness is that your target audience is very hard to choose from , this is
because it may change due to the content in the podcast.
4. Planning
• Strengths
• One strength is that you get to develop potential ideas , this is a strength as you
have more choice to choose from . You also get to develop these ideas so you can
get an idea of what you will include. Another strength is that you get to start
planning out your idea so that you know what to include when coming to
production. Another strength is that you get to look at existing podcasts like the
true Geordie one which is very similar to mine.
• Weaknesses
• One weakness is that you don’t have such a long time when having to come up
with these potential ideas. Another weakness is that you may want to change
ideas as you don’t have time to fully annotate your ideas. When doing the next
project I will plan on trying to put more detail into my mind map , this will be
because then I know what I am going to create.
5. Time Management
• I think that I managed my time very well as I was on production before we
were supposed to be . This then gave me a head start on creating a script
and recording. I also finished all my work in the correct time frame and
had no late work. My time management compared to my last project was
a bit better , this is because my production didn't’t take me as long , this
could be because in a previous I made a game however I only recorded
and edited the audio in this one. Finally when reflecting on my work I feel
as if my time management was perfect , this was because I did not have to
do any work on my study days and I also have not found any of this work
particularly challenging therefore I have gone through it within the time
limits.
6. Technical Qualities
my product compared to for example a True Geordie podcast is fairly different
as he normally includes celebrities. Another difference is that his podcasts
normally last about 2 hours however mine lasts just over 2 minutes. The final
difference is that his is videoed. The final difference is that he records his in
his own studio therefore he wont have any audio errors.
Similarities
One similar thing is that they both include similar content when he has a
special guest who is an ex footballer. Another similar thing is that they both
contain similar (target audiences teenagers and young adults). The final
similarity is that they both contain only males this may be because football is
more popular with men.
7. Aural Qualities
• Overall I think that my product was unique however not that creative. One
specific thing I like is the sound effects , this is because it makes the
podcast sound more interesting. The final thing I like about my product is
the fact that it sounds like a real podcast and It follows the majority of the
conventions.
• Strength
• One strength is that my product is unique. Another strength is that my
product sounds clear and the sound is not muffled or very quiet.
Weakness
• One weakness is that when recording Luke may have read words slightly
wrong but doesn't’t sound that bad now I have edited it.
8. Audience Appeal
I think that I have appealed to my target audience quite well. I think that I have appealed to
my male target audience very well as football is more popular in men than football and my
product was specifically football. I also think that I targeted my age audience which was 15-
30 , this is because my product included facts in a slightly informal way about todays football
matches. This appeals to my audience as they will all be intrigued in football. I also think that
I have appealed to the middle class audience as football does not really have connotations of
posh and high class. To appeal to that audience I spoke quite informally. Finally I think that I
have appealed to the balanced audience as they are not really interested in achieving
anything whilst listening to my product.
10. Feedback 1
• What did you like about the product?
– I liked the content as it tells the audience what is happening on
that day.
– I also like how you used 2 people as it makes it more interesting.
What improvements could have been made to the product?
• One improvement is that you could have made it longer.
• You could also of added more info on the teams playing.
11. Feedback 2
• What did you like about the product?
– I like the audio quality as there is not any
interruptions.
– I like the amount of information you both read out.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• Could have been longer.
• Could of included more games
12. Feedback 3
• What did you like about the product?
– I liked the final whistle at the end as it symbolises
the end of a football match.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
• Could have filmed your podcast.
13. Peer Feedback Summary
• What do you agree with from your peer
feedback?
• I agree with making the podcast longer as it is quite short. I also agree
with the quality of the audio as in my opinion I think that is sounds decent.
Finally I agree with adding more information in the podcast as it doesn’t
really tell the audience the tactics , the managers and where they are
playing.
• What do you disagree with from your peer
feedback?
• I disagree with filming it , this is because I have no where to recorded it
in terms of a studio. I also think that I would need more people to join the
podcast if we where filming it as it would probably last longer.
14. Peer Feedback Summary
One change I will make is make it longer. This is because then
the audience will also get more information about todays
games. Also when making it longer I will also add more games
in the podcast. I could possibly add midweek games or
upcoming fixtures. Another change I will make is add a
possible interview from the mangers all the players playing
that day. I could also add possible tactics or how that team
may be playing that day. Finally I could add the past results of
the team they are playing for example I shall tell the audience
the last 2 or 3 results of for example Manchester united vs
Swansea.
