Rocks and Dates Geology Analysis
The Grand Canyon is a wonderful place to gain a sense of how old the earth really is because of the
ability to date the layers of rock in the canyon. The Rocks exposed in Grand Canyon are truly ancient,
ranging from 1840 million years old or 1.84 billion years old (to 270 million years of age. (Beus, and
Morales, 2003). While the Grand Canyon is not old in comparison to much of the earth, it is
considered young earth because it was slivered by an ie in the last six million years. This gives the
rocks in the Canyon Ice age fossils and new deposits, in the grand scheme of things. Some of the
younger deposits in the Canyon are only a thousand years old and are the result of lava that began to
come into the geographic. It is the walls of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The oldest recorded rock in the Grand Canyon is Elves Chasm Gneiss. It is speculated to have formed
in 1840 m.y. and is older than any other rock found in the Grand Canyon. The specific origin of the
Elves Chasm formation is unclear, but researchers believe that it may have formed from fragments of
continental crust (Dehler, et al, 1999). It is said that most of the rocks in the canyon formed between
1750 and 1680 Ma. It is most likely that the area of the Grand Canyon was volcanic and the rest of the
canyons deep crevasses were created by erosion from water. This also shows that the canyon area was
at a peak with metamorphism and igneous interference.
Vishnu Schist is common in the Grand Canyon along with three other kinds of Schist. The estimated
time that this schist formed was between 1700 and 1600 Ma. Each of the schist are formed from
different rock types. The most well known, Vishnu Schist was formed from metamorphosed
sedimentary rock. The other schist Brahma and Rama Schist s are formed from metamorphosed
volcanic rock. (Dehler, et al, 1999). The schist rocks, which are metamorphic are actually categorized
as Paleoproterozoic supracrustal rocks. These types of rock are found in the Upper Granite Gorge. In
their article, Tectonic evolution of Paleoproterozoic rocks in the Grand Canyon: Insights into middle

Analysis Of Fred Ebb s Cabaret
What good is sitting alone in your room? Come hear the music play; Life is a cabaret, old chum,
Come to the cabaret. Fred Ebb wrote these lyrics for a song, sung by Sally Bowles, in the play
Cabaret. Fred Ebb was the lyricist for this play, while John Kander was the composer. In 1972, Joe
Masteroff was the writer and the Producer was Harold Prince, the production was based in 1930 s
Berlin. This production was based during the time when Nazism was rising to power everywhere, but
especially in the heart of Germany, which was Berlin. Germany was already greatly crippled with debt
from World War One and also from after that with the Wall Street s stock market crash, the 1930 s was
a tough time for the entire nation. The 1930 s is when Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party wanted to
become part of parliament, and Hitler, became a hit. He made many promises to the world, and he
restored everyone s hope and made them all feel like they could conquer anything as a country
together. Hitler made people feel like their opinions mattered to him, even when they did not. When
the Nazi s came to power, even the police leaned more toward that power, not just because they were
in power, but because they believed in the party and the points that they were making. It was better to
be safe from discrimination than to be discriminated against. There was a multitude of Nazism and
Antisemitism throughout this time, and it affected the Jewish party greatly, being hated and
discriminated against is

Importance Of Drinking Water Essay
Rural India has more than 700 million people residing in about 1.42 million habitations spread over 15
diverse ecological regions. Meeting the drinking water needs of such a large population can be a
daunting task. The non uniformity in level of awareness, socio economic development, education,
poverty, practices and rituals and water availability add to the complexity of the task. Despite an
estimated total of Rs. 1,105 billion spent on providing safe drinking water since the First Five Year
Plan was launched in 1951, lack of safe and clean drinking water continues to be a major obstacle and
a national economic burden.
Around 37.7 million Indians are affected by waterborne diseases annually; 1.5 million children are
estimated to die of diarrhoea alone in each year.
In our constitution the provision of safe drinking water has been given utmost priority, with Article 47
conferring the duty of providing clean drinking water and improving public health standards to the
State. The government has undertaken various programmes and policies since independence to
provide safe drinking water to the rural population. Till the 10th plan, an estimated total of Rs.1,105
billion spent on providing secure drinking water. One would argue that the expenditure is huge but it
is also true that despite such expenditure lack of safe and secure drinking water continues to be a
major issue and challenge for our country.
On one hand the pressures of development is changing the distribution of

Advantages Of Orthodontic Treatment Planning
INTRODUCTION
As they say What we measure shapes what we collectively strive to pursue and what we pursue
determines what we measure . If u can make the diagnosis, the treatment is easy and the damage can
be reserved but making the diagnosis can be tricky. Successful orthodontic treatment is based on
comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning. Orthodontic treatment planning poses significant
challenges for clinicians with their ability to provide the predictable results for a patient in effective
and safest manner.1. Similarly, orthodontists must objectively address the challenge of assessing
treatment results1. The tooth size specifically the mesiodistal width of the teeth is one of the basic
fundamentals with which the orthodontist has to deal2.

integral part of armamentarium used for treatment planning and diagnosis traditionally, diagnostic
measurements has been obtained from plaster dental casts. An orthodontist should be skilled in
measuring mesiodistal teeth width accurately. Any flaws in this measurement may lead to errors
between total tooth material and arch length. Study models provide a three dimensional view of
maxillary and mandibular dental arches in all three planes of space i.e transverse, sagittal and vertical.
The consumer protection act 1987 (United Kingdom) for medico legal purposes, states that it is

Essay On College Athletes Are Not Paid
College athletes have always been worked beyond imagine, and it is ridiculous to think that even in
today s society, college athletes are not paid. Unlike regular college students, student athletes are not
able to work jobs or make extra money because they put over forty hours a week in to their respective
sport. More often than not college athletes are taken advantage of because they put their bodies at risk
for injury and have no insurance or income to make it worthwhile. Of course, some college athletes do
go on to make millions of dollars, but that is only the case for a small percentage of college athletes,
and since college sports brings in billions of dollars a year, college athletes should earn at least a small
profit. Furthermore, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Allen Sack, athletes are already essentially paid to play, by getting to go to college for
free, but they also deserve the same rights and benefits as other employees, which could include
medical benefits, workers compensation when injured, and the right to build financial security for
their family while in college, and the denial of these rights is morally unconscionable (Sack). It does
not make sense that college athletes are not paid because these athletes are the sole reason for
popularity in the college athletic apparel market, which brings in millions of dollars a year, yet college
athletes do not see a dime, even though they are the reason for sold jerseys and other apparel. Even
worse is the fact that college athletes are prone to getting injured and a rising star with a great future
ahead of him or her can have their contract (scholarships) canceled once a school realizes that they
will no longer be bringing value or money to their school. Of course, this sounds cruel, but it is the
reality for some college athletes, and it is an option that must be extinguished because not only do
regular students deserve reassurance and stability, but college athletes do

Business Management At Corporate And Our Facilities Essay
The People Process Restructuring In 2014 my current employer Silfex has entered a restructuring
hierarchy. During this year we obtained a new General Manager and he is focused on aligning our
business with our owner s structure and combining similar business operations. Our previous structure
was considered a Matrix structure that had direct reports from both corporate and our site, this system
caused tension between managers at corporate and our facility. In this change our General Manager
obtained more direct reports which overwhelmed his working duties with the owners and customer
relations. His top project was to develop a structure that showed accountability for all management to
execute in a given time period. The Pyramid structure was introduced as our new structure. This
structure added one layer of management between the Director level and the General Manager which
is considered a Senior Director. Implementing this has allowed our management to stay focused and
connected to our internal operations while the GM and Senior Directors focus on executive and
customer relations. For this added layer of management the engineering and manufacturing operations
have adopted a 4 up system that updates the top management on our project and top focus dealing
with yield or scheduling issues. As our business is projected to increase within the next 2 3 years it
will be interesting how this structure will absorb an overloaded time schedule. From an internal

A Dream Deferred
The poetry of Langston Hughes, the poet laureate of Harlem, is an effective commentary on the
condition of blacks in America during the 20th Century. Hughes places particular emphasis on
Harlem, a black area in New York that became a destination of many hopeful blacks in the first half of
the 1900ís. In much of Hughes poetry, a theme that runs throughout is that of a dream deferred. The
recurrence of a dream deferred in several Hughes poems paints a clear picture of the disappointment
and dismay that blacks in America faced in Harlem. Furthermore, as each poem develops, so does the
feeling behind a dream deferred, growing more serious and even angry with each new stanza. br br To

The poem changes moods with the lines I ve seen them come dark/ out of Penn Station / but the trains
are late. / The gates are open / Yet there re bars / at each gate. The people have not found what they
expected and hoped for in Harlem. These last lines help the reader to understand the feelings that
accompanied the harsh reality of Harlem. The addition of the blunt question, What happens / to a
dream deferred? maintains this understanding: this is the dream deferred, and this is what the people
were experiencing. The question is harsh and unyielding, and its position in the poem creates a feeling
of seriousness. Another Hughes poem, Same in Blues, attempts to establish further the idea of a dream
deferred, incorporating a type of dialogue between characters to explain the components of a dream
deferred, adding an element of anger to the end. The first stanza has a woman telling her man that she
has to keep moving, followed by the lines, There s a certain / amount of traveling / in a dream
deferred. This method continues through four stanzas, where peopl converse, and a new component is
introduced: a certain amount of nothing, a certain amount of impotence. The last component the poem
introduces is the most effective: There s liable / to be confusion / in a dream deferred. The poem
continues to say that there s liable to be confusion / when a dream

Title: Presence of L2 accent in L3 Acquisition
1. Introduction:
Second language acquisition (L2) has been often regarded as an important stage for language learning
after acquired the first language. However, it is evident that Third Language Acquisition (L3) has
become increasingly important and it is a new and hot topic for many scholars due to the multilingual
culture in nowadays society. Over the past few decades, many scholars have investigated that L3
acquisition is more specific as L3 learners have already had an L2 in mind which they acquired certain
linguistic knowledge. Gut (2009) mentioned that the learners could apply the previous language
learning experience onto the learning process of a new language. Thus, L3 learners are more
competitive as they became bilingual speaker after the acquisition of two languages and they are able
to draw more linguistic competence and cognitive skills and perform better than monolingual speaker.
In addition, Lipinska (2015) stated that L3 pronunciation research is still an undeveloped topic to be
investigated and more research are required to elaborate the reason behind the effect of L1 and L2
imposed on L3 production. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Like a Susquehanna Tree, life is brought upon the tree with light and water. The light and water travels
throughout the Susquehanna Tree, the water is absorbed by the roots and the roots bring the water to
the trunk into the branches, while light is brought down by the leaves, into the branches, through the
trunk, and down into the roots. The trunk grows because of the roots and the branches, just how the
ways of knowing are the necessity to the obtainment of knowledge. Because of the ways of knowing,
such as, sense perception, memory, reason, language, emotion, faith, imagination, and intuition, the
areas of knowledge and our shared knowledge are being acquired and expanded as they are being
further investigated. The prescribed title displays a wide range of ideas that the areas of knowledge are
being used to give knowledge as the ways of knowing and used to build and/or create the areas of
knowledge. Both ways of knowing and areas of knowledge intertwine with their own concepts and
perspectives, like a Susquehanna Tree that needs its branches and roots in order to have a strong trunk.
The Arts, for example, as an area of knowledge, uses a network of at least six ways of knowing, such
as memory, sense perception, intuition, imagination, faith, and emotion. Artists create and produce
whatever is influencing them, like most famous artists, they are influenced by events that happened in

The War I Left Men Wound Mentally And Physically
For World War I left men wound mentally and physically. About thirty one percent of the men were
either wounded in the line of fire or had nightmares of what happen in the trenches (Brose, 111). For
example, a soldier named Paul saw his fellow soldier, Behm get struck in the eye with a shell in the
line of fire (Remarque, 12). These sights caused men to repress their worries because they did not
want to die in the war. In order for them to survive, they had to come to the realization to repress the
questions of why they were fighting and what they were fighting for out of their minds (Remarque,
138). By the 1920 s the warfare had increased, but in a way that was not on the battlefields and was

Moreover, the Russian Revolution was the outcome of the communist party wanting to have complete
control over the citizens in Russia. They displayed this idea with their thoughts about removing the
practice of religion. They saw religion as an opium, for they believed it caused the people to be
inactive mainly the working class (Brose, 167). For they saw religion as a malicious idea, which
caused them to see churches as a danger to the bourgeoisie because they believed that the proletarians
were planning evil events against them (Brose, 167). Eisenstein demonstrated the communist
oppression of religion with the jester on the cross in the priest s hand as being a weapon (Bordwell,
66). When the priest in Battleship Potemkin was stroking the cross as a dagger. Another example in
the film was when he was tapping the cross in hand while the guards were getting ready to kill the
workers. He tapped the cross three times like a hypnotist hypnotizing them from shooting the workers.
This perspective that Stalin and the communist party had made a major impact on the culture within
Russia, just like other political groups had done in other countries, especially in Germany. Germany
after World War I and around the time of the Russian Revolution had experienced a culture change.
People within Europe had begun to attend theaters, athletic events, and more to escape from the reality
of the aftermath of the wars (Brose, 145). During

Discussing Your Present Leisure Interests
DB#6 1. Discuss your present leisure interests. Also indicate and explain which of these interests you
expect will change and which you expect to remain stable as you age. My leisure activates are now
few and far between as time usually does not permit. I have always enjoyed reading and I started
knitting at the age of 26. However I cherish the time I spend with my 5 year old niece. I usually keep
her once a week, more often when our school schedules allow it. The reading and knitting are
expected to stay fairly stable throughout my life with the exceptions of my body aging. It may come to
a point that I have trouble seeing as I age (as early as 40 visual changes can occur), farsightedness
increases with age while nearsightedness decreases (Berger, 2010). This would make knitting and
reading more challenging, if I was unable to see close up. Spending time with my niece will change
drastically as we both age. She will be become more interested in relationships, whether they are
friendships or romantic relationships and will want to spend a greater amount of time with her social
clique or crowd. She is an extremely social child so I imagine she will remain so as she grows. Also
she is now extremely active, if she remains that way she will want to participate in sports. As for my
body it will continue to age, so the agility and physical endurance I currently posses will continue to
decrease. She has yet to reach her physical peak of being stronger and more physically in shape

Examples Of Phoniness In Catcher In The Rye
Phoniness in The Catcher in the Rye In our society, we all hide our true nature and act in ways to
please others or to appear differently. One example of this is when many are with friends, as seen in
the song The Art of Peer Pressure by Kendrick Lamar, a track in the album good kid, m.A.A.d city. In
it, the song describes a youth who is misled by his friends, and despite not truly enjoying what he
does, partakes in drug and alcohol abuse with his friends, and eventually, partake in gang violence. As
the youth, K.Dot, stays more with his friends, he performs actions that he declares he had never done
before, and only does it because of peer pressure. This kind of showing an outward surface is a theme

This self destructive behavior is another one of the many created by his worldview of others as
phonies . One example can be seen in page 75, where Holden states that life itself makes [him] so
depressed. This shows us how his worldview that focuses on the negative aspects of everyone could
be problematic, as it leads Holden on to develop depression. Another example can be seen in Chapter
7, where Holden states I just didn t want to hang around any more. It made me too sad and lonesome.
(page 29) His motivation to leave Pencey Prep is shown to be one of having developed depression
after seeing everyone there as phonies. Once again, this displays a prime example of how Holden s
idea of phonies can lead to self destructive actions such as developing depression. A third example of
this can be found towards the end of the book, where Holden straight up states that he really felt like,
committing suicide. (104) By this point, we see the final phase of his depression created by his phony
worldview, presenting an extremely self destructive behavior and mindset in depression. Holden
develops depression through his worldview of others as phonies , which shows how problematic his

The purpose of this experiment was to identify how open and closed circulatory systems respond to
chemical stimulants. During this experiment a ghost shrimp represented the open circulatory system,
while the black worm represented the closed circulatory system. For each organism there resting heart
rates were recorded by count the number of pulsations the organism had under a microscope. First, the
shrimp and the worm were treated with caffeine, and then their heart rate was recorded after the
organisms were exposed to the treatment for three minutes. The organisms were removed from the
caffeine, and were given time to return back to their resting heart rates. The shrimp and the worm were

7.5 beats. From this data we can conclude that caffeine acted as a chemical stimulant and speed up
how frequently the heart was pumping blood into the system. Ethanol acted as a chemical sedative and
slowed down how many times the heart pumped blood into the system. Even though the two
organisms had different circulatory systems, they were still affected in the same manner. The only

Healthy Dental Habits Include Flossing
A Family Dentist in Red Deer Helps Instill Good Oral Hygiene in Children
Getting your child started with a proper oral hygiene plan is critical to his or her health. In fact, even
pre school age children may require oral surgery if they don t implement the right habits. By teaching
your child to regularly brush and floss now, you can help him or her avoid many dental issues in the
future.
It is not unusual for a parent to doubt the necessity of flossing for a child. This could be a tragic
mistake to make. If your child does not start flossing as early as possible, he or she could manifest
preventable cavities. Additionally, neglecting to floss may result in gum disease and loss of adult teeth

Here are some tips on flossing from your local dentists:
Why Flossing Is Important: Brushing every day is essential, but it isn t as effective as daily brushing
and flossing. Although a toothbrush works to remove plaque, it cannot reach between the teeth or
underneath the gums. Your child needs dental floss to access those areas. Neglecting to floss enables
harmful bacteria to grow there. That growth may result in many oral health problems.
Display a Chart: Children respond positively to visual cues, so consider hanging a printable flossing
chart with a calendar in your bathroom. You can give your child a sticker to reward him or her for
flossing on a daily basis. Let your child place the stickers on the calendar to reflect every flossing
session.
Floss with Your Child: To further promote this healthy habit, floss with your child every day. Show
your child how to floss, and then, floss your own teeth along with him or her. If you are unsure about
how to demonstrate flossing to your little one, ask your Red Deer dentist for guidance. Your family

Critical Analysis Of Bartleby The Scrivener
Herman Melville s Bartleby, the Scrivener and Willa Cather s Paul s Case present the complexity of
both the experience and interpretation of loneliness by providing two antithetical lenses through which
to view the title characters isolation. The end of Bartleby, the Scrivener is consolatory in nature, for
Melville s narrator sympathetically transfigures Bartleby from a symbol of difference to one of
commonality. Melville implies that there is comfort to be sought in placing Bartleby within a larger

Paul by implying that the events presented in the narrative are unusual and are consequently under
examination. Thus, the stories differentially emphasize the requirement of a compassionate reading, as
indicated by the language of the titles. It is this incongruity in the stories presupposition of readerly
sympathy that the endings confirm and use to enhance the authorial attitudes.
The final scenes of Bartleby, the Scrivener and Paul s Case affirm the contrasting positions set up by
their titles through their opposing applications of hope, closure, and consolation. In accordance with
Melville s prescription of a sympathetic reading, he indicates that there is hope to be found at the end
of the story. Despite the amazing thickness (Melville 536) of the jail walls within which Bartleby is
kept, there is grass that, by some strange magic (Melville 536), began growing. The image of the grass
blossoming in a setting that is not conducive to germination provides hope that something may grow
out of the narrator s experience with Bartleby. In fact, the almost talismanic quality of the blooming
grass implies that there may even be hope for Bartleby, who by nature and misfortune (Melville 537)
was disposed to a pallid hopelessness (Melville 537).

William Faulkner s Literary Analysis
William Cuthbert Faulkner was an American writer, born on September 25, 1897 in Oxford,
Mississippi. He died on July 6, 1962, of a heart attack. Faulkner is credited with many literary works
including novels, short stories and poetry. He had a tendency to focus his writings on families, time,
sex, the past and the south where he was born. He created voices for children, criminals, the mentally
unstable and the dead (Faulkner, 2013). In Faulkner s A Rose for Emily, he elucidates the effect of
time versus tradition and looking at the world in a vividly obscured view through symbolic
representations anchored to a rose and a house.
This house, like Emily Grierson, represented the wealth and tradition of the Old South. Built in 1870s,

The rose is most often thought of as a symbol for love in which case Homer is the representation the
rose or love for Emily. Her father thought no man was good enough for her or for the Grierson family.
Therefore, she was never able to experience desire or the rose of love until she met Homer. However,
there is another meaning of rose to consider. In Medieval times the rose was used as a sign of silence
or secrecy (Lowe, 2001, Feb 14). A rose was hung from the ceiling at a meeting of secret societies
indicating a demand for discretion. The rose in the title of the story could therefore stand for Emily s
secret; that is Homer her rose whom she cherished, loved and kept to herself even after his body was
corrupted by the decay of

Professional Athletes
Athletes are paid too much Do athletes make too much money? Most people today think so because
the amount of money they make for entertaining the public. Kobe Bryant makes more than a yearly
teacher salary by making a single basket. Doctors and surgeons make life saving decisions every day
and make significantly less than a rookie in a professional sport. An average professional athlete
makes two million six hundred thousand dollars more than the president of the United States who
makes critical decisions for our country. We have millions of people in poverty, while these athletes
are making so much money, majority of the time they don t know what to do with it. While these
professional athletes bring so much entertainment into the world, ... Show more content on

Police officers don t get paid enough for the situations they have to deal with that can possible cost
their life. Firefighters also deserve more money for what they do. Firefighters go fight fires that can
turn on them at any moment that could cause them to give up their lives. Along with police officers,
firefighter deserve better pay for what they do for our community. Lastly, paramedics deserve a pay
raise more than professional athletes do. Paramedics get paid the least out of all of these other
occupations and they have a difficult job. Their main objective is to get people to the hospital as fast
as possible and alive. Professional athletes should give up some of their money to help pay for these
occupations that deserve them (Bhagat, M., 2017).
Also, teachers deserve better pay because the play a more important role in society than athletes.
Teachers get us prepared for life through the information they teach us. None of these professional
athletes would be where they are today without the dedication teachers put into our lives. With the
amount of pay offered for a teacher, young adults that dreamed of becoming teachers will get turned
down because the pay isn t enough for the time they invest. They spend long hard working nights
preparing the lesson plans for the next day to help us as students gain more knowledge and also point
us in the right direction for our futures. With that being said, my conspiracy is that we

Core Functions Of The Public Health System
Windshield Assessment One of three core functions of the public health system is community
assessment. The goals of community assessment are to collect primary data to understand about
Harahan community and provide foundation for improving and promoting the health of the
community. After we gained primary data in the first two weeks, secondary data collected during the
third week, and we combined both data to identify the needs and assets of Harahan community. Then
we formulate possibility nursing diagnosis and intervention for the community based on our
community assessment. To get an overview of Harahan community. We separated in two cars in the
first week. One group drove around the Hickory avenue and interviewed local informants from the
library, the donut coffee shop, and Mayor of Harahan city. While the other group interviewed a citizen
from park, a waitress from restaurant and firefighter from fire department. Harahan library provides
collection of books, magazines video and free wifi access. The library also has stories and creative
activities for children from three to seven. Its parking lot is a little small with seven spots in the front.
Tastee donut shop where locals like to hang out is next to the library. The waitress told us that the shop
was busy in the morning with more locals, but by noon the business was slow and the place was
empty during game time. The second week, we came back

caught in their own individual marital obligations to people other than themselves. The passion they
have for each other, though, overtakes any kind of desire to stay committed to their spouses with
minimal regrets as the story progresses. A great majority of the narrative in the The Storm implies that
testing ones boundaries in human sexuality is one of the more passionate forms of asserting one s own
independence. This approach greatly contradicts the opposing beliefs of traditional cultures that have
an extreme disapproval of any kind of experimentation or heavy passion outside of one s own
marriage. Despite the fact that extra marital activities such as the ones that occurred between Calixta

Being alone with this prior lover, though, brought back that longing for him and it was stronger than
ever before. There was something she had with Alcee that was not present in her relationship with
Bobinot. She loved him, but one thing was missing that she at the time could not put her finger on. It
was passion. The zeal she shared with Alcee overtook her and she was the first one to initiate the
situation that her and Alcee found themselves in when ... she [Calixta] rolled up a piece of bagging
and Alcee helped her to thrust it beneath the crack (532). As with the rest of the story, the imagery in
this quote is extremely sexual. Calixta knew what she wanted and she was anything but shy in going
out of her way to get it. Alcee may not have been aware at first, but as he helped her thrust the bagging
under the door to keep out the storm brewing outside, he was also aiding in keeping in the other
obvious storm about to erupt inside.
Alcee started feeling the tension soon enough though and he began noticing every beautiful physical
aspect of Calixta possible. It may not have been intentional, but Alcee himself did not have the power
inside of him to stop it, nor did he even want to stop it. In describing the way Alcee had started
viewing Calixta, Chopin wrote:
Her lips were as red and moist as pomegranate seed. Her white neck and a glimpse of her full, firm
bosom disturbed him powerfully. As she glanced up at him the fear in her liquid blue eyes had

Persepolis
A Color Has Many Meanings Persepolis is a story that is illustrated in black and white. The author,
Marjane Satrapi, uses many visual techniques throughout the story to draw in the reader and develop
the storyline. One of these visual techniques is that she chooses to use the color of the characters
clothing as a representation of how they feel towards the revolution. The characters are shown wearing
black, white, or a mixed black and white pattern. The characters in Persepolis are drawn with white
clothing when they are supporting the revolution. There are many instances throughout the story when
characters are drawn with white clothing, especially Marjane s family. A year after the Islamic
Revolution started, children were obligated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People opposing the revolution are always shown in black. This includes the army, and people who
torture progressive prisoners. Examples of these can be found on pages 51 and 18. Whenever a
progressive person has been punished by the fundamentalists, they are shown in black instead of
white. This could be because the fundamentalists have forced their views upon this captured and
punished person. Examples of this happening are when political prisoners are released from prison and
wearing black (Satrapi 47), when Marjane s mother has been verbally tormented by fundamentalists
(Satrapi 74), and finally when Siamak s sister was killed and found in the street and is drawn in black
(Satrapi 66). Sometimes Marjane is shown in black. This occurs when her religious views are seeping
through. She claims she wants to be the next prophet. Since this is a religious view that would support
the Shah and the fundamentalist side, Marjane is shown in black (Satrapi 6). After Marjane learns
about the King and God in school, she goes home to her parents and tells them how much she loves
the King because he was chosen by God. She is of course wearing black in this panel because it is
supporting the fundamentalist side of the revolution (Satrapi 19). The Shah believes in eliminating
social classes and having everyone look the

Medieval Themes Reflected in Modern Literature and Movies...
The common themes often presented in tales of the Medieval times still make appearances in the films
and literature that are popular among our society today. The book The Kindness of Strangers, written
by Katrina Kittle, and the movie King Kong, directed by Peter Jackson, are two examples that portray
many known characteristics of the times of King Arthur, such as honor, chivalry, loyalty, and bravery.
The legend of King Arthur revolves around the Knights Code of Chivalry. Although there was not an
official Code of Chivalry, there were a multitude of well known ideals that all knights were to
represent. It was a system of morals that introduced certain qualities idealized outside of battle
qualities such as bravery, courtesy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sarah tries to remain loyal to Courtney because of the wonderful friend she has always been to her,
but the evidence is piled against her, so she is forced to accept the truth. Jordan has a stay in the
hospital before he is forced to start looking for a foster home. Sarah s son Nate feels that his family
could help Jordan and her other son, Danny, agrees, although he had a falling out with Jordan some
time before this. Jordan agrees and moves in with the Laden s, where his life will never be the same
again.
Danny and Jordan previously had a falling out, which you later find out is because Jordan was trying
to protect Danny from his parents. He claims that he did not want to help recruit children for his
parents and is mean to Danny to save him from suffering the same fate, which is very brave and
honorable of him. Sarah also shows her bravery for taking on such a huge responsibility by adopting
Jordan and fighting for his safety. The Laden s are faced with a lot of challenges because of this, but
they choose to stick with their decision and protect Jordan, which upholds one of the most important
ideals of the Knights Code of Chivalry.

Themes Of Adaptations
We may not be responsible for the world that created our minds, but we can take responsibility for the
mind with which we create our world said Gabor Mate. What does this mean? This quote is a verbal
support to some of the themes that are prevalent in psychology. One of these themes are adaptation.
Adaptations is the behavior in which something or someone learns, and inverts to carry out through
their own actions later. Take a child with an amputated leg for example. If the child has become
dependent on walking with both legs, it is going to be difficult for them to realize that they must learn
to walk with only one leg. Knowing this, the child is taught to maneuver things in their life to
successfully walk with only one leg, they must adapt ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The students not only adapted to the living environment, they even began referring to themselves as
the numbers placed on their clothing. The amount of psychological stress they were put under was
tested to the extreme, not only for the prisoners, but for the guards as well. As for the judge, he was
adapting to both what was expected as well as what he had experienced. He became the people of the
system that he hated because the actions that were forced upon him, as he stated in the previous quote.
He was an innocent man treated as felon because of societies standards of what a criminal looked like.
This is ironic because that directly related to the students involved in the experiment. They were
innocent kids that volunteered for an experiment, not knowing what was about to happen to them. The
Stanford Prison Experiment was relevant to psychology because it showed just how much the mind,
behavior and emotions can be affected when you bring a surreal reality into someone s life who has
never had that type of exposure to the situation at hand. Bringing these types of psychological
measures into effect leads to the next topic to explore in social construct is

Vaccination Of Children Should Be Compulsory
What are some of the objections to childhood vaccinations that have been made by various
stakeholders? Given the basis for these objections, should the vaccination of children be compulsory?
Compare examples from developed and developing countries. Mr Teanibuaka Tabunga: ID: 18260601
Course: ELB Introduction Vaccinations of children are one of the global health commitment to
improving the children s health and free them from preventable contagious, and life threatening
diseases like Measles, Diphtheria, and polio. According to WHO (2013), vaccinations or

It will argue that vaccinations should be compulsory because there are a number of shreds of evidence
that children still dying from preventable diseases (Tabunga, 2013, Amy and Robert 1992, Lontos,
Jackson and Harrison 2012). For the purpose of this essay, stakeholders, in this case, refers to the
parents, religious beliefs, and government. Parents Objections to Immunizations There are quite some
reasons why parents refuse to get their children vaccinated. According to Tarrant and Gregory (2001),
parents refused to immunize their children because they have influenced by other s stories of sequelae
about immunization side effects. The adverse impact of injections and immunizations like fever,
irritability and rashes actually, did not stop parents to have their children immunized. This kind of
conversation can impact on parents, and reluctant to immunization, if it is being spread around the
communities repeatedly. The researchers further explain that mothers have the unique ideas about
immunization because they think, vaccinating their children will free, kids from diseases. The study
supported, by other two researchers Angelillo et.al (1999) and White (1995), where they share similar
results, that parents stopped immunizing their children because they ve heard negative implications of
the vaccinations in their communities by other parents. In brief, the reason behind these objections

How Does Alfred Lord Tennyson Use Imagery In The Charge Of...
The Bravery of War The Charge of the Light Brigade is a poem written by Alfred Lord Tennyson
commemorating the bravery of British soldiers during the Crimean War. Acting upon a mistaken order,
the soldiers make a valiant yet doomed attack against the enemy. Armed with only sabres, the soldiers
suffer heavy losses against the artillery of the enemy and must retreat immediately. Tennyson does not
focus on the mishaps of war but instead upon the bravery of the soldiers in the Light Brigade. He
describes the dangers the soldiers encounter in the battle. Through his use of personification and
imagery along with other literary elements, Tennyson presents a theme of honor as he provides the

  • 2. Rocks and Dates Geology Analysis The Grand Canyon is a wonderful place to gain a sense of how old the earth really is because of the ability to date the layers of rock in the canyon. The Rocks exposed in Grand Canyon are truly ancient, ranging from 1840 million years old or 1.84 billion years old (to 270 million years of age. (Beus, and Morales, 2003). While the Grand Canyon is not old in comparison to much of the earth, it is considered young earth because it was slivered by an ie in the last six million years. This gives the rocks in the Canyon Ice age fossils and new deposits, in the grand scheme of things. Some of the younger deposits in the Canyon are only a thousand years old and are the result of lava that began to come into the geographic. It is the walls of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The oldest recorded rock in the Grand Canyon is Elves Chasm Gneiss. It is speculated to have formed in 1840 m.y. and is older than any other rock found in the Grand Canyon. The specific origin of the Elves Chasm formation is unclear, but researchers believe that it may have formed from fragments of continental crust (Dehler, et al, 1999). It is said that most of the rocks in the canyon formed between 1750 and 1680 Ma. It is most likely that the area of the Grand Canyon was volcanic and the rest of the canyons deep crevasses were created by erosion from water. This also shows that the canyon area was at a peak with metamorphism and igneous interference. Vishnu Schist is common in the Grand Canyon along with three other kinds of Schist. The estimated time that this schist formed was between 1700 and 1600 Ma. Each of the schist are formed from different rock types. The most well known, Vishnu Schist was formed from metamorphosed sedimentary rock. The other schist Brahma and Rama Schist s are formed from metamorphosed volcanic rock. (Dehler, et al, 1999). The schist rocks, which are metamorphic are actually categorized as Paleoproterozoic supracrustal rocks. These types of rock are found in the Upper Granite Gorge. In their article, Tectonic evolution of Paleoproterozoic rocks in the Grand Canyon: Insights into middle crustal process, Bradley Ilg, Karl Karlstrom, David Hawkins, ... • 3. Analysis Of Fred Ebb s Cabaret What good is sitting alone in your room? Come hear the music play; Life is a cabaret, old chum, Come to the cabaret. Fred Ebb wrote these lyrics for a song, sung by Sally Bowles, in the play Cabaret. Fred Ebb was the lyricist for this play, while John Kander was the composer. In 1972, Joe Masteroff was the writer and the Producer was Harold Prince, the production was based in 1930 s Berlin. This production was based during the time when Nazism was rising to power everywhere, but especially in the heart of Germany, which was Berlin. Germany was already greatly crippled with debt from World War One and also from after that with the Wall Street s stock market crash, the 1930 s was a tough time for the entire nation. The 1930 s is when Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party wanted to become part of parliament, and Hitler, became a hit. He made many promises to the world, and he restored everyone s hope and made them all feel like they could conquer anything as a country together. Hitler made people feel like their opinions mattered to him, even when they did not. When the Nazi s came to power, even the police leaned more toward that power, not just because they were in power, but because they believed in the party and the points that they were making. It was better to be safe from discrimination than to be discriminated against. There was a multitude of Nazism and Antisemitism throughout this time, and it affected the Jewish party greatly, being hated and discriminated against is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Importance Of Drinking Water Essay Rural India has more than 700 million people residing in about 1.42 million habitations spread over 15 diverse ecological regions. Meeting the drinking water needs of such a large population can be a daunting task. The non uniformity in level of awareness, socio economic development, education, poverty, practices and rituals and water availability add to the complexity of the task. Despite an estimated total of Rs. 1,105 billion spent on providing safe drinking water since the First Five Year Plan was launched in 1951, lack of safe and clean drinking water continues to be a major obstacle and a national economic burden. Around 37.7 million Indians are affected by waterborne diseases annually; 1.5 million children are estimated to die of diarrhoea alone in each year. In our constitution the provision of safe drinking water has been given utmost priority, with Article 47 conferring the duty of providing clean drinking water and improving public health standards to the State. The government has undertaken various programmes and policies since independence to provide safe drinking water to the rural population. Till the 10th plan, an estimated total of Rs.1,105 billion spent on providing secure drinking water. One would argue that the expenditure is huge but it is also true that despite such expenditure lack of safe and secure drinking water continues to be a major issue and challenge for our country. • 5. Advantages Of Orthodontic Treatment Planning INTRODUCTION As they say What we measure shapes what we collectively strive to pursue and what we pursue determines what we measure . If u can make the diagnosis, the treatment is easy and the damage can be reserved but making the diagnosis can be tricky. Successful orthodontic treatment is based on comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning. Orthodontic treatment planning poses significant challenges for clinicians with their ability to provide the predictable results for a patient in effective and safest manner.1. Similarly, orthodontists must objectively address the challenge of assessing treatment results1. The tooth size specifically the mesiodistal width of the teeth is one of the basic fundamentals with which the orthodontist has to deal2. An orthodontist should be skilled in measuring mesiodistal teeth width accurately. Any flaws in this measurement may lead to errors between total tooth material and arch length. Study models provide a three dimensional view of maxillary and mandibular dental arches in all three planes of space i.e transverse, sagittal and vertical. The consumer protection act 1987 (United Kingdom) for medico legal purposes, states that it is necessary to retain all patient records not less than 11 years. • 6. Essay On College Athletes Are Not Paid College athletes have always been worked beyond imagine, and it is ridiculous to think that even in today s society, college athletes are not paid. Unlike regular college students, student athletes are not able to work jobs or make extra money because they put over forty hours a week in to their respective sport. More often than not college athletes are taken advantage of because they put their bodies at risk for injury and have no insurance or income to make it worthwhile. Of course, some college athletes do go on to make millions of dollars, but that is only the case for a small percentage of college athletes, and since college sports brings in billions of dollars a year, college athletes should earn at least a small profit. Furthermore, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Allen Sack, athletes are already essentially paid to play, by getting to go to college for free, but they also deserve the same rights and benefits as other employees, which could include medical benefits, workers compensation when injured, and the right to build financial security for their family while in college, and the denial of these rights is morally unconscionable (Sack). It does not make sense that college athletes are not paid because these athletes are the sole reason for popularity in the college athletic apparel market, which brings in millions of dollars a year, yet college athletes do not see a dime, even though they are the reason for sold jerseys and other apparel. Even worse is the fact that college athletes are prone to getting injured and a rising star with a great future ahead of him or her can have their contract (scholarships) canceled once a school realizes that they will no longer be bringing value or money to their school. Of course, this sounds cruel, but it is the reality for some college athletes, and it is an option that must be extinguished because not only do regular students deserve reassurance and stability, but college athletes do ... During this year we obtained a new General Manager and he is focused on aligning our business with our owner s structure and combining similar business operations. Our previous structure was considered a Matrix structure that had direct reports from both corporate and our site, this system caused tension between managers at corporate and our facility. In this change our General Manager obtained more direct reports which overwhelmed his working duties with the owners and customer relations. His top project was to develop a structure that showed accountability for all management to execute in a given time period. The Pyramid structure was introduced as our new structure. This structure added one layer of management between the Director level and the General Manager which is considered a Senior Director. Implementing this has allowed our management to stay focused and connected to our internal operations while the GM and Senior Directors focus on executive and customer relations. For this added layer of management the engineering and manufacturing operations have adopted a 4 up system that updates the top management on our project and top focus dealing with yield or scheduling issues. • 10. A Dream Deferred The poetry of Langston Hughes, the poet laureate of Harlem, is an effective commentary on the condition of blacks in America during the 20th Century. Hughes places particular emphasis on Harlem, a black area in New York that became a destination of many hopeful blacks in the first half of the 1900ís. In much of Hughes poetry, a theme that runs throughout is that of a dream deferred. The recurrence of a dream deferred in several Hughes poems paints a clear picture of the disappointment and dismay that blacks in America faced in Harlem. The poem changes moods with the lines I ve seen them come dark/ out of Penn Station / but the trains are late. / The gates are open / Yet there re bars / at each gate. The addition of the blunt question, What happens / to a dream deferred? maintains this understanding: this is the dream deferred, and this is what the people were experiencing. The question is harsh and unyielding, and its position in the poem creates a feeling of seriousness. Another Hughes poem, Same in Blues, attempts to establish further the idea of a dream deferred, incorporating a type of dialogue between characters to explain the components of a dream deferred, adding an element of anger to the end. The first stanza has a woman telling her man that she has to keep moving, followed by the lines, There s a certain / amount of traveling / in a dream deferred. This method continues through four stanzas, where peopl converse, and a new component is introduced: a certain amount of nothing, a certain amount of impotence. Introduction: Second language acquisition (L2) has been often regarded as an important stage for language learning after acquired the first language. However, it is evident that Third Language Acquisition (L3) has become increasingly important and it is a new and hot topic for many scholars due to the multilingual culture in nowadays society. Over the past few decades, many scholars have investigated that L3 acquisition is more specific as L3 learners have already had an L2 in mind which they acquired certain linguistic knowledge. Gut (2009) mentioned that the learners could apply the previous language learning experience onto the learning process of a new language. Thus, L3 learners are more competitive as they became bilingual speaker after the acquisition of two languages and they are able to draw more linguistic competence and cognitive skills and perform better than monolingual speaker. About thirty one percent of the men were either wounded in the line of fire or had nightmares of what happen in the trenches (Brose, 111). For example, a soldier named Paul saw his fellow soldier, Behm get struck in the eye with a shell in the line of fire (Remarque, 12). These sights caused men to repress their worries because they did not want to die in the war. In order for them to survive, they had to come to the realization to repress the questions of why they were fighting and what they were fighting for out of their minds (Remarque, 138). Also indicate and explain which of these interests you expect will change and which you expect to remain stable as you age. My leisure activates are now few and far between as time usually does not permit. I have always enjoyed reading and I started knitting at the age of 26. However I cherish the time I spend with my 5 year old niece. I usually keep her once a week, more often when our school schedules allow it. The reading and knitting are expected to stay fairly stable throughout my life with the exceptions of my body aging. It may come to a point that I have trouble seeing as I age (as early as 40 visual changes can occur), farsightedness increases with age while nearsightedness decreases (Berger, 2010). This would make knitting and reading more challenging, if I was unable to see close up. Spending time with my niece will change drastically as we both age. She will be become more interested in relationships, whether they are friendships or romantic relationships and will want to spend a greater amount of time with her social clique or crowd. She is an extremely social child so I imagine she will remain so as she grows. Also she is now extremely active, if she remains that way she will want to participate in sports. As for my body it will continue to age, so the agility and physical endurance I currently posses will continue to decrease.
