The Lachman Test
The Lachman Test is an important diagnostic test for detection of Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL)
pathology (van Eck, 2013) and is frequently used by sports therapists. Joint arthrometry, magnetic
resonance imaging (MRI), and diagnostic arthroscopy are all well established methods to evaluate the
knee for the presence of an ACL tear. However, the clinical gold standard, with well established levels
of accuracy for detecting this injury, is the Lachman test, which is performed with the patient in a
supine position and the knee at 20° to 30° of flexion (Benjaminse, 2006; Ostrowski, 2006). The
grading of the Lachman test is based on the amount of anterior translatory movement (translation) of
the tibia relative to the femur and on the end feel perceived by the examiner. A positive test requires a
soft end feel and observable translation of the tibia (Torg, 1976). ... Show more content on

The patient s knee joint position during the Lachman s test might affect the grade given. Because
examiners do not agree on the position of the knee joint during the Lachman s test, reliability might be
affected if they do not place the knee in the same position each time they administer the test
(Donaldson 1985 ). Similarly, grading might be affected as experience of therapists differs from each
other. Hence, judgments based on the Lachman s test are inconsistent when made by inexperienced
testers, but such judgments become more reliable as testers become more experienced (Dehaven,
1980; Noyes,

How Does Sir Philip Sidney Use Astrophel And Stella
Sir Philip Sidney was one of the most known English poets in the Elizabethan era of time. Astrophel
and Stella is said to have most likely been composed in the 1580s. It is considered an English sonnet
sequence that overall contains 108 sonnets and 11 songs in total. The name Astrophel comes from
Greek origin translating to star lover, ad Stella is originated from Latin which means star as well. In
other words Astrophel is the star lover, and Stella is his star. Some people even say Sidney wrote this
about his own personal love life first about Lady Penelope Devereux, and later on Lady Rich. In
Sonnet 87 Sidney express his love for Stella. He goes on to say, Stella! food of my thoughts, heart of
my heart , in other words he is saying she

Examples Of Richard Nixon Inaugural Speech
World Unity Creates a World of Peace
Every president has a specific vision on how to influence America with their policies. Being the only
president to resign from the presidency makes one wonder what did Nixon want to accomplish as
president. During, every president s first term, they have to figure out how to navigate the office. The
inaugural speech, usually, gives the American people an idea of what the president plans to do, for
America. As president, Nixon accomplished many things and strived to fulfil the promises in his
inaugural speech.
The greatest honor history can bestow is the title of peacemaker a quote from Richard Nixon s
inaugural address. Peace and unity were the main points of the speech. Nixon focused on creating
international peace, with all nations, as well as peace within America. Nixon felt that unity was the
only way for people to live on Earth. Not only was peace a huge factor in Nixon s speech, benefits for
American citizens was important to him, as well. Although, Nixon never stated how he planned to
accomplish things, he did clearly state that he wanted to improve healthcare, education and attain
better housing. Overall, this speech was a beacon of hope for the American people to look forward to.
Nixon was one of the few presidents who have had a second term. Therefore, Nixon had more than
one inaugural speech. Nixon s second speech was very similar to the first speech. Instead, of focusing
on how to be at peace, Nixon assured, the country, that everything was serene and we needed to
maintain it. A person can be expected to act responsibly only if he has responsibility , a quote from
Nixon s second speech. Almost, an ironic statement when Nixon, initially, avoid responsibility for his
crimes. With that being said, Nixon informed Americans that they should be more responsible for
themselves and depend less on the government. More personal responsibility would better America, in
Nixon s eyes. Similarly, to the first speech, Nixon does not state any plans, but this speech was less
inspiring. Unlike, the first speech, this second speech seemed to be a call to action for the American
people.
Obviously, the first and the thirty seventh president had very different priorities

Coca Cola in Africa
1. Why is Coca Cola so interested in Africa, which is typically regarded as part of the base of the
global economic pyramid?
Coca Cola is an organization that has been around since 1892. Coca Cola is looking for new emerging
growth markets and Africa has proven to be that. Combined, 12 of the African countries have a GDP
greater than that of Chine. Coca Cola has 29% of the market share in Africa.
2. What unique resources and capabilities does Coca Cola have that will help it compete well in
Africa?

Sales in the United States are declining due to the public concern over sugar. Sales in Europe and
Japan are flat, while markets in China and India offer up strong completion for Coca Cola. Africa s
middle class population is growing at a steady rate, so the disposable income is increasing. This
creates an opportunity for Coca Cola to tap into growth opportunities (Natalia Cheverri 2012).
How does it work?
Although there are areas in Africa lacking infrastructure, Coca Cola operates in every country. Coca
Cola utilized a franchising manufacturing model that works perfectly for operating in Africa. Coca
Cola partnered with local licensed bottling groups to help create the product. Coca Cola manufactures
the syrup concentrate and sells to the bottlers. The bottlers add filtered water, carbonation, and
sweetener to make the final product. With this model, Coca Cola is sharing the wealth with local
investors/community members. This creates sustainable business and improves community buy in
with Coca Cola s existence in Africa (Maritz Jaco 2010). Because partnerships are formed with local
bottlers and local members of the community, there is a vested interest by the locals to keep Coca Cola
s business successful. Through these partnerships, Coca Cola is able to help build the socio economic
system in different towns.
Distribution
Coca Cola was having difficulty distributing product to different area of Africa with no roads. In

Part A: Density of liquids and Weighing by Difference
Obtain the mass of two dry and empty 125mL or 250mL Erlenmeyer flasks on a milligram balance
and then number it. Record the mass in your data table.
Get a 10.0 mL pipet and suction bulb then use deionized water to rinse the pipet. Then use the rinsed
pipet to add 10.0 mL of deionized water to the flasks weighed previously.
Then obtain the mass of the two flasks with the deionized water in them. If the mass of the water is
between 9.9 g and 10.1 g then you can continue. If the weight of the water does not go between that
range then get two flasks with water that reach that range. Record all trials in data table.

thickness.
Volume of a Solid and Density (1): Use the masses obtained from the electronic balance and also the
measurements of volume through both your ruler measurements and the displacement method in order
to calculate the density of the blocks. The units that should be used for the density is both g/mL and
g/cm^3. Record these calculations in the density calculation tables. Volume of a Solid and Density (2):
Convert the calculations to where their units are lb/ft^3. Use the density reference values to then

The English East India Company
The Portuguese Working Under the English East India Company at Fort St. George Madras in the
Seventeenth Century
The success for the English East India Company making inroads in the Coromandel was due to the
Anglo Portuguese Truce (1630), which made possible for the foundation of an English settlement in
1640 at Madraspatnam. With the establishment of Fort St. George in 1640, slowly the migrants begin
to settle down with the promise of no tax for thirty years, the term of thirty years only no custom of
things to be taken, drank, or worn should be taken of any of the town dwellers. Among them the most
important community who came to settle were the Portuguese and their offspring known as mesticos.
They knew the Tamil language and all usual ways of expediting business in the region; they were ideal
foremen, as soldiers, as translators, as brokers, in fact as intermediaries for all the range of activities
which are useful in establishing and operating a fortified trading post in the midst of a strange
landscape.
The Portuguese that colonized Coromandel as early as in 1518 were not part of the administrative
system of Goa, though by the 1620s the resident fear of the Dutch and English made them closer ties
with the viceroyalty in the hope that it will be able to protect them. But the Estado da India watched
helplessly when the Dutch started capturing their own ships, which greatly affected their prosperity.
Even before the final annexation of Portuguese overseas empire,

Gender, Cultural, And Religious Context
Art is a product of its time. It is a result of the social, political, and religious context in which it was
made (Cruz). For the aforementioned reason, it is imperative to take into consideration the culture,
time period, and the gender of the artist because those individualities have a major influence on the
depiction of the women in art. For example, gender is a cultural classification, hence, various artists
might have portrayed the identity of the female in a different way. Moreover, gender roles are a set of
stringent behaviors and expectations set by the society based on the biological sex of a person. The art
works were predominantly created by male artists, thus women were represented based on what the

For example, Figure 1 depicts a sculpture entitled: Bhudevi. It was created during the Chola Period in
Southern India, specifically in Tamil Nadu in the late 11th early 12th centuries Bronze. In India,
Bhudevi is considered to be the Goddess of Mother Earth and one of the wives of the Hindu god
Vishnu. One conspicuous attribute is her body figure, which seems to be the epitome of female image
in India during that time period. She has a small nose and chin, fat deposition in the cheek area (round
face), fuller hips and large breasts, which are considered to be signs of fertility. As a matter of fact, she
is the Fertility form in which she is the Mother Earth ( About Bhudevi ). She has a ring on the pointer
finger of her left hand, which can be symbolized as the Earth that is rotating. Her graceful gestures,
such as having one of her hands faced down, depict the feminine nature of women, while having the
other one pointed diagonally to lead to her husband, Vishnu. This gesture implies that Vishnu is her
husband and that he holds a position of power. The way she is posed portrays her femininity because
she is positioned in a way so that her curves are enhanced. She is also depicted naked, which
according to some Hindus, the erotic nature portrays Kama one of their goals in human life.

Masculinity In Moonlight
Music plays in the background as a blue vintage car pulls into a driveway. The car stops, and so does
the music. The driver, a middle aged black man tosses a pack of cigarettes on the dashboard and steps
out of the car. This is the opening scene of Moonlight, written by Barry Jenkins and Tarrell Alvin
McCraney. Moonlight follows Chiron, an African American boy throughout three periods of his life,
portrayed by three different acts: Little, Chiron and Black. It is a film that influenced my perspective
on African American social life on multiple levels, specifically the presence of hyper masculinity, the
view on sexuality and the drugs in struggling communities. Moonlight is one of the few glimpses I ve
had of primarily black communities, and certainly the first glimpse of a gay African American boy
growing up in a black community I have seen in any form of mainstream media.
Prior to watching this movie, I didn t know much about many aspects of African American social life
in regards to sexuality, drugs and hyper masculinity. I thought that it was more or less similar to the
views on sexuality and hyper masculinity I have witnessed in my own life. The mainstream views on
masculinity and sexuality (specifically in boys) I have witnessed are primarily that being masculine is
a positive trait for boys, and that if one is not at least slightly masculine, they are either gay or joking.
In regards to the presence of drugs in struggling black communities, I only know of what I hear

Hanford Nuclear Reservation Research Paper
While doing research for an essay on Hanford Nuclear Reservation in Southern Washington I read that
the Department of Energy wants to ship 3 million gallons of liquid radioactive waste to the Waste
Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) in Carlsbad, New Mexico. The shortest route from Hanford to Carlsbad
cuts through Eastern Oregon. This worries me.
As you know, your agency grants Hazardous Material permits for $75, or $500 annually. We want to
be good neighbors and allow our friends to the north access to our highways. I perfectly understand
that. Looking through your recent Hazardous Material Reports there have been no accidents involving
spillage of nuclear materials in our state. We don t want to add unnecessary financial burden to our

There were 3,719 accidents involving semi trucks. What if one of those trucks carrying liquid
radioactive waste was involved in one of those accidents? What if the container ruptured? What if the
driver who is trained in what to do was incapacitated? In 2011 according to state agency statistics,
state police dispatchers told callers about 40 times a day it had no troopers to respond: to accidents,
dangerous driver reports, to crimes. Eastern Oregon has a lot of miles to cover. My best friend s dad is
a deputy in Morrow County and he alone is responsible for hundreds of miles of roads on his shifts. I
called a few counties in Eastern Oregon and the deputies all do go through annual training on what to
do in the event of a nuclear emergency, but what if they are unavailable? Or what if they are a few
hundred miles away and it takes them over an hour to get there? What happens then? The passersby s
first on the scene won t know the proper procedure for dealing with that radioactive waste. They might
not see the nuclear waste placard, or even know what it means. Is it safe for them to get close to the
truck and help the driver? Is it even safe for cars to drive on the highway around the accident? These
are questions I don t know the answer to. But I hope you know these answers before granting permits
for people to transport liquid nuclear waste though our state.
Is the peace of mind for our state worth $62.58?

The Tuskegee Syphilis Study was an unethical prospective study based on the differences between
white and black males that began in the 1930 s. This study involved the mistreatment of black males
and their families in an experimental study of the effects of untreated syphilis. With very little
knowledge of the study or the disease by participants, the Tuskegee Syphilis Study can be seen as one
of the worst forms of injustices in the United States history. Even though one could argue that the

In Macon County, Alabama, about 40% of African Americans had syphilis. Syphilis caused by a
spirochete bacterium that is contracted sexually. In the 1930 s it had relatively no cures or treatments.
Syphilis progresses into three stages, the last of which begins to attack the several organ systems of
the individual. The victim may become paralyzed, blind and/or deaf; develop heart problems or a
mental illness, or other symptoms (Gray 37 38). They decided that they wanted to compare and
contrast how blacks and whites develop the disease and the effects on each race. Years before the
study of the Negro was set to begin, a similar study for whites was conducted in Oslo, Norway. This
study was a retrospective look into the effects of untreated syphilis in whites. The retrospective study
used case histories of those who had syphilis when they died not living patients. The U.S. Public
Health Service decided to use African Americans in Macon County in the experiment. Originally titled

Since the dawn of time, religion has been the staple of humanity. It has been our explanation for the
unexplainable, as well a way for us to form a community with those around us. Due to the natural
diversity of humans, a varied set of separate religions has formed throughout the world. Religions
continue to adapt and inspire each other, however, they all have their differences, as well as internal
differences through the observations of each believer. The exterior of the New Brunswick Islamic
Center is incredibly misleading. The outside appears similar to a factory, yet, it s the inside that
suggests something holier. The inner appearance of the religious center is not very extravagant either,
yet, it has a respectful atmosphere to it. Everyone acknowledges each other with a warm greeting, and
everyone acts friendly. The building itself only was composed of a lobby and a musallah¸ or ritual
hall. The women sat separated from the men, and everyone was required to remove their shoes. The
age distribution was very spread out. Many young children accompanied their parents to prayer, while
many older worshippers came alone. In fact, the lowest subset age wise were college and high school
aged students. The dress of the worshippers was perhaps the most varied. Some were in traditional
garb, some were in basketball shorts and snapbacks, and some even fused traditional robes with
baseball caps. The service attended was Dhruhr, the midday prayer. The service begins with a sermon

American Mink Research Paper
My invasive species that I m investigating is the American mink it is invasive in England. The
American mink came from North America, and got brought to England in 1929 for fur farming.
The American mink s scientific name is Neovison vison and is a semiaquatic, carnivorous animal.
That belongs to the mustelid family. The American mink was brought to England for fur farming for
economic reasons, but some of the minks escaped into the wild and started breeding. It took them 30
years to establish after they escaped. When the otter s population dropped the minks started to grow in
numbers because the otters ate the minks. The mink s predators are birds of prey, owls, foxes, coyotes,

They eat the following but their favorite is the water vole. The water vole s in England are endangered
and is the most effected species in the 20th century because of the American mink. Now there are

The American mink brought light tick, fleas and diseases with them when it came to England. Which
affected cattle and sheep which was bad for farmers. The American mink is considered an invasive
species because they are feral animals and, because they kill native animals and spread diseases that
are fatal to the native animals.
To try stop the American mink they are going to use humane methods the best one so far is catching it
in a cage and then shooting it in the head. Gwent Wildlife Trust is doing its best to control the
American mink and many other people have been hunting and killing them. They are trying to stop the
American mink because it is killing the water voles which are endangered and could soon be extinct if

This is claimed to be the most likely phases of most serial killers. ( Serial Killers n.pag.) The aura
phase is when the killer leaves reality and all their senses are heightened. This could last from a
moment to years. The killer could possibly try to abuse alcohol and drugs. The trolling phase are they
ways how the killer finds, identifies, and stalks his victim. An example would be when Ted Bundy
would get hurt to call attention to himself and lure people to his car. In the Moonlight Murders the
Phantom s trolling phase would be when he posed as law enforcement to trick the people to get out of
their car. The wooing phase is when killers gain the confidence helps the killer lure the victim into his
trap. The capture phase is when the victim loses the chance to leave. This could include a door locking
or a killer knocking the victim unconscious. The Phantom s capture phase was his gun. The gun put
fear in the victims and paralyzed them. They knew if they ran that they would die. The murder phase
is when ritual reenactment. The killer is reenacting the bad experience of their childhood, but this time
the roles reverse. This must mean that Youell Swinney had a rough childhood where he was abused
and neglected. The totem phase is when the killer goes through deep depression after they kill. This is
why killers end up killing so much. They feel powerful when they kill so they want more and more so
they try to feed their hunger. This explains why Swinney would have to kill so many people because
his fantasies were not fulfilled. The depression phase is where the killer still sees the victim and the
person who hurt them in the past. The killer is not satisfied and their fantasies are not completed.

Examination of the Main Issues of the Euthanasia Debate
Introduction
Talk of suicide and euthanasia has long been the focus of media attention. Recently this debate has
been furthermore justified with the advent of European clinics that specialise in professional mercy
killings for the terminally ill and those suffering incurable pain.
To add to this, suicide rates in this country are ever increasing, with this being one of the ten most
common causes of death in the UK. More worrying is the increasingly high number of adolescent
youth and young men, who being particularly prone to depression, take their own lives.

One way in which we can all look into these issues is to imagine the situation happening within our
lives. How would you feel given the option of life or death? If life is intolerable and you see the
suffering on family and friends, what decision would you like to make? Should politicians, who have
no personal interest, be able to decide our fate?
The term euthanasia means the intentional killing by act or omission of a dependent human being for
his or her alleged benefit. (The key word here is intentional . If death is not intended, it is not an act of
euthanasia). Voluntary euthanasia is when the person who is killed has requested to be killed. Non
voluntary: When the person who is killed made no request and gave no consent. Involuntary
euthanasia: When the person who is killed made an expressed wish to the contrary. Assisted suicide:
Someone provides an individual with the information, guidance, and means to take his or her own life
with the intention that they will be used for this purpose. When it is a doctor who helps another person
to kill themselves it is called physician assisted suicide. Euthanasia By Action: Intentionally causing a
person s death by performing an action such as by giving a lethal injection. Euthanasia By Omission:
Intentionally causing death by not providing necessary and ordinary (usual and customary) care or
food and water.

Linguistic relativity and linguistic determinism are strong version and weak version of Sapir Whorf
hypothesis respectively. According to XX (), linguistic relativity is defined as the variation of
cognitive processes among languages due to cultural differences. The individuals see, experience and
interpret the world based on the structure of the language they habitually use. Such linguistic
categories and usage influence thought and certain kinds of non linguistic behavior, carve up and
name the world differently. Linguistic relativism acknowledges that conceptual paradigms of thought
can be changed, extended, broadened and reshaped with respect to the experience the individual has or
the exertion the individual makes.
On the other hand, linguistic determinism is the idea that language and its structures limit and
determine human though patterns and knowledge, as well as thought processes such as categorization,

Text Messaging and Persuasive Speech Outline
Persuasive Speech Outline on Texting while driving March 21st, 2013 I. Introduction A. The main
premise of my argument is that no one for whatever reason should be texting while driving. B:
Defining the issue: Distracted driving while texting 1. Texting and driving 2. Lack of concentration,
losing focus on driving 3. Looking at texts and not paying attention to the surroundings scenery C:
Standing on this issue? All drivers need to be aware of distracted driving and take steps to minimize
the risk to themselves and others. I m asking you today to listen to the statistics and the stories and
decide for yourself whether that one text message, is worth the cost of a human life. II. Supporting
Facts #1 A: While distracted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
C: Conclusion about this detail: It is very important to first acknowledge the dangerous impact of this
distraction s alarming statistics that shows about the safety of driving while texting. Many people don
t see and think about the consequences that can occur in this situation. More and more companies are
implementing new strategies, for instance, signing a pledge not to use the phone while on the road,
and these new changes are adding more responsible drivers. But it is still not enough to say that we
have gained control over the problem. V: Conclusion: Therefore according to the facts and statistics
that were shown previously, people that are still texting while driving might think that they can juggle
these big frames of steel they drive every day, with devices like their cell phones without paying the
price, are greatly mistaken! First off, no one can say that texting while driving is not one if not the
most dangerous action one can do behind a motorized vehicle. What can refute that problem that
seems all around us whether commuting or not. Consequently due to the nature of the cell phone use
while behind the wheel drivers should not have permission under any circumstance to text while
driving. Regardless of the stance every individual takes on this matter, people need to realize the
importance of this issue and implement the good driving behaviors. As

The Controversy Over The English Language Of The World
The English language began its climb to world dominance with the rise of the British Empire in the
16th century. During this time English began to spread as the worlds lingua franca for business and
trade. With the support of the United States, which at the time was one of the most successful nations
in history, english was able to overthrow all previous lingua francas. However, english should not be
considered as the gateway to the world . Although the english language is widely spoken around the
world, making english language the official language of the world will lead to diminishing cultural
diversity.
Intrinsic arguments describe the English language as providential, rich, noble and interesting. Such
arguments tend to assert what English is and what other languages are not . As mentioned previously,
notwithstanding that the english language is widely spoken around the world, diversity is important
and for many individuals language is the basis of their culture. Making english the global language is
essentially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These arguments describe english as advantageous and dominant, however they do not describe the
limitations of the english language. The truth is that English is an incredibly difficult language to learn
with its various grammar, punctuation and usage rules. I would assume that the majority of people
who agree that english should be the world s official tongue have never attempted to learn any other
languages.
Functional arguments emphasize the usefulness of English as a gateway to the world . I do agree that
english useful language in that it is an effective way to communicate thoughts and ideas, however I do
not agree that it is the gateway to the world . Instead I believe that english can potentially be a co
language in that it can be the language of world trade and

Gender Stereotypes In A Cool Kid-Like Me
Children books today are enforcing the many gender stereotypes and roles that are prevalent in
society. Lack of female characters in books is sending children a message at young ages that females
occupy a role beneath men in the society. This is then causing a possible contribution to our young
girls feeling unimportant, and the boys privileged. Boys are also choosing not to pick up books that
don t gender related to themselves or focused on things they like. Boy children are less likely to pick
up a bright pink book with a female character on the front, whereas to girls will read everything. In
The Detective Dog by Julia Donaldson the main character is a brave female detective dog named Nell,
who helps out a male sidekick and teacher. One ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is also portrayed with short blonde hair, pants and tops, and neutral darker colored clothing, such
as navy blues, khaki, and pastel yellow. The book goes on to further explain all the things a cool kid
should be doing, and highlight the independence of the boy, whose parents didn t pay him much
attention. On the fifth page of the text, the young boy is troubled by his parent s lack of interest and
how they only knew him on the outside and not who he was on the inside. This a clear indicator of
how parents tend to neglect male children because they don t want them to appear fragile or emotional
like the stereotypes tend to deem on girl children. The boy who tells this story is so cool to the point
that he doesn t like to be hugged, as most boy children do not, however he lets his Grandma. Only
when speaking to his Grandmother, who allows the boy to be fragile and cares for his feelings, does he
confess the truth that his coolness is only a facade hiding his fears of not having a night light.
Eventually, the grandmother goes on vacation, and in her absence gives the boy a teddy bear as a
present. The parents of the young boy automatically say the boy is too old for that! He s a big boy
now!... He won t play with that (Wilhelm, 1990, p. 9) and when his mother cleans his room, she puts
the teddy bear on the highest shelf. In spite of the parents, the young boy strips the bear of what had a
deemed feminine ribbon, removes the bear from the top shelf when the mother exits his room and
takes the bear everywhere and anywhere he could, in secret, and spoke to the bear about his deepest
and darkest fears and told him all he felt. The book identified with a familiar topic in class, in how boy
children are raised to be macho and manly and to always be tough and lack someone

Federalists vs. Anti-Federalists
Mark Sheen 529794668
POS 442 American Political Tradition
12 October, 2006
During the period between its proposal in September 1787 and ratification in 1789, the United States
Constitution was the subject of numerous debates. The contending groups consisted of Federalists,
those who supported ratification, and Anti Federalists, those opposed to the constitution. Each group
published a series of letters known as the Federalist and Anti Federalist Papers. The Anti Federalist
papers objected to provisions of the proposed constitution while the Federalist Papers defended the
rationale behind the document. Anti Federalist objections included that; the United States was too
extensive to be governed by a republic, the constitution ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In what is considered the first anti federalist paper, Brutus writes: In a republic, the manners,
sentiments, and interests of the people should be similar. If this be not the case, there will be a
constant clashing of opinions; and the representatives of one part will be continually striving against
those of the other. This will retard the operations of government, and prevent such conclusions as will
promote the public good. This clash of ideas, opinions and lifestyles, he argued, did not lend itself to
any overarching federal government. He continues: The United States includes a variety of climates.
The productions of the different parts of the union are very variant, and their interests, of consequence,
diverse. Their manners and habits differ as much as their climates and productions; and their
sentiments are by no means coincident. The laws and customs of the several states are, in many
respects, very diverse, and in some opposite; each would be in favor of its own interests and customs,
and, of consequence, a legislature, formed of representatives from the respective parts, would not only
be too numerous to act with any care or decision, but would be composed of such heterogenous and
discordant principles, as would constantly be contending with each other (Anti Federalist 1). The
Federal Farmer adds: Different laws, customs, and opinions exist in the different states, which by a
uniform system of laws would be

Love Poetry By Edna St. Vincent Millay
Courtly Love Poetry
Whenever modern poetry is mentioned, there is an overwhelming consensus that it involves an
onslaught of free verse with irregular structure Modern poetry was seen as not rhyming, even when it
did rhyme; as obscure and difficult, even when it was at its most lucid and limpid (Schmidt, 3). There
is also a stereotype that traditional forms of poetry that were popular in the past were abandoned.
However, when looking at examples of modern poetry, it becomes clear that this is not the case.
Whilst it is true that many modern poets have embraced the free verse form of poetry, others have
adopted classical poem forms. Tweaking them slightly so that can adapt to the modern world. Thus
reviving these forms and making them more fresh and relevant. American poet Edna St. Vincent
Millay can be seen to fit into this category. She is particularly well known for her sonnets. This essay
will analyse one of Millay s sonnets in to context of the evolution of courtly love poetry. The history
of the sonnet will also be examined to demonstrate how Millay has faithfully refashioned her poems.
However, whist Millay has kept the construction of sonnet pure she has differed in the message it
portrays. Hence this essay will also deconstruct Millay s poem and discuss how its tone differs from
traditional courtly love poetry.
According to Burt and Mikics (6) the origins of the sonnet can be traced back to France and the courts
of Sicily in the thirteenth century. It is

Police Enforcement Agency Of Bangladesh Essay
Introduction:
The Bangladesh Police is the main law enforcement agency of Bangladesh. It is administered under
the Ministry of Home Affairs of the Government of Bangladesh. It plays a crucial role in maintaining
peace, and enforcement of law and order within Bangladesh. Though the police are primarily
concerned with the maintenance of law and order and security of persons and property of individuals,
it also plays a big role in the criminal justice system.
After decades of misuse and neglect, Bangladesh police is a source of instability and fear rather than a
key component of a democratic society. A friend asks another friend How many people were there at
the tea shop? He replies, Oh, only a few, just a couple of gentle men and a cop. You must have heard
this joke or one of its many variations. The implied hint is clear. There are obvious reasons behind this
common perception. But like all generalizations, these do not portray the whole truth.
Abstract:
Police is one of the important law enforcing agencies to control the pace of crime and law and order
situation. Subordinate Police Officers are the key role players in this context. At present, crime is
increasing; the criminal justice system is cracking under heavy workload; society s expectations from
the police are high but the police s status and resources, working and living conditions leave a lot to be
desired. Moreover, the law enforcers are encountering some humanitarian issues and limited facilities.

Essay on The Ghost
Night in the country came like a cloak so that everything outside disappeared. No street lights and a
new moon, whose light couldn t penetrate the many trees, may have had something to do with that.
From any window, the only thing Nate saw when he looked outside was a thick blanket of black and
the occasional flare of a firefly. At nine p.m. he excused himself from his grandparents company as
they watched Secrets of the Dead in their sitting room. He had some dead people s secrets to uncover
himself. He went to the library and carried to his room the two boxes of books he and the twins had
started on earlier. He intended to look through them late into the night and make up for their lack of
progress. But soon his eyes were too droopy to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They landed on top of each other in a straight line about six feet in length. Shock and fear glued Nate
to the bed as the stacking continued until he had to look up to see the last rows. Some unseen force
now directed more books to leave their box and form a new line, connecting to the first row at a thirty
degree angle. The thumping noise softened as the stack rose higher into the air. Another pile of books
soon stretched over Nate s head. The new stack was only a fourth the length of the first row but just as
high. Eerily, Nate s bedroom door opened with the crack he had come to expect from the old
hardware. But never would he have imagined the line of books that floated through the door like they
were dangling from invisible strings. The set of encyclopedias he recognized from the library drifted
over to the first stack and began a third line, angled at thirty degree again so that it made an upside
down V with the other angled line. The new row also stopped at one fourth the length of the original
row. More books crowned the stack until it reached as high as the first two rows. Nate sat unmoving,
hardly breathing and hardly able to believe his eyes. But it seemed the last row of books put an end to
the construction. No more books floated through the door or from boxes. The room was quiet as Nate
eyed the partition of books piled two feet from him. He scooted across the bed to the opposite side and
cautiously tested the floor, afraid

James White Perpetuation
Perpetuation of Misinformation 52% of news reporters frequently publish fake news to lure readers
into their message (statistic portal). The problem with today s society and how news is interpreted is
that no one will go the extra step to make sure the news is valid, thus causing perpetuation of
misinformation. The recent incident that happened in a Philadelphia Starbucks caused much
controversy because many people believed the arrest of Rashon Nelson and Donte Robinson was
another act of prejudice towards African Americans. On the other hand, many believe the two men
were violating the stores conduct, because they did not buy anything while waiting in the store for a
meeting. In the Times Herald issue Leodora: Country s racial Divide ... Show more content on

sides of the story, and they are trying to appeal to the nation as a whole. The Times Herald itself,

differentiates between two solutions she illustrates For security reasons, many public restrooms in city
locations are locked...these are real issues, but they should never escalate to the point we have
witnessed with this Starbucks story. (Leodora) The article demonstrates no bias, because it
continuously supports both sides. Continuously Leodora claims, This is a result of the incredible racial
divide that has developed in this country. (Leodora) With a neutral party article the reader is drawn in
by the correlations made, thus influencing them to believe this incident was no ones fault. There is a
negative effect on society, because looking at both sides expresses the distraught racial divide,
strengthening the emotional appeal on the audience. This article is highly effective since it represents
both sides of the story, that utilizes loaded language to favor both conservative causes. The critical

Review Of Sean Covey s Seven Habits Of Highly Effective Teens
Do you remember struggling in school? In your relationships with others? With yourself? Do you
remember how hard it was to be a teenager? If only there was some sort of instruction manual or
guide. Well, Sean Covey attempted to write one such book, drawing information from his father s
book and directing it towards the teenager. The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens offers great
advice for teenagers wanting to have more peace and control over their lives.
One of the most helpful advice Sean gives is to focus on your Personal Bank Account (PBA). This
idea coincides with the sharpen the saw habit, even though Sean introduces the PBA at the beginning
of the book rather than with the seventh habit. It s important that the information of a PBA is at the
beginning because we must first win the private victory. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He called it the Relationship Bank Account (RBA). Some of the things Sean suggests to making
deposits into your RBA is keeping promises, doing small acts of kindness, being loyal, listening, and
setting clear expectations. It s important to note that many of these things are also on the PBA list.
Building others also builds yourself. Sean gave the example of the two seas in Palestine. It s an
excerpt from Bruce Barton s The Man Nobody Knows. This excerpt describes how full of life and joy
the Sea of Galilee is compared to the poisoned Dead Sea. Both of these seas are fed by the River
Jordan, but the Sea of Galilee is also as an outlet; it gives whereas the Dead sea only receives. Barton
compares this to people and how giving will benefit others as well as yourself, yet there is no reward
for being selfish. I always try to give as much as I can. I love Mother Teresa s quote, Let no one ever
come to you without leaving better and happier. It inspired me to take Sean s advice about RBA more
seriously and do everything I could to be a light in other people s

  • 2. The Lachman Test The Lachman Test is an important diagnostic test for detection of Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) pathology (van Eck, 2013) and is frequently used by sports therapists. Joint arthrometry, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and diagnostic arthroscopy are all well established methods to evaluate the knee for the presence of an ACL tear. However, the clinical gold standard, with well established levels of accuracy for detecting this injury, is the Lachman test, which is performed with the patient in a supine position and the knee at 20° to 30° of flexion (Benjaminse, 2006; Ostrowski, 2006). The grading of the Lachman test is based on the amount of anterior translatory movement (translation) of the tibia relative to the femur and on the end feel perceived by the examiner. A positive test requires a soft end feel and observable translation of the tibia (Torg, 1976). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The patient s knee joint position during the Lachman s test might affect the grade given. Because examiners do not agree on the position of the knee joint during the Lachman s test, reliability might be affected if they do not place the knee in the same position each time they administer the test (Donaldson 1985 ). Similarly, grading might be affected as experience of therapists differs from each other. Hence, judgments based on the Lachman s test are inconsistent when made by inexperienced testers, but such judgments become more reliable as testers become more experienced (Dehaven, 1980; Noyes, ... Astrophel and Stella is said to have most likely been composed in the 1580s. It is considered an English sonnet sequence that overall contains 108 sonnets and 11 songs in total. The name Astrophel comes from Greek origin translating to star lover, ad Stella is originated from Latin which means star as well. In other words Astrophel is the star lover, and Stella is his star. Some people even say Sidney wrote this about his own personal love life first about Lady Penelope Devereux, and later on Lady Rich. In Sonnet 87 Sidney express his love for Stella. • 4. Examples Of Richard Nixon Inaugural Speech World Unity Creates a World of Peace Every president has a specific vision on how to influence America with their policies. Being the only president to resign from the presidency makes one wonder what did Nixon want to accomplish as president. During, every president s first term, they have to figure out how to navigate the office. The inaugural speech, usually, gives the American people an idea of what the president plans to do, for America. As president, Nixon accomplished many things and strived to fulfil the promises in his inaugural speech. The greatest honor history can bestow is the title of peacemaker a quote from Richard Nixon s inaugural address. Peace and unity were the main points of the speech. Nixon focused on creating international peace, with all nations, as well as peace within America. Nixon felt that unity was the only way for people to live on Earth. Not only was peace a huge factor in Nixon s speech, benefits for American citizens was important to him, as well. Although, Nixon never stated how he planned to accomplish things, he did clearly state that he wanted to improve healthcare, education and attain better housing. Overall, this speech was a beacon of hope for the American people to look forward to. Nixon was one of the few presidents who have had a second term. Therefore, Nixon had more than one inaugural speech. Nixon s second speech was very similar to the first speech. Instead, of focusing on how to be at peace, Nixon assured, the country, that everything was serene and we needed to maintain it. A person can be expected to act responsibly only if he has responsibility , a quote from Nixon s second speech. Almost, an ironic statement when Nixon, initially, avoid responsibility for his crimes. With that being said, Nixon informed Americans that they should be more responsible for themselves and depend less on the government. More personal responsibility would better America, in Nixon s eyes. Similarly, to the first speech, Nixon does not state any plans, but this speech was less inspiring. Unlike, the first speech, this second speech seemed to be a call to action for the American people. Obviously, the first and the thirty seventh president had very different priorities ... Why is Coca Cola so interested in Africa, which is typically regarded as part of the base of the global economic pyramid? Coca Cola is an organization that has been around since 1892. Coca Cola is looking for new emerging growth markets and Africa has proven to be that. Combined, 12 of the African countries have a GDP greater than that of Chine. Coca Cola has 29% of the market share in Africa. 2. What unique resources and capabilities does Coca Cola have that will help it compete well in Africa? Coca Cola has the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sales in the United States are declining due to the public concern over sugar. Sales in Europe and Japan are flat, while markets in China and India offer up strong completion for Coca Cola. Africa s middle class population is growing at a steady rate, so the disposable income is increasing. This creates an opportunity for Coca Cola to tap into growth opportunities (Natalia Cheverri 2012). How does it work? Although there are areas in Africa lacking infrastructure, Coca Cola operates in every country. Coca Cola utilized a franchising manufacturing model that works perfectly for operating in Africa. Coca Cola partnered with local licensed bottling groups to help create the product. Coca Cola manufactures the syrup concentrate and sells to the bottlers. The bottlers add filtered water, carbonation, and sweetener to make the final product. With this model, Coca Cola is sharing the wealth with local investors/community members. This creates sustainable business and improves community buy in with Coca Cola s existence in Africa (Maritz Jaco 2010). Because partnerships are formed with local bottlers and local members of the community, there is a vested interest by the locals to keep Coca Cola s business successful. Through these partnerships, Coca Cola is able to help build the socio economic system in different towns.

The English East India Company The Portuguese Working Under the English East India Company at Fort St. George Madras in the Seventeenth Century The success for the English East India Company making inroads in the Coromandel was due to the Anglo Portuguese Truce (1630), which made possible for the foundation of an English settlement in 1640 at Madraspatnam. With the establishment of Fort St. George in 1640, slowly the migrants begin to settle down with the promise of no tax for thirty years, the term of thirty years only no custom of things to be taken, drank, or worn should be taken of any of the town dwellers. Among them the most important community who came to settle were the Portuguese and their offspring known as mesticos. They knew the Tamil language and all usual ways of expediting business in the region; they were ideal foremen, as soldiers, as translators, as brokers, in fact as intermediaries for all the range of activities which are useful in establishing and operating a fortified trading post in the midst of a strange landscape. The Portuguese that colonized Coromandel as early as in 1518 were not part of the administrative system of Goa, though by the 1620s the resident fear of the Dutch and English made them closer ties with the viceroyalty in the hope that it will be able to protect them. The driver, a middle aged black man tosses a pack of cigarettes on the dashboard and steps out of the car. This is the opening scene of Moonlight, written by Barry Jenkins and Tarrell Alvin McCraney. Moonlight follows Chiron, an African American boy throughout three periods of his life, portrayed by three different acts: Little, Chiron and Black. It is a film that influenced my perspective on African American social life on multiple levels, specifically the presence of hyper masculinity, the view on sexuality and the drugs in struggling communities. Moonlight is one of the few glimpses I ve had of primarily black communities, and certainly the first glimpse of a gay African American boy growing up in a black community I have seen in any form of mainstream media. Prior to watching this movie, I didn t know much about many aspects of African American social life in regards to sexuality, drugs and hyper masculinity. I thought that it was more or less similar to the views on sexuality and hyper masculinity I have witnessed in my own life. The mainstream views on masculinity and sexuality (specifically in boys) I have witnessed are primarily that being masculine is a positive trait for boys, and that if one is not at least slightly masculine, they are either gay or joking. According to XX (), linguistic relativity is defined as the variation of cognitive processes among languages due to cultural differences. The individuals see, experience and interpret the world based on the structure of the language they habitually use. Such linguistic categories and usage influence thought and certain kinds of non linguistic behavior, carve up and name the world differently. Linguistic relativism acknowledges that conceptual paradigms of thought can be changed, extended, broadened and reshaped with respect to the experience the individual has or the exertion the individual makes. On the other hand, linguistic determinism is the idea that language and its structures limit and determine human though patterns and knowledge, as well as thought processes such as categorization, memory, and perception, assuming that language both reflects and limits human mentality and its ability to make cross cultural connections such as bilingualism and translation. ... During this time English began to spread as the worlds lingua franca for business and trade. With the support of the United States, which at the time was one of the most successful nations in history, english was able to overthrow all previous lingua francas. Lack of female characters in books is sending children a message at young ages that females occupy a role beneath men in the society. Boys are also choosing not to pick up books that don t gender related to themselves or focused on things they like. On the fifth page of the text, the young boy is troubled by his parent s lack of interest and how they only knew him on the outside and not who he was on the inside. The contending groups consisted of Federalists, those who supported ratification, and Anti Federalists, those opposed to the constitution. Each group published a series of letters known as the Federalist and Anti Federalist Papers. This will retard the operations of government, and prevent such conclusions as will promote the public good. This clash of ideas, opinions and lifestyles, he argued, did not lend itself to any overarching federal government. He continues: The United States includes a variety of climates. The productions of the different parts of the union are very variant, and their interests, of consequence, diverse. Their manners and habits differ as much as their climates and productions; and their sentiments are by no means coincident. The laws and customs of the several states are, in many respects, very diverse, and in some opposite; each would be in favor of its own interests and customs, and, of consequence, a legislature, formed of representatives from the respective parts, would not only be too numerous to act with any care or decision, but would be composed of such heterogenous and discordant principles, as would constantly be contending with each other (Anti Federalist 1). • 28. Love Poetry By Edna St. Vincent Millay Courtly Love Poetry Whenever modern poetry is mentioned, there is an overwhelming consensus that it involves an onslaught of free verse with irregular structure Modern poetry was seen as not rhyming, even when it did rhyme; as obscure and difficult, even when it was at its most lucid and limpid (Schmidt, 3). There is also a stereotype that traditional forms of poetry that were popular in the past were abandoned. However, when looking at examples of modern poetry, it becomes clear that this is not the case. Whilst it is true that many modern poets have embraced the free verse form of poetry, others have adopted classical poem forms. Tweaking them slightly so that can adapt to the modern world. Thus reviving these forms and making them more fresh and relevant. American poet Edna St. Vincent Millay can be seen to fit into this category. She is particularly well known for her sonnets. This essay will analyse one of Millay s sonnets in to context of the evolution of courtly love poetry. The history of the sonnet will also be examined to demonstrate how Millay has faithfully refashioned her poems. However, whist Millay has kept the construction of sonnet pure she has differed in the message it portrays. Hence this essay will also deconstruct Millay s poem and discuss how its tone differs from traditional courtly love poetry. According to Burt and Mikics (6) the origins of the sonnet can be traced back to France and the courts of Sicily in the thirteenth century. It is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The thumping noise softened as the stack rose higher into the air. Another pile of books soon stretched over Nate s head. The new stack was only a fourth the length of the first row but just as high. Eerily, Nate s bedroom door opened with the crack he had come to expect from the old hardware. But never would he have imagined the line of books that floated through the door like they were dangling from invisible strings. The set of encyclopedias he recognized from the library drifted over to the first stack and began a third line, angled at thirty degree again so that it made an upside down V with the other angled line. The new row also stopped at one fourth the length of the original row. More books crowned the stack until it reached as high as the first two rows. Nate sat unmoving, hardly breathing and hardly able to believe his eyes. But it seemed the last row of books put an end to the construction. No more books floated through the door or from boxes.
