Satterlee (2009) tells us of how globalization is a huge topic as it relates to integrating economics
and society across the world. There are so many ways that globalization can benefits such as
driving a connection between many notions that will all companies to start up a business in a

and at different rates, and that all areas of learning and development are equally important and

economic well being. The aim of the EYFS is to help young children achieve the five Every
Child Matters outcomes of staying safe, being healthy, enjoying and achieving, making a positive
contribution, and achieving economic well being by: 1. Setting the standards for the learning,
development and care, ensuring that every child makes progress and that no child gets left
behind. Parents, providers should deliver individualised learning, development and care that
enhances the development of the children in their care and gives those children the best possible
start in life. Every child should be supported individually to make progress at their own pace and
children who need extra support to fulfil their potential should receive special consideration. All
providers have an equally important role to play in children s early years experiences and they
have to ensure that the provision they deliver is both appropriate to children needs and
complementary to the education and care provided in child s other settings. 2. Providing for

Septic Pumping Research Paper
Many homes have a septic system, which is designed to treat waste from household water. If
your septic system receives the proper maintenance, then it will be able to provide you with
service for the years to come. Regular septic pumping is one of the things that will keep your
septic system functioning properly. Keep in mind that septic pumping is something that should be
only performed by a Diamond Springs septic company. A Diamond Springs septic company will
use a septic pump truck. There are several signs that you may notice if Diamond Springs septic
pumping is necessary. Pooling water is one of the signs that a septic pump truck is needed. If the
water is pooling, then this is a sign that the tank is full. The water will remain underground

Art Quiz 1 Essay
Arts Appreciation 1301
Chapter 1 Quiz
1. Chapter One opens by describing the work of artist Cai Guo Qiang. Gunpowder is an unusual
material to draw with and the sky is an unusual surface to draw on! What reasons does the artist
give for using gunpowder as his drawing material?
Cai Guo Qiang wished to create beauty from something like gunpowder, which is originally
considered a force of destruction.
2. On page 3, the author (Sayre p.3) states: Appreciating art is never just a question of accepting
visual stimuli, but also involves intelligently contemplating why and how works of art come to be
made and have meaning. What questions does the author suggest that you ask when viewing and
considering a work of art?

Chapter One selects works of art from a wide variety of cultures and times. What might you not
notice about Fig. 1 8, if you did not know that the Mugal ruler Akbar believed that a synthesis of
the world s faiths would surpass the teachings of any of them.
If I didn t know that the Mugal ruler Akbar believed that a synthesis of the world s faiths would
surpass the teaching of any of them I wouldn t have noticed that in the painting Jahangir in Dabar
there is a variety of faces with different racial and ethnic features.
8. Artist Claude Monet In Fig.1 9, painted the changes that were occurring in Europe during the
Industrial Revolution. Many left their agrarian lives for jobs in the city. Monet captures an
ambiguity in his painting about the changing world. What might you paint to describe our changing
world?
I would attempt to capture how far and how fast our technology is changing and growing, and
maybe below I would try to combine it with the simplicity of people s lifestyles before all this
technology took over.
9. Would you like a coffin designed by Kane Kwei? If yes, what form might it take?
Yes, I might consider it. And if I do, I would like a coffin in shape of a tree with paintings of
flowers and birds all around it. 10. After viewing the works of architect Renzo Piano, what are his
intentions with the design of the Cultural Center in New Caledonia?

Amish Cultural Beliefs
Amish Cultural and Religious Beliefs Impacting Health Care Trends
Walking into an Amish community is like taking a trip through time. They are a religious group
that has upheld the standards of a life far removed from the modern world. The Amish come from
descendants from German speaking nations in and around Europe (Henderson, 2010). As such,
church hymns and other important documents are written in a type of Germanic language, known
sometimes as Pennsylvania Dutch. German and Pennsylvania Dutch are still common methods for
formal communication within the Amish community, although most of its members speak English
in informal situations. The community also upholds social roles that many would find outdated.
Women are restricted to the household, and thus their roles are severely limited compared to
women in modern communities. It is the men that have more freedom within the community. Also,
many within the Amish community tend to take the view point that everything happens for a
reason. This then impacts their overall view of individual health and tragedies. When an individual
gets sick or dies, many within the community believe it was God s will, and so often not much is
done to prevent God s will from manifesting (Henderson, 2010). Thus, it is clear that their cultural
and religious beliefs impact their overall health.
The Amish extreme views and beliefs often keep them separate from the rest of society, which can
have an impact on their overall health and how they

The Quiet American Compare And Contrast
When individuals are faced to have to morally attempt to solve their differences, they have to
make a choice to respond negatively or positively, because that is the only way to grow as a
human being. Graham Greene, who writes The Quiet American, uses two characters Thomas
Fowler and Alden Pyle to show how when given a situation, they will each respond differently
because they are completely the opposite of each other. It is even harder to do when it is about a
female that they both like. Pyle is an American compared to Folwer being a British man, which
means they will never see eye to eye. Thomas Fowler is a reporter from England. All he wants to
do is report, smoke opium and lay with Phuong, his Vietnamese lover. This girl, Phuong... Show

He lacks knowledge of Vietnam and it shows when he says, Was that a grenade? he asked with
excitement and hope. (Part 1, Chapter 1. Paragraph 78). All we know about Pyle is what Fowler
tells us. Pyle comes to Vietnam as a man trying to fight an unbeatable war, but ends up fighting
another battle that eventually ends up costing him his life. From the first time he ever laid eyes
on Phuong, he instantly fell in love: but unfortunately she already had a man. That didn t stop
him from trying and he kept trying until he got what he wanted, even though it took a long time.
The one advantage he had over Fowler is that Phuong s sister preferred Pyle. The way he goes
among this is very proper because he tells Fowler his intentions from the get go and that does not
go over very well, for the reason Fowler doesn t want anyone else to have her. Pyle gets her and
is going to marry her, but before he can he is murdered, which eventually lets Fowler get Phuong
back. Pyle took this positively and was never down about Phuong and that is why he worked so
hard to get her because he know that she was worth than just a girl to sleep

Transformational Leadership Is Developing And Transforming...
As discussed in the text, transformational leadership is characteristic of a leader that helps bring
about major, positive changes by moving group members beyond their self interests and toward the
good of the group, organization, or society. The essence of transformational leadership is
developing and transforming people (Dubrin) . A perfect portrayal of this leadershipstyle is Walt
Disney. Walt Disney transformed the hearts and minds by setting forth a visionary reality. Walt
knew that by taking his visionary strengths and working with his brother to complement each other
s strengths that they would be able to foster a group of followers and visionary leaders working
with them. Walt led with four key tenants: Chase your dream, believe... Show more content on

The second characteristic is enthusiasm. Walt motivated his employees and encouraged them to
inspire achievement. An enthusiastic leader keeps the employees engaged and more likely to keep
them of a positive mindset.
The third characteristic is confidence. Disney is famous for his quote It takes people to make the
dream a reality . Disney was confident in his ideals and his vision, and he was confident in the
people he had working with him to make it happen. He worked hard to instill that confidence in
those people around him. It takes true confidence in oneself to feel connected to and truly engaged
because not only do you know that those around you believe in you, but most importantly that you
believe in you. When a leader is confident those that work under that leader are more likely to
perform better because they are assured of a confident future.
The fourth characteristic is courage. Disney historian Craig Hodgkins said of Walt that he was
completely focused on his product and his goals, not on himself (ISU). By being able to do this,
the leader s energy is honed into the mission and not reflective of how one looks or appears and
exclusively about the brand.
The fifth characteristic is persistence. The things that are worthwhile are hard work. Walt
understood this and was persistent to the end. He set out to finish what he started. This is an
extremely important

Federalism Is A System Of Government
Nothing is more certain than the indispensable necessity of government, and it is equally
undeniable, that whenever and however it is instituted, the people must cede to it some of their
natural rights in order to vest it with requisite powers. (Federalist No.2). According to
dictionary, com, it defines the word federalism as a political concept describing the practice
whereby a group of members are bound by agreement or covenant. The word federalism comes
from the Latin word foedus, which means covenant. Federalism refers to a system of government
in which sovereignty is constitutionally shared between a central governing authority and
constituent political units. Federalism is a system based upon democratic rules and institutions
in which the power to govern is shared between national and provincial/state governments. The
term federalist describes several political beliefs around the world depending on context. When
the colonies were first coming along, the people in the colonies were coming up with rules for
their colony, but as the country developed, it was agreed that the country as a whole should have
a set rules that should be followed by all of the colonies. Federalism was considered political
compromise for the problems with the Articles of Confederation being not in favor of both liberals
and conservatives. The Articles, specifically Article 1 section 8, made it possible for the
continental congress the power to sign treaties and declare war. The article

A Catalyst For Evil In Lord Of The Flies
A Catalyst for Evil in Lord of the Flies Over time, people can grow twisted and evil through their
experiences. Evil is knowing you are doing wrong or wanting to do something wrongful. In Lord
of the Flies, the characters convey Philip Zimbardo s theory of anonymity, conformity, and
boredom by demonstrating how those three theories can be a catalyst for evil. Philip Zimbardo is
a psychologist who once was the president of American Psychological Association. Anonymity is
the first catalyst for evil in Philip Zimbardo s theory that is demonstrated by the school boys in
Lord of the Flies. These facts can be found in Lord of the Flies and Finding Hope in Knowing the
Universal Capacity for Evil. When people act anonymously, it allows them to behave differently
than they would normally, because no one knows their true identity. Zimbardo says, When someone
is anonymous, it opens... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The kids in Lord of the Flies and the police force in Finding Hope in Knowing the Universal
Capacity for Evil both provide evidence of the evil of boredom. Evil began with Jack being
bored with just hunting and keeping the fire going, so he tried to change things up. When he
did, he caused issues such as Piggy s death. Right after the death he screamed at Ralph I m Chief
he also said There isn t a tribe for you anymore! The conch is gone (Golding 181). Jack meaning
behind this is there is no order left. In the Finding Hope in Knowing the Universal Capacity for
Evil the University of Stanford did a risky experiment that Philip described. Zimbardo says,
Boredom is a powerful motive for evil (Dreifus). He even went on to describe some of the evil
acts the guards did to the prisoners: starving them, not allowing them to sleep, dragging their
naked bodies in the yard, and more. The biggest thing is that the prisoners were heavily beaten
(Dreifus). Beating people is an evil thing, so in conclusion, boredom can grow to be an evil

Riding the Red
I ve told her and I ve told her: daughter, you have to teach that child the facts of life before it s too
late (Hopkinson 1). These are the first three lines of Nalo Hopkinson s short story Riding the Red
, a modern adaptation of Charles Perrault s Little Red Riding Hood . In his fairy talePerrault
prevents girls from men s nature. In Hopkinson s adaptation, the goal remains the same: through the
grandmother biographic narration, the author elaborates a slightly revisited plot without altering
the moral: young girls should beware of men; especially when they seem innocent. This modern
fairy tale contains diverse characters but none of them are as important as the grandmother. In fact,
through her narration the reader gets the basic... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Hopkinson s story, experience is central as it leads to potential complications the grandmother
tries to avoid for her granddaughter by telling her personal story. The mother opposes her
mother s urges for protection and tells her it is not necessary to frighten her daughter because
girlie s too young yet, there s plenty of time. (2). The mother sees her mother s personal story as
a ghastly old wi[fe s] tale[s]. (1 2) therefore there is no rush to inform her child on dangers, but
also because she believes her girl is too young. This opposition between both characters links to a
broader opposition between two different ways to report events: on the one hand this story could
be based on realistic facts when on the other hand it contains allegories and a moral which are
features of fairy tales. This text mixes both types which revels Hopkinson s style, designated by
herself in a 1999 interview with Gregory E. Rutledge, as speculative fiction and defined by Jewelle
Gomez in her article Speculative Fiction and Black Lesbians : I conflate the terms science fiction
and fantasy fiction under this rubric [Speculative Fiction] because each in its own way addresses
human concern with the future, with magic, and with the preternatural. (949). The story borrows its

Stereotypes By Naomi Wolf
Ever since the past, there had always been gender stereotypes. For an example, during the wars
in America, men who always the one who fought and women would do the clerical and nursing
jobs. But it was also women who filled in the jobs when men were at war. Women are always
judged and taught to look a certain way when they are more than just that. In Naomi Wolf s
essay, she quotes The contemporary ravages of the beauty backlash are destroying women
physically and depleting us psychologically. If we are to free ourselves from the dead weight that
has been made of our femaleness. it is not ballots or lobbyist or placards that women will need first;
it is a new way to see. I agree with her up to a certain point. I believe we need a new way... Show

It is about gender equality and that women should have the same rights and opportunities as
men. Emma Watson s speech mentioned the different gender stereotypes. For an example, there
is the stereotype that men have to be aggressive and strong and that women are weak. Who set
this standard? Men are just as unequal as women are but everyone deserves to be equal. Both
men and women should feel free to be sensitive... strong... Gender is something that is innate and
is out of our control, so why are we judged by something we can t change. Part of seeing in a new
way is to accept people for the way they are. Everyone should go by the saying they learned in
elementary school Treat others the way you want to be treated . We wouldn t want to be put down

Communication Management For Securing The Olympic...
1) The 2024 Summer Olympics are less than 22 months away... Please research one of the below
campaign host cities and use examples of Communication Management for securing the Olympic
Committee voter bid.
For the Summer Olympic games in 2024 I choose Los Angeles as the host city because it hosted
the 1932 games. Another reason I picked Los Angeles was because they are the most diverse city
in America but they are also the Western capital of the US, The Northern Capital of Latin America,
and Eastern capital of the Pacific Rim.
With that there are three main examples of communication management to help LA secure its vote
in the Olympic bid.
1)Communication Process Los Angeles released a video calling it LA24 and it shows why LA
should be chosen to hold the 2024 Olympics by having facts about LA come up throughout the
video while watching someone run or swim or bike.
2)Sport Organizational Image LA has hosted the Olympic games in 1932 so they aren t new to this
huge sporting event. The target audience in the LA24 is focused on all ages and races. I think they
wanted to show that LA welcomes everyone of every race, language, ect.

Essay about On Delacroix and Courbet
On Delacroix and Courbet The period surrounding 1781 to 1855 in France s history is united by
social and political change, an evolution of ideological struggles towards the best possible political
struggle amongst anchoring human faults. The life of the artist too underwent change and
struggled with the hierarchy that existed to validate artistic triumph. Changes are apparent amongst
a broad spectrum, including David, Ingres, history paintings and caricatures. Artists that
demonstratively epitomize the shifts, overwhelmingly united by a shift from acceptance to
defiance, are Eugene Delacroix (1789 1863) and Gustave Courbet (1819 1877). Artistic and cultural
differences that developed are transparent through understanding... Show more content on

The Salon and its competitions dictated the motives of the artist. Delacroix s first winning painting
was Dante and Virgil in Hell (1822). This painting was indeed a success: the French believed
themselves to be a modern embodiment of the Classics, and Dante and Virgil reinforced this well
enough. The painting is deemed a revolution in itself. The colors blend together so much that the
painting is better understood from farther away than up close. Fans triumphed it s subject matter:
...romanticism will not consist in a perfect execution, but in a conception analogous to the ethical
disposition of the age. This painting, after the Divine Comedy, also embeds Delacroix in the literary
movement. This movement was vital to the overall organization of history painting, as a sharp
literary vocabulary of the painter was admired if not necessary. Delacroix has a fondness for
Dante and Shakespeare, two other great painters of human anguish. Delacroix concerned himself
with grand, tortured ideas. This literary fascination of Shakespeare, Bryon, Sir Walter Scott, etc.
can be seen as a departure from the classics into modernity even though it served as good
grounding for him. The way of Delacroix is a distinct, unique flair.
Although Delacroix was the youngest artist with works in the Louvre, his antagonistic paintings
would begin to receive more demanding criticism. Gros described one of his works as the
massacre of the painting. He depicted many scenes on

Jazz Music
The Beginning
The word jazz did not become commonplace until around 1920 even though it had spent the
preceding decade establishing itself as a musical genre. A mix of European harmony and African
rhythm, blended with the current styles of the time such as ragtime and rhythm and blues, Jazz can
be seen as an amalgamation of different cultures and has had huge influences on, and evolved
concurrently with, American society in the past century. The birthplace of jazz is the subject of
much more controversy than its undoubted influence on society. The most commonly reported
and, in my view, logical birthplace of jazz is New Orleans. Being a port city (with people migrating
from all over the world), it was a melting pot of diverse racial ... Show more content on

The Great Depression that followed was the worst crisis in America since the Civil War. As the
1930s began, one out of every four wage earners more than 15 million men and women was
without work. (Burns, online). Burns goes on to observe that hard times hit black America
hardest. In some northern cities, six out of 10 African American workers lost their jobs. Like
many industries in The Great Depression, the music industry struggled for survival. American
record companies, which were selling more than 100 million records a year throughout the
twenties, had now dropped to just six million. (Burns, online). With this struggle and misery ever
so present, people began to look to music as an emotional escape. Musicians needed to play it
and the rest of society needed to hear it. The Depression meant that millions of people all over
America would now be exposed to the sounds of all kinds of music played by all kinds of people
for free. As Burns explains, jazz, which had always thrived in adversity and come to symbolize a
certain kind of American freedom, would be called upon to lift the spirits and raise the morale of a
frightened country. And in the process, it would begin to break down the barriers that had separated
Americans from each other for centuries.
In the mid 1930s, as the Great Depression stubbornly refused to lift, jazz came as close as it has
ever come to being America s popular music. (Burns, online). Now labeled Swing it was a shining

The Value Of Filial Piety
Culture: I applied symbolic interactionism. As one of the oldest countries in the world, China dates
back to ten thousand years. With more than five thousand years of traditional culture, China has a
formal set of values, beliefs, customs, language, etc., which have been passed generations.
Confucianism is the most influential philosophy guiding Chinese people living in different
centuries. The Confucian based values including harmony, filial piety, and obligation help shape my
personality. The value of harmony: Confucianism emphasizes the importance of building
harmonious relationships with others to make the society stable (Kaplan). It means that in every
relationship, people should show benevolence, righteousness, loyalty, and humility. These values
profoundly influence Chinese people including my family members. Husband and wife, parents
and children, and friend and friend only maintain a harmonious relationship, they could make a
stable society. The value of filial piety: Chinese society is characterized by patriarchy and
hierarchy. Elders make the most decisions. Confucianism advocates people to show respect and
compliance for elders. Most of the Chinese people treat filial piety as the most important traditional
value. It requires the younger generation to follow the elders words without a doubt. If a kid
disputes with his/her parents, he/she shows unrespect for the parents. The value of obligation: Each

The authors begin by examining colonial records which are a type of primary source that is very
credible, in the sense, it is likely a government recorded document at that time which would have
information regarding the transition from mainland Nova Scotia to what is now Louisbourg .
This source, in general, is a good one but doesn t completely back up the thesis of this article.
The second primary source that is used by Jonah and Tait is an archaeological investigation of
Acadian agricultural households. This is an incredible source that they picked because this
source allows us to understand what the structure of these people s homes would be like in the
18th century. I m not sure exactly where the writers get this information for this next source, but
I do believe it is a secondary source worth mentioning. Two historians named Maurice Basque
and Josette Brun has gathered examples of Acadian women who have stepped out in wanting to

research into their topics and often get their work published in books. The last primary source
which I find very interesting and the most credible out of this article would be the estate

Comparing The Things They Carried And Sorrow By Tim O
The poem Sorrow by Martin Dejnicki shares many similar themes with The Things They Carried
by Tim O brien. Both works of writing display war as a painful and and traumatizing experience.
However, this poem reflects the message in The Things They Carried chapter, Sweetheart of the
Song Tra Bong most accurately. Both the chapter and the poem share the theme that war can take
away a person s humanity. In the lines, We ve dug a hole, called a trench, Humanity is gone,
replaced with stench (Dejnicki) the author is trying to convey that a soldier in war can have their
humanity striped away and uses the symbolism of stench to describe the foul persona that may
replace it. In Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong, Tim O brien writes [Mary Anne] had crossed to the

She was ready for the kill (O brien 184). This quote reflects a similar message to the poem; Mary
Anne was once a beautiful innocent girl, yet being in the war had stiped her humanity and
replaced it with a stench that made her savage like. Another quote from Sorrow, Pain around us is
draining but real, craving silence, and a good meal. can be compared to the part in Sweetheart of
the Song Tra Bong where Mary Anne s pain of being stuck between her life at home and her new
life in the jungle of Vietnam has began to drain her and she starts to wander at all hours of the day
and night to find solitude and silence in the jungle. When I m out at night, I feel close to my
own body, I can feel my blood moving, my skin and fingernails, everything, it s like I m full of
electricity and I m glowing in the dark I m on fire almost I m burning away into nothing (O brien

the part I m on fire almost I m burning away into nothing is a symbol of the complex feelings she
gets when she s out there, that will someday consume her until she is not herself anymore. Her pain

Stereotypes In Uglies By Scott Westerfeld
The image of a person is often something that gets judged very quickly in society. People often see
others and instantly think of something about that person. Men, women and children are all
outcast for many different reasons. Society judges people for traits including, skin colour, gender,
hair color, and body type. The media and society constantly make people feel bad about the way
they look. In Uglies, by Scott Westerfeld, the main theme is about finding one s identity in a world
that already has one made up for them. Despite this theme, the characters in the novel do not strive
to overcome society s stereotypes. The pretties, specials and the uglies do not try to break out of
society s ways and find their own identities. After the operations,... Show more content on

don t want to hurt you. But we will if we have to. This line shows how the specials have very little
emotions and feelings. They have a mission and they will do anything to achieve it. They do not

McMurphy is Not a Christ Figure in One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest
Literary fiction is littered with references to Christianity. It is very obviously a large and
influential force in the western world so it is hardly surprising that a novel such as One Flew Over
the Cuckoo s Nest, which is so questioning of our society and moral values, should be so full of
references to what is arguably the basis of these values. What the question asks, however, is if the
character of McMurphy is portrayed as a Christ figure. A Christ figure being a reflection of the New
Testament messiah within the characters actions, beliefs and effect on those around him. The
figure will then redeem his followers, lead them to salvation, be ... Show more content on

Clara Schumann and Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel Clara Schumann and Fanny Mendelssohn were
both female composers during a time when female composers were not well supported. Their

despite their similarities, Clara and Fanny both experienced different experiences as female

Mendelssohn. Both Felix and Fanny received their earliest music education from their mother,
Lea, who taught them piano. However, Fanny continued her music education into her teen years

Fanny married the painter Wilhelm Hensel. Fanny was exposed to the oppression of females

The Impact Of Pcaob s New Audit Standard On Regulators,...
On December 15, 2015, the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) posted new
final regulations that require auditors of public companies to disclose the identity of the
engagement partner on each audit, as well as information on other accounting firms that
participated in each audit (PCAOB 2015). Although the new AuditStandards seem to be perfectly
reasonable and relatively low in cost, they obviously will impose a certain workload on
accounting firms, which will translate into certain additional costs. So who pays for this? Not the
PCAOB, of course, but the accounting firms, who will no doubt pass these costs on to their clients.
In this paper, I will analyze the impact of PCAOB s new audit standard on regulators, financial...

In Taiwan, every audit report requires the disclosure of both the audit firm and the audit
engagement partner s name (Huang, 2009). The fact that many large economy countries like
Taiwan follows the standard shows that this rule is effective in enhance audit quality as well as
the public trust in audit at a certain degree. An audit partner plays a very important role in the
quality of the audit. They primarily responsible for the final audit quality even though audit
quality is the result of the whole audit team. Therefore, having audit engagement partner s name

quality. Moreover, financial report users will feel more comfortable to reliance on the audit report
when they know in confidence the person who holds accountability for the audit report is. The
ultimate purpose of the PCAOB is to improve the quality of financial reporting and its benefits to
users. For the same reason, making the U.S auditing standards compatible with its global
counterparts would improve audit quality and usefulness, especially since many U.S companies

The boy could also be a problem in the future. We know quite quickly that all is not well for both
narrators because they both hint of the outcome, and confess early. In A confession found in a
prison in the time of Charles II the narrator says I will set down the naked truth without disguise
showing that he will reveal the whole story. He also says My name is written in the black book of
death, which shows that he is line for execution for something that he has done wrong. The same
sort of theme applies for The Tell Tale
Heart when the narrator quotes How calmly I can tell you the whole story. This shows that
something is going to be confessed in the near future. Both authors use short sentences at the
beginnings of their stories.
They use this writing technique to build tension. This is shown better in the The Tell Tale Heart,

Reflective Journal Number Two Essay
Reflective Journal Number Two
I am going to look back at a situation on my unit in the operating room (OR) where I
implemented a change using some of the distinguishing characteristics authentic leaders posses
according to Maria Shirey in 2006. I have worked in the OR for 13 years and have witnessed
many changes take place, both good and bad. Our situation was unique because staffing coverage
must be 24 hours due to our level 1 trauma status. The RN s brought forward the current system
used for scheduling during holidays was unfair with no apparent pattern. It was very random with
many of the same RN s working the majority of the holidays. Nurses comments ranged from, Why
am I always on the major holidays, I never get to spend the holidays with my family, and the same
people are getting the holidays off, why is that? Management overlooked the fairness for covering
the schedule. Holiday coverage is reduced to two teams and a charge nurse which consists of five
staff members, allowing more staff to be off. Everything was status quo to management until it was
mentioned at a staff meeting with much dissatisfaction.
I was asked by my manager to lead a committee of RN s. She chose the staff to participate on this
committee. The goal was to propose a new system for holiday scheduling that was fair and
systematic. My leader was empowering her staff to make positive changes; she was encouraging
creativity by motivating her followers (Grossman Valiga, 2013).

take one task at a time and go from there, being proactive when life challenges come up. I work at

Fodor And Pylyshyn Summary
If Fodor and Pylyshyn are correct and every case of seeing a thing involves seeing a thing as
something or other, then we must reject Dretske s second proposition: if S sees x, and x is F,
that does not imply that S sees that x is an F. This is because, seeing x (a thing) as something or
other is equivalent to seeing a fact about x (that x is F). If I see a thing (a tree for instance) as
something or other (say, a Ficus), then I see a fact about that tree (that tree is a Ficus). Thus, for
the purposes that Fodor and Pylyshyn use the term seeing as and Dretske uses seeing facts, we
can consider these terms interchangeable. This leaves us with the following proposition: every
case of seeing must also involve fact seeing. Thus, we are now in a position where if S sees x, and
x is F, that does imply that S sees that x is F.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fodor and Pylyshyn are careful to place these constraints on their notion of seeing as in their
paper. They point out that if I see Tonto s friend as the man on the horse, it does not follow that I
see the Lone Ranger. This is because the man on the horse is the intentional object of my
perception, not the Lone Ranger. I may not be able to take on the Lone Ranger as an intentional
object because I may not know who the Lone Ranger is, or, I may believe the Lone Ranger to be
a myth therefore I only see a man dressed as the Lone Ranger. Thus, when we say that every case
of seeing involves fact seeing, we are not saying that every case of seeing involves seeing just
any facts. Rather, we can only see the facts that we are aware of; Tonto s friend on the horse for
instance. Now that we have suitably constrained our proposition, we can properly address how it
affects Dretske s analysis of change

Genetic Engineering In Margaret Atwood s Oryx And Crake
Margaret Atwood s Oryx and Crake characterizes the world after an uncontrolled experiment
causing near total destruction of all human kind. In the eyes of Snowman, also known as Jimmy,
we witness his journeys back and forth between the reminiscences of the past and the present. The
major calamities slowly make its transition as it all began in the hands of man who believed in the
works of biotechnology, as a ground breaking vitality to humanity, only to be destroyed by their
own creations and conceptions. Similar to reality, biotechnology took off as it began cross
breeding and modifying produce the creators desired genetically modified organisms, also known
as GMOs. As how Atwood s views the world pessimistically through the trials of error from genetic
engineering, she warns us and abstracts the reasons that the pervasive usage of the sciences and
technology to be a source to the downfall of humanity.
Deeply entrenched within society is the idea that we are continually advancing and developing in
all sorts of ways, but mainly for the benefit of human vitality. In Oryx and Crake, one of the
experiments the scientists and researchers focuses on is their pigoon project, where they can grow
an assortment of foolproof human tissue organs in transgenic knockout pig hosts (22). The pigs are
genetically modified by inserting human cells into them so they can internally reproduce the same
organs as humans do, and are also inserted with spliced genes to fend off attacks by

Connection between study and practice. All my knowledge in service marketing and sales were
very helpful and useful during my internship. They bring me a lot of new ideas to be focus on
what I m doing and what to expect from me. Particularly during my MiBA studies I loved to read
marketing reports, they are all very useful to have a global vision to marketing strategies of the
company. During my internship I saw how the marketing chief plans this report with a new
form of planning that actually it s use by programmers, it s call Planning Poker , this game
should force people to think independently and to avoid the influence of the other participants.
That was something innovating for me. Working Routine. My working routine began with some
lessons of sales force. Learning Sales Force was quite an experience as the company use this
CRM system to automate all sales procedures such as mass mail for all leads, creation of
itineraries, tracking leads activities with html codes scripts on our mails signatures, and even
making a whole travel plane for internal needs (internal reports, costs, products to add) and
beautiful templates for final costumers. This study took about 3 4 hours per day. Then, I checked
my email from Gmail, and also I have an email application from Mac, which contains 5 other email
accounts for all mail accounts I had for the company. Then I open up Facebook and Hootsuite to
check my social networking updates.

Splintered Essay On Alice In Wonderland
Published in 2013 by Amulet Paperbacks, Splintered is the first book of the heart warming
Splintered series written by A.G Howard, filled to the brim with heartbreaks, sacrifices, and
betrayals. There are multiple genres in which this book fits in. These genres include Romance,
Adventure, and Fantasy, with some scenes of affection and many more adventures, laced with
difficulties and trials. The protagonist of Splintered is a naive and stubborn teenage girl named
Alyssa Gardner with a strange hobby of using insects for her morbid mosaics and also the daughter
of a father with a mysterious past and a mother in an asylum for attempted murder. And the
antagonist? Well, that s up to you to decide.
Howard bases the book on Alice in Wonderlandby ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is told in Alyssa s point of view. Howard has somehow weaved all these fantastically complex
and interesting details into one book perfectly. It fits into most of the things that Alice in
Wonderland introduces but makes the reader think that all of the beauty and the light is mistaken,
for this book is set in a dark and mad landscape with creatures inside of which Tim Burton would
be proud of. In Wonderland, Howard makes Wonderland make no sense. As Morpheus says:
You understand the logic behind the illogical, Alyssa.
Morpheus is stating that there is sense behind nonsense, which is complete and utterly nonsense.
Which sort of makes sense, because it is Wonderland they are talking about, where there is logic
behind the illogical .
Personally, this book is one of the best books I have ever read. I am really into this book and the
way that it jumps off of Alice in Wonderland makes it really enticing, perhaps because I am a
huge fan of Alice in Wonderland. The detail of the setting, the characters, and the emotions make it
very realistic and full of life as if you could almost hear the heartbeat of each of the characters in
the book. This is truly a must read and I highly recommend this

to be. However, we strive to provide you with as many facts as possible and in this case the

concern we found while researching this company. You can then use the information we have given
you in this review to make your own determination about whether or not they are the right merchant
account services company for your particular needs.
An over abundance of Better Business Bureau complaints
Misrepresentation of rates
Contract issues and early termination fees
Extremely negative reviews on the online public forums
An Over Abundance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, we can tell you that the biggest complaint we found was due to undisclosed and hidden
fees.
Additionally, the Better Business Bureau file for Leaders Merchant Services shows that they also
have 21 separate consumer reviews from people who have reported having negative experiences
with them. This is in addition to their existing complaints. And the one last issue we want to
mention is that the BBB website states that they reached out to Leaders Merchant Services
regarding this negative pattern of allegations and asked what steps they were taking to correct and
/or eliminate the underlying cause of this trend, but Leaders did not respond.
Misrepresentation Of Rates
Leaders Merchant Services shows a disturbing sales trend of not disclosing most, if not all of their
fees such as: the early termination fee, PCI compliance fees, non compliance fees, annual fees and
many other fees that were not disclosed. Additionally, Leaders Merchant Services is notorious for
raising their rates, making it difficult to cancel your service, poor customer service practices,
unauthorized account charges and for funds being withheld without notification. This is extremely
alarming to say the

Her death certificate states that she died from cardiovascular disease. According to Chang s will,

Tanishq Essay
The Tanishq saga began in the early 1990 s, primarily fueled by the fabled Tata entrepreneurial
spirit and partly forced by circumstance. Tanishq was coined from a combination of Tata/Tamil
Nadu and Nishq (meaning a necklace of gold coins) and, again, from Tan, meaning body and Ishq,
meaning love. Tanishq has set up its 1,35,000 sq. ft production factory at Hosur, Tamil Nadu. Well
equipped with modern machinery, this factory functions as the production and sourcing base for
the research of the jewelry crafts in India. Every product here is painstakingly crafted to perfection
to keep in line with Tanishq s repute. Presently, this factory employs more than three hundred and
eighty highly skilled workforces, among who are award winning... Show more content on

To maintain its status, Tanishq continuously incorporates different strategies from time to time to
keep the fire of innovation burning, something that is most critical to today s organization.
Mission Vision It was launched in 1994 as a range of jewelry and jewelry watches meant for the
European American markets. But things began to change globally around this time, and the West
entered a protracted period of slow economic growth followed by recession. Supplying jewelry to
the Americans Europeans suddenly no longer seemed an attractive proposition. Initially, the
criticism for Titan s foray into jewelry was loud and often bitter. Eventually, however, the critics
were silenced. Tanishq, today, is perhaps the only major Tata brand with a strong appeal for
women. Very importantly, Tanishq has brought to the market a whole new standard of business
ethics and product reliability, in the process bringing about a transformation in the manner in
which jewelry is bought and sold in India. It has created a revolution in the Indian jewelry trade
and in jewelry buying behavior, and continues to set new parameters of excellence for others to
follow. The Indian market, on the other hand, opened its doors to the world, and was

  • 6. Amish Cultural Beliefs Amish Cultural and Religious Beliefs Impacting Health Care Trends Walking into an Amish community is like taking a trip through time. They are a religious group that has upheld the standards of a life far removed from the modern world. The Amish come from descendants from German speaking nations in and around Europe (Henderson, 2010). As such, church hymns and other important documents are written in a type of Germanic language, known sometimes as Pennsylvania Dutch. German and Pennsylvania Dutch are still common methods for formal communication within the Amish community, although most of its members speak English in informal situations. The community also upholds social roles that many would find outdated. Women are restricted to the household, and thus their roles are severely limited compared to women in modern communities. It is the men that have more freedom within the community. Also, many within the Amish community tend to take the view point that everything happens for a reason. This then impacts their overall view of individual health and tragedies. When an individual gets sick or dies, many within the community believe it was God s will, and so often not much is done to prevent God s will from manifesting (Henderson, 2010). Thus, it is clear that their cultural and religious beliefs impact their overall health. The Amish extreme views and beliefs often keep them separate from the rest of society, which can have an impact on their overall health and how they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Quiet American Compare And Contrast When individuals are faced to have to morally attempt to solve their differences, they have to make a choice to respond negatively or positively, because that is the only way to grow as a human being. Graham Greene, who writes The Quiet American, uses two characters Thomas Fowler and Alden Pyle to show how when given a situation, they will each respond differently because they are completely the opposite of each other. It is even harder to do when it is about a female that they both like. Pyle is an American compared to Folwer being a British man, which means they will never see eye to eye. From the first time he ever laid eyes on Phuong, he instantly fell in love: but unfortunately she already had a man. That didn t stop him from trying and he kept trying until he got what he wanted, even though it took a long time. The one advantage he had over Fowler is that Phuong s sister preferred Pyle. The way he goes among this is very proper because he tells Fowler his intentions from the get go and that does not go over very well, for the reason Fowler doesn t want anyone else to have her. Pyle gets her and is going to marry her, but before he can he is murdered, which eventually lets Fowler get Phuong back. As discussed in the text, transformational leadership is characteristic of a leader that helps bring about major, positive changes by moving group members beyond their self interests and toward the good of the group, organization, or society. The essence of transformational leadership is developing and transforming people (Dubrin) . A perfect portrayal of this leadershipstyle is Walt Disney. Walt Disney transformed the hearts and minds by setting forth a visionary reality. Walt motivated his employees and encouraged them to inspire achievement. An enthusiastic leader keeps the employees engaged and more likely to keep them of a positive mindset. The third characteristic is confidence. Disney is famous for his quote It takes people to make the dream a reality . Disney was confident in his ideals and his vision, and he was confident in the people he had working with him to make it happen. He worked hard to instill that confidence in those people around him. It takes true confidence in oneself to feel connected to and truly engaged because not only do you know that those around you believe in you, but most importantly that you believe in you. When a leader is confident those that work under that leader are more likely to perform better because they are assured of a confident future. The fourth characteristic is courage. Disney historian Craig Hodgkins said of Walt that he was completely focused on his product and his goals, not on himself (ISU). By being able to do this, the leader s energy is honed into the mission and not reflective of how one looks or appears and exclusively about the brand. The fifth characteristic is persistence. The things that are worthwhile are hard work. Walt understood this and was persistent to the end. He set out to finish what he started. This is an extremely important ... Federalism Is A System Of Government Nothing is more certain than the indispensable necessity of government, and it is equally undeniable, that whenever and however it is instituted, the people must cede to it some of their natural rights in order to vest it with requisite powers. (Federalist No.2). According to dictionary, com, it defines the word federalism as a political concept describing the practice whereby a group of members are bound by agreement or covenant. The word federalism comes from the Latin word foedus, which means covenant. Federalism refers to a system of government in which sovereignty is constitutionally shared between a central governing authority and constituent political units. Federalism is a system based upon democratic rules and institutions in which the power to govern is shared between national and provincial/state governments. The term federalist describes several political beliefs around the world depending on context. When the colonies were first coming along, the people in the colonies were coming up with rules for their colony, but as the country developed, it was agreed that the country as a whole should have a set rules that should be followed by all of the colonies. Federalism was considered political compromise for the problems with the Articles of Confederation being not in favor of both liberals and conservatives. Evil is knowing you are doing wrong or wanting to do something wrongful. In Lord of the Flies, the characters convey Philip Zimbardo s theory of anonymity, conformity, and boredom by demonstrating how those three theories can be a catalyst for evil. Philip Zimbardo is a psychologist who once was the president of American Psychological Association. Anonymity is the first catalyst for evil in Philip Zimbardo s theory that is demonstrated by the school boys in Lord of the Flies. These facts can be found in Lord of the Flies and Finding Hope in Knowing the Universal Capacity for Evil. Right after the death he screamed at Ralph I m Chief he also said There isn t a tribe for you anymore! The conch is gone (Golding 181). Jack meaning behind this is there is no order left. In the Finding Hope in Knowing the Universal Capacity for Evil the University of Stanford did a risky experiment that Philip described. Zimbardo says, Boredom is a powerful motive for evil (Dreifus). He even went on to describe some of the evil acts the guards did to the prisoners: starving them, not allowing them to sleep, dragging their naked bodies in the yard, and more. These are the first three lines of Nalo Hopkinson s short story Riding the Red , a modern adaptation of Charles Perrault s Little Red Riding Hood . In his fairy talePerrault prevents girls from men s nature. In Hopkinson s adaptation, the goal remains the same: through the grandmother biographic narration, the author elaborates a slightly revisited plot without altering the moral: young girls should beware of men; especially when they seem innocent. The mother sees her mother s personal story as a ghastly old wi[fe s] tale[s]. (1 2) therefore there is no rush to inform her child on dangers, but also because she believes her girl is too young. Essay about On Delacroix and Courbet On Delacroix and Courbet The period surrounding 1781 to 1855 in France s history is united by social and political change, an evolution of ideological struggles towards the best possible political struggle amongst anchoring human faults. The life of the artist too underwent change and struggled with the hierarchy that existed to validate artistic triumph. Changes are apparent amongst a broad spectrum, including David, Ingres, history paintings and caricatures. Artists that demonstratively epitomize the shifts, overwhelmingly united by a shift from acceptance to defiance, are Eugene Delacroix (1789 1863) and Gustave Courbet (1819 1877). Delacroix s first winning painting was Dante and Virgil in Hell (1822). This painting was indeed a success: the French believed themselves to be a modern embodiment of the Classics, and Dante and Virgil reinforced this well enough. The painting is deemed a revolution in itself. The colors blend together so much that the painting is better understood from farther away than up close. Fans triumphed it s subject matter: ...romanticism will not consist in a perfect execution, but in a conception analogous to the ethical disposition of the age. This painting, after the Divine Comedy, also embeds Delacroix in the literary movement. This movement was vital to the overall organization of history painting, as a sharp literary vocabulary of the painter was admired if not necessary. Delacroix has a fondness for Dante and Shakespeare, two other great painters of human anguish. Delacroix concerned himself with grand, tortured ideas. This literary fascination of Shakespeare, Bryon, Sir Walter Scott, etc. can be seen as a departure from the classics into modernity even though it served as good grounding for him. The way of Delacroix is a distinct, unique flair. Although Delacroix was the youngest artist with works in the Louvre, his antagonistic paintings would begin to receive more demanding criticism. A mix of European harmony and African rhythm, blended with the current styles of the time such as ragtime and rhythm and blues, Jazz can be seen as an amalgamation of different cultures and has had huge influences on, and evolved concurrently with, American society in the past century. The Great Depression that followed was the worst crisis in America since the Civil War. As the 1930s began, one out of every four wage earners more than 15 million men and women was without work. Like many industries in The Great Depression, the music industry struggled for survival. American record companies, which were selling more than 100 million records a year throughout the twenties, had now dropped to just six million. (Burns, online). With this struggle and misery ever so present, people began to look to music as an emotional escape. Musicians needed to play it and the rest of society needed to hear it. The Depression meant that millions of people all over America would now be exposed to the sounds of all kinds of music played by all kinds of people for free. As Burns explains, jazz, which had always thrived in adversity and come to symbolize a certain kind of American freedom, would be called upon to lift the spirits and raise the morale of a frightened country. And in the process, it would begin to break down the barriers that had separated Americans from each other for centuries. In the mid 1930s, as the Great Depression stubbornly refused to lift, jazz came as close as it has ever come to being America s popular music. (Burns, online). Now labeled Swing it was a shining ... With more than five thousand years of traditional culture, China has a formal set of values, beliefs, customs, language, etc., which have been passed generations. Confucianism is the most influential philosophy guiding Chinese people living in different centuries. Most of the Chinese people treat filial piety as the most important traditional value. It requires the younger generation to follow the elders words without a doubt. The second primary source that is used by Jonah and Tait is an archaeological investigation of Acadian agricultural households. This is an incredible source that they picked because this source allows us to understand what the structure of these people s homes would be like in the 18th century. I m not sure exactly where the writers get this information for this next source, but I do believe it is a secondary source worth mentioning. Two historians named Maurice Basque and Josette Brun has gathered examples of Acadian women who have stepped out in wanting to participate in the public realm .This would be very credible source because historians do a lot of research into their topics and often get their work published in books. Both works of writing display war as a painful and and traumatizing experience. However, this poem reflects the message in The Things They Carried chapter, Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong most accurately. Both the chapter and the poem share the theme that war can take away a person s humanity. In the lines, We ve dug a hole, called a trench, Humanity is gone, replaced with stench (Dejnicki) the author is trying to convey that a soldier in war can have their humanity striped away and uses the symbolism of stench to describe the foul persona that may replace it. It was very random with many of the same RN s working the majority of the holidays. Nurses comments ranged from, Why am I always on the major holidays, I never get to spend the holidays with my family, and the same people are getting the holidays off, why is that? Management overlooked the fairness for covering the schedule. Holiday coverage is reduced to two teams and a charge nurse which consists of five staff members, allowing more staff to be off. Everything was status quo to management until it was mentioned at a staff meeting with much dissatisfaction. I was asked by my manager to lead a committee of RN s. • 39. Fodor And Pylyshyn Summary If Fodor and Pylyshyn are correct and every case of seeing a thing involves seeing a thing as something or other, then we must reject Dretske s second proposition: if S sees x, and x is F, that does not imply that S sees that x is an F. This is because, seeing x (a thing) as something or other is equivalent to seeing a fact about x (that x is F). If I see a thing (a tree for instance) as something or other (say, a Ficus), then I see a fact about that tree (that tree is a Ficus). Thus, for the purposes that Fodor and Pylyshyn use the term seeing as and Dretske uses seeing facts, we can consider these terms interchangeable. This leaves us with the following proposition: every case of seeing must also involve fact seeing. Thus, we are now in a position where if S sees x, and x is F, that does imply that S sees that x is F.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I may not be able to take on the Lone Ranger as an intentional object because I may not know who the Lone Ranger is, or, I may believe the Lone Ranger to be a myth therefore I only see a man dressed as the Lone Ranger. They bring me a lot of new ideas to be focus on what I m doing and what to expect from me. Particularly during my MiBA studies I loved to read marketing reports, they are all very useful to have a global vision to marketing strategies of the company. During my internship I saw how the marketing chief plans this report with a new form of planning that actually it s use by programmers, it s call Planning Poker , this game should force people to think independently and to avoid the influence of the other participants. That was something innovating for me. Working Routine. My working routine began with some lessons of sales force. • 44. Splintered Essay On Alice In Wonderland Published in 2013 by Amulet Paperbacks, Splintered is the first book of the heart warming Splintered series written by A.G Howard, filled to the brim with heartbreaks, sacrifices, and betrayals. There are multiple genres in which this book fits in. These genres include Romance, Adventure, and Fantasy, with some scenes of affection and many more adventures, laced with difficulties and trials. The protagonist of Splintered is a naive and stubborn teenage girl named Alyssa Gardner with a strange hobby of using insects for her morbid mosaics and also the daughter of a father with a mysterious past and a mother in an asylum for attempted murder. And the antagonist? Well, that s up to you to decide. Howard bases the book on Alice in Wonderlandby ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is told in Alyssa s point of view. Howard has somehow weaved all these fantastically complex and interesting details into one book perfectly. It fits into most of the things that Alice in Wonderland introduces but makes the reader think that all of the beauty and the light is mistaken, for this book is set in a dark and mad landscape with creatures inside of which Tim Burton would be proud of. In Wonderland, Howard makes Wonderland make no sense. As Morpheus says: You understand the logic behind the illogical, Alyssa. Morpheus is stating that there is sense behind nonsense, which is complete and utterly nonsense. Which sort of makes sense, because it is Wonderland they are talking about, where there is logic behind the illogical . Personally, this book is one of the best books I have ever read. I am really into this book and the way that it jumps off of Alice in Wonderland makes it really enticing, perhaps because I am a huge fan of Alice in Wonderland. The detail of the setting, the characters, and the emotions make it very realistic and full of life as if you could almost hear the heartbeat of each of the characters in the book. This is truly a must read and I highly recommend this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
