Eye Of The Sea Research Paper
Glistening water, beautiful coral composed of your friendly neighbourhood porifera, but what
lays beyond the cliff of coral into deep, dark waters? PhD student, Erika Raymond, and her PhD
advisor, Edith Widder sent the Eye of the Sea to the Bahamas to observe the unknown waters. A
variety of other scientists came up with their own understandings of deep sea life and how they
differ from the creatures above the waters. One of the characteristics that caught the attention of
scientists were the animals enlarged eyes that adapted to see bioluminescent materials. Scientists
can use this information to improve their technology to help them find and observe in the lab or
at least unobtrusively through a camera deep sea creatures natural ways of living. Scientists are
interested in how the different deep sea species have evolved since the Mesozoic era with very
minimal interactions with humans or man made objects. However, their habitats are too dangerous
for humans; I suspect there would not have been as much evolution as seen in land animals,
considering the fact that in 2004, Raymond and Widder had spotted a 2 metre squid using Eye of
the Sea. Could there be other organisms that retain their size from the dinosaur ages just because
there wasn t much of a reason for them to evolve?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Scientists were dumbfounded when they discovered that deep sea fish can detect light outside of
the blue green range (short wavelengths of blue green light can travel to farther depths underwater,
where you would be able to detect bioluminescence). With further observations, they found that a
species of bottom dwelling crabs can even detect UV light. In other animals, like the dragonfish,
their searchlights have fluorescent proteins that shift the bluish bioluminescence to the red

Major event
(i)The 1960 s to the mid 1970 s saw a booming New Zealand economy and a Labour shortage
throughout New Zealand. The Pacific Island people were vital to filling these shortages.
(ii)Dawn raids of the 1970s in New Zealand were undertaken by the police at the direction of the
Department of Immigration.
(iii)In 1964 the Cook Islands were granted full internal self government; A Constitution Act was
created. This allowed open access to New Zealand by the Cook Island people.
Community contribution
(i)New Zealand had relaxed its immigration controls and it was the highest rate of Pacific Island
people migration to New Zealand.
(ii)The Pacific Island people felt mistreated. From this emerged the Polynesian Panthers, a group
who stood up for their rights.
(iii)The Cook Islands wanted to be self governed but knew they wouldn t survive economically,
being independent.

Migration In Canada
The composition of Canada s population today is very different than it was many decades ago. In
years prior to World War II Canada s ethnic homegenetity was made up of mostly the British and
French, although Canada was previously inhabited by Natives. However, people began a migration
process that saw increased movement of people from one place to another through the world.
Canada, being one of the classical migration countries began to pull immigrants at one period,
then a push occurred after the world war that saw emigration out of Canada. This was followed by
another period of pull factors that saw an expansion in the makeup of Canada s ethnic population.
According to Beaujot (2003) these push and pull factors are based on immigrant social and life
course choices. The following are some of the ways that migration have influenced the ethnic...

According to Beaujot, until the 1970s the ethnic population was essentially composed of
European and French Canadian. Castles et.al (2014) notes as the growth of the fur industry
became predominate in Canada there was an increase in settlers, traders and missionaries
emigrating from France and Britain. Reitz (2014) illustrated that about 80% of the of immigrants
prior to 1961 was European the remaining population was non white. However, the periods
following 1961 to 2001 saw a decline in the ethnic makeup as some of the Europeans and
Americans began to immigrate back to their country of origin. The European Canadian population
began to decline, possibly because of the rise in demand of skilled labor in Europe, as well as the
economic success that raised demand for skilled labor for the U.S. In the mid 1900 s Canada
began to experience an increase in out migration mainly to the U.S. and Europe. In response
Canada began to compete for skilled immigrants from all around the

Question 6. Many drug safety research studies are sponsored by pharmaceutical companies that
would financially benefit if the results of the study are favorable. Is this an example of a potential
confounding factor? A confounding factor is an important difference between the two groups you

would most likely be two groups involved in the experimental study: the control group and the

Maxen Prologue
Maxen stomped up to him. Do not speak of your mother like that. I will not accept it.
You re right, I shouldn t. Shaking with fury, anger burning bright red on his cheeks, Rory grabbed
the front of Maxen s tunic in his fist and spoke through clenched teeth. This is your fault. My
mother was a young, innocent queen when you met. You took advantage of her. Seduced her. She
did nothing wrong, you did.
Rory, stop it, Audra pleaded. I love Maxen and I always have. I loved your father, too, but there are
different kinds of love...
No. Rory kept his grip on Maxen s tunic. He confused you, Mother. You were young. You don t

Audra nodded, allowing the Maxen s strong arms to offer comfort.

Not long after Rory s hasty departure, Audra sent for Vaughan and Rignuth. They sat across from

Through her hysterical sobs, she d told Maxen that she would disclose their secret to Vaughan and

Stereotypes In Everyday Life
From one day to the next, a traumatic experience can detrimentally change one s life, and just
like that, a person s daily life can dramatically change. Stereotypes are pictures that people get
from a certain type of group that can be judged and can be exaggerated to a point where opinions
tend to get out of hand. People live in a world where people judge others from top to bottom,
when one sees others living their life in a way differently than they would live theirs, causes them
to judge for the way the different people live. My personal experience has definitely made me a
stronger personin hundreds of ways. In the summer of 2014, my grandmother was diagnosed with

Voting Vs Evms
Voting is one of the single most important rights that an American citizen can take advantage of.
However, the method of how a voter should cast their ballots has become a topic of controversy in
recent years. For centuries, voting polls across the world have relied on simple paper ballots to
reach a conclusive result; but, with the introduction of much more efficient electronic voting
machines, or EVMs , the question has risen... Which voting systemis superior? In my opinion,
EVMs are the superior method of casting a ballot and there are several reasons why I say so.
EVMs are simply more efficient than paper ballots. When a vote occurs, every citizen s ballot is
stored in the machine s memory then digitally transferred to a single location to be tallied up. With
paper ballots, each slip of paper must be carefully stored and counted... Show more content on

Many citizens believe that voters should stick to the orthodox method of casting paper ballots
and not implement these new EVMs. Their primary reasoning behind this thinking is the fear of
having an EVM hacked and their votes tampered with. With any electronic machine it is a valid
arguement to be afraid of recording private information on it due to the ever present threat of
hacking. However, according to the passage, EVMs are not connected to the internet nor are
they easily tampered with due to the recording of every action during the voting process. In the
opposing passage it states that a magazine published an article in which the writer explaines how
he was able to tamper with votes on EVMs. I believe this to be a unreliable source of information
because tampering with votes is a very severe federal crime that I doubt anyone would publically
admit to commiting. So while I can understand where the fear of EMVs is coming from, I seriously
doubt that the confidentiality of ballots is at risk with these

Mexican Immigrants in United States Essay
Mexican Immigrants in United States
It is clear that the US is finding the constant flow of would be Mexican immigrants an increasing
problem, as is shown by the fact that their Border Patrol budget increased by 180% between 1993
and 1998, to reach a total of $4.2 billion by 1999. The USA will be employing 11,000 people to
guard the border by September 2002, and 17,000 by 2008. But why does America see Mexican
migrants as such a problem? And why do so many people consider it necessary to emigrate from
Mexico to the US, sometimes employing desperate measures? How has such a situation arisen?
These are questions I hope to address in this project, in which I will use a variety of sources to try

The eastern region of the border along the Rio Bravo (later called Rio Grande in the United States)
was more hospitable, and attracted a larger population. The Rio Grande/Rio Bravo, a symbol of
separation in Texas, males up more than half the length of the border. In the decades following the
Mexican American War (1850s), US farmers and agricultural workers came to dominate US
Mexican trade across this Texas river border. Shortly after their rise, these merchants became quite
wealthy and bought large areas of land in Texas and became more powerful than the Mexican
settlers on both sides of the border. This created an economic conflict that is still present today.
During the Mexican Revolution, which began in 1910, the border population increased
significantly as many moved across the border from Mexico to the USA seeking refuge. Migration

degree in my desired field. Furthermore, I will achieve my long term career goal and seek

This goal is important to me because I have an enormous interest with the work carried out by the
BAU. Human behavior interests me, but what s most interesting to me is finding out why the
behaviors are carried out by people. The BAU works with solving criminal cases to determine the
cause of the attacks, murders, or rapes. With this information, they can use it to help stop the
criminals while additionally preventing this type of behavior in the future since they now have the
behavior cues to look for in individuals. This ties into my purpose statement because as
aforementioned, learning interests me but especially learning about human behavior and in return I
am prepared to give back to society by assisting in keeping them safe from these targeted crimes.
My capacity to be analytical as per my strengths quest results infer that I will successfully be able
to accomplish these tasks using critical thinking. My analytical qualities will also assist with
helping me stand out from my peers while at the same time providing important feedback while
solving cases. One possible obstacles for not achieving this long term career goal is that I don t
meet the requirements for joining the FBI. I can overcome this obstacle by ensuring I do as much
research as possible with their requirements and ensure I meet these stipulations before graduating.

Not only do aquatic animals live in these rivers, plenty of aquatic plants live there too

chemical contaminants to the water. Any excess nutrients that come from urban runoff or vehicle
emissions will cause harmful algae to grow which blocks sunlight and does not allow plants to

Analysis Of Susan Sontag s Article On Photography
Bicky Lenh Vabiana Santos Option 2
In the essay On Photography written in the 1970 s, author Susan Sontag states that photographs
really are experience captured and the camera helps us put ourselves into the relation of the
photographs. The practice of photography gives us assurance by its accurate relation to reality than
any other devices. Sontag sets many insights that still exist in today s photographic society, but it
has been modernized into our generation of photographic technology. As Sontag asserts that
photographs are a tool that we rely on when we are in doubt of something. During 1871, the camera
became a useful tool for controlling surveillance. (167) Today store owners set up video cameras to
prevent robberies, shoplifting, etc. We have included this practice to serious matters, such as using
photographs in courts to prove innocence, and taking photos at crime scenes to record clues for
investigation. Furthermore, it has worked in favor of the public. One recent news that demonstrates
this is the UC Davis pepperspray incident. Students were seated, protesting on the pavement on
campus. Police then pepper sprayed the students after asking them to leave. The video of the police
officer pepperspraying the students went viral on the internet. As soon as the incident was
happening, many students quickly pulled out their camera phones and started recording. It allowed

The Killer Angels Quotes
For this summer, I decided to read The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara. The book took place
during Civil War times and went into good detail on what happened during the battles at
Gettysburg. The first quote that I found interesting was from the Union Colonel Joshua
Lawrence Chamberlain. The fact of slavery upon this incredibly beautiful new clean earth was
appalling, but more even than that was the horror of old Europe, the curse of nobility, which the
South was transplanting to new soil (Shaara 27). This quote was significant because it described
the feelings of the average Union soldier towards slavery. The Union fought to end slavery
because as shown by people like Chamberlain, they believed that slavery was against a man s
good nature and did not want it to effect the new land of the United States. The second quote that I
found significant was another quote from Chamberlain on how he describes a young black man
who was injured from escaping his slave master. The man was really very black. Chamberlain felt an

Of course, many teens will never experience the level of nighttime terror Christopher faced from
his father in The Curious Incident of the Night time, or the secretive emotional and physical

right thing takes shape for the growing young life of the average teen, standing apart from the
crowd and being a unique voice with an equally unique perspective can feel like being inmured
and being set free, at the same time. The mind of a wise teen creates social and emotional strain
by triggering an awareness of right and wrong, as well as a desire to vocalize this approach. So,
sitting back and being quiet about the circumstances is no longer possible. Once the darkness of

Fame and Glory in Dante s Divine Comedy Essay
What is fame? Fame is but a slow decay Even this shall pass away. Theodore Tilton The Divine
Comedy, by Dante Alighieri, is a poem laden with such Christian themes as love, the search for
happiness, and the desire to see God. Among these Christian themes, however, is Dante s obsession
with and desire for fame, which seems to be a surprising departure from conventional medieval
Christian morality. Indeed, as the poem progresses, a striking contradiction emerges. Dantethe
writer, in keeping with Christian doctrine, presents the desire for fame and glory among the soulsof
Inferno in order to replace it with humility among the souls of Purgatorio. Yet this purification of
desire is not entirely embraced by Dante,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To which Pier replies, Your sweet speech draws me so that I cannot be still (Inferno, Canto XIII,
Lines 55 56). Even Dante is spurred on by promises of fame while in Inferno. During the difficult
ascent to the seventh pouch in the eighth circle, Virgil emphasizes the importance of fame to
urge Dante to persevere. He says, Now you must cast aside your laziness, for he who rests on
down or under covers cannot come to fame (Inferno, Canto XXIV, Lines 46 47). Indeed the
willingness to be bribed by earthly fame is an aspect unique to those souls in hell. As Dante travels
towards God and towards perfection, through Purgatory and finally through Paradise, he will find
that the bargaining power of earthly fame is markedly diminished as souls become less and less
interested in and motivated by fame.
As Dante continues to Purgatorio the theme of humility starts to overshadow that of fame and
glory, especially in Dante s encounter with Oderisi, Guido Guinizzelli and Statius. In Canto XI,
Dante meets Oderisi, a respected artist. After Dante praises him, Oderisi quickly points out that
Franco Bolognese is now more famous: Brother, the pages painted by the brush of Franco
Bolognese smile more brightly: all the glory now is his; mine, but a part (Purgatorio, Canto XI,
Lines 82 85). His earthly fame was

Analysis Of Philippa Gregory s Three Sisters Three...
Three Sisters, Three Queens, a historical fiction novel written by Philippa Gregory, takes place in
16th century Europe, an era characterized by powerful monarchs whose personal and political life
are incredibly complex and intertwined. In particular, this story focuses on three women who will
become the queens of Scotland, France, and England, respectively: Margaret, her sister, Mary, and
their sister in law, Katherine of Aragon. The story is told from Margaret s point of view, who
provides a unique yet often disregarded female perspective of this era intended to demonstrate that
these ruling women are just as important to history as their male counterparts, namely Henry VIII
and James IV. The novel is centered around two types of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It would spoil everything if Mary s is French cut or more richly embroidered, or more fashionable
(293 294). Her superficial nature and blatant sense of entitlement resulting from her privileged
upbringing becomes almost comical, especially as she is so heavily concerned with her
possessions even while her country is engulfed in both civil war and war with England.
Nevertheless, Margaret still does mature with age, as she and her sisters come to realize that
they should be working together rather than separately: We spent our time admiring and
envying each other and we should have been guiding and protecting each other (544). Ironically,
on that very same page Margaret expresses delight over her sisters misfortunes: I am in a better
place than both my sisters. I cling to this little joy, as stubborn as when we were girls jockeying
for supremacy (544). Margaret s fickle nature embodies her time period, where many of the
monarchs share similar competitive desires and betrayal is commonplace. On an even grander
scale, Gregory highlights a natural human flaw and defies the idea of a perfect protagonist. Even

Dog Food Regulation
Dog food is regulated in two ways. The first way is through Federal regulations, enforced by the
FDA s Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM), is responsible for creating standards for all animal
feeds: proper identification of product, net quantity statement, manufacturer s address, and proper
listing of ingredients. The second way is by a governing body of petfoodindustry business insiders.
The board consists of state and federal representatives as well but the association of American Feed
Control Officials (AAFCO) is not a government entity. Although they develop uniform regulations,
laws, standards, and policies they are still not an enforceable government body. They urge the
adoption by member agencies for uniformity. (1) This group is... Show more content on

If the name includes the words flavored such as flavored with chicken or liver flavored then no

Net quantity
The package must conform with the U.S. Fair Packaging and Labeling Act. Remember everything
is based on net weight on a dog food label. If the produce is listed by volumn then it must also state
the equivilent in net weight. The net quantity statement describes how much product is actually in
the container. This is useful when comparing the cost of similar items. For example: a 30 pound
bag of dry food may cost less than a 15 pound bag because the smaller bag may be more
concentrated rather than puffed up with extra

The Boy In The Striped Pajamas Analysis
World war II in Germany was a dull time for the Jews, hence they were discriminated against by
the germans. Ethnicity plays a big role in this movie because it is the reason that the Jews are
locked away in the concentration camps. The movie is a representation of Political Power
becomes Personal Authority (Nichols, 2010, P.275) in the sense that Aldorf Hitler took
advantage of the vulnerable Jews. This essay will discuss the differences between the Jews and
Germans during WW II through race and ethnicity. This will be supported from examples in the
two scenes chosen, book vocabulary, as well as the formal and social content to analyze the
scenes. The movie The boy in the Striped Pajamas: is about an 8 year old, privileged German boy
named Bruno, who loves exploring, is forced to move away from Berlin with his family to the
Countryside during World War II. This is because, his father has just gotten promoted to
Commandment by Hitler himself and was asked to live closer to the concentration camps. Bruno
starts exploring the new area, and soon finds this barbed wired area where he meets a Jewish boy
named Shmuel. Shmuel is held in the concentration camps, however Bruno does not find out the
truth until the near end of the movie. Bruno and Shmuel form an undesirable bond that later in the
movie causes many tragical events. Throughout the two scenes I have chosen to discuss, there are
some similarities. First and foremost, these similarities include, the main idea of

Essay on Bravery in The Tempest
The Theme of Bravery in The Tempest
Bravery performs a very important role in The Tempest. Different than a motif, the theme of
bravery actually takes form in Shakespeare s play and develops the play itself. However, like a
motif, bravery is used intermittently throughout the play in different form and context. It captures
different meanings and performs different capacities erratically.
A denotative definition from the 15th century, according to the Merriam Webster Collegiate
Dictionary (10 ed.), portrays brave as meaning, [from Old Italian and Spanish, meaning courageous,
wild; probably from Latin, meaning barbarous]. The dictionary then defines brave as a. having
courage: dauntless b. making fine show: colorful, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example from the text of brave/bravery would be the presence of spirits and the brave
god [that] bears celestial liquor (II.ii.159). Caliban only knows spirit and charm. He has not yet
encountered what we would call a normal human relationship. The spirits of Stephano and Trinculo
are brave to the kneeling Caliban because they bear a fine show and heavenly charm that will
satisfy his need to be subject to something that is not earthly.
On and on throughout the text, the theme of bravery is evident. Brave and bravery demonstrate our
thematic process throughout the play through the Prosepero s realization of the benefits of
forgiveness over revenge. The thematic direction of Miranda s brave coming of age, and realizing of
her femininity and love of Ferdinand. The brave new world conqueror s Stephano and Trinculo
who are setting out to claim the island as their own and bravely breed a continent of issue from
the brave wonder of Miranda. Stephano bravely professes, Monster, I will kill this man: his
daughter and I will be king and queen save our graces! and Trinculo and thyself will be viceroys.
Dost thou the clouds methought would open and show riches Ready to drop upon me that, when I
waked, I cried to dream again.
Variations of the word bravery come in all different configurations. We have a brave monster
(II.ii.257), in Caliban. We have a brave lass (III.ii.153) that will bring

Unknown #19
The purpose of this study is to identify an unknown bacterium from a mixed culture. We identified
the unknown bacteria through different biochemical tests and identified the many metabolic
capabilities of the bacteria. Studying and discovering unknown bacteria is very important in the
health field as it may lead to new medicines and innovations for current, existing diseases as well as
any upcoming diseases. The discovery of unknown bacteria is very useful in the pharmaceutical
industry, as most of the products prepared are made based on these unknown organisms.
The biochemical tests used to identify the unknown bacteria included: phenol red broth test
(glucose, lactose, and sucrose), methyl red and Voges Proskauer test, citrate test, indole test, H2S
production test, urea test and motility test. The PR broths are used to differentiate members of
Enterobacteriaceae and to distinguish these members from other gram negative rods. The PR
broths are useful in determining a bacterium s fermentation abilities. If the bacterium is able to
utilize the carbohydrate, then the acid production from fermentation lowers pH, which in turn turns
the broth yellow. However, if the bacterium is unable to utilize the carbohydrate, but does utilize the
peptone, which produces the by product ammonia, the medium will have a rise in pH turning the
broth pink.

Photography Is A Type Of Art
Photography has been around for many years. In the time that the first camera was invented to
present day, various styles of photography have evolved. Two types of photography that are very
common today are street and nature or landscape photography. Although these styles of
photography have many similarities, they have some differences as well. The subject, camera
equipment, and location are three major differences in these styles. All types of photographywill
have a main focus, or subject. Street photography is a type of art that focuses on the people and
the art in which that city contains. For good street photography, you want to be located in a busy
city or downtown area. Ideal locations in the US include New York, Chicago, Los Angeles,
Seattle, Las Vegas, and many more. This is because in a large city with lots of traffic, you see
many different types of people. All street photographers have different types of styles of portraying
this in their work, but the people of a city are a main focus. Street photographers like to focus on
subjects such as construction workers working in the middle of the road, businessmen/women
rushing from point A to point B, the environment of a homeless person, and many other things. It is
also popular in street photography to capture city art like graffiti and performers.
Equipment is very important with every photographer. The two main things that are important for
good quality photos are the lens and the camera body. Street

Greenhouse Gases In Australia
Australia s annual greenhouse gas emissions have historically been steadily increasing. However,
in recent years this trend has stopped the emissions rate has steadied. The Australian nation has
been emitting in the range of 250,000 to 450,000 thousand metric tons greenhouse gases per year
from 1990 to 2010. Data from 2008 to 2012 show the carbon dioxide emissions as a fraction of the
total greenhouse gas. This goes beyond the limit agreed in the Kyoto Protocol, and hence
appropriate measures need to be taken. Several possible solutions present itself in this scenario:
Carbon Taxes
Buy the necessary amount of carbon credits
Make mining process more efficient
Reduce coal mining overall

The objective to this strategy is to boost industrial and commercial processes without having to be
concerned by the emissions of any greenhouse gas.
Another form of carbon credit trading applies to companies. If a company is having difficulties
in sticking to maximum allowable emissions amount, it can use its resources to invest in an
emission reduction project. This project will be one that produces carbon offsets, which he
company may use to cover the amount that was they could previously not. Efficiency at a power
plant is determined by energy conversion rate. This is rate is measured by the input energy
source, in this case coal, in proportion to the output, which is the power generated. The less fuel
that is required for power generation, the more efficient it is. Efficiency is very sensitive in
relation to the amount of carbon dioxide emitted. A single percentage increase in the efficiency
of a coal fired power plant yields a 2 3% reduction in the carbon dioxide levels emitted by this
plant. The power stations on the upper side on the scale of efficiency may emit up to 40% less
carbon dioxide than the average power stations currently installed. The efficiency of power plant
improvements include the most cost effective and shortest lead time actions for reducing emissions
from coal fired electricity. This is especially true in developing and lower economy countries

When the children are performing, we can see how they have less respect for the culture by

kids and then zooming in on Pai s face showing her in shock. I also added in a scene showing the
community laughing. This scene shows how the whole community isn t committed to their culture.
Pai is the only child who doesn t find this disrespect funny. This scene shows how Pai is fully

generation. The new generation in the film do care about their culture which is the complete
opposite to the elder generations who show full respect to their ancestors.
When Pai s father, Porourangi arrives, the mise en scene of their surroundings is important because
it connects them with their culture. Their surroundings include carvings and cultures of their

Zombies originated in Haiti from a belief that witch doctors could create a hypnotic slave through

cinematic venture from an independent film company in 1932. The result of this movie consisted
of insulting reviews even from a modern day critic, Matt Bruson, who said, The supporting cast is
awful and the low budget dictates a few moments worthy of MST3K ribbing. But the atmosphere
of dread is pungent, the use of sound is inspired, and the makeup by the great Jack Pierce and Carl
Axcelle is minimal but effective ( White). The box office produced different results than predicted
by the critics.
Critics did not help advertise the film White Zombie, but the viewers didn t seem to care. Upon
release, the movie sold a record of 16,728 tickets in Cleveland, Ohio alone, which was considered a

Why I Am My Freedom At The Time Is Truly Freedom, Or...
Millions of choices ripple through our lives daily bringing overwhelming possibilities to endless
paths. Each of these trifling choices brings us to who we are today. But, it only takes one
minimal choice to halt our future and steer us spiraling in a different direction. It s with this ONE
choice that years later led me to What Ifs? and regrets, and made me question whether my freedom
at the time was truly freedom, or constraint. From a very young age, I was raised around horses.
Through generations of Andersons riding was a given, a family trait, however, riding was never
that important to me. I was taught to ride when I was just six years old and started competing when
I was ten. I spent countless afternoons training after school, trotting and cantering around the horse
track or down riding trails. For a while riding, was liberating, a release from the outside world,
but as I turned fourteen riding became something that only squandered my free time. For months
I made excuses, or lied about going to the stables. I did not know how to tell my Mom that I no
longer shared her love for riding, it meant too much to her, to my family, but I was sick of
spending my free time doing something I no longer enjoyed. Eventually my Mom caught on to
my tricks, yet her response was unexpected. She was calm and collected and allowed me to quit
on a whim. It was not till years later that I realized that maybe the freedom she gave me to make
my own choice, pertaining riding, was not

The main reason that I have decided to research this part of the world and not look at the rest of

the data was much easier to research. Most people think of the Atlantic when they think of
hurricanes.
The first priority is to find out what exactly a hurricane is. A hurricane comes from the West Indian
word hurricane, meaning quot;big wind quot; (New
Orleans, weather). A hurricane forms in the tropics around warm water. It starts as a
disorganized storm in the ocean. When it starts to become more organized, it will be put into the
first of three classifications. The classification is tropical depression. The National Hurricane
Center will get a letter to help classify the storm. When the winds of the storm reach 40mph it
will go into the second classification, tropical depression. The service will give it a name at this
point. The name is pre determined based on a list that recycles every six years. The list of names
for the next few years are on figure one. A name will only not appear on the list if it is retired.
Finally, if the storm s wind reach
70mph, it would be classified as a hurricane. The quot;eye quot; of the hurricane is the center of the
storm. This area of the storm is calm with no clouds. Around the eye the storm goes

Social Classes Romeo and Juliet
George Edward Woodberry once said, Shakespeare is, essentially, the emanation of the
Renaissance. The overflow of his fame on the Continent in later years was but the sequel of the
flood of the Renaissance in Western Europe. He was the child of that great movement, and marks
its height as it penetrated the North with civilization ( George Edward Woodberry Quote ). The
Renaissance, as Woodberry stated within his quote, would not have been as popular if it was not
for William Shakespeare. He is a crucial part of the Renaissance. Not only did Shakespeare have an
impact on the Renaissance, social class did as well. Social Classes have been building for many
years and they made a tremendous difference during the Renaissance, to the point where the
social classes controlled society. The Renaissance was a time period of rebirth and Shakespeare
was taking advantage of that by contributing a majority of his pieces of writing, as well as his
plays. One of his most known pieces of work is Romeo and Juliet. Shakespeare uses the idea of
social classes and portrays it throughout his play, Romeo and Juliet. He generates various
characters and places them into different social ranks and standing. This impacts the play
significantly and brings a new light and perspective on Shakespeare s writing. Shakespeare also
illustrates the specific advantages each social class received during the this time period and within

hostilities for the Vietnam War. They were suspended from the school for wearing them. The

The District Court decided that the students who petitioned the Vietnam War sought nominal
damages. Also the court believed what the school did was under its constitutional authority to
prevent the disturbance of school discipline, 9258 F. Supp. 971 (1966). The case moved on to the
Court of Appeals. The case was considered en banc, which means all the appellate judges were
there to hear it. The court was equally divided on the case, so the District Courts decision was
affirmed with no opinion from the Court of Appeals, 383 F.2d 988 (1967). The court recognized the
action of the students wearing the armbands to protest the Vietnam War was protected by the Free
Speech Clause of the First Amendment. This case was so close to pure speech , which is entitled to
comprehensive protection under the First Amendment. The District Court figured that it can t be
argued that neither teachers nor students should lose their constitutional rights when at school. The
problem was that the students freedom of speech rights collide with the school authorities rules.
There was no evidence showing that the protest disrupted any classes or work of the schools. The
District Court came to their final conclusion after looking the case over again. They decided that
the action of the school authorities was reasonable because it was based upon their fear of a
disturbance from the wearing of the armbands. In no way was the school authorities trying to deny
the student s constitutional rights. Although the students were suspended from school for

Personal Narrative-Metal And Bone
Metal and Bone
It was a regular day after school and we decided to go hunt since we had no other plans. Seriously
though, what s better than going hunting? Ummm....let s see,NOTHING! So my dad asks me,
what gun are you going to use? Probably my shotgun since I won t be taking any far shots. Okay.
When my dad and I got to the edge of the corn field he said, Go to the back by the blind and I ll go
through the front and see if I can drive any deer towards you ,I ll text you if anything s coming
Okay. I got to my spot and let him know I m here and about five minutes later I get a text. Buck

thickness of the woods, I see a flash ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dad drags him into the woods and then I lay my hands on his smooth rack and then I feel his
rough hide and treasure the moment. Then Dad takes my sharp knife and field dressed it. When
I look at the deer, I ask my dad where the heart is and then he took it out and showed me. The
heart it was totally messed up! The whole thing was almost gone! I can t believe I ve shot three
deer in the heart! When we dragged the deer out, my Dad and I talked about what we re gonna do
and we finally decided to do a European skull mount. When we got home Rosco LOVED it. He
would not stop sniffing it. My Dad had to trick him with food to get him back in the house and
when he figured out he got tricked, he was upset and slept with his nose wedged in the door. A
couple months later I got my skull back and we were also going to have it dipped in camo. But
while we were at our grandparents, the thinkable happens... ROSCO. After we came back from
our grandparents I was walking to the kitchen when I looked in the den and saw a thousand chips
and chunks from the skull. Rosco ate and chewed most of the skull except for the area around the
rack. Rosco got in so much trouble! We almost got rid of Rosco that night because he s torn up so
many shoes, backpacks, rugs and expensive things. I personally think Rosco won a billion dollar
lottery that night when we decided to keep

Macbeth Good Vs Evil
Today, I will be talking about the good vs. evil throughout the play. Some characters play the good
role in the play and some characters play the bad role in the play. There are three main points
dealing with good vs. evil in the play. Macbeth is trying to become King of the Thane. The witches
predicted that Macbethshould kill Duncan. In the play what happen to Duncan? Macbeth is one of
the confused characters in this play. One day Macbeth decided that he wanted to become King of
the Thane. The real King of the Thane IS Duncan. Duncan is very great at what he do. Becoming
king means that you have to step up to the plate, and have the power to keep everything under
control. Macbeth met three witches. They told Macbeth that it

Reflection Paper On Narcissism
Reading this week s articles became all too personal for me as I began to reflect on the book that
I am writing in which the protagonist is a narcissist. When telling people about my book most
people cannot get past the fact that the protagonist is my mother, but her narcissistic personality
is what created the storyline for my entire text. She has many of the classic attributes of a
narcissist, my favorite (from a writer s perspective) is her immense lack of empathy. It is
extremely incredible that what little empathy she can find she can control based on who she is
with and what the specific circumstances are. While the book may shed light on some of the
negative things she has done in her past or the negative behaviors associated with her narcissismI
have been sure to include an entire chapter detailing my belief that narcissism should be considered
an objective personality type. Narcissism has an enormous amount of negative connotation
surrounding it which is ironic to be because there are positive attributes some of which many of us
share.
The article mentioned, Most of us have elements of all three, when referring to the three main
personality types of erotics, obsessives, and narcissists (Maccoby). I agree with Maccoby which
is why I think it is important that we continue to find a place in the workplace for those who are
narcissistic and abrasive because even though we may not agree with their style we must
welcome diversity in order to avoid groupthink. I think that ensuring a well balanced mix of
personalities in a workplace can boost production and allow leaders to rise from the shadows of
abrasive and narcissistic leaders who may have overstayed their welcome. Another benefit to
maintaining the abrasive personality in the workplace is to encourage the high achiever in the
room who may have the leadership skills to take over a conversation and just need the right
opportunity to do so. If a high achiever gets fed up with another s behavior it may serve as a
catalyst for his/her management of the group.
If an abrasive worker is also a brilliant one, then we must give him/her a chance to find success
within the organization. If one allows his/her personality to get in the way of success,

Three Factors Of Self-Motivation In Bandura s Theory Of...
Human behavior, the SCT defines, as reciprocal interaction of personal factors, behavior, the
environment (Bandura, 1977; 1986; 1989 ). These three factors, according to the SCT s theory,
determine an individual s behavior. Through cognitive processes, it is considered that the behavior
is regulated and the SCT determines the behaviorist thoughts that response consequences mediate
behavior. Eventually, to decide expectations of behavioral results, the response consequence of a
behavior is used. The individual, from the expectations, is able to assume the outcome of the
behavior before an action is performed. The SCT is in a situation to decide that maximum behavior
is learned strongly.
The mind is an active force, the SCT explains, that creates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

An individual s self efficacy is from his physiological state (such as emotional arousal,
nervousness, or anxiety) while performing a behavior. As a result, from observing successes and
failures of others, persuasion, history of achievement in a particular field, he develops self
efficacy (Bandura, 1977). Comparisons, particularly among peers and siblings, on one s
performances to the others performance also serve as a strong basis

Jonathan Larson Essay
Jonathan Larson
January 21. The time is around 6:45 pm. Writer, composer Jonathan
Larson was sitting in the very last few rows listening as cast he had chosen for his quot;about to be
quot; Broadway musical, quot;Rent quot; went through one of the final dress rehearsals in The
New York Theater Workshop. He and the Director of quot;Rent quot;
Michael Grief began to sing one of the songs form the show when Larson began to feel a pain in
his chest. The pain worsened. Larson (being the compulsive worrier and hypochondriac close
friends and relatives knew him as) turned to an actor and said, quot; You better call 911. Think I m
having a heart attack. quot;
Lagon was rushed to the Emergency Room of New York s Cabrini Medical
Center. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Evening. Brian Carmody found his roommate in bed, short of breath and mumbling in a low voice.
The only food he could seemingly stomach was Jell O and some tapioca pudding.
January 23. Afternoon. Jonathan called his father in Albuquerque complaining of chest and lower
back pains and a small degree temperature. His father felt it was nothing serious.
Evening. His condition worsens. The chest pains are again excruciating.
He decides to return to the hospital. Carmody again a member of the staff says the hospital could
not attain the records form Larson s visit two days earlier.
Instead, he is taken by way of cab to St. Vincent s, a closer hospital. When he arrived, Larson
rated his pain as being seven out of a possible 10. A nurse classified his case as quot;urgent quot;.
After some examination, he was told this was no more than a virus (due to flu like symptoms) and
it would pass.
January 25. It has been a long, hard, nerve racking day for Larson. He has just returned to his
downtown Manhattan apartment on Greenwich Avenue from the final dress rehearsal before the
preview of his On Broadway musical quot;Rent quot;.
Perhaps he was trying to relax with some nice, hot tea, or perhaps it was just to heat up some
remedy he had picked up from a stage hand in passing through the cloud of hectic activity which
consumed him that day. Larson collapsed there, in front of the stove that day, dead, and was later
discovered by Mr. Carmody.
Dead. After six years

Compare And Contrast The Philosopher s Stone And The...
The Philosopher s Stone vs. The Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Arguably, the most intriguing part of the series is that though the plot is constantly changing, the
feeling the audience gets from each film is the same. Consequently, the series needed some sort of
closure that showed the evolution of the series in a visually, cinematic way. This is why the eighth
film being a refined reflection of the first film is understandable and may actually have been
needed to bring the series full circle.
Nearly each aspect of the eighth film resembles a moment in the first film, but carries a matured
and sometimes opposing purpose in comparison. (See Figure 9A, B) This comparative analysis
will be comprehensive rather than scene specific because the parallels deal with Classic
cinematography that doesn t require extensive explanation and can easily be seen in the in text
screenshots of the films. Instead, the analysis will be more about how the cinematic parallels have
evolved in the final film and how the distinction between first and last demonstrates why they are
opposites.
Simply put, Columbus was welcoming us into the world and Yates was helping us say goodbye.
This ode to firsts and lasts is initially seen in the opening credits typeface where the first film has a
storybook gold font and the last film has a font with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Interestingly, Harry is dressed in grey while Ron and Hermione are in the shades of red that
have come to represent Good as if to say that Harry s always been surrounded by goodness .
Everything in the series has led up to this moment and it ends with a simple tribute to friendship.
The scene finishes with the famous line of three linked together by their hands. The silence is
tender and peaceful and the music that follows has the storybook quality like the first film. (See

Culture Of The Philippines
Culture is the shared patterns of behaviors and interactions, cognitive constructs, and affective
understanding that is learned through a process of socialization. These shared patterns, identify the
members of a culture group while also distinguishing those of another group. Five major
characteristics of a Philippine culture include family, beliefs, customs, food, and language. In this
essay geography and military conflict history, weather analysis, and civil considerations will be
discussed. I will also cover how the terrain and infrastructure, communication, and past military
conflicts impacted their society. Population, agriculture, smuggling, and insurgency effected by the
weather. How areas, structures, capabilities, organizations, people and events affect the civilian
populace. Lastly about the society, social structure, culture, language, power and authority, and
interests of the Philippines. The geography and past conflicts of the Philippines have drastically
shaped the socio culture of the Philippines. Being an archipelagoof 7,107 islands, it has caught the
interests of the Spanish and Japanese. The Spanish American War of 1898 and the also during
World War II when the Japanese invaded the Philippines. With the number of islands the Philippines
have, the navies played a significant role in the invasions. The Philippine archipelago has more than
1,490 ports that serve to connect its major islands. The transport infrastructure includes 306 miles of

  • 2. Eye Of The Sea Research Paper Glistening water, beautiful coral composed of your friendly neighbourhood porifera, but what lays beyond the cliff of coral into deep, dark waters? PhD student, Erika Raymond, and her PhD advisor, Edith Widder sent the Eye of the Sea to the Bahamas to observe the unknown waters. A variety of other scientists came up with their own understandings of deep sea life and how they differ from the creatures above the waters. One of the characteristics that caught the attention of scientists were the animals enlarged eyes that adapted to see bioluminescent materials. Scientists can use this information to improve their technology to help them find and observe in the lab or at least unobtrusively through a camera deep sea creatures natural ways of living. Scientists are interested in how the different deep sea species have evolved since the Mesozoic era with very minimal interactions with humans or man made objects. However, their habitats are too dangerous for humans; I suspect there would not have been as much evolution as seen in land animals, considering the fact that in 2004, Raymond and Widder had spotted a 2 metre squid using Eye of the Sea. Could there be other organisms that retain their size from the dinosaur ages just because there wasn t much of a reason for them to evolve?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Scientists were dumbfounded when they discovered that deep sea fish can detect light outside of the blue green range (short wavelengths of blue green light can travel to farther depths underwater, where you would be able to detect bioluminescence). With further observations, they found that a species of bottom dwelling crabs can even detect UV light. In other animals, like the dragonfish, their searchlights have fluorescent proteins that shift the bluish bioluminescence to the red ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In years prior to World War II Canada s ethnic homegenetity was made up of mostly the British and French, although Canada was previously inhabited by Natives. However, people began a migration process that saw increased movement of people from one place to another through the world. Canada, being one of the classical migration countries began to pull immigrants at one period, then a push occurred after the world war that saw emigration out of Canada. This was followed by another period of pull factors that saw an expansion in the makeup of Canada s ethnic population. According to Beaujot (2003) these push and pull factors are based on immigrant social and life course choices. The following are some of the ways that migration have influenced the ethnic... Reitz (2014) illustrated that about 80% of the of immigrants prior to 1961 was European the remaining population was non white. However, the periods following 1961 to 2001 saw a decline in the ethnic makeup as some of the Europeans and Americans began to immigrate back to their country of origin. The European Canadian population began to decline, possibly because of the rise in demand of skilled labor in Europe, as well as the economic success that raised demand for skilled labor for the U.S. In the mid 1900 s Canada began to experience an increase in out migration mainly to the U.S. and Europe. Is this an example of a potential confounding factor? A confounding factor is an important difference between the two groups you are comparing, other then the one you re primarily interested in. With regards to this question, there would most likely be two groups involved in the experimental study: the control group and the treatment group. • 10. Voting Vs Evms Voting is one of the single most important rights that an American citizen can take advantage of. However, the method of how a voter should cast their ballots has become a topic of controversy in recent years. For centuries, voting polls across the world have relied on simple paper ballots to reach a conclusive result; but, with the introduction of much more efficient electronic voting machines, or EVMs , the question has risen... Which voting systemis superior? In my opinion, EVMs are the superior method of casting a ballot and there are several reasons why I say so. EVMs are simply more efficient than paper ballots. When a vote occurs, every citizen s ballot is stored in the machine s memory then digitally transferred to a single location to be tallied up. With paper ballots, each slip of paper must be carefully stored and counted... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many citizens believe that voters should stick to the orthodox method of casting paper ballots and not implement these new EVMs. Their primary reasoning behind this thinking is the fear of having an EVM hacked and their votes tampered with. With any electronic machine it is a valid arguement to be afraid of recording private information on it due to the ever present threat of hacking. However, according to the passage, EVMs are not connected to the internet nor are they easily tampered with due to the recording of every action during the voting process. In the opposing passage it states that a magazine published an article in which the writer explaines how he was able to tamper with votes on EVMs. I believe this to be a unreliable source of information because tampering with votes is a very severe federal crime that I doubt anyone would publically admit to commiting. So while I can understand where the fear of EMVs is coming from, I seriously doubt that the confidentiality of ballots is at risk with these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the decades following the Mexican American War (1850s), US farmers and agricultural workers came to dominate US Mexican trade across this Texas river border. Shortly after their rise, these merchants became quite wealthy and bought large areas of land in Texas and became more powerful than the Mexican settlers on both sides of the border. This created an economic conflict that is still present today. Sontag sets many insights that still exist in today s photographic society, but it has been modernized into our generation of photographic technology. The book took place during Civil War times and went into good detail on what happened during the battles at Gettysburg. The first quote that I found interesting was from the Union Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain. The fact of slavery upon this incredibly beautiful new clean earth was appalling, but more even than that was the horror of old Europe, the curse of nobility, which the South was transplanting to new soil (Shaara 27). This quote was significant because it described the feelings of the average Union soldier towards slavery. The Union fought to end slavery because as shown by people like Chamberlain, they believed that slavery was against a man s good nature and did not want it to effect the new land of the United States. The second quote that I found significant was another quote from Chamberlain on how he describes a young black man who was injured from escaping his slave master. The man was really very black. • 18. Fame and Glory in Dante s Divine Comedy Essay What is fame? Fame is but a slow decay Even this shall pass away. Theodore Tilton The Divine Comedy, by Dante Alighieri, is a poem laden with such Christian themes as love, the search for happiness, and the desire to see God. Among these Christian themes, however, is Dante s obsession with and desire for fame, which seems to be a surprising departure from conventional medieval Christian morality. Indeed, as the poem progresses, a striking contradiction emerges. Dantethe writer, in keeping with Christian doctrine, presents the desire for fame and glory among the soulsof Inferno in order to replace it with humility among the souls of Purgatorio. Yet this purification of desire is not entirely embraced by Dante,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To which Pier replies, Your sweet speech draws me so that I cannot be still (Inferno, Canto XIII, Lines 55 56). Even Dante is spurred on by promises of fame while in Inferno. During the difficult ascent to the seventh pouch in the eighth circle, Virgil emphasizes the importance of fame to urge Dante to persevere. He says, Now you must cast aside your laziness, for he who rests on down or under covers cannot come to fame (Inferno, Canto XXIV, Lines 46 47). Indeed the willingness to be bribed by earthly fame is an aspect unique to those souls in hell. As Dante travels towards God and towards perfection, through Purgatory and finally through Paradise, he will find that the bargaining power of earthly fame is markedly diminished as souls become less and less interested in and motivated by fame. As Dante continues to Purgatorio the theme of humility starts to overshadow that of fame and glory, especially in Dante s encounter with Oderisi, Guido Guinizzelli and Statius. In Canto XI, Dante meets Oderisi, a respected artist. After Dante praises him, Oderisi quickly points out that Franco Bolognese is now more famous: Brother, the pages painted by the brush of Franco Bolognese smile more brightly: all the glory now is his; mine, but a part (Purgatorio, Canto XI, Lines 82 85). • 19. Analysis Of Philippa Gregory s Three Sisters Three... Three Sisters, Three Queens, a historical fiction novel written by Philippa Gregory, takes place in 16th century Europe, an era characterized by powerful monarchs whose personal and political life are incredibly complex and intertwined. In particular, this story focuses on three women who will become the queens of Scotland, France, and England, respectively: Margaret, her sister, Mary, and their sister in law, Katherine of Aragon. The story is told from Margaret s point of view, who provides a unique yet often disregarded female perspective of this era intended to demonstrate that these ruling women are just as important to history as their male counterparts, namely Henry VIII and James IV. The novel is centered around two types of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It would spoil everything if Mary s is French cut or more richly embroidered, or more fashionable (293 294). Her superficial nature and blatant sense of entitlement resulting from her privileged upbringing becomes almost comical, especially as she is so heavily concerned with her possessions even while her country is engulfed in both civil war and war with England. Nevertheless, Margaret still does mature with age, as she and her sisters come to realize that they should be working together rather than separately: We spent our time admiring and envying each other and we should have been guiding and protecting each other (544). Ironically, on that very same page Margaret expresses delight over her sisters misfortunes: I am in a better place than both my sisters. I cling to this little joy, as stubborn as when we were girls jockeying for supremacy (544). Margaret s fickle nature embodies her time period, where many of the monarchs share similar competitive desires and betrayal is commonplace. On an even grander scale, Gregory highlights a natural human flaw and defies the idea of a perfect protagonist. Even though Margaret changes for the better, a little part of her young and selfish self will always remain within her. Margaret is not always a likable character, but she is certainly a relatable one, whose experiences to achieve power and happiness teach her that she should have confidence in herself and her sisters to defy gender norms ... Ethnicity plays a big role in this movie because it is the reason that the Jews are locked away in the concentration camps. The movie is a representation of Political Power becomes Personal Authority (Nichols, 2010, P.275) in the sense that Aldorf Hitler took advantage of the vulnerable Jews. This essay will discuss the differences between the Jews and Germans during WW II through race and ethnicity. This will be supported from examples in the two scenes chosen, book vocabulary, as well as the formal and social content to analyze the scenes. The movie The boy in the Striped Pajamas: is about an 8 year old, privileged German boy named Bruno, who loves exploring, is forced to move away from Berlin with his family to the Countryside during World War II. Different than a motif, the theme of bravery actually takes form in Shakespeare s play and develops the play itself. A denotative definition from the 15th century, according to the Merriam Webster Collegiate Dictionary (10 ed.), portrays brave as meaning, [from Old Italian and Spanish, meaning courageous, wild; probably from Latin, meaning barbarous]. The discovery of unknown bacteria is very useful in the pharmaceutical industry, as most of the products prepared are made based on these unknown organisms. The biochemical tests used to identify the unknown bacteria included: phenol red broth test (glucose, lactose, and sucrose), methyl red and Voges Proskauer test, citrate test, indole test, H2S production test, urea test and motility test. The PR broths are used to differentiate members of Enterobacteriaceae and to distinguish these members from other gram negative rods. The PR broths are useful in determining a bacterium s fermentation abilities. If the bacterium is able to utilize the carbohydrate, then the acid production from fermentation lowers pH, which in turn turns the broth yellow. However, if the bacterium is unable to utilize the carbohydrate, but does utilize the peptone, which produces the by product ammonia, the medium will have a rise in pH turning the broth pink. Social Classes Romeo And Juliet Ms. Groff World Literature 3 March, 2016 Social Classes Romeo and Juliet George Edward Woodberry once said, Shakespeare is, essentially, the emanation of the Renaissance. The overflow of his fame on the Continent in later years was but the sequel of the flood of the Renaissance in Western Europe. He was the child of that great movement, and marks its height as it penetrated the North with civilization ( George Edward Woodberry Quote ). The Renaissance, as Woodberry stated within his quote, would not have been as popular if it was not for William Shakespeare. He is a crucial part of the Renaissance. Not only did Shakespeare have an impact on the Renaissance, social class did as well. Social Classes have been building for many years and they made a tremendous difference during the Renaissance, to the point where the social classes controlled society. The Renaissance was a time period of rebirth and Shakespeare was taking advantage of that by contributing a majority of his pieces of writing, as well as his plays. The District Court decided that the students who petitioned the Vietnam War sought nominal damages. Also the court believed what the school did was under its constitutional authority to prevent the disturbance of school discipline, 9258 F. Supp. 971 (1966). The case moved on to the Court of Appeals. The case was considered en banc, which means all the appellate judges were there to hear it. The court was equally divided on the case, so the District Courts decision was affirmed with no opinion from the Court of Appeals, 383 F.2d 988 (1967). The court recognized the action of the students wearing the armbands to protest the Vietnam War was protected by the Free Speech Clause of the First Amendment. This case was so close to pure speech , which is entitled to comprehensive protection under the First Amendment. The District Court figured that it can t be argued that neither teachers nor students should lose their constitutional rights when at school. The problem was that the students freedom of speech rights collide with the school authorities rules. There was no evidence showing that the protest disrupted any classes or work of the schools. The District Court came to their final conclusion after looking the case over again. They decided that the action of the school authorities was reasonable because it was based upon their fear of a disturbance from the wearing of the armbands. • 43. Reflection Paper On Narcissism Reading this week s articles became all too personal for me as I began to reflect on the book that I am writing in which the protagonist is a narcissist. When telling people about my book most people cannot get past the fact that the protagonist is my mother, but her narcissistic personality is what created the storyline for my entire text. She has many of the classic attributes of a narcissist, my favorite (from a writer s perspective) is her immense lack of empathy. It is extremely incredible that what little empathy she can find she can control based on who she is with and what the specific circumstances are. While the book may shed light on some of the negative things she has done in her past or the negative behaviors associated with her narcissismI have been sure to include an entire chapter detailing my belief that narcissism should be considered an objective personality type. Narcissism has an enormous amount of negative connotation surrounding it which is ironic to be because there are positive attributes some of which many of us share. The article mentioned, Most of us have elements of all three, when referring to the three main personality types of erotics, obsessives, and narcissists (Maccoby). I agree with Maccoby which is why I think it is important that we continue to find a place in the workplace for those who are narcissistic and abrasive because even though we may not agree with their style we must welcome diversity in order to avoid groupthink. I think that ensuring a well balanced mix of personalities in a workplace can boost production and allow leaders to rise from the shadows of abrasive and narcissistic leaders who may have overstayed their welcome. Another benefit to maintaining the abrasive personality in the workplace is to encourage the high achiever in the room who may have the leadership skills to take over a conversation and just need the right opportunity to do so. If a high achiever gets fed up with another s behavior it may serve as a catalyst for his/her management of the group. If an abrasive worker is also a brilliant one, then we must give him/her a chance to find success within the organization. If one allows his/her personality to get in the way of success, ... • 44. Three Factors Of Self-Motivation In Bandura s Theory Of... Human behavior, the SCT defines, as reciprocal interaction of personal factors, behavior, the environment (Bandura, 1977; 1986; 1989 ). These three factors, according to the SCT s theory, determine an individual s behavior. Through cognitive processes, it is considered that the behavior is regulated and the SCT determines the behaviorist thoughts that response consequences mediate behavior. Eventually, to decide expectations of behavioral results, the response consequence of a behavior is used. The individual, from the expectations, is able to assume the outcome of the behavior before an action is performed. The SCT is in a situation to decide that maximum behavior is learned strongly. • 46. Compare And Contrast The Philosopher s Stone And The... The Philosopher s Stone vs. The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 Arguably, the most intriguing part of the series is that though the plot is constantly changing, the feeling the audience gets from each film is the same. Consequently, the series needed some sort of closure that showed the evolution of the series in a visually, cinematic way. This is why the eighth film being a refined reflection of the first film is understandable and may actually have been needed to bring the series full circle. Nearly each aspect of the eighth film resembles a moment in the first film, but carries a matured and sometimes opposing purpose in comparison. (See Figure 9A, B) This comparative analysis will be comprehensive rather than scene specific because the parallels deal with Classic cinematography that doesn t require extensive explanation and can easily be seen in the in text screenshots of the films. Instead, the analysis will be more about how the cinematic parallels have evolved in the final film and how the distinction between first and last demonstrates why they are opposites. Simply put, Columbus was welcoming us into the world and Yates was helping us say goodbye.
