American Revolution Social Changes
The American Revolution was the point of change in the world. It was the first time that a democratic
government was developed and tested in a time where monarchies ruled Europe and it was the time
when the world saw that the concept of democracy could lead to the fundamental change in society,
specifically politically, socially, and economically. However, even though it was the point in change
for the world, to what extent did it change American society politically, socially, and economically in
the period between 1775 1800? The answer is that political, social, and economic effects of the
American Revolution impacted society to different extents and established ideas that would later
influence future movements and changes in America.
First, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Primarily, the Declaration was the main source of inspiration for social change towards women. The
very structure of the Declaration and the very language of it saying that all men are created equal led
to future movements for women s rights. For example, although 50 years out of the given time period,
the Seneca Falls Convention was the first major event in US history where women s rights were
presented and stood up for by using the Declaration for a basis of argument (those at the convention
rewrote the Declaration but wherever the word men was they replaced it with men and women ).
Arguments for the basis of women s rights also came from within the given time period as shown by
the drawing of a Patriot Woman holding a musket standing outside of a fort that has the English flag
waving on it signifying the belief that women can fight for their country just as well as men can [Doc.
A]. In addition, women of the time period expressed their displeasure at their lack of rights as Molly
Wallace says what then must my situation be, when my sex, my youth and inexperience all conspire to
make tremble at the task at which I have undertaken? in reference to women s inability to gain an
education. Therefore by the arguments presented, one can see that the American Revolution era was
the starting point in which ideas for social change, especially towards women s equality, was the
inspiration for future events and changes in American

Analysis Of The Novel Adirondack Sundown
Alexis O Dell
Mr. Mucilli/Mr. Simonds
24 October 2017 Adirondack Sundown Essay
Assignment
The Adirondack Park is a significant location in the novel Adirondack Sundown. Graham Scott and
Sarah Waters were picnicking one day at Rockwood State Forest when Graham suddenly had to go
back to work, Sarah stayed behind to take pictures of the scenery and then, she was abducted. Many
places in the Adirondacks are very significant to the story. Some places in the Adirondack Park that
are in the novel are Kane Mountain, Rockwood State Forest and Old Forge.
South of the Adirondack Park is where Kane Mountain is located. Kane Mountain was formed by
glaciers during the ice age. The mountain is between several lakes, including Pine Lake and Canada
Lake. The hike to the top of Kane Mountain is moderate in difficulty. There are many trails that exist.
The most commonly used trail is the East trail departing from Green Lake Road.
Kane Mountain plays a significant role in the novel because a character named Kane Johnson, who
abducted Sarah, and his sister Caroga lived here. The Kane Mountain Observation Station played a
huge role in the novel also.
The Kane Mountain Fire Observation Station is a historic location on Kane Mountain at Caroga Lake
in Fulton County, New York. The station includes a 60 foot tall, steel frame lookout tower erected in
1925, an observer s cabin built about 1960, and foot trail. The tower and trail are contributing
resources. The tower is a prefabricated structure built by the Aermotor Corporation and provided a
front line of defense in preserving the Adirondack Forest Preserve from the hazards of forest fires. It
was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.
The 858 acre Rockwood State Forest is located in Fulton County just south of the Adirondack Blue
Line between NY 29, NY 10A and NY 10. There are nearly five miles of old roads that are used for
cross country skiing in the winter as well as hiking the rest of the year. The main feature of this state
forest is the scenic Rockwood Lake, located off the North Loop Road Trail. The state land is used for
water quality protection, recreation, wildlife habitat and timber production. Some characteristics of
Rockwood would include, Hiking,

Economic Prosperity During The Soviet Union
Economic prosperity was seen between the years of 1965 and 1985, however the division between
Eastern and Western Europe still remained. Also, the disparities in prosperity remained as well. One of
the countries that seen major political developments was the Soviet Union. The years of change
seemed rather unlikely between 1964 and 1982 as Leonid Brezhnev became the man in charge. As his
slogan was no experimentation he became the head of the state and the communist party in 1964.
Even though he was optimistic and calm, the Brezhnev Doctrine, which stated that the Soviet Union
had the right to intervene if socialism was a threatened in another state, led to Soviet Union troops
being deployed in Czechoslovakia in 1968. The détente allowed ... Show more content on

Another problem for the Soviet s was that a series of droughts, heavy rains, and early frosts forced the
Soviet s to buy grains from the West, particularly the United States. Nonetheless, by the 1970s, a
ruling system that depended on patronage as a major avenue of advancement was created by the
Soviet s. Ten years later the system did not work as a declining economy led to an increase in
mortality rates, a surge in alcoholism, and a deterioration in working conditions. Within the
Communist Party there was a group of individuals who understood the real condition of the Soviet
Union. Yuri Andropov was a member of this group who understood the condition of the Soviet Union,
however with his deteriorating health, party leaders chose Gorbachev as the Party Secretary in 1985.
His appointing of Gorbachev, allowed for a new era to begin.
Another country that seen major political developments was the Eastern Europe. The attempt for the
Poles and the Hungarians to gain freedom from Soviet domination in 1956 only seen problems. As
Moscow could maintain control over its satellites in Eastern Europe by granting them leeway to adopt
domestic policies appropriate to these conditions, the Soviet leaders began to recognize this fact. To
make socialism more acceptable to their subject populations, as a result Eastern European Communist
leaders adopted reform programs. Continued

The Effects Of Chernobyl Accident And Small Modular Reactors
There were incidents in the past with nuclear reactors that caused disastrous problems for the civilians
and the environment. As explained before with the Chernobyl accident and the Fukushima incident,
nuclear plants can be terrifying when there are accidents or natural disasters. With Small Modular
Reactors that can bring down the chances of accidents happen and if something unfortunate were to
happen it would be much more easily controlled. With the Chernobyl accident, the reason why there
was a problem was because of human error. The operating team in charge of the Chernobyl Plant did
not take all the safety precautions in running the plant so when something went wrong, they failed to
control the problem and it got out of hand and cause

A Christian View Of The Bible
I believe in a Liberal Evangelical view in terms of the authority of scripture. I am Evangelical in that I
believe that the bible is infallible in all that is trying to affirm, and that the central narrative can be
relatable, and inspiring to every person, and every people group around the world. This is because the
Holy Spirit is involved in this process from both the compositional, and readability aspect. I am liberal
in that I cannot affirm that the bible is the only written work of God. I can only affirm that is the only
fully infallible written scriptural work. The issues of psuedonymity, the Synoptic Problem, Genesis 1
11, and the rewritten Bible have all been noticed as problematic areas for one s hermeneutic. This
paper will largely be a presentation of my hermeneutical implications through these issues.
I do not believe the issue of psuedonymity to be a problematic area for what I believe in terms of the
inspiration of scripture. The authors of these epistles can still be inspired even though they may not be
apostles. They may have learned under an apostle, and may therefore be able to write using their name
because they can respond in a way that the apostle himself would. Also, by writing as apostles, the
credibility of these authors instantly becomes more authoritative to the first century audience. Lastly,
these books went through the intensive canonization process that all of the new testament books went
through, which is further proof of their inspiration.

Columbus Day and Christopher Columbus Essay
In fourteen hundred ninety two, Columbus sailed the ocean blue , starts the beginning of one of history
s biggest fabrications. We teach our children to be honest and truthful, but then lie to them for the first
six to eight years of their educational lives about their own history. For in fact, Columbus did not
discover America and did not unveil the myth regarding the world being flat. At the moment, I have
yet to discover if Christopher Columbus ever discovered anything at all. Knowing the meaning of
discovery, the land that Columbus reached from his voyage and the unorthodox events that occurred
after Columbus adventure; I do not celebrate Columbus Day. I enjoy the day off from work, as do
most Americans that observe the day; but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The enslavement of Native Americans and Africans were also products of this great discovery which
consequently led to millions being immolated. Celebrating such an affair mocks the deaths of those
who died from the greed of English settlers and the kings and queens who sponsored them. Must we
turn a blind eye to the harsh reality that our ancestors were wrong? Even though much was conquered
from this monstrosity, it makes it no more right now than then, and is no cause for celebration.
Finally, the most apparent and vital reason as to why Columbus Day should not be an American
national holiday is very simple. His voyage did not bring him to the lands of America. Columbus
landed in the Caribbean. This is a fact and is acknowledged by historians and analysis from around the
world. Columbus did not land in America; therefore, Americans have no allegiance to commemorate
him for our founding. Whether his expedition led to the colonization of America is to be argued, but
there is no doubt that he, himself, did not set foot on American soil. I ve read many books and articles
trying to find where he even visited America in his time. I have yet to discover any documented
evidence that supports him being placed in any of the American states. Arbitrarily, I do not recognize
him for discovering America; neither do I celebrate the date

Similarities Between Letters To Alice And Fay Weldon
Education has been a complex concept and remains a relevant notion in texts across time.
Women were encouraged to pursue an education in both the regency period and the 20th century. But
the type of education encouraged for women in the regency period differs substantially from the kind
offered in the 20th century as they were shaped through the respective contexts of their surroundings.
This is evident when comparing Jane Austen s 1813 Regency social satire Pride and Prejudice, and
Fay Weldon s 1984 postmodern epistolary work, Letters to Alice, as both texts manifest how changes
in their social context have resulted in the altered position of the type of education encouraged for
women, through the inclusion of different language features, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

encouraged for women in the regency period. Under these trees there are symbols of music, art, dance
and modern languages hanging off their branches to symbolise the acquired education that regency
females received from their nourishment. The page on the right hand side highlights trees and fertile
seeds growing with an invisible force from the sky to indicate that the spectrum for education towards
women is not constricted. This indicates that females were encouraged to participate in all the various
types of education. Subsequently, the trees produce different symbols of education, such as books,
universities and career pathways. In between these two types of trees there is a line which separates
these two to represent that although females from both periods were encouraged towards education,
both differ in the type of education they were encouraged as a result of their context. Thus, as a result
of their context the items in which these trees grow are

Uniform Trade Secret Case
1) Calculating the price of winning bidder must pay. Would you seek patent protection, trade secret
protection, or both? What problems might you face in attempting to secure patent or trade secret
rights, and what advantage.
Trade secret regulation, unlike patent, copyright, and trademark law is an existence of state common
law, progressively regularized by adoption of the Uniform Trade Secret Act by state legislatures and
enactment by the Congress of the Electronic Theft (Riley, 2008). There is likely for competitive
advantage when someone has discovered or developed an original product or business process, but
innovation is not an independent requirement. Likewise, proof of asset in development of a trade

misappropriated trade secrets, which they were using in their own products, and that they had violated

the infringing software program.
4) Washington applies and that Washington has adopted the UTSA without modification, present an
argument that the competitor should be liable for trade secret misappropriation.
A trade secret loses its secret status if a competitor of the owner knows about it. Thus, the public as a
whole need not know about trade secret for it to cease being secret. For instance, if Coca Cola formula
is known to its competitors, the formula would lose its secret under the law, even if the competitor did
not disclose it to the public at large.
A person who engages in criminal conduct in order to take a trade secret will be found to have
engaged in improper means. For example, fraud, trespass, theft, bribery, and breaking and entering
building (Bundy et al, 2008). By the same symbol, the fact that trade secret misappropriation is a
crime in a given state does not mean that a defendant s improper means need constitute criminal

Four Chinese Inventions
Located in East Asia, China has been around for over 5,000 years and is known as one of the four
ancient civilizations. As China developed into a great nation, the government began to form dynasties
in which China is ruled by a specific emperor. The first dynasty to have an emperor was the Qin
Dynasty, established by Shi Huang Di. This notorious name was self proclaimed by him and literally
translates into the First Emperor of China. At the end of the Qin Dynasty, Shi Huang Di was
overthrown and China became conquered by another. Furthermore, these events spawned a new
dynasty called the Han Dynasty, which ultimately fell and created the opportunity for another dynasty
and so on. This incessant succession in governing Ancient China continued ... Show more content on

Likewise, China produced inventions that contributed to not only their culture, but the vast world of
our past and present. Particularly, The Four Great Inventions have made a tremendous impact on our
society as humans. These are the inventions of: Papermaking, Printing, Gunpowder, and the Compass,
developed during the Song and Yuan Dynasties. Starting with the art of papermaking, this process
created a writing surface other than bones, silk, or bamboo. Using plant fibers, Cai Lun of the Eastern
Han created a lightweight and smooth textured piece of paper as opposed to heavy, rough bones or
expensive silk. Then, Bi Shang of the Northern Song Dynasty invented movable type printing, which
was later updated and succeeded by Europe. By applying baked clay in which text could be composed,
Shang could print the frame onto paper. Therefore, paper and printing were used as expected: creating
a source of entertainment in books, information on news, producing art, and more. Progressively, the
compass was conceived shortly afterwards. The initial compass had a magnetic rod among a bronze
case with twenty four directions etched into it and was used until the 8th Century. Its brother
instrument used water to suspend itself and minimize movement, thus allowing long distance sea
navigation. Finally, the introduction of gunpowder had revolutionized China and the world.
Gunpowder, which is made of sulfur, charcoal, and potassium nitrate, was discovered to burn rapidly,
releasing immense volumes of gases. At first, this was used for firework displays, but was found to
also be a powerful weapon. With the advantage of gunpowder, China had become a callous adversary

The Bhopal Tragedy Of Bhopal
In the United States, the 20th century is thought of the time when the safety revolution is noted as
happening. In other parts of the world, safety has taken a backseat to other issues. The prevalence of
abundant cheap labor has resulted in a number of safety violations that have contributed to outright
disasters, causing human suffering on a scale most Americans can t imagine. One such tragedy, in
which all safety professionals should familiarize themselves on, is called the Bhopal Tragedy. The
Bhopal Tragedy is one of the greatest injustices brought on by a lack of workplace safety in the 20th

International Medical Commission visited Bhopal to assess the situation and found that as many as
50,000 other people were exposed to the poisonous gas (Goetsch, 2010, p. 7). Other sources said that
the complete death toll is much higher than what has been previously established and that many more
people are continuing to suffer the lingering effects of the gas leak to this day. Although the numbers
of people with illnesses related from the spill continue to rise, so has the long term death toll as a
result of the accident. Some figures show that in the year 2002, the number of people who have
ultimately died has risen to over 20,000 people and will continue to rise in the future (Sarangi, 2002).
The company that is most considered responsible is called Union Carbide. Though it is an American
owned company, they had a chemical plant located directly in Bhopal India, ran by a subordinate
company, Union Carbide India, Ltd. There has been speculation on the exact cause of the leak at the
chemical plant. Topics have ranged from negligence, faulty equipment, lack of safety standards, and
even so far to warrant the gas leak as an act of sabotage. Indian officials contend that signs of criminal
negligence have even been found in key

Quotes From Hedda Gabler
Hedda Gabler: Character Analysis of Hedda Tesman Hedda Tesman is the main character in Henrik
Ibsen s play, Hedda Gabler. She is mysterious, mean, and manipulative. Most of all, she is not content
with her life. Perhaps one of the most intriguing qualities about the character Hedda Tesman is the
mystery that seems to surround her. Hedda rarely explains why she takes any of the actions she does.
Readers are able to see her actions and interpret them for themselves, but there is little conclusiveness
to her motives. The audience is left wondering what led her to do one thing or another. Hedda admits
to Judge Brack that even she does not know what causes her to behave the way she does. She tells

Elvsted address her by her first name. Those wishing to please Hedda, such as Judge Brack, may do so
by using her maiden name, Gabler, though Brack frequently just calls her Mrs. Hedda. The fact that
the play is titled Hedda Gabler , and not Hedda Tesman is another powerful indicator of Hedda s
inability to accept her role as a wife, specifically George s wife (Smith). Her role as a wife is not the
only thing Hedda finds herself unable to accept, but she also cannot accept her life as it stands. Hedda
is the daughter of the esteemed General Gabler, and is accustomed to a significantly wealthier lifestyle
than she achieves through marrying George Tesman. Therefore, she cannot have all the luxuries she
once knew. George has gone into debt just to buy her the house and furnishings, though she did not
actually want the house the way he believes (Sparks). It is possible that Hedda also suffers from
jealousy that she is not a man, and is subjected to the woman s way of life (Schmoop). She desires
freedoms that can never be hers as a woman, whose duties are to simply compliment the life of her
husband. As a woman, she feels oppressed, an idea that did not gain substantial traction until the 19th
century, making Hedda decades ahead of her time (Isherwood). This could explain why she lives
vicariously through Eilert Lovborg, a man who has gained the very sort of

Max Weber And The Transactional Leadership
The transactional leadership was firstly talked and elaborated in 1947 by Max Weber and described
more in 1981 by Bernard M. Bass. It is a style of leadership that leaders provides their subordinates
with rewards or punishments. It can be called management theories. This style mainly encourages and
directs subordinates or followers by providing incentives. The power of this leadership derives from
the control, rules and regulation of companies. Particularly, managers use the transactional style.

Laissez faire: the transactional leaders give a lot of chances followers for decisions making. So,
leaders themselves give up their responsibilities and try to avoid decisions making, then organizations
tend to have unclear direction.
Implications in an organization:
They focus on the short term goals as well as standard regulation and methods. Also, the followers are

Psychological and Neurological Approaches
Introduction
It has only been recently that learning and memory were considered to be of scientific relevance. It
has developed over the years as more accurate ways of measuring these fields have come to the
surface. Aristotle, a philosopher, was of the first few to observe and write about memory. He
developed the idea of associationism which states that memory can be influenced by formations of
associations or linkages between events, sensations, or ideas, so that experiencing any of these elicits a
memory or anticipation of the other (Gluck, Mercado, Myers, 2014). There are three basic principles
of associationism which include contiguity, frequency, and similarity. Contiguity is the experience ...

It provides the physiological blueprint for the way our brain processes learning and memory. There are
two major recent advancements in technology that help us physically see how all these parts work and
function together. Structural neuroimaging is the process of creating a anatomical picture of the brain.
It can show the size and shape of the brain as well as areas of lesions or brain damage (Gluck,
Mercado, Myers, 2014). Common structural neuroimaging techniques used today are computed
tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI). While
they all work to create a 3D image of your brain, the each have their own unique image to show. The
traditional x ray only providing one image at one angle, the CT scans allow for multiple images of
slices or crosses through the body and this allows you to see the anatomical structure of the body in
three dimensional space (Gluck, Mercado, Myers, 2014). The MRI works in a similar way although it
uses magnetic waves to create electrical currents in the brain, allowing you to create an image of size
and/or shape of the brain. The newly improved MRI or the DTI measures water diffusion in the brain
tissue where several groups of axons are physically viewing the connections of the brain (Gluck,
Mercado, Myers, 2014). Functional neuroimaging has allowed researchers to view the activities and
functions in the brain and track the amount of oxygen being carried in the blood, thus allowing them
to view areas where the brain is high function or low function. Technology like the positron emission
tomography (PET) and functional magnetic imaging (fMRI) are ways in which we can psychically see
these areas of activity. The method I find most intriguing is the CT scan for it was the first of its kind
in brain imaging. Personally experiencing a CT scan in the past, it always amazes me how quick and

The Impact Of Movies And Hollywood In The 1920 s
You ain t heard nothing yet, is one of the most popular lines from the first talkie ever produced. That

beginning, in the 1920 s economic prosperity spread like wildfire in America. With that, came more

with the stocks. The hotspot for this movie epidemic was in Hollywood, California. With that being

changes and technological advancements. To begin with, some background information on movies and

stated in the introduction, with the influx of money in the American economic system, the average
person also had an influx of time on their hands. The normal solution was to spend that time on
entertainment and movies were the perfect way to do that. By the mid decade, movie attendance rose
to fifty million and only increased from then. The five main movie studios were Warner Brothers,
Paramount, MGM, RKO Radio Pictures, and 20th Century Fox (Dirks 1). Before these studios were
formed, every aspect of making movies was separated into different companies. The aspects may
include filming, editing, or distributing. With the spark of interest in movies, these five companies

Reflection About Selfishness
Everybody is bound to be selfish from time to time. Although many elements of our society may
encourage it, selfishness just hurts other people, sometimes at little to no personal gain. A selfish

Self confidence is about balance. At one extreme, we have people with low self confidence. At the
other end, we have people who may be over confident.
If you are under confident, you ll avoid taking risks and stretching yourself; and you might not try at
all. And if you re over confident, you may take on too much risk, stretch yourself beyond your
capabilities, and crash badly. You may also find that you re so optimistic that you don t try hard
enough to truly succeed.
Getting this right is a matter of having the right amount of confidence, founded in reality and on your
true ability. With the right amount of self confidence, you will take informed risks, stretch yourself
(but not beyond your abilities) and try hard.
So how self confident are you? Take our short quiz to find out how self confident you are already, and
start looking at specific strategies to improve your confidence

American Racial Diversity
One of the biggest diversity problems on Earth is the racial question. For centuries people have fought
over if one race is better than the others. The mindset on this is changing but changing slower than it
should. Racial diversity shouldn t be an issue that we still deal with. In fact, in the 1950 s UNESCO
(United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) found that race is not biologically
correct and is a myth. This was found from findings from an international panel of various scientific
groups. There has been plenty of evidence that also supports this conclusion. There has been so much
evidence to support this in fact, that the scientific idea that race doesn t exist is as true as the Earth is
round. Many people

My Favorite Vacation to the Last Frontier, Fairbanks,...
As a child, vacations were few and far between. Having three other siblings and a single parent, trips
rarely fit into the budget. As I got older, military service and my professional career allowed me to
travel to a variety of places. I have been to the east and west coasts, the Gulf of Mexico, Bermuda,
United Kingdom, Germany, and many places in between. However, my most memorable trip was to
Fairbanks, Alaska to visit my oldest brother Keith. While I was there the sun shined for approximately
twenty hours a day, the mosquitos were unlike anything I had ever experienced, and we went fishing
on the Yukon River.
During the summer months in Alaska, the sun shines for about 20 hours a day. All the daylight was

Within seconds after getting out of the truck, they were all over me. I kicked a nearby bush and
hundreds of mosquitos flew out of it. My brother and his friends acted as if it was not that bad, I guess
a person can get used to anything, but I was having one of the worst experiences of my life.
Surprisingly it was not the bite of the mosquitoes, but the menacing noise and what seemed like
impending doom. Fortunately, the mosquitoes subsided once we got out on the water. Fishing on the
Yukon River was sensational. We started with an hour and a half boat ride up stream to get to our
fishing destination. Even though it was the middle of summer the temperature on the river was cold. I
watched in amazement, as a bald eagle plucked a fish from the river. Even more incredible was the
shear sense of immenseness. We stopped at an inlet to the Yukon River, and that is where we did most
of our fishing. We were fishing for Northern Pike and in order to keep them, they had to be between
32 and 46 inches in length. It seemed like everything we caught was either under or over the legal
length, but it was still fun catching them. I was so excited about being in Alaska, on the Yukon River,
and with my brother, I did not mind releasing most of our catch. After many hours of fishing we
decided we had enough for the day. Instead of heading back to the dock to clean the fish, we filleted
the fish in the middle of the river so we did not have to get back in

The Barcelona Disputation
In the 13th century, there was much debate between Christians and Jews about the correctness of each
other s beliefs. In Barcelona in the year 1263, a disputation occurred between Jewish convert, or a
Christian, Paul Christiani and Rabbi Moses. During this time it is important to know that in Aragon,
where Barcelona is, a Christian King, James I, ruled the region. Therefore, it was quite courageous for
Rabbi Moses to visit for the disputation, even though he was promised freedom of speech by King
James. In particular, the Barcelona Disputation was focused on the Talmud and the understanding of
the Messiah. This writing will examine both a Christian account and a Jewish account of the
disputation. Firstly, in the Christian account, the author

West Memphis Three Men Research Paper
Murder begins where self defense ends. This quote from Georg Buchner can be used to describe the
tragic deaths of three little boys who were rendered defense less against their attackers. On May 5,
1993 in West Memphis, Arkansas, three young second grade boys, by the names of Christopher Byers,
Steven Branch, and Michael Moore, were brutally murdered after being beaten and hogtied by their
own shoelaces. A year later, Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin, and Jessie Misskelley were convicted and
sent to prison for this heinous crime. Even though the three men were convicted for the crime, there is
still great controversy as to who actually killed the three boys. Throughout all this controversy,
evidence, testimony, confessions, and more point towards the three men known as the West Memphis
Three , to be the real killers.
In the case of the three murdered eight year olds, West Memphis police department s investigative
work led to a numbered list of suspects. Some of the suspects were quickly ruled out while others took
a little more investigative work. In the end, the list of suspects was shortened until all who remained

Today we know that depression, anxiety and other psychological symptoms can contribute to physical
sensations and a sense of being physically unwell and we also have an understanding of
psychosomatic illness. Another important contribution was Mesmer s recognition of the unconscious,
although he did not speak of it as such. He experienced the power of the unconscious in that he
contributed to the discovery of the hypnotic state, which can be a powerful therapeutic tool in therapy.
Although he was labeled a fraud on the basis that there was no proof that he had discovered a new
physical fluid, it is an important finding just the same that his clients were cured on the basis of
suggestion. This is important in terms of how the psychological relates to the physical. Another
contribution to psychology is that Mesmer sought to be both a scientist and a practitioner, and that this
model of the dual role of a therapist is important for therapists working in psychology today. Finally,
Mesmer mentored an important figure in the history of psychology who recognized that the belief in
the efficacy of cure, desire to cure and the therapeutic relationship were fundamental factors in
successfully working with clients in therapy. These beliefs are central to the practice of clinical
psychology in our world today. There is no doubt that Mesmer is a curious figure in the history of
psychology. He contributed to

Third Person Single Vision Narrative In The Most Dangerous...
Serious, mysterious, and suspenseful; through third person single vision narration, Richard Connell
the author of The Most Dangerous Game artfully tells the tale of Rainsford, the protagonist who was
once the hunter, but is now the prey of his antagonist, General Zaroff. In the story, the General is
hunting the protagonist and despite Rainsford s best effort to kill him before he is killed, the General is
still hot on his trail. However, it can be seen as the story unfolds, how the author to chose to write in
third person single vision. For example, the pronoun he was written, which indicates third person. But,
should it be in third person single vision? Could it not be in another POV, like first person or third
person multiple vision? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondly, the current POV also has a single focus on the protagonist and his opinions about the
general, which helps to develop the theme. Richard Connell wrote The Most Dangerous Game in third
person single vision because it is the best approach to create suspense at crucial moments and develop
the underlying theme. Now some may say a first person narration would better suit the story because it
would create the comedic effect of dramatic irony, despite its serious tone and its plot of hunter turned
prey. In some aspects they are right. However, The Most Dangerous Game is a story of survival and of
possible death. A third person narrator is much more appropriate and necessary because it helps to
create the much needed suspense for the crisis, when everything is at the height of its motion. The
story is a serious tale and recounts the survival adventure of its protagonist Rainsford, as he sets traps
to kill the general and tries to avoid being killed himself. So, the narrating voice must capture such
seriousness and also create the suspense at the necessary parts of the story. The original point of view,
third person single vision, has a narrating voice who captures and develops both of these elements.
The voice seems to stand just behind ..., the

Reflection On The Process Of Bid Glass
This was my first time ever doing stained glass. My goal for this class was to learn the process of
stained glass, grow in patience, and grow in appreciation for the art. With all of the different aspects, I
feel like this goal was met. The first part of the process was cutting the glass. For this, the tools needed
was a glass/ball cutter, running pliers, grozing pliers, and (of course) your glass. Using the ball cutter,
you make a score on the glass. This should only ever be done once. After that is made, take the pliers
to break the glass. The running pliers are used for straight lines What you do is align the cut with the
line on the pliers and pinch, and the glass should break. The grozing pliers are used for non straight
cuts. For this, you take the pliers in one hand and your hand as the other and go on either side of the
score, then break or snap it upwards. Throughout this process I had a good amount of struggles. I first
struggled with figuring out how to position my hand, the amount of pressure that I should put on the
glass, and the angle to put my hand. Another struggle that I encountered was breaking off the glass
that had a curved score. Sometimes the glass wouldn t break, or other times the glass shattered . At
one point I ended up deeply cutting myself, but I went on with a makeshift band aid and got all of the
pieces cut. After all the pieces were cut, I went to the grinder and grinded them all. This didn t seem to
challenge me at all, but rather proved to

A History of the World in Sex Glasses Essay
A History of the World in Six Glasses: Summary
Beer
The discovery of beer happened around 10000 BCE. The hunter gatherers, located in the Fertile
Crescent, collected cereal grains because they could be stored for a number of months if kept dry and
safe. The storage of grains made it harder to have a nomadic lifestyle; therefore the people started
staying in one place. They would try to make water tight storage areas, however water did eventually
get into them. After the grain would get wet and the people would cook it, it turned into gruel and
when that was left sitting around for a few days it would turn into beer. Beer became important
because it was safer to drink, due to the fact that you cooked it which got rid of bacteria. In the ...

6. Beers relationship with writing is that some of the first records are receipts for the selling of beer.
The cuneiform symbol for beer had changed over the years to become more abstract. Beers
relationship with commerce is that it was used as a currency. When laborers were being paid in both
Mesopotamia and Egypt they were given a certain amount of bread and beer depending on the job.
This ties in with writing due to the fact that the people kept records of the amount that they were paid.
Beer was actually healthy due to the fact that it wouldn t be completely fermented, therefore it would
contain yeast that provided nutrients and vitamins. The Egyptians believed that it could be used with
other ingredients to cure illnesses like indigestion and constipation. It was also used as a sedative.
Wine
Wine, known as the beer of the mountains was first produced during the Neolithic period between
9000 and 4000 BCE. There were two factors in the Zagros Mountains that made the production of
wine possible; an abundance of the Eurasian grape vine, Vitis vinifera sylvestris, and cereal crops.
Grapes contain natural yeast that will convert the sugars in the juice to alcohol; that way when people
started to store grapes they would eventually turn into wine. The earliest evidence of wine came from
a jar from the village Hajji Firuz Tepe and dated back to 5400 BCE. Wine became important because
it was a main part of religion, medicine, commerce, and became a

A key premise in quality improvement is that you cannot improve a process until you fully understand
it. When improvements in quality are achieved, teams should continue to strive for further
improvements with the same problem or maybe address the other opportunities that have been
identified.
Health care improvement and high quality care requires more then the technical approach of tools and
methods, improvements often require a change in attitude and sense of ownership for the quality of
serviced provided by an organization. Many supporting factors must integrate QI into the structure and
foundation of the company, these are also known as the building blocks. Improvement also implies
that it will be implemented in a variety of settings, circumstances and various levels within an
organization. The structure has to also define how the different parts and levels of the QI program fit
together and how they will be synchronized.
Characteristics of a Successful Team There have been many researches that studied the characteristics
of a successful team over a period, Belbin s work is one of the most widely known it investigated how
different people within a team adopt different teamwork roles. In order to be successful all quality

providing the resource.
B4. Use of Collegial Resources
Collegial resources that will be used will be dependent on what is included within the action plan. The
area director of curriculum and instruction, as well as the student s former administration team will be
asked to be a part of the group. The former administration team is important to include in the
development of the action plan because they can bring in resources that have worked within their own
school with this student. They can also provide insight on what strategies may not work when
developing the plan. The area director will be an important part of the team because she will be able to
offer resources that are used in other area schools. This will allow the team to create a variety of
strategies that may not be available within the student s school.
D1. Impact of Stakeholder Input
The stakeholder input impacted the execution of the plan because it gave the team an opportunity to
know what has worked in the past and what strategies were not as effective. This allowed strategies to

science, was to achieve the maximum welfare of people while efficiently using resources. So how is
income inequality that renders many people worse off, not an issue? By not stating his opinion, he
wished to remain unbiased. However, if everyone were to keep their understanding of justice and
inequality to themselves without meaningful dialogues, no societal issue would gain attention or
action.
I felt my theoretical background required training in practical applications to conceive working
solutions to some of the most pressing problems of our time. Realizing I want to be equipped with the
tools necessary to take appropriate measures when the welfare of individuals is compromised, I knew
I should seek an education in Public Policy. With my interdisciplinary academic background, I aspire
to contribute to the field of Public Policy by bringing a transnational feminist perspective to the socio
economic policy discourse. Therefore, there is no better place for me to pursue my doctoral degree in
Public Policy than at Chicago Harris School of Public Policy.
My experiences in research and community service have molded my policy interests and prepared me
for my graduate education in policy formulation and analysis. My joint research paper on the lives of

Relationships In King Lear
William Shakespeare s King Lear is massive in scope and deals with many themes. I d like to focus on
King Lear s relationship with his daughters as it evolves throughout the play as well as the play King
Lear s themes regarding politics and politicking. The passage I think best represents the conclusion of
these themes is King Lear s conversation with Cordelia in Act 5, scene 3 where they have been taken
prisoner by the English. My conclusion from reading this passage closely is that in Shakespeare s
King Lear, King Lear s speech to Cordelia regarding their impending imprisonment builds
Shakespeare s idea of caged potential and judgement for those who politic. The first lines of this
speech, No, no, no, no! Come, let s away to prison: We two alone will sing like birds i the cage: (5.3.8
9) in response to Cordelia s question of whether they should see Goneril and Regan, give us an idea of
King Lear s mental state at this time in the play. King Lear appears to be lucid and to have largely
regained his sanity from the earlier scenes of the play once he has reunited with Cordelia. He insists
strongly, with four noes, that they should go immediately to prison. The metaphor of Lear and
Cordelia as birds in a cage implies that he and Cordelia will have lost their freedom, as a bird in a cage
loses its ability to fly. Yet, by saying that they shall sing in this cage, Lear says that they will be happy
while they have lost flight and freedom, they will have one another. King Lear

Essay about Dental Office Floor Plan
The dental office floor plan detailed above clearly and cleanly divides the dental space into 3 clear
segmented areas: non clinical (patient and administration), clinical, (dental delivery) and clinical
support (supplies, storage, and laboratory). The non clinical space has the most diverse user traffic
patterns since patients and family members, clinical, and non clinical staff may use this area. This non
clinical space should not be blended with the clinical and clinical support areas. The bottleneck areas
are the patient in take and out take or registration area of the patient reception desk. Inherently, all
dental practices have practice waste, complexity, and variation built into the dental floor plan or the
design of the practice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, the staff bathrooms should not be placed into the clinical areas but near the staff break
room located.
Practice design has direct relationship to patient flow. A common held belief in dentistry is that there
should be a separation between general dentistry and hygiene. This concept has each dental provider
working from dedicated general dentistry spaces, chairs, and setups and dental hygiene can only
perform cleanings in hygiene chairs and rooms. This forms dental departmental walls or work areas
done by dedicated function and creates a lot of walking and patient scheduling delays. The definition
of dental inefficiency and ineffectiveness is when staff members walk from the end of one hallway to
another to tell the dentist that the patient is ready for an exam or a procedure.
The concept of a favorite room to deliver care for those long, involved procedures must also be
eliminated. When all dental operatory or treatment rooms are designed and equipped identically a
provider can deliver the full spectrum of dental care in each and every room. Every dental operatory
then becomes a favorite room. This allows your front desk staff to be more flexible in scheduling both
urgent and emergent patients and for dental assistants to setup patients more quickly. Dental
operatories when appropriately dThree practice activity areas affect patient flow and they

Should Kids Compete In Extreme Sports
While some kids stay back and watch, others, like extreme sports competitors, join in and can fly down
a mountainside at 60 miles per hour. The truth is that some of these competitors are children. Children
should compete in extreme sports because their gain is greater than their risk. The thrill is not the only
thing they get out of the experience, they gain in mental health. Lauren Tarshis, the author of Should
Kids Do Extreme Sports? , tells the story of Jett,a seventh grader injured while trying to master a trick
on a skateboard.During his practice to get it right, he fell and almost died. His injury later healed and
he went back to pushing the limits. According to Tarshis, Jett s coach and father,Geoff, says that his
son has acquired grit to help him in school and avoid drugs or alcohol. Geoff says it has helped him
find passion and identity. This changes extreme sports athletes into becoming stronger on the inside.
This proves that the outcomes of extreme sports can improve kids in various ways. ... Show more

Since then, Jett has endured several injuries. Tarshis states, At this point he s had 10 concussions, five
seizures, and six broken bones, and punctured his spleen twice. Although many people can
disagree, kids consider and understand their risk of injury. They won t give up their dreams. This
shows that kids realize the risks of their dreams. Although there is a risk to the experience, there is a
great gain. Extreme sports can be helpful to any type of kid. According to Tarshis, extreme sports can
be a fun and different alternative to team sports like football or soccer. Kids can be creative while
inventing new stunts. This proves that extreme sports can positively influence kids while also giving
them a unique, independent, healthy alternative to team

  • 2. American Revolution Social Changes The American Revolution was the point of change in the world. It was the first time that a democratic government was developed and tested in a time where monarchies ruled Europe and it was the time when the world saw that the concept of democracy could lead to the fundamental change in society, specifically politically, socially, and economically. However, even though it was the point in change for the world, to what extent did it change American society politically, socially, and economically in the period between 1775 1800? The answer is that political, social, and economic effects of the American Revolution impacted society to different extents and established ideas that would later influence future movements and changes in America. First, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Primarily, the Declaration was the main source of inspiration for social change towards women. The very structure of the Declaration and the very language of it saying that all men are created equal led to future movements for women s rights. For example, although 50 years out of the given time period, the Seneca Falls Convention was the first major event in US history where women s rights were presented and stood up for by using the Declaration for a basis of argument (those at the convention rewrote the Declaration but wherever the word men was they replaced it with men and women ). Arguments for the basis of women s rights also came from within the given time period as shown by the drawing of a Patriot Woman holding a musket standing outside of a fort that has the English flag waving on it signifying the belief that women can fight for their country just as well as men can [Doc. A]. In addition, women of the time period expressed their displeasure at their lack of rights as Molly Wallace says what then must my situation be, when my sex, my youth and inexperience all conspire to make tremble at the task at which I have undertaken? in reference to women s inability to gain an education. Therefore by the arguments presented, one can see that the American Revolution era was the starting point in which ideas for social change, especially towards women s equality, was the inspiration for future events and changes in American ... Analysis Of The Novel Adirondack Sundown Alexis O Dell Mr. Mucilli/Mr. Simonds 24 October 2017 Adirondack Sundown Essay Assignment The Adirondack Park is a significant location in the novel Adirondack Sundown. Graham Scott and Sarah Waters were picnicking one day at Rockwood State Forest when Graham suddenly had to go back to work, Sarah stayed behind to take pictures of the scenery and then, she was abducted. Many places in the Adirondacks are very significant to the story. Some places in the Adirondack Park that are in the novel are Kane Mountain, Rockwood State Forest and Old Forge. South of the Adirondack Park is where Kane Mountain is located. Kane Mountain was formed by glaciers during the ice age. The mountain is between several lakes, including Pine Lake and Canada Lake. The hike to the top of Kane Mountain is moderate in difficulty. There are many trails that exist. The most commonly used trail is the East trail departing from Green Lake Road. Kane Mountain plays a significant role in the novel because a character named Kane Johnson, who abducted Sarah, and his sister Caroga lived here. The Kane Mountain Observation Station played a huge role in the novel also. The Kane Mountain Fire Observation Station is a historic location on Kane Mountain at Caroga Lake in Fulton County, New York. The station includes a 60 foot tall, steel frame lookout tower erected in 1925, an observer s cabin built about 1960, and foot trail. The tower and trail are contributing resources. The tower is a prefabricated structure built by the Aermotor Corporation and provided a front line of defense in preserving the Adirondack Forest Preserve from the hazards of forest fires. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001. The 858 acre Rockwood State Forest is located in Fulton County just south of the Adirondack Blue Line between NY 29, NY 10A and NY 10. There are nearly five miles of old roads that are used for cross country skiing in the winter as well as hiking the rest of the year. • 6. A Christian View Of The Bible I believe in a Liberal Evangelical view in terms of the authority of scripture. I am Evangelical in that I believe that the bible is infallible in all that is trying to affirm, and that the central narrative can be relatable, and inspiring to every person, and every people group around the world. This is because the Holy Spirit is involved in this process from both the compositional, and readability aspect. I am liberal in that I cannot affirm that the bible is the only written work of God. I can only affirm that is the only fully infallible written scriptural work. The issues of psuedonymity, the Synoptic Problem, Genesis 1 11, and the rewritten Bible have all been noticed as problematic areas for one s hermeneutic. This paper will largely be a presentation of my hermeneutical implications through these issues. I do not believe the issue of psuedonymity to be a problematic area for what I believe in terms of the inspiration of scripture. The authors of these epistles can still be inspired even though they may not be apostles. They may have learned under an apostle, and may therefore be able to write using their name because they can respond in a way that the apostle himself would. Even though much was conquered from this monstrosity, it makes it no more right now than then, and is no cause for celebration. Columbus landed in the Caribbean. This is a fact and is acknowledged by historians and analysis from around the world. Columbus did not land in America; therefore, Americans have no allegiance to commemorate him for our founding. Women were encouraged to pursue an education in both the regency period and the 20th century. This is evident when comparing Jane Austen s 1813 Regency social satire Pride and Prejudice, and Fay Weldon s 1984 postmodern epistolary work, Letters to Alice, as both texts manifest how changes in their social context have resulted in the altered position of the type of education encouraged for women, through the inclusion of different language features, ... Starting with the art of papermaking, this process created a writing surface other than bones, silk, or bamboo. Using plant fibers, Cai Lun of the Eastern Han created a lightweight and smooth textured piece of paper as opposed to heavy, rough bones or expensive silk. Then, Bi Shang of the Northern Song Dynasty invented movable type printing, which was later updated and succeeded by Europe. By applying baked clay in which text could be composed, Shang could print the frame onto paper. Therefore, paper and printing were used as expected: creating a source of entertainment in books, information on news, producing art, and more. Progressively, the compass was conceived shortly afterwards. The initial compass had a magnetic rod among a bronze case with twenty four directions etched into it and was used until the 8th Century. Its brother instrument used water to suspend itself and minimize movement, thus allowing long distance sea navigation. Finally, the introduction of gunpowder had revolutionized China and the world. Her role as a wife is not the only thing Hedda finds herself unable to accept, but she also cannot accept her life as it stands. Hedda is the daughter of the esteemed General Gabler, and is accustomed to a significantly wealthier lifestyle than she achieves through marrying George Tesman. Therefore, she cannot have all the luxuries she once knew. George has gone into debt just to buy her the house and furnishings, though she did not actually want the house the way he believes (Sparks). She desires freedoms that can never be hers as a woman, whose duties are to simply compliment the life of her husband. As a woman, she feels oppressed, an idea that did not gain substantial traction until the 19th century, making Hedda decades ahead of her time (Isherwood). He developed the idea of associationism which states that memory can be influenced by formations of associations or linkages between events, sensations, or ideas, so that experiencing any of these elicits a memory or anticipation of the other (Gluck, Mercado, Myers, 2014). It provides the physiological blueprint for the way our brain processes learning and memory. There are two major recent advancements in technology that help us physically see how all these parts work and function together. Structural neuroimaging is the process of creating a anatomical picture of the brain. It can show the size and shape of the brain as well as areas of lesions or brain damage (Gluck, Mercado, Myers, 2014). Common structural neuroimaging techniques used today are computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI). While they all work to create a 3D image of your brain, the each have their own unique image to show. The traditional x ray only providing one image at one angle, the CT scans allow for multiple images of slices or crosses through the body and this allows you to see the anatomical structure of the body in three dimensional space (Gluck, Mercado, Myers, 2014). The MRI works in a similar way although it uses magnetic waves to create electrical currents in the brain, allowing you to create an image of size and/or shape of the brain. The newly improved MRI or the DTI measures water diffusion in the brain tissue where several groups of axons are physically viewing the connections of the brain (Gluck, Mercado, Myers, 2014). Functional neuroimaging has allowed researchers to view the activities and functions in the brain and track the amount of oxygen being carried in the blood, thus allowing them to view areas where the brain is high function or low function. Technology like the positron emission tomography (PET) and functional magnetic imaging (fMRI) are ways in which we can psychically see these areas of activity. While I was there the sun shined for approximately twenty hours a day, the mosquitos were unlike anything I had ever experienced, and we went fishing on the Yukon River. Within seconds after getting out of the truck, they were all over me. I kicked a nearby bush and hundreds of mosquitos flew out of it. My brother and his friends acted as if it was not that bad, I guess a person can get used to anything, but I was having one of the worst experiences of my life. Surprisingly it was not the bite of the mosquitoes, but the menacing noise and what seemed like impending doom. Fortunately, the mosquitoes subsided once we got out on the water. Fishing on the Yukon River was sensational. We started with an hour and a half boat ride up stream to get to our fishing destination. Even though it was the middle of summer the temperature on the river was cold. I watched in amazement, as a bald eagle plucked a fish from the river. Even more incredible was the shear sense of immenseness. We stopped at an inlet to the Yukon River, and that is where we did most of our fishing. We were fishing for Northern Pike and in order to keep them, they had to be between 32 and 46 inches in length. It seemed like everything we caught was either under or over the legal length, but it was still fun catching them. I was so excited about being in Alaska, on the Yukon River, and with my brother, I did not mind releasing most of our catch. After many hours of fishing we decided we had enough for the day. Instead of heading back to the dock to clean the fish, we filleted the fish in the middle of the river so we did not have to get back in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This quote from Georg Buchner can be used to describe the tragic deaths of three little boys who were rendered defense less against their attackers. On May 5, 1993 in West Memphis, Arkansas, three young second grade boys, by the names of Christopher Byers, Steven Branch, and Michael Moore, were brutally murdered after being beaten and hogtied by their own shoelaces. A year later, Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin, and Jessie Misskelley were convicted and sent to prison for this heinous crime. Even though the three men were convicted for the crime, there is still great controversy as to who actually killed the three boys. Throughout all this controversy, evidence, testimony, confessions, and more point towards the three men known as the West Memphis Three , to be the real killers. In the case of the three murdered eight year olds, West Memphis police department s investigative work led to a numbered list of suspects. This is important in terms of how the psychological relates to the physical. Another contribution to psychology is that Mesmer sought to be both a scientist and a practitioner, and that this model of the dual role of a therapist is important for therapists working in psychology today. Serious, mysterious, and suspenseful; through third person single vision narration, Richard Connell the author of The Most Dangerous Game artfully tells the tale of Rainsford, the protagonist who was once the hunter, but is now the prey of his antagonist, General Zaroff. In the story, the General is hunting the protagonist and despite Rainsford s best effort to kill him before he is killed, the General is still hot on his trail. However, it can be seen as the story unfolds, how the author to chose to write in third person single vision. For example, the pronoun he was written, which indicates third person. Secondly, the current POV also has a single focus on the protagonist and his opinions about the general, which helps to develop the theme. Richard Connell wrote The Most Dangerous Game in third person single vision because it is the best approach to create suspense at crucial moments and develop the underlying theme. Now some may say a first person narration would better suit the story because it would create the comedic effect of dramatic irony, despite its serious tone and its plot of hunter turned prey. In some aspects they are right. However, The Most Dangerous Game is a story of survival and of possible death. A third person narrator is much more appropriate and necessary because it helps to create the much needed suspense for the crisis, when everything is at the height of its motion. The story is a serious tale and recounts the survival adventure of its protagonist Rainsford, as he sets traps to kill the general and tries to avoid being killed himself. So, the narrating voice must capture such seriousness and also create the suspense at the necessary parts of the story. The original point of view, third person single vision, has a narrating voice who captures and develops both of these elements. The voice seems to stand just behind ..., the ... • 26. Reflection On The Process Of Bid Glass This was my first time ever doing stained glass. My goal for this class was to learn the process of stained glass, grow in patience, and grow in appreciation for the art. With all of the different aspects, I feel like this goal was met. The first part of the process was cutting the glass. For this, the tools needed was a glass/ball cutter, running pliers, grozing pliers, and (of course) your glass. Using the ball cutter, you make a score on the glass. This should only ever be done once. After that is made, take the pliers to break the glass. The running pliers are used for straight lines What you do is align the cut with the line on the pliers and pinch, and the glass should break. The grozing pliers are used for non straight cuts. For this, you take the pliers in one hand and your hand as the other and go on either side of the score, then break or snap it upwards. Throughout this process I had a good amount of struggles. I first struggled with figuring out how to position my hand, the amount of pressure that I should put on the glass, and the angle to put my hand. Another struggle that I encountered was breaking off the glass that had a curved score. Sometimes the glass wouldn t break, or other times the glass shattered . At one point I ended up deeply cutting myself, but I went on with a makeshift band aid and got all of the pieces cut. After all the pieces were cut, I went to the grinder and grinded them all. The storage of grains made it harder to have a nomadic lifestyle; therefore the people started staying in one place. This ties in with writing due to the fact that the people kept records of the amount that they were paid. Beer was actually healthy due to the fact that it wouldn t be completely fermented, therefore it would contain yeast that provided nutrients and vitamins. I d like to focus on King Lear s relationship with his daughters as it evolves throughout the play as well as the play King Lear s themes regarding politics and politicking. The passage I think best represents the conclusion of these themes is King Lear s conversation with Cordelia in Act 5, scene 3 where they have been taken prisoner by the English. My conclusion from reading this passage closely is that in Shakespeare s King Lear, King Lear s speech to Cordelia regarding their impending imprisonment builds Shakespeare s idea of caged potential and judgement for those who politic. The first lines of this speech, No, no, no, no! Come, let s away to prison: We two alone will sing like birds i the cage: (5.3.8 9) in response to Cordelia s question of whether they should see Goneril and Regan, give us an idea of King Lear s mental state at this time in the play. King Lear appears to be lucid and to have largely regained his sanity from the earlier scenes of the play once he has reunited with Cordelia. He insists strongly, with four noes, that they should go immediately to prison. The metaphor of Lear and Cordelia as birds in a cage implies that he and Cordelia will have lost their freedom, as a bird in a cage loses its ability to fly.
