An Example Of The Salt March
An example of a non violent movement is the Salt March led by Mahatma Gandhi. This march
happened in March 1930 in protest of the British rule. Thousands followed Gandhi for 240 miles to
the sea. Mahatma Gandhi thought that by breaking the British Salt Act, that Indians cannot collect or
sell salt, he could break the law without any violence. Because of the heavy taxes that the British
positioned on salt there was a mass civil disobedience and support for the salt march all around India.
Millions of civilians became involved and the British responded by arresting more than 60,000 of
them. Gandhi declared the Salt March as the theme for his new campaign, Satyagraha or Civil
Disobedience. Gandhi was released in 1931 and agreed to call of his campaign in exchange for a
negotiation role in a conference in London regarding India s future.
A non violent movement that occurred in 1919 was the protest against the Simon Commission. The
Simon Commission was a group of 7 English men sent from England to report how the Indian
Constitution was working. It was led by Sir John Simon and Clement Atlee, the future prime minister.
This commission appalled the Indians, as it had not a single Indian Member and that only foreigners

Examples Of What It Means To Be An American Essay
What means to be an American? About everywhere in the societies and the people in it have diverse

The Pros And Cons Of US Budget Deficit Spending
Unfortunate for some Presidents, they experienced a terrible recession during their terms in the office.
In the modern day President Obama was one example, in 2008 the United States hit her worst
recession in the past sixty years (Schmidt, Shelley, Bardes, 2010 2011). The President took a drastic
move with the support of the Congress and passed the largest stimulus package in the history of the
United States. According to government Authors Schmidt, Shelley, Bardes, the Congressional Budget
Office argued the spending could lead to a federal government budget deficit of a $1.6 Trillion in 2009
(2010 2011). The debt is still hanging around of about five percent of the GDP going all the way
through 2019 even though the recession is over the nation still have the huge deficit (Schmidt, Shelley,

To increase economy growth and considered a real expenditure by the federal government a purchase
component of aggregate demand by government agencies for goods and services which are a direct
production transaction (Kotler, Bowen, Makens, 2013). For example, public universities, college
educational research services, transportation and infrastructure. They can be a long term benefit
because they produced productivity. In 2009, President Obama made a statement that the package
would create spending by businesses and consumers making the investment a long term economic
growth. (2013, p.287). For instance, in the past President Roosevelt recession addressed the issue of
unemployment with his New Deal program, even though he wanted to avoid a budget deficit. When
such spending directed into the economy, in turn, can generate income for taxes and interest example,
college student loans. Employment circulates money in the market, and there will be an increase in

Dna, Gene Expression, And Basic Patterns Of Heredity
Introduction
This unit will focus on DNA, gene expression, and basic patterns of heredity. The main objective of
this unit is to provide opportunities for students to learn general concepts that are associated with
genetics and to create a better understanding of inheritance and its relationship to genetic diseases.
According to standards set by the Next Generation Science Standards which are endorsed by the
National Science Teachers Association, students should be able to analyze and interpret data to
provide evidence that plants and animals have traits inherited from parents and that variation of these
traits exists in a group of similar organisms. Additionally, students should be able to ask questions to
clarify the role of DNA and chromosomes have in coding the instructions for characteristic traits
passed from parents to offspring (NGSS, 2016). Students should have the opportunity to learn how
genetics affects past generations as well as learn how genetics and inheritance influences our past,
present, and future. Understanding even the simplest genetic cross requires combining inferences
about two complex processes: how genetic traits are inherited through meiosis and mating, and how
these traits interact to produce the external differences seen in parents and offspring. Students should
also have opportunities to learn the basic concepts of genetics that provide an increased understanding
of heredity, DNA, and specifically genetic diseases (MDE, 2010). The ultimate

What Are The Four Factors That Influence Ocean Currents...
Answer the following questions using complete sentences. Each question is worth 4 points.
1. Describe four factors that influence ocean currents.
Four factors that influence ocean currents are the Coriolis Effect, the climate, upwellings, and water
density.
2. Explain how the Coriolis Effect impacts ocean currents.
The Coriolis Effect draws the water moving towards the nearest pole to the east, and the water moving
towards the equator to the west. This pull causes fluctuations in the ocean currents.
3. What is the relationship between ocean currents and climate?
The climate affects the temperature of water which can cause fluctuation in currents because of the
chemical properties of water. As colder water comes from the poles towards the equator, heat is
transferred into the air, causing changes in wind patterns. This change in temperature causes a change
in the density of the air. These changes move moisture in the air to different places, causing
precipitation. This precipitation, along with as the correlating air currents, is what causes the transfer
in heat that causes ocean currents. As the colder air, and thus water, moves towards the equator from
the poles, ocean currents are formed that impact local climates. As currents bring differently heated
water to shore, this warmer (or cooler) water can affect local air currents as it transfers energy form
the water to the air, or vice versa.

Ethnic Differences Between Tutsi And Twa Essay
Analysis Before the genocide, Rwanda demonstrated three major ethnic categories. Hutu constituted
the majority of the population, accounting for some 85% of all native Rwandans. Tutsi and Twa,
comprising approximately 14% and 1% of the population respectively, shared Rwanda with the Hutu
majority. Between Hutu and Tutsi, there were no major differences in language, religion, or clanship.
Traditionally, these ethnic distinctions related to occupation rather than traditional racial categories:
The Hutu were generally identified as agriculturalists whereas the Tutsi were usually recognized as
herdsmen. Prior to European colonialism and the subsequent issuing of racial identity cards during the
1930s, these identities were flexible Hutu could acquire livestock and Tutsi could practice agriculture.
In the early 1900s, Dutch colonialists reorganized Rwandan society on the basis of Tutsi racial
superiority. Hutu and Twa were recognized as historically indigenous populations whereas the Tutsi
were believed to have migrated from either Ethiopia or the Middle East. Colonialists exaggerated the
physical differences between Hutu and Tutsi, often mistakenly incorporating the pigmy Twa into these
comparisons. In actuality, these constructed racial classifications were inconsistent and arbitrary.
Unable to distinguish consistently between native Hutu and Tutsi, Dutch administrators eventually
introduced means tested systems of ethnic recognition, by classifying any person

But again these are only some of the negative attributes acquitted to Coca Cola. Their brand image on
the other hand has a huge impact on how they represent themselves to consumers such as images
associated with Coca Cola include freedom, youth, refreshment, fun, innovation etc. These are just
some of the assumptions which come to mind when thinking of Coca Cola s image. On the other hand
we could look at how Coca Cola compares to its competitors both direct and indirectly through the use
of a perceptual map (See Appendix 1).
It is clear that Coca Cola leads the competition in terms of quality and popularity with competition
from both direct and indirect companies such as Pepsi who are their main competitors but indirect
companies include Tropicana Innocent smoothies. As these are its indirect companies competing
against them in the opposite and more healthy market which means Coca Cola brand image is being
damaged as it s indirect company competition is showing them up in terms of healthy imagery as they
promote to consumers healthy living whereas on the other hand Coca Cola is known to cause the
opposite of what innocent smoothies do for its consumers.

Summary Of How I Met My Husband
Extended Journal Edie
One of the most diverse, self discovering times in many lives is transitioning from childhood to
adulthood. For some, this change comes with ease and excitement, while for others it can be a time
filled with bewilderment, dread, and questions. For Edie in How I Met My Husband by Alice Munro,
her transformation into a woman is not easy. Edie experiences a time in life filled with confusion and
unease as she evolves from a child into an adult. Edie, a fifteen year old girl, has blossomed into a
young woman physically; however, she struggles with her immature actions and thoughts. She has her
first job as a family maid and caregiver. She no longer attends school because she believes she is not
smart enough. Being thrown into a serious first job can be a struggle to adapt to, but Edie enjoys her
new job and finds that she succeeds. Her actions prove that she is mature enough to handle the
struggles and burden of taking care of a house and caring for others, it shows a motherly instinct
inside of her. However, Edie dropping out of school may question if she made a mature decision and
whether or not she chose to take the easy way out of a struggle she was facing. Edie is also beginning
to become a woman physically. She describes how she has begun to see her body form curves. She
discusses how she checks herself out in the mirror stating, I stood up on the side of the tub and
admired myself naked, from three directions (220). She presents herself as a

Sugar: the Sweet Poison
Contemporary Issues in Adolescent Health Wellbeing
WOOLSTON, Kristina
8/26/2014
Sugar is delicious it is a fast source of energy and sometimes cheaper than buying healthy foods. But
Australian teenagers need to wake up to the fact that they are consuming too much of it, the
consequences it is having on their lives.
Introduction
Sugar tastes good, can be used for baking and is a quick source of energy; however what is the reality
of eating sugar? In what way does it affect our bodies and minds to give a short boost of energy?
According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, in Australia, 24.9% of adolescents
between the ages of five and seventeen are overweight or obese
(AustralianInstituteofHealthandWelfare, 2013). As the number of overweight teenagers in Australia
continued to rise, researchers looked for a reason for these overwhelming numbers and discovered that
Australian teenagers were consuming over 53kg of sugar each year, which is around 29 teaspoons of
both natural and added sugar each day (Cowan, 2014).
How is sugar digested?
Sugar is a Carbohydrate and provides a source of energy in the body. It is the only source of energy
for red blood cells and the brain. It is digested quickly and broken down to form glucose and fructose,
which is used for energy (My Food Diary, 2014). Fructose,

Animal Farm Submissions
Marguerite Young, an American poet, novelist, biographer and critic, once said, If you understand
hallucination and illusion, you don t blindly follow any leader. You must know if the person is sane or
insane, over the abyss (Young 1). However, in the novel Animal Farm written by George Orwell,
many of the farm animals blindly followed a leader regardless of what that leader did or said. These
submissions lead to a lack of reasoning and thought behind the animal s actions. Orwell uses allusions,
violence, and comparisons to delineate the theme that following leadership blindly will ultimately
cause a society to fail. In Animal Farm, each character represents a character, group, or idea from
history. Some animals are more relevant than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By being submissive to Napoleon, many animals were hurt and killed in battles. One of the worst
battles fought was with the neighboring farmers, A cow, three sheep, and two geese were killed, and
nearly everyone was wounded (Orwell 108). This battle was led by Napoleon and his close comrades.
If the animals had thought of the potential consequences and not fought in the battle, many lives could
have been saved. The death of Boxer is also an example of how negligence and blind leadership can
cause harm to others. After being told that Boxer would be taken to a safe place by Napoleon, he was
taken to a slaughter house, They are taking Boxer to the knacker s! (Orwell 123). If the animals had
taken matters into their own hands, Boxer would have been protected. He would have not lost his life
simply because Napoleon told a lie. Finally, Orwell writes how Boxer murdered a human because he
told that it was the right thing to have a rebellion. Along with other animals, Boxer fought for the
farm, He is dead, said Boxer sorrowfully. I had no intention of doing that (Orwell 58). Without this
blind leadership to Snowball and the other animals on the farm, Boxer would not have harmed the
boy. These deaths had a hand in creating fear and panic within the farm, resulting in a failed

The Mormon Polygamy
INTRODUCTION
When one thinks about marriages or weddings in the United States, Americans may often
reminiscence on two individuals tying the knot. However, in the western United States, and in parts of
Canada, more and more people are practicing polygamy, which is the act of an individual marrying
another person(s), after one already has a spouse. Although the practice is illegal, individuals within
the Fundamental Latter Day Saints Church partake in the activity, as it is a divine part and calling of
their religion. The FLDS is a break off sect off the mainstream Mormon, or Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints, Church. The Mormon Church originally practiced polygamy, up until The

Holding out Help, a non profit organization based in Utah, has sought out to help people escape
polygamist communities ( Holding Out Help ). Other than that, there is not many resources or places
available for the women that are seeking justice from the harmful communities they grew up in Short
Creek. I have discovered this from my research, in addition to the lack of knowledge individuals have
about the mainstream Mormon Church, the FLDS, and polygamy. Although the Mormon Church used
to promote polygamy in the 19th century, they do not practice polygamy, at least in this lifetime,
according to Miller. They are two separate entities, and many people get confused by this. I have seen
this from my own personal experiences, when I say that I have family from the state of Utah. Many
people believe that all that there is to do in Utah is have more than one wife. I am not certain on who
needs to make sure that there is a line of difference between the Mormon Church and the Fundamental
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but there needs to be one if the Mormon Church wants
separation from the FLDS

Critical Summary Of Insurgent
Choice As was true of its precursor, Insurgent mainly revolves around the theme of choices and in the
manner they can change you. After all, the book s tagline is one choice can destroy you. In Insurgent,
all of Tris s decisions had main drawback, as she determined whether or not to enter risky situations,
to fib to Tobias, and even to surrender herself. With so much on the line, Tris s choices involve not
only her, but everybody around her. As the cycle goes on, option left just as important, but the stakes

creating diverse groups with limitations between them. Insurgent illustrates how these divisions
generate an us vs. them attitude that eventually brings it to ruin. In this novel, schism also happen
within these groups: Dauntless splits into faithful and conspirator, Abnegation is broken , Erudite
imperfection from Jeanine and her following, and Johanna and other Amity tear from their section
when they do not have the same point of view with the result to stay straightforward . These divisions
are what eventually creates so much annihilation, and as Tris learns time and yet again that it is not
possible to complete snooty goals when you are separated down in the center. Trust and Honesty With
much of this novel taking place in Candor nerve center, it is to be expected that trust and honesty
figure vastly into the theme. Tris and Tobias s relationship is put under harm

The Need to Support and Assist Employees
Throughout our career, we have been taught to check our personal problems at the door prior to
starting our work shift. In other words, personal problems are exactly what it is, personal , and have no
place in a work environment. In today s new economy, organizations are realizing the importance of
providing assistance to employees dealing with major personal problems. At times, when an employee
is having a personal problem at home, it can after their work performance and can potentially disrupt
the work flow of the organization. Industrial and labor relations experts talk of a changing labor force
and the need for employers to develop new polices in response to the changing needs of their
employees, if they wish to remain competitive in an increasingly world economy (Kamerman Kahn,
1987, p. 2). I personally believe that employers should provide assistance and be supportive of their
employees. Unfortunately many of us in the work force are presented with personal problems that are
unforeseen. Organizations need to be open minded in regards to these isolated issues and provide
support during the employee s difficult time. Emotions play a critical role in the success of every
organization, yet many people in key decision making positions, leaders with outstanding technical
skills, fail to understand the role emotions play in a work setting (Reece, Brandt, Howie, 2011, p.
190). My current employer, MetroHealth Medical Center, offers their employees and the

conducts himself in a professional manner and his leadership style gains the respect of his deputies.
His uniform is always clean, pressed and well fitted. His command presence is an example for others
to follow. He motivates his deputies by leading from the front, answering calls for service and
conducting traffic stops, while maintaining his administrative duties. He maintains a healthy lifestyle
and encourages his deputies to do the same. He is also an active member of the SWAT team and
encourages his deputies to seek out collateral duties to enhance their law enforcement career and
expand their knowledge. On his off time, Sergeant Prindle is also a leader in the Air Force Reserve,
currently holding the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Balancing two leadership roles while maintaining

In one of the three town meetings in Berkshire County which John Ashley represented, Ashley was

Non Reciprocal Trade Arrangement Is Africa Growth And...
The first RTA I chose to discuss is a Non Reciprocal Trade Arrangement called Africa Growth and
Opportunity Act (AGOA). USTR.gov states, In 2013, U.S. goods imports from sub Saharan African
under AGOA and the related GSP program totaled $26.8 billion, more than three times the amount in
2001, the first full year of AGOA trade. There are challenges for this agreement as the site later states,
Exports of U.S. poultry have been effectively excluded from the South African market for 15 years
due to a range of trade barriers and other measures. This agreement has potential to assist the African
economy in numerous ways as the exports can create large revenue for Africa and can also provide
employment opportunities. The difficulty lies with changing trade barriers that could begin to cause
more products and materials to have higher taxes associated.
The second RTA I chose is called Free Trade Area Agreement (FTAA). As export.gov states, The FTA
includes a non binding statement of intent to eliminate barriers to trade in services such as tourism,
communications, banking, insurance, management consulting, accounting, law, computer services,
and advertising. The benefits are mutual and the United States has made tremendous profit on exports.
The site later states, U.S. exports to Israel grew from $2.5 billion in 1985 to $11.3 billion in 2010. This
agreement can become challenging as the economy can shift and with the presidential election
threatening to put more taxes on

A Comparison of Exxon and Chevron
Executive Summary Exxon and Chevron are no doubt some of the leading incorporated oil companies
on the globe. Exxon Corp. is the second largest oil firm after Royal Dutch Shell, it is respected for
getting the biggest revenue return in 2008 which no company in the U.S. have ever reported before.
According to Wilson (2009) Chevron has managed to show a lot of profitability in the market despite
the decease in its oil production. It graded as one of firms which made a billion dollars profit within a
week in the period of July to September 2008. Regardless of profitability trends set by the two oil
firms in the U.S. market, they have been facing financial decline like the rest of the companies in other
industries. The two firms are like two sailing ships which are taking longer time to sink. In the last few
years, the production capacity of Chevron and Exxon has decreased and their listings on the stock
market have become weak. The continuation of construction and drilling which requires billions of
dollars in expense of oil production might make them experience a bigger financial crisis (Wilson,
2009). Exxon and Chevron are so different in a number of ways. When you compare Chevron to
Exxon, Chevron is a smaller firm. The ratios of Exxon are relatively larger than Chevron s.
Nevertheless, Chevron has a got a wide net working capital and market ratio than its counterpart
Exxon. This therefore, means that because its larger networking capital, Chevron needs a lot of money

Americans achieved more genuine progress toward racial equality in America in over the past 3
centuries. In 1968, Coretta Scott King founded the King Center in Atlanta as a memorial to her

Examples Of Archetype In Beowulf
Beowulf was an epic poem that embodied many of the themes of the time period that it was written.
Many ideas such as the obsession was wealth, power, and fame are well documented throughout
history. While Beowulf was certainly fiction, there is no reason that the unknown creator of the epic
would not have taken elements from the surrounding culture to enrich the story. This theory would
justify the recurring elements of masculine male warriors and a lack of women as anything other than
wives or bargaining chips. It is no secret that women have not always been treated as equals,
especially in a time where most societies were patriarchal. All of the ancient societies also tend to
have their legends and heroes. Beowulf was simply an exaggeration ... Show more content on

When using reader response criticism, a comparison to modern entertainment could be invaluable.
Investopedia.com will be used to present evidence that humans enjoy thrilling entertainment by citing

Mark Twain Emily Dickinson
Analysis on American Works of Literature Throughout history there have been many influential
writers that have impacted generations. There have been writers from Shakespeare in England to Sun
Tzu in China. They have impacted the many generations that followed. America has had many
influential writers of its own. Emily Dickinson and Mark Twain are just a few of the many examples
of writers that have originated in America. Mark Twain wrote Extracts from Adam s Diary a playful

The short story brought up many normal things that would have been curiosities to the first humans.
Extracts from Adam s Diary brought the modern world a story that the reader could understand in
today s world. Mark Twain wrote the story true to form on how real humans would act when
interacting (Hope). In the story Adam adapted his situation and began to feel a need for Eve even
though he did not want her in the first place. The story shows how sworn couples have to adapt to
each other on their strengths and weaknesses. The story teaches how as humans we also go through
the emotions of first dislike, then acceptance evolving into being pleased with, transformed to love
(Hope). In this short story Mark Twain does an incredible job at incorporating in allusions in this work
of literature to readers who know the bible version and this playful more human version. The short
story teaches how one learns to accept a person if one gives the time to learn to love someone else
even when they have many flaws. Eve is shown as being a bit bossy and inconsiderate towards Adam
but they time they spend together Adam slowly learns to love her. Adam says: [a]fter all these years, I
see that I was mistaken about Eve in the beginning; it is better to live outside the Garden with her than
inside it without her (Twain 10). Adam is quoted saying he could not be

Leopold Mozart Essay
Leopold Mozart
The rain poured down hard, flooding the suburban streets of Vienna. Thunder roared all around the
funeral procession on December 6,
1791, as it laboriously headed for St. Marx Cemetery. As it reached the city walls of Vienna, the few
friends who had accompanied Mozart on his last journey turned back, due to the unusually bad
weather conditions. Such a scene is sadly appropriate in representing the tragic end of Mozart who had
begun his life with such immeasurable promise. On
January 27, 1756, Leopold Mozart paced up and down the hall of his home in Salzburg, Austria, in
anticipation of the arrival of his seventh child. His wife, Anna Maria, had given birth to a boy:
Wolfgang. Wolfgang and his only other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After three years of monotony with an occasional commission, the twenty year old musician had no
more to hope for from life in the provinces and reached the decision: he would leave Salzburg. Mozart
felt he could breathe again as he set off from Salzburg sure that his genius was about to be
acknowledged by the world at large. In 1777, Mozart traveled with his mother to
Mannheim, where he remained and composed, ignoring the looming financial problems he was facing.
In the meantime, he had fallen madly in love with the young singer Aloysia
Weber. Leopold was aghast, Aloysia was the daughter of a lowly copyist and member of the chorus at
the court theater, this match seemed disastrous. Mozart s father resorted to emotional blackmail to get
him out of Mannheim and into
Paris where he could take on pupils. It seems that Mozart did pay heed and set off with his mother for
Paris on March
13, 1778. In Paris, everything seemed to be going well until
Anna Maria was struck down by a fever and fell into a coma. Her death on July 3rd left Mozart
grieving and in isolation. He reluctantly returned to Salzburg full of dread, and was greeted by his
father with these words: If your mother had come back home from Mannheim, she would not have
died... You would have got to Paris at a better time... and my poor wife would still be (alive) in
Salzburg.

How Did King Henry Viii English Reformation
Henry VIII, best known for his efforts in the English Reformation, became heir to the English throne
in 1509. Though many refer to him as the King of England, he also was the Lord of Ireland and
oversaw the country of Wales. Throughout his reign, Henry VIII had accomplished many political,
social, cultural, and religious changes he thought would benefit most for his country, his people, and
himself. Perhaps the most widespread and revolutionary change that Henry proposed was the
separation of the Church of England from the Pope and the declaration of his supremacy over the
Church, also known as the English Reformation. In contrast to popular conception, the Reformation
not only influenced the people residing within England, but also within

Population Growth In California
The state of California currently has a consistent population growth, where birth rates are 49% of the
population, immigration 51% and older Californians are about 20% of the total population. Since
California borders the country of Mexico, the number of young hispanics in California is steadily

high paying jobs, and there is a low amount of low skilled jobs available in the state in fact,
Californians of modest or low incomes are challenged by the high cost of housing, inadequate heath

Current Literature Regarding the History of Bullying Research
Adult bullying at work is shockingly common and very destructive. In an in depth analysis of 146
organizations worldwide, workplaces evidencing bullying on a relatively routine basis made up 44%
of the total analyzed. U.S. studies also suggest alarming prevalence rates. During any given 6 to 12
month period, up to 13 percent of workers are bullied on the job; this increases significantly when
counting those bullied anytime during their careers .These numbers translate to millions of workers:
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics 136 million Americans were employed in July 2008. An
estimated 55 million Americans have been bullied at work using the 33% rate. This paper reviews the
current literature regarding the history of bullying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A decade later, the topic surfaced in England In 1991, a freelance journalist named Andrea Adams,
brought the issue to public attention in Britain through a series of BBC radio posts; she labeled the
phenomenon bullying. As a result of Adams work and public concern, interest in and the study of
bullying intensified in the U.K. Although Scandinavia and the U.K. continue to lead in this area,
bullying and mobbing research now includes, among others, scholars and professionals in Japan,
Australia, and Canada.
In the United States the history of adult bullying research has been less straightforward. U.S.
psychiatrist Carroll Brodsky conducted one of the first studies of workplace harassment and
subsequently published The Harassed Worker . Despite the groundbreaking nature of his work, the
book stirred little interest at the time. Brodsky s research was revived in the early 1990s when interest
surged in England. Around this same time, the study of human aggression expanded to include
aggression at work, research that was centrally concerned with perpetrators. In the early 1990s,
nursing professor, Helen Cox, began studying verbal abuse in medical settings when it appeared to be
driving away gifted nursing students. Around the same time rare but highly visible occurrences of
workplace murder sparked a massive amount of research that extended into the next two. In the late
1990s research with a district focus that

A Issue For The Older Person With Fracture Trauma
This assignment will critically discuss a pertinent issue for the older person with fracture trauma. It
will aim to explore the mortality rate and clinical outcomes of neck of femur fractures in the older
person. It will look at information from the National Hip Fracture Database (NHFD) and the Fracture
Outcome Research Database (FORD) while also looking at the best evidence based practice in
accordance with the National Institute for health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines, the British
Geriatric Society (BGS) and the British Orthopaedic Associations (BOA) blue book standards. It will
also compare the current statistics in Northern Ireland with the rest of the United Kingdom.

Its figures showed approximately 70,000 to 75,000 hip fractures occur each year which costs the NHS
£2 billion per year including social and medical input. Within one month about 10% of all neck of
femur fractures die, however these deaths are more commonly associated with pre existing health
conditions as opposed to being as a result of the fracture itself.
Bretherton and Parker (2014) have given evidence that suggests that approximately 200 elderly
patients sustain a hip fracture per day in England and Wales. The rate of 30 day mortality which is
associated with this injury is 8.2%. Travis et al, (2014) found that in 1990, the global number of hip
fractures reported were 1.3 million, it is estimated that this could increase to 21 million by 2050. Neck
of femur fractures are considered the most common cause of injury related death. In 2006, roughly
330,000 patients sustained neck of femur fractures. (Shields et Kates 2014). It is found that neck of
femur fractures are the most common occurring fractures in the older patient. Hershkovitz et al (2010)
highlight how it is the most common traumatic event in the elderly and may lead to significant
mortality. A study carried out over ten years, between 2001 and 2011 using data from the National
Health Service (NHS) in England, showed a 15.5% increase in hospital admissions

Comparison Of Pride In To Kill A Mockingbird And Into Thin...
In Christianity, there are seven deadly sins: Pride, Hate, Gluttony, Sloth, Lust, Greed, and Envy. If one
holds one of these traits, they ll be sentenced to hell or have to fight for themselves, to prove their
purity... These sins show themselves in many novels, though they shine through more prevalently in
four books in particular. To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee presents the sin of anger through
extremist bias and racism. Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare holds the deadly sin of pride through
declining to talk the conflict out, which ends in numerous deaths. Silas Marner by George Eliot only
shines through with the sin of greed, as the characters care only about their money and/or fame and
belongings. Finally, Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer symbolizes lust, as so many mistakes cost lives of
others due to wanting to summit or wanting to conquer their own beast on the mountain. ... Show

Favorite Movie Assignment
For this assignment, I have chosen to pick one of my favorite movies called Star Wars episode 3
Revenge of the Sith. Because I am a huge fan of the whole Star Wars series, but this specific movie, I
have seen several times and it is my favorite out of all the movies included in the franchise. Before I
took this class, I thought this movie was phenomenal, I loved the way it was put together, the whole
story was interesting, it stood out from different movies because of its creative and unique concept of
the science fiction, adventure, action, romance, and fantasy genres. When I first saw this movie, I was
truly intrigued and didn t lose interest in any part throughout the film, it fascinated me. After I had
took this theater class though, and after analyzing several different movies, I looked back at the movie,
I realized that all the terminology and content that I have learned throughout the course wasn t put to
mind because I didn t pay attention to it really because I didn t even know the names of the terms that
I learned in class and the insights of how this film was put together, I was more focused on what was
happening in the story. After I took this class, I have changed my response to this film because when I
analyze this movie, I now have a deeper understanding of what goes on in this movie, I know this
because I think of how different scenes in the movie add to the story/narrative, and how some
characters are affected and how it adds to the story, I know what kind

The Sirens Of Titan Essay
Over the course of Kurt Vonnegut s career, an unorthodox handling of time became one of many
signature features in his fictional works (Allen 37). Despite The Sirens of Titan (1959) being only his
second novel, this trademark is still prevalent. When delving into science fiction, it is often helpful to
incorporate ideas from other works within the genre. This concept is exemplified by the megatext, an
aspect of science fiction that involves the application of a reader s own knowledge of the genre to a
new encounter (Evans xiii). By working within the megatext, Ursula K. Le Guin s The Dispossessed
(1974) provides an insightful avenue in exploring the handling of time and its consequences in
Vonnegut s The Sirens of Titan. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An interesting structural feature to note is that each chapter is preceded by a quotation from that
chapter. This is not unlike a prophecy and resembles Rumfoord s abilities. This use of chapter
quotations as well as the looping of the narrative could be interpreted to reflect Rumfoord s perception
of time in that everything that ever has been always will be, and everything that ever will be always
has been (20). There is also a significant amount of foreshadowing in that the novel is essentially
outlined during Malachi s first meeting with Rumfoord.
In The Dispossessed, time can be thought of in either a Sequential or Simultaneous manner. The
Sequential school of thought is the more concrete, familiar version in that time flows in a linear
progression. Simultaneity considers this linearity as not...a physically objective phenomenon, but as a
subjective one (Le Guin 221). Shevek, the protagonist, makes use of an apt comparison to further
describe the concept: It would be a little like reading a book, you see. The book is all there, at once,
between its covers. But if you want to read the story and understand it, you must begin with the first
page, and go forward, always in order. So the universe would be a very great book, and we would be
very small readers. (221)
According to Shevek, where Sequence falls short is its inability to

Lead The Way
People Lead the Way VRIO stands for value, rarity, imitability and organization. It represents a
strategic tool to assist with evaluating a company s internal resources and capabilities as a way to
provide a competitive advantage (Jurevicius, 2013). This tool can provide insight into the critical
nature an organization assumes with identifying, sourcing and attracting new leadership. Leaders drive
organizations, set the tone, establish culture and are ultimately accountable for organizational
performance. People lead the way to successful operations. Without the right people a business is just
walls and capital equipment incapable of generating value. People are the brains of an operation,
ensuring the rest of the body understands the response required to function. The importance of putting
the right person in the right position can prove a daunting task. Every person is unique with a different
mental and physical makeup. This make up shapes a person s beliefs and attitudes. Putting a
personality that is square in a round hole can be met with disaster. There are a number of methods to
help understand a person s personality. Myers Briggs is a personality type indicator (MBTI). It
represents a method where a person answers a set of unique questions to help establish their
personality traits. Understanding these traits can provide insight into how a person processes
information and interacts with others. Understanding one s personality, in conjunction with other

The Well-Known Story Of Narcissistic Myth
The etiology of what is known today as Narcissistic Personality Disorder can be traced back to a time
in which humans struggled to identify and define themselves in the world. The well known story of
narcissus, for whom the term Narcissism and Narcissistic Personality Disorder is named after, first
emerged around 8 A.D. The story goes into depth of how Narcissus, a Thespian, the son of the nymph
Leiriope, developed a tenacious pride in his own beauty. A roman poet named Ovid tells the story of
how Narcissus became fascinated and entranced by his own beautiful appearance in a clear spring for
hours at a time in his narrative Metamorphoses. In Robert Grave s version of the story, The Greek
Myths, he summarizes how Narcissus was pursued by heartlessly rejected lovers of both sexes and
turned all of them down because he favored himself more (1955). Graves elaborated on how Narcissus
rejected Echo, whom was a suitor. As professed to his mother by a famous seer, Narcissus will live to
a ripe old age provided that he never knows himself (Graves, 1955). This well known Greek myth has
become the perfect display of Narcissistic Personality Disorder ... Show more content on

because the child has a hard time differentiating between themselves and their mother (Freud, 1914).
During this hard time that the child has, the energy and drives that are devoted to their care taker are
known as libidinal drives and what is left in the child is seen as narcissistic, as those drives are

how radio has changed
Radio has been existing since the 20th century; it has a great significance to every one of us,
especially when it comes to entertainment. Through the years, we depend on the radio when traveling
or relaxing at home, it is where we listen to music, news or even soap operas. Well the sound quality
has increased dramatically. So has the amount of stations. When radio was first invented there was
only something on the air for a few hours a day, now radio is 24/7. Also, when radio was first
invented, there was no FM. Everything was AM. Then once FM was introduced people were skeptical
that it would catch on. Back then they would sell either an AM radio, or an FM radio. These days it s a
law that every radio must have AM and FM capabilities. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to music, radio stations also played dramatic episodes of programs, such as Amos n Andy
and Superman. Radios also became the preferred method for communicating the news of the
day. While the AM frequency was popular for broadcasting throughout the 1950s and beyond,
researchers began developing the FM in the 1940s as an alternative to FM. This method became
popular during the 1960s and took hold throughout the 1970s. It was more popular than the AM signal
because it could transmit on any frequency. Although its original purpose was intended for classical
music lovers and educational purposes, the FM method was a favorite for rock music in the 1960s. It
wasn t until 1978, however, that the FM programming had more listeners than the AM. In recent
years, radio has made even more developments that have made listening to your favorite music even
easier. With a simple internet connection, you can listen to streaming audio from almost any radio
station all over the world. A new trend in radio broadcasting is also the podcast. This is where
individuals put together a recording that resembles a radio show and then post it online for anybody to
listen to. In addition to these developments, there is also the creation of the subscription based radio
services. Sirius and XM radio are not controlled by federal regulations in the same way that normal
airwaves are governed. This gives both listeners and broadcasters more options to fit their listening
pleasure. Made popular

  • 2. An Example Of The Salt March An example of a non violent movement is the Salt March led by Mahatma Gandhi. This march happened in March 1930 in protest of the British rule. Thousands followed Gandhi for 240 miles to the sea. Mahatma Gandhi thought that by breaking the British Salt Act, that Indians cannot collect or sell salt, he could break the law without any violence. Because of the heavy taxes that the British positioned on salt there was a mass civil disobedience and support for the salt march all around India. Millions of civilians became involved and the British responded by arresting more than 60,000 of them. Gandhi declared the Salt March as the theme for his new campaign, Satyagraha or Civil Disobedience. Gandhi was released in 1931 and agreed to call of his campaign in exchange for a negotiation role in a conference in London regarding India s future. A non violent movement that occurred in 1919 was the protest against the Simon Commission. The Simon Commission was a group of 7 English men sent from England to report how the Indian Constitution was working. It was led by Sir John Simon and Clement Atlee, the future prime minister. In the modern day President Obama was one example, in 2008 the United States hit her worst recession in the past sixty years (Schmidt, Shelley, Bardes, 2010 2011). The President took a drastic move with the support of the Congress and passed the largest stimulus package in the history of the United States. According to government Authors Schmidt, Shelley, Bardes, the Congressional Budget Office argued the spending could lead to a federal government budget deficit of a $1.6 Trillion in 2009 (2010 2011). • 5. Dna, Gene Expression, And Basic Patterns Of Heredity Introduction This unit will focus on DNA, gene expression, and basic patterns of heredity. The main objective of this unit is to provide opportunities for students to learn general concepts that are associated with genetics and to create a better understanding of inheritance and its relationship to genetic diseases. According to standards set by the Next Generation Science Standards which are endorsed by the National Science Teachers Association, students should be able to analyze and interpret data to provide evidence that plants and animals have traits inherited from parents and that variation of these traits exists in a group of similar organisms. Additionally, students should be able to ask questions to clarify the role of DNA and chromosomes have in coding the instructions for characteristic traits passed from parents to offspring (NGSS, 2016). Students should have the opportunity to learn how genetics affects past generations as well as learn how genetics and inheritance influences our past, present, and future. Understanding even the simplest genetic cross requires combining inferences about two complex processes: how genetic traits are inherited through meiosis and mating, and how these traits interact to produce the external differences seen in parents and offspring. Students should also have opportunities to learn the basic concepts of genetics that provide an increased understanding of heredity, DNA, and specifically genetic diseases (MDE, 2010). • 6. What Are The Four Factors That Influence Ocean Currents... Answer the following questions using complete sentences. Each question is worth 4 points. 1. Describe four factors that influence ocean currents. Four factors that influence ocean currents are the Coriolis Effect, the climate, upwellings, and water density. 2. Explain how the Coriolis Effect impacts ocean currents. The Coriolis Effect draws the water moving towards the nearest pole to the east, and the water moving towards the equator to the west. This pull causes fluctuations in the ocean currents. 3. What is the relationship between ocean currents and climate? The climate affects the temperature of water which can cause fluctuation in currents because of the chemical properties of water. As colder water comes from the poles towards the equator, heat is transferred into the air, causing changes in wind patterns. This change in temperature causes a change in the density of the air. These changes move moisture in the air to different places, causing precipitation. This precipitation, along with as the correlating air currents, is what causes the transfer in heat that causes ocean currents. As the colder air, and thus water, moves towards the equator from the poles, ocean currents are formed that impact local climates. As currents bring differently heated water to shore, this warmer (or cooler) water can affect local air currents as it transfers energy form the water to the air, or vice versa. 4. ... • 7. Ethnic Differences Between Tutsi And Twa Essay Analysis Before the genocide, Rwanda demonstrated three major ethnic categories. Hutu constituted the majority of the population, accounting for some 85% of all native Rwandans. Tutsi and Twa, comprising approximately 14% and 1% of the population respectively, shared Rwanda with the Hutu majority. Between Hutu and Tutsi, there were no major differences in language, religion, or clanship. Traditionally, these ethnic distinctions related to occupation rather than traditional racial categories: The Hutu were generally identified as agriculturalists whereas the Tutsi were usually recognized as herdsmen. Prior to European colonialism and the subsequent issuing of racial identity cards during the 1930s, these identities were flexible Hutu could acquire livestock and Tutsi could practice agriculture. In the early 1900s, Dutch colonialists reorganized Rwandan society on the basis of Tutsi racial superiority. Hutu and Twa were recognized as historically indigenous populations whereas the Tutsi were believed to have migrated from either Ethiopia or the Middle East. Colonialists exaggerated the physical differences between Hutu and Tutsi, often mistakenly incorporating the pigmy Twa into these comparisons. In actuality, these constructed racial classifications were inconsistent and arbitrary. Unable to distinguish consistently between native Hutu and Tutsi, Dutch administrators eventually introduced means tested systems of ethnic recognition, by classifying any person ... But Australian teenagers need to wake up to the fact that they are consuming too much of it, the consequences it is having on their lives. Introduction Sugar tastes good, can be used for baking and is a quick source of energy; however what is the reality of eating sugar? In what way does it affect our bodies and minds to give a short boost of energy? According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, in Australia, 24.9% of adolescents between the ages of five and seventeen are overweight or obese (AustralianInstituteofHealthandWelfare, 2013). As the number of overweight teenagers in Australia continued to rise, researchers looked for a reason for these overwhelming numbers and discovered that Australian teenagers were consuming over 53kg of sugar each year, which is around 29 teaspoons of both natural and added sugar each day (Cowan, 2014). How is sugar digested? Sugar is a Carbohydrate and provides a source of energy in the body. It is the only source of energy for red blood cells and the brain. • 12. Animal Farm Submissions Marguerite Young, an American poet, novelist, biographer and critic, once said, If you understand hallucination and illusion, you don t blindly follow any leader. You must know if the person is sane or insane, over the abyss (Young 1). However, in the novel Animal Farm written by George Orwell, many of the farm animals blindly followed a leader regardless of what that leader did or said. These submissions lead to a lack of reasoning and thought behind the animal s actions. Orwell uses allusions, violence, and comparisons to delineate the theme that following leadership blindly will ultimately cause a society to fail. By being submissive to Napoleon, many animals were hurt and killed in battles. One of the worst battles fought was with the neighboring farmers, A cow, three sheep, and two geese were killed, and nearly everyone was wounded (Orwell 108). This battle was led by Napoleon and his close comrades. If the animals had thought of the potential consequences and not fought in the battle, many lives could have been saved. The death of Boxer is also an example of how negligence and blind leadership can cause harm to others. After being told that Boxer would be taken to a safe place by Napoleon, he was taken to a slaughter house, They are taking Boxer to the knacker s! (Orwell 123). If the animals had taken matters into their own hands, Boxer would have been protected. He would have not lost his life simply because Napoleon told a lie. Finally, Orwell writes how Boxer murdered a human because he told that it was the right thing to have a rebellion. Along with other animals, Boxer fought for the farm, He is dead, said Boxer sorrowfully. I had no intention of doing that (Orwell 58). Without this blind leadership to Snowball and the other animals on the farm, Boxer would not have harmed the boy. • 13. The Mormon Polygamy INTRODUCTION When one thinks about marriages or weddings in the United States, Americans may often reminiscence on two individuals tying the knot. However, in the western United States, and in parts of Canada, more and more people are practicing polygamy, which is the act of an individual marrying another person(s), after one already has a spouse. Although the practice is illegal, individuals within the Fundamental Latter Day Saints Church partake in the activity, as it is a divine part and calling of their religion. Other than that, there is not many resources or places available for the women that are seeking justice from the harmful communities they grew up in Short Creek. Although the Mormon Church used to promote polygamy in the 19th century, they do not practice polygamy, at least in this lifetime, according to Miller. They are two separate entities, and many people get confused by this. I have seen this from my own personal experiences, when I say that I have family from the state of Utah. Many people believe that all that there is to do in Utah is have more than one wife. After all, the book s tagline is one choice can destroy you. In Insurgent, all of Tris s decisions had main drawback, as she determined whether or not to enter risky situations, to fib to Tobias, and even to surrender herself. With so much on the line, Tris s choices involve not only her, but everybody around her. As the cycle goes on, option left just as important, but the stakes get upper and upper Division The entire group system is based around separating people up and creating diverse groups with limitations between them. Insurgent illustrates how these divisions generate an us vs. them attitude that eventually brings it to ruin. In this novel, schism also happen within these groups: Dauntless splits into faithful and conspirator, Abnegation is broken , Erudite imperfection from Jeanine and her following, and Johanna and other Amity tear from their section when they do not have the same point of view with the result to stay straightforward . These divisions are what eventually creates so much annihilation, and as Tris learns time and yet again that it is not possible to complete snooty goals when you are separated down in the center. • 15. The Need to Support and Assist Employees Throughout our career, we have been taught to check our personal problems at the door prior to starting our work shift. In other words, personal problems are exactly what it is, personal , and have no place in a work environment. In today s new economy, organizations are realizing the importance of providing assistance to employees dealing with major personal problems. At times, when an employee is having a personal problem at home, it can after their work performance and can potentially disrupt the work flow of the organization. Industrial and labor relations experts talk of a changing labor force and the need for employers to develop new polices in response to the changing needs of their employees, if they wish to remain competitive in an increasingly world economy (Kamerman Kahn, 1987, p. 2). I personally believe that employers should provide assistance and be supportive of their employees. Unfortunately many of us in the work force are presented with personal problems that are unforeseen. Organizations need to be open minded in regards to these isolated issues and provide support during the employee s difficult time. Emotions play a critical role in the success of every organization, yet many people in key decision making positions, leaders with outstanding technical skills, fail to understand the role emotions play in a work setting (Reece, Brandt, Howie, 2011, p. 190). • 18. Elizabeth Freeman Essay From the early 1740s to 1829, an African American woman lived and unexpectedly became an important woman in history. Even though most people never heard of her, what she did change how people look at other African Americans. She was born in the early 1740s to African parents, and she grew up as a slave with her sister Lizzie in Claverack, New York, which is about twenty miles south of Albany. Their owner was Pieter Hogeboom, who was the head of a wealthy Dutch American family. In 1735, Hogeboom s daughter Hannah married John Ashley, who was the son of one of the original proprietors permitted by the General Court of Massachusetts to organize settlements along the Housatonic River. Ashley, who was chairman at this meeting, set up a set of resolutions, which the first read Resolved, That mankind in a state of nature are equal, free, and independent of each other, and have a right to the undisturbed enjoyment of their lives, their liberty, and property (Rawls, pg. 188). This meeting was well noted by Bett. In 1780, George Mason, who was the author of the Virgina bill of rights and a plantation owner of 118 slaves, wrote: All men are by nature equally free and independent (Rawls, pg. 187). He was not thinking about the slaves though. He was thinking about white Americans, that they are equal to the British and should have the same rights as them. When other Virgina legislators saw this, they added Slaves, not being constituent members of our society, could never pretend to any benefit from such maxim (Rawls, pg. 187). • 19. Non Reciprocal Trade Arrangement Is Africa Growth And... The first RTA I chose to discuss is a Non Reciprocal Trade Arrangement called Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA). USTR.gov states, In 2013, U.S. goods imports from sub Saharan African under AGOA and the related GSP program totaled $26.8 billion, more than three times the amount in 2001, the first full year of AGOA trade. There are challenges for this agreement as the site later states, Exports of U.S. poultry have been effectively excluded from the South African market for 15 years due to a range of trade barriers and other measures. This agreement has potential to assist the African economy in numerous ways as the exports can create large revenue for Africa and can also provide employment opportunities. The difficulty lies with changing trade barriers that could begin to cause more products and materials to have higher taxes associated. The second RTA I chose is called Free Trade Area Agreement (FTAA). As export.gov states, The FTA includes a non binding statement of intent to eliminate barriers to trade in services such as tourism, communications, banking, insurance, management consulting, accounting, law, computer services, and advertising. The benefits are mutual and the United States has made tremendous profit on exports. The site later states, U.S. exports to Israel grew from $2.5 billion in 1985 to $11.3 billion in 2010. • 20. A Comparison of Exxon and Chevron Executive Summary Exxon and Chevron are no doubt some of the leading incorporated oil companies on the globe. Exxon Corp. is the second largest oil firm after Royal Dutch Shell, it is respected for getting the biggest revenue return in 2008 which no company in the U.S. have ever reported before. According to Wilson (2009) Chevron has managed to show a lot of profitability in the market despite the decease in its oil production. It graded as one of firms which made a billion dollars profit within a week in the period of July to September 2008. Regardless of profitability trends set by the two oil firms in the U.S. market, they have been facing financial decline like the rest of the companies in other industries. The two firms are like two sailing ships which are taking longer time to sink. In the last few years, the production capacity of Chevron and Exxon has decreased and their listings on the stock market have become weak. The continuation of construction and drilling which requires billions of dollars in expense of oil production might make them experience a bigger financial crisis (Wilson, 2009). Exxon and Chevron are so different in a number of ways. When you compare Chevron to Exxon, Chevron is a smaller firm. The ratios of Exxon are relatively larger than Chevron s. Nevertheless, Chevron has a got a wide net working capital and market ratio than its counterpart Exxon. This therefore, means that because its larger networking capital, Chevron needs a lot of money ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When delving into science fiction, it is often helpful to incorporate ideas from other works within the genre. This use of chapter quotations as well as the looping of the narrative could be interpreted to reflect Rumfoord s perception of time in that everything that ever has been always will be, and everything that ever will be always has been (20). There is also a significant amount of foreshadowing in that the novel is essentially outlined during Malachi s first meeting with Rumfoord. In The Dispossessed, time can be thought of in either a Sequential or Simultaneous manner. The Sequential school of thought is the more concrete, familiar version in that time flows in a linear progression. Simultaneity considers this linearity as not...a physically objective phenomenon, but as a subjective one (Le Guin 221). Shevek, the protagonist, makes use of an apt comparison to further describe the concept: It would be a little like reading a book, you see. The book is all there, at once, between its covers. But if you want to read the story and understand it, you must begin with the first page, and go forward, always in order. The Well-Known Story Of Narcissistic Myth The etiology of what is known today as Narcissistic Personality Disorder can be traced back to a time in which humans struggled to identify and define themselves in the world. The well known story of narcissus, for whom the term Narcissism and Narcissistic Personality Disorder is named after, first emerged around 8 A.D. The story goes into depth of how Narcissus, a Thespian, the son of the nymph Leiriope, developed a tenacious pride in his own beauty. A roman poet named Ovid tells the story of how Narcissus became fascinated and entranced by his own beautiful appearance in a clear spring for hours at a time in his narrative Metamorphoses. In Robert Grave s version of the story, The Greek Myths, he summarizes how Narcissus was pursued by heartlessly rejected lovers of both sexes and turned all of them down because he favored himself more (1955).
