The Pros And Cons Of Virtual Online Support Groups
In today s new technological age, Virtual Online Support Groups are enabling more people to get
mental health support without stepping inside a therapist s office. Online support groups are a
great alternative for those who may not be ready to attend a meeting in person, or cannot attend due
to meeting time, location, or distance. Connecting with others via the internetallows for a level of
anonymity. The author discusses what a support group is and the benefits and barriers of virtual
online support groups and the future of online support groups as it relates to health care. An online

War After Ww1 Research Paper
HOW DID THE FRENCH FEEL ABOUT WAR AFTER WWI?
The war had a damning effect on the French who felt as though, even though they won, the war
went against all of their morals. Because they felt as though their morals, the French called the
war la der des ders which translates to a war to end all wars , and declared they no longer wanted to
participate in war. This may have been also because they lost the largest number of people; 1 322

The Annees Folles occurred in the 1920 s, named this as that expression mean the crazy years,
referring to World War Ithat had ended in the November of 1918. During the 1920 s, the French
were still celebrating and remembering the end of the disastrous events that occurred for many
years, the war. From May 1920 to October 1921, there was also the Franco Turkish war; conflicts
fought between France (the French colonial force and the French Armenian Legion) and the
Turkish provisional government (the Turkish national forces). After WWI, the people were divided
by the concept of communism, where some wanted it, others didn t, and many other events that
made the French call the 1920 s the Annees Folles (Crazy Years).
WHY DID THE OPERETTA MOVEMENT APPEAL TO THE FRENCH?
Operetta is a comedic opera that grew overly in the 1920 s in countries such as France. This
entertainment appealed to the people of France as during the war a lot of men were lost, breaking
apart families and hearts. In this sad time, people needed something that lightened their spirits,
some turned to alcohol others turned to entertainment, hence this form of opera becoming one of

Zebra Mussel Population Analysis
The article states that the reasons to believe that, Zebra mussel population invasion cannot be
stopped, and it poses serious threats to fresh water fish population, and provides three reasons of
support. However, the professor explains that there are ways to control the Zebra population from
spreading to the another area and it could also stop threating the fishpopulation, and refutes each of
the author s reasons.
First, the reading posits that the Zebra mussel population is unstoppable. However, the professor
explains that the people in the past could not able to control the Zebra mussel population because
these people were not knowledgeable. He says that effective ways to control mussel population to
invade in another area would be stooping the ballast water to be empty in the North America
because the salt water could kill the Zebra mussel. This explains that we would stop the mussel
population to the North America. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The professor explains that the birds have been suitable for changing the habitat, and likely to
change their diet according to their food resources. He explains that birds start eating the mussels
and make them their diet. So, this explains that the Zebra mussel were not a dominate species.
Finally, the reading states that Zebra mussel are likely to cause decline overall fish habitat. The
professor refutes this point by saying that Zebra mussel would not decrease overall fish population.
He says that it would have negative effect on the population of a fish that eat plankton. However,
the fish that lies in the bottom of the sea, would have positive effect on fish

Age Of The Earth Research Paper
The debate about the age of the Earth has persisted for centuries! Some scientists try to disprove
Christians and some Christians try to disprove scientific evidence. Nevertheless, there is a
surprising number of Christians and scientists who have worked together to give their opinion
about the age of the Earth by using both Biblical and scientific facts. The purpose of this essay is
to succinctly describe both Old Earth and Young Earth viewpoints. My opinion about the matter
will follow, in which I will provide Biblical evidence to support my claims. Young Earth
Creationists (YEC) strongly believe that the time frame presented in the Bible is to be taken
literally. Therefore, the majority of YEC believe that the Earth is 6,000 to 10,000... Show more

I support the idea that the Earth is truly 4.6 billion years old because I believe that the Bible uses
the word days when discussing creation because we can wrap our brain around God s time
period. A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the
night. Psalm 90:4 (NIV). This verse sums up exactly what I believe: that God s time scale is
different than the time scale we experience, therefore, a day to us could easily be a thousand
years, or more to God. My next premise is that when God created the Garden of Eden and all of
the creatures of the Earth that the Garden of Eden was a very sacred place. Therefore, I believe
that very early humans, such as cavemen were created outside of the garden because God was
experimenting to see which specimen would be perfect for ruling the Earth. Though this
process of trial and error, God decided that he needed to create a man who possessed similar
qualities as He, because He is perfect. Then God said, Let us make man in our image, in our
likeness... Genesis 1:26 (NIV). Furthermore, I propose that it was the Great Flood that caused the
mass amount of dinosaurs to die. My theory is that once it began to rain, massive landslides began
occurring on the Earth s surface. It was these landslides that

Camera Angles In The Blind Side
The Blind Side is a movie about a young black boy named Michael who grew up in a rough area
with not much to look forward to. He always had to worry about being in danger, his family
doing drugs, and even being homeless, until one day he was at a high school volleyball game
picking up left over snacks from the bleachers when an upper class white family noticed him.
After the game, they saw him walking on the sidewalk along the road outside the school and
asked him where he was staying. He was planning on going to the gym where it was warm so
they offered to take him home for a warm and dry place to sleep. He took the offer and slept on the
couch, the family ended up getting him through high school and officially adopted him. He had big

No matter the condition around Michael he always seemed to overcome it. This theme is very
useful, not only in the movie but can be taken from the movie and could be used in others lives.
The movie all came together in the use of camera angles/shots, color, lighting, sounds/music,
and narration. Without any of these devises the movie wouldn t give off an emotional message
or the same message. Camera angles and shots were used throughout the movie to show emotion
because the movie is based on a true story. During the movie, they show flashbacks of cop cars
and Michael being taken away when he was just a young child because of the terrible things
going on around him, they showed these clips so that the audience would understand the
situation that Michael was in. The film maker also decided to put camera shots of the original
family so that the audience would feel more attached. Color was used throughout the film a lot
to show positive, and gloomy places. When Michael went back to the condo where his
biological mom lived, and where all the terrible things happened, there was a lot of blacks, greys,
and browns. When Michael was back at his adoptive family s house there was a lot of bright
colors used throughout the house making the house seem like a positive place. Another place that
was very positive was on the football field which was very bright and

Response To Intervention Chapter 1 Summary
Chapter two s main objective is to inform the reader with the definitions, details, and purposes of
the four critical aspects of educating students with disabilities, which include the importance of
collaboration among professionals, the IEP s, the LRE, and inclusive education (p. 45). The
chapter begins discussing some topics that are slightly related to the four critical aspects. The book
goes into the different techniques and programs that are associated with the prereferral process.
Response to Intervention was the process that the book decided to promote and discuss, and the
book decides to start the information here because it is the beginning of the process that most
general educators will face. Chapter two also informs readers on what multifactored evaluations are

General educators need to understand the purpose of each term, and this chapter provides a good
amount of information. The next topic is crucial for general education teachers because it discussed
the different styles and approaches of working with special education teachers in ways that will
benefit the students who need extra assistance. The book goes into greater detail on teaming, which
is expected because it is the most diverse strategies of those listed. Then the book dives into the
meat and potatoes of the chapter by discussing the requirements of an IEP. The team and
components are listed with the appropriate descriptions for each statement. Chapter two ends the
IEP section with some of the disadvantages and problems that past IEP s have occurred. This is
helping future educators with preventing the mistakes of the past. The least restrictive environment
and inclusion within a general education classroom are differentiated. This is crucial because
individuals tend to believe that those terms mean the same thing, but they are different

The Mass Media
It is common to believe that when reporting scientific studies the mass media is accurate in
reporting what the research presents in a condensed format while still maintaining accurate
information. However the two articles that will be presented will show that although it does present
information found in the researchthere are certain aspects that are changed. As Keith Grant Davie
stated before each rhetorical situation is shaped by its four constituents and the two articles below
will verify his findings which lead into why there are differences between the academic discourse
and the more popular discourse. Therefore by examining a research paper on the discovery of new
planets and its accommodating article from CNN we found how the... Show more content on

These differences are the result from the different rhetorical situations the two have since they have
different audiences, rhetors, constraints and exigence. Directly reinforcing Keith Grant Davey s
idea the audience of the two pieces are different and is one of the reasons why the differences are
there. The audience of the research paper are scientists who understand the terminology that is used
while for the CNN article it s the general audience, which explains the difference in length, tone and
jargon of each piece. For example, the exigence of the CNN article is to present the discovery
found in the research paper to the public in ways they would understand. So the article changed
the terminology of the piece, shortened its length so people would be more like to read it and
focused on the aspect that will most likely grab their attention which is about the possibility of the
planets to host life. In order to retain the audience s attention and appeal to them it s understandable
why they focused on that aspect much more than the methods the scientists used. Thus, to get the
audience engaged in the discourse the rhetor needed to inform the audience and appeal to them.
For the research paper the focus switched where most of the piece focuses on how they discovered
the planets. Since the audience of the piece would most likely be other scientists and professionals
who are interested in the

Taking a Look at Cassava
Cassava (Manihot esculenta) is a tuberous root crop that serves as a source of carbohydrate for
more than 800 million people worldwide and its cultivation is estimated to cover more than 18.9
million hectors (FAO, 2011). It is a vital source of food and income to resource poor farmers
(especially women) in the tropics and staple foodcrop for nearly 200 million people in the sub
Saharan Africa (Liu et al., 2011; Nyaboga et al., 2013). In Tanzania, cassavaranks only second to
maize and third to rice, with its calories contribution per day being 15 % (FAO 2009).
Cassava production in Africa is constrained with various pests and viral diseases especially
cassava brown streak and cassava mosaic diseases. Research efforts to genetically improve
resistance against viral diseases, drought, postharvest deterioration and nutrients fortification of
this crop are underway (Zang et al., 2005; Vanderschuren et al., 2009; Nyaboga et al., 2013). All
these efforts are through genetic transformation method which relies on the ability of cassava to
regenerate from somatic embryos to full plant. Due to heterozygozity nature of cassava, it is
difficult to use its zygotic embryos as starting materials for genetic transformation protocols
(Raemakers et al., 1997; Sarria et al., 2000; Taylor et al., 2001; Siritunga and Sayre 2003). Instead,
organised structures from somatic embryo cotyledons and friable embryogenic calli (FECs) have
been developed (Schöpke et al., 1996; Taylor et al., 2004). FECs

Lee Harvey Oswald’s Motives for killing President John F....
There have been many papers, books, and articles written on Lee Harvey Oswald s motives for
killing President John F. Kennedy. No one knows for sure exactly what motivated him in this
horrendous act, but there has been some speculation that a fatherless upbringing or his mental
health led the way in making him the most famous assassin of the twentieth century. Lee Harvey
Oswaldhad a rough childhood. He grew up without a father figure in his life so he was lacking
direction from the most important source (Biography: Lee Harvey Oswald ). His father died two
months before Oswald was born, leaving his mother with three small children. As a result, his
mother would frequently neglect and leave Lee with various babysitters (Diamond). These... Show

Oswald could be very violent at times and at one point Oswald had spoken about shooting an
American President (Oswald s Motive). His friend that he had talked to about this said that he
didn t say it jokingly. He was a very violent person and the Russian Г©migrГ© community from
Dallas reported that There is also clear evidence that Oswald...had a history of wife battering
(Oswald s Motive). During one fight, he actually tried to kill his wife by strangling her. What he
was trying to achieve through his violence was a warped form of control. While Oswald was a
violent person, there are also signs that he was also emotionally and mentally unstable, and even
his wife was scared for his mental state (Oswald s Motive). Dr. Steven Diamond says that
Oswald most likely could have been suffering from psychopathic narcissism (which is the
constant need to be admired) and that would have caused him to do what most of the young men
who commit such very public crimes seek: facile infamy (Diamond). This most likely was caused
by his overwhelming feeling of rejection from his parents and caretakers. Most likely all he
wanted was for someone to notice him and to gain immortality (Diamond). Another theory that is
put forward is that Lee Harvey Oswald was merely a patsy in some bigger conspiracy. Most
conspiracy theories follow along the lines that Oswald didn t commit the horrible crime, and
someone else did. When the authorities caught Oswald, he was going into a

The Importance Of Public Service Advertisements
Public service announcements, or PSA, are some of the most influential forms of
advertisements. In a darker colored advertisement posted by Ekburg.RU called Think of Both
Sides , it depicts an inside view of a family in the car with the father driving and distracted on the
phone. There are two passengers in the car his wife who is distracted by a map and their child.
The key component of this picture is that you can see their small child, who looks very innocent, in
their rear view mirrorand a child in front of their car clearly filled with fear. The piece is very
focused on the harms on the family s children and the child close to being hit, rather than the
distracted parents. According to The Association of Psychological Science, getting hit by a vehicle
is in the top three causes of deaths for children ages 5 to 9 (Why Kids Get Hit By Cars). The public
service announcementnot only displays the importance of paying attention to what is in front of
you, but also being aware of how your actions can harm others.
The first component, as well as the one that takes up the most space in the advertisement, is the
parents. With both the husband on the phone, looking at his wife and his wife holding a map,
reciprocating a look towards her husband, both are clueless to what is in front of them: a little
kid with fear taking over his face. The reason why the parents are not focused on the road could
be for the reasons that the man is on an important phone call as well as that they also needed
directions. Regardless of the reason, both are blind to the harms they are putting everyone in this
situation in. It is very clear that these adults did not consider their actions before doing them
because they probably never considered that it could have been their child in the situation the little
boy is in. The children are not at fault.
The second, and considerably largest, component in the advertisement is the children: the one
about to be struck by the car as well as the small child in the backseat of the car. It is safe to say
that both of these children are innocent people in the situation as they cannot control that the man
and woman are distracted. The child in front of the car is wearing a backpack and a nicer

Rhetorical Analysis Of Volkswagen
Over 17 million cars and trucks are sold around the world every year. Amongst the plethora of car
companies aiming to convince shoppers that their car is paramount, marketing teams ought to go
the extra mile. By developing a persuading advertisement, companies are more likely to sell their
products. On February 6, 2011, Volkswagenaired a Superbowl commercial for the first time in over
ten years. This commercial would be one that awakens the inner child of millions. By employing
pathos, ethos, and logos rhetorictechniques, Volkswagen is able to appeal to consumers in order to
sell their new car.
In the commercial, a young boy dressed as Darth Vaderfrom the Star Wars films struggles to use
the force on objects throughout his house. After ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By displaying the innocence of the boy, it might help families who watch the commercial relate
to their own children. Secondly, we see the mother in the commercial who appears slightly
irritated with her son since he s been trying all day. This character choice might help other parents
relate to a situation where they ve gotten annoyed when their child gets too involved with
pretending to do something. Finally, we see the father at the end of the commercial who wants to
assist his son when pretending to be Darth Vader. By showing a father who helps his son believe
he was successful with using the force, it demonstrates a loving and caring relationship. This might
make fathers who watch the commercial want to go out and buy the car to be that loving and
caring dad. The advertisement s stylistic choice is effective due to how they tell a story and use
supportive rhetorical techniques. First, Volkswagen does this by pulling people in with the
rhetorical technique of pathos. By creating a scenario within the advertisement which consumers
can relate to, the viewer tends to feel a sense of familiarity and emotional attachment. The scene in
the commercial that acts as the strong emotional trigger is the final scene where the young boy
uses the force on the car. Whether it s a parent watching the commercial or someone thinking back
to their own childhood, there s a way they can relate to it. For parent s watching the commercial,
they might imagine a

When the European settlers came over and started taking over the land, it served as a turning
point of the Ojibwe culture and the way that they practiced their ways. When the Europeans

that belonged to them their whole lives were being taken over by settlers that thought they
found the land. After they had moved, they were forced to start living the way that the new
settlers were. While the children were learning the new ways, the adults were as well. Oona s
father had gone to a lumber camp to work. He went to try and earn enough money to build the
kinds of houses that the new settlers had already built for themselves. The Native woman began
to learn the household needs, and the English language as well. They made clothes similar to the
new settlers, and even friended many of them. The way of life that they were once used to was
becoming just a speck in their memories. As the generation passes, Oona always remembered to

Irish Literature And Rebellion Essay
Irish Literature and Rebellion
In the heart of every Irishman hides a poet, burning with nationalistic passion for his beloved
Emerald Isle. It is this same passion, which for centuries, Great Britain has attempted to snuff out
of the Catholics of Ireland with tyrannical policies and the hegemony of the Protestant religion.
Catholics were treated like second class citizens in their native home. Centuries of oppression
churned in the hearts of the Irish and came to a boil in the writings and literature of the sons and
daughters of Ireland. The Literary Renaissance of Ireland produced some of the greatest writers the
world has seen. John O Leary said it best, literature must be national and nationalism must ... Show

Minor firms now market cell phone games as well as video content aimed specifically to be

The Fountainhead Movie And Book Comparison
The Fountainhead is an American black and white drama film which was released in 1949. It is an
adaptation of the novel called Fountainhead, written by Ayn Rand, who also wrote the screenplay
for the film.
Both the novel and the film rotate around the central character Howard Roark, who gets rusticated
from his university for having a very different train of thought and vision in architecture than what
his professors would deem him to have. He then voluntarily chooses to struggle rather than
compromise his foresight along with his creative and individual vision to practice modern
architecture; which he believes to be greater than the traditional and old school architecture and
train of thought. He thus he interacts and struggles with various people who help him or act as
barriers to his work and progress.
Ayn Rand grew up in the Soviet Union where all the citizens were ruled by a dictator, although she
always held her own and wished for political freedom and basic human rights. That is when he
wrote The Fountainhead. The protagonist of the story is Howard Roark who is an embodiment of
herself, what she wishes to be and how society keeps pulling him down as they cannot accept his
radical thoughts and creativity. Ayn states it, that her main theme in the book, individualism versus
collectivism is not in the political structure of the economy but in the minds of the human beings
living in it. Collectivism is the forced herding of men into a group, with the individual

illustrate that differentiation s among men and women s job selections could be considered for
virtually half of the genderpay gap. Increasing the minimum wagewill benefit those dedicated
women laborers by helping support their families. Two third of mothers are sole providers
within their households and these same women are the ones, who made up relatively two thirds
of all minimum salaried employees in the year 2012 (Glynn, Fisher Baxter, 2014). In 2014, the
minimum wage was only $7.25 an hour which means that a person, who works full time would
only bring in $15,080 over the course of a year. This is not enough for an individual, who has a
family to live on because in actuality it is barely enough for a single person to survive on. This
particular organization feels if the minimum wage is increased to at least $10.10 an hour, then it
would benefit around 15 millions women and also help narrow the pay gap that exists between
men and women. Secondly, the Center for American Progress Organization believes that
increasing the tipped minimum salary would close the gender pay gap, as well. The minimum tip
wage has not been altered since the year 1991 and it only rewards employees $2.13 a

Essay On White Rose Resistance

Evolution Of Anger

The Evolution of an Emotion to Which I Know as Anger
Born with a tabula rasa, or blank slate, emotions are experienced and learned from birth to old age.
In my case I had found a consistent and hugely developed emotion had been anger, from first
expressing and understanding the emotion, I learned much about it through adolescents and its
many combining purposes. Through the limbic system we are more likely to remember things that
are emotional, the hippocampus function being verbal memory and the amygdala being the
emotional memories center, and with the help of intersubjectivity to learn and understand emotions
we can begin to understand how anger was a major emotion to have developed memories and hold

development of my emotion for anger. Through theory of mind, understanding others have minds

Essay On Deepening Insolvency
Originally only a theory of damages, the term Deepening Insolvency refers to the wrongful
prolongation of a corporation s life beyond insolvency, thereby resulting in damage to the
corporation caused by increased debt, dissipation of assets, decreased reputation etc.
Insolvency is generally understood, from a balance sheet perspective, as a financial condition such
that the sum of the entity s debts is greater than the fair value of a company s assets. What
deepening insolvency cases have also focused on, however, is cash flow insolvency when a
company incurs debt that would be beyond its ability to pay in future years and low capital
insolvency when a company engages in a transaction or business that its capital base cannot
support. When an insolvent company and its creditors are harmed by a fraudulent act or negligence

In an article written by Sabin Willet, it was stated that a new loan, however onerous or ill
advised, can never deepen balance sheet insolvency. Every new loan involves an infusion of
capital that sets off the added debt so the insolvency remains the same, not deeper. Shareholders
are not injured by deepening insolvency; their injury is total upon the initial insolvency. The dead
cannot get deader. Although a corporation s creditors may be harmed by deepening insolvency, the
creditors are not the corporation; that they may suffer harm as a corporation s insolvency deepens
does not mean that the corporation does. If deepening insolvency were valid, a cause of action
would also have to exist for diminished solvency.
Not all cases agreed to the judgment of Lafferty case. In the judgment of In re Global Serv. Group

The Debate Over Organic Certification For Aquatic Animals
a) Becky Mansfield uses the debate over organic certification for aquatic animals (216) in order to
enlighten the inconsistency of the organic movement s ideas (230). The organic community creates
standards that are supported by their ideas, but when the ideas become inconsistent and
contradictory, it becomes very clear that their standards are not set up on stable grounds.
b) The article was written in 2004, two years after the first US National Organic Standards was
implemented (216). This would have given researchers and anyone involved in the agriculture
world enough time to investigate the basis for the organic movements standards, and to judge
whether or not the standards were consistent and fair.
2) Purpose of the article
Becky Mansfield is arguing that it is difficult to distinguish whether a product of agriculture can
have organic status or not. She has observed the debate over organic certification for aquatic
animals (216) from every angle, and believes that the organic movement holds contradictory
ideologies. These contradictions act as blockages for the attribution of organic status to wild fish,
because the fish do not fall in any of the categories that the organic movement considers suitable
for organic status. But as Becky expresses a dialogue between the organic movement and others
involved in all realms of agriculture, it becomes obvious that it is not a problem of the inherent
environments of the fish, but a problem of classification of the

State A Claim For Tortious Interference With A Prospective...
To state a claim for tortious interference with a prospective business advantage under Maryland
law, a plaintiff must allege: 1.intentional and willful acts; 2.calculated to cause damage to the
plaintiff in her lawful business; 3.done with the unlawful purpose to cause such damage and loss,
without right or justifiable cause on the part of the defendants (which constitutes malice); and

Exchange Theory In Mate Selection
The Role of Exchange and Rational Choice Theory in Mate Selection
Zenobia C. Wright
Florida A M University
Abstract
The goal of this paper is to give readers a better understanding of the Exchange Theory, as well as
Rational Choice Theory. To do this, we demonstrate how the typical scenario of mate selection for a
romantic relationship in today s society involves trading things one may personally value for
something that they feel is of equal value that the other person in the relationship possesses. We
will pay particular attention to the connection of exchange theory in interracial relationships
between blacks and whites. This is what we call the Exchange Theory. While also seeking to select
a mate, in our minds, we calculate the things that we like and dislike about the person. Although
subconsciously done, we are constantly making a list of pros and cons of things we value and
object in the other person. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What is Exchange Theory? Exchange Theory is a way of thinking created for the purpose of
describing and explaining assumptions, procedures, and outcomes of social exchange. According
to Segre (2014), the focus of the Exchange theory is directed towards corresponding duty created
by social actors when exchanging resources. In simpler terms, the Exchange Theory asserts that
people s behaviors and the choices that they make are all made for the purpose of and intent to
achieve a desired personal goal while also maximizing or making the most out of that opportunity
for themselves. George C. Homans developed the Exchange Theory in his work Social Behavior as
Exchange . Here, Homans attempted to explain the relationship between actors who are in direct

Essay Comparing My Last Duchess And My Ex-Husband
My Last Duchess, written by Robert Browning, is simply about a male who was not specially
treasured by his, now dead, spouse. The parody of Browning s poem, My Ex Husband, written
by Gabriel Spera, is in a woman s point of view pondering on a past relationship where she felt
she was not properly respected. In both poems, the speakers are reflecting on past relationship
conflicts pertaining to the importance they had in their spouse s lives. The speakers in My Last
Duchess and My Ex Husbandeach have different personalities and values, which prompts each
individual to react in different ways.
In Browning s poem, My Last Duchess, the speaker is concerned with the rank of importance he
acquires in his wife s life. The speaker s personality comes off as angry, self centered, and greatly
annoyed. One time the speaker portrays these an annoyed quality is when he stated as if she
ranked my gift of a nine hundred years old name with anybody s gift (Browning, 33 34). The
speaker s spouse was brought equal amounts of joy by marriage as she was by the little things in life.

Today s digital technology and the computer have changed how the average consumer can
acquire information and entertainment. No longer do we have to wait for the CD to hear a new
song, or the release date to watch a movie. The technology is available on our home computers.
But is this an infringement on copyright? What about the rights of artists, authors, producers, or
actors? Has our technology progressed so far that it infringes on these peoples livings? It is only a
matter of time before laws are passed regarding Internet use. Are we ready to give up the freedom

chip is full you can buy a new one or record over the old one. Sony just came out with a product
called The Memory Stick this year. They plan to use it with their MP3 players as well as digital
cameras, and other products in the future. It is a memory chip that is compatible between the
products, so you only need one format of memory if you use their products. The CD Rom and CD
Rom rewritable are also popular products. These hook up to your computer and allow you to copy

According to Pamela Samuelson the possibility exists that all this could soon change. In her essay,

Although this is a controversial novel due to the fact that it contains a number of graphic scenes,
I believe that it puts out a very important message. Throughout this novel, the main character,
Lisbeth Salander, represents an abuse victim who has experienced great tragedy. I appreciate the
fact that the author wrote about an abuse victim and educated the general public on the fact that
women do get abused and sexually mistreated, and that it happens more often than many of us
would like to think. It is important for influential sources, such as novels who reach a large
audience, to discuss themes that are sometimes overlooked. The more people understand that
abuse does occur, and frequently, the larger the awareness will become regarding the situation
and abuse victims. This novel also has an aspect of feminism at times. Larsson created a woman
who had been through so much and showed that not only was she was able to take control of
many aspects of her life, but, she was also able to overcome a multitude of negative relationships.
It is very empowering for a woman to read about another woman standing up for herself and
coming out the winner. This book portrays the main character as a strong female, which I find to
be very beneficial in positively influencing a woman s opinion of herself and her

The Ten Commandments And The Commandments
The Ten Commandments were given to the Israelites by Moses in the Old Testament, but they are
still important for Christians today. Many people debate over whether the Old Testament laws are
still applicable to Christians. The Ten Commandments are part of God s moral law, and they are
repeated in different locations in the New Testament. They are given to believers by God to show
us how to have a right relationship with Him and with others. However, our sinful nature makes it
impossible for us to be able to uphold the Ten Commandments, and the Ten Commandments show
us how sinful we truly are. This shows us our need for a savior. As believers, we have the Holy
Spirit dwelling inside of us, and that is the only way our actions are pleasing to God. It is
important that we try to implicate the Ten Commandments in our lives by the power of the Holy
Spirit.
The first commandment is you shall have no other gods before Me. (Exodus 20:3). This clearly
shows that God is monotheistic, and the idea that there are many ways to get to God is absurd.
Man s sinful nature does not want to accept the fact that there is one God that is absolute and all
powerful. This is because mankind does not want to be held accountable for sin, and mankind s
very nature is to rebel against God. This is best seen in a quote by Friedrich Nietzsche, who is the
philosopher that claimed that God is dead. He joked, one of the gods announced one day, There is
only one God. Thou shalt have no other

Taking a Look at Neurotransmitter Release
Neurotransmitter release is a key step to neuro transmission, in the middle of the 20th century; it
has been clearly revealed that chemical signals transfer the great majority of the information in the
brain. Therefore, different neurochemistry approaches have been emerged to investigate
neurotransmitter release process. Later, introducing a radiolabeled precursor into the CNS and
measuring the accumulation of a radiolabeled product have made critical improving and
developing in vitro preparations approaches including isolated nerve ending fractions or
synaptosomes, cultured cells and tissue slices. However, in this study we focused on the use of brain
slices, as well as intact structure giving a close picture of th in vivos situation. The tissue slice
method was introduced by Warburg in 1920s to investigate the energy metabolism of tissues slice
and Henry McIlwain extended it to study brain metabolism. Currently, slices structure is an
accepted technique for studying many aspects of neurobiology. Slices are made using a mechanical
device, such as a tissue chopper or vibrato me. Subsequently, they are immediately transferred into
cold carbongenated iso osmotic salt solution. Tissue slices are used with and without radiolabeled
tracers dependent on the case of studies. Subsequently they are transferred into small chamber and
superfused 1 hour with fresh carbongenated medium to achieve stability. Following equilibration

The United States Collective Identity
A true basis of what it means to be an American can be thoroughly argued on the grounds of what
constitutes an American, is an American born or is an American made? The collective identity of
the American populace is the shared characteristics, the same drive, which ultimately results in
oneness. The unique American cultural identity is the shared revolutionary nature, which drives
Americans toward progressive social changes. The original thirteen coloniesfaced a rather odd
situation in their nascent years. Far enough away from Britain to not completely live under their
control, the colonies began to form a new way of defining themselves. Rather than simply being
British colonies they wanted to act as a sovereign nation in their own right. Fearful of the colonies
gaining too much power the British government implemented a set of Acts, such as the Intolerable
Act and the Stamp Act, with the intention of them limiting the colonies freedoms and smothering
any chance of rebellion. However, the colonist took this as an act of oppression instead and rose
above it in order to regain their personal freedoms. They felt that their society had plateaued into
mediocrity under the rule of King George as they didn t have protected rights (The American
Pageant, 126 133). In the hopes of ridding themselves of the British rule war broke out, the crude
colonist soldiers fighting against the well polished British army, something revolutionary all in
itself as it has never been done

Population Growth In Australia
Current population and annual rate of increase and decline (BITRE REPORT 2015)
POPULATION
It is important to factor in the coastal settlements which are connected to the city centre as they are
homogenous and account for a fluid population of travellers and workers.
Gold Coast SA4 was 1st as the largest contributor to Queensland s population growth between June
1991 and June 2013, contributing 17.2%, followed by Sunshine Coast (10.0%) with Brisbane South
at 16th Regional Population Growth, Australia, 2014 15 )which focused demand for development in
the South East Queensland area. The impact of this growing population is magnified because
people are using more resources per person. These population pressures have implications for our

The Origins Of The Internet And Future Developments
The Origins of the Internet and Future Developments
Tamara Smith
Southern New Hampshire University
IT 505The internet has grown from a few nodes to a massive interconnecting system that helped to
connect millions of people. The global reach of the internet and its ability to expand at an
exponential rate, makes the internet one of the biggest tools created for commercial use. This paper
will focus on how the internet was started and how it has developed since the start, growing and
changing from the ARPANETinto the internet of today. The internet has developed since its
conception to include not only computers but mobile devices as well to connect people and expand
the global presence for businesses and their ability to reach millions through online advertisements
and sales. The internet was started as a concept with the help of the government to help the flow of
communication to the computer science research community.
J.C.R. Licklider of MIT was the first person to describe that social interaction could be achieved
through networking. He wanted the world to become interconnected by set of computers through
which everyone could access data and programs (PBS, 1999). Licklider worked for the DARPA
program has a lead computer researcher in 1962. While working at DARPA he convinced Ivan
Sutherland, Bo Taylor, and Lawrence Roberts of the importance of his networking idea (Strickland,
2008). In 1964 Leonard Kleinrock published the first book on packet

Analysis Of The Movie Iceman The Neanderthal
Neanderthal Prejudice
Elizabeth Armistead When humans encounter other humans, we tend to treat them differently.
Whether it s because of cultural barriers, language barriers, or something as trivial as skin color,
we view some people differently than we view those who share our ethnicity, culture, and values.
This is referred to as racism or prejudice and it is still an active problem in the world today. But
although people can differ greatly when it comes to culture or appearance, we share most of our
genes. Our closest related (and now extinct) ancestor, the Neanderthal, can be viewed in similar
terms. Their culture differed from ours now as modern humans, but surprisingly the genomes of
humans and Neanderthals are 99.84% identical (Gibbons). However, based on our history of bias, if
Neanderthals were alive today, we would no doubt treat them differently, if not inferior, to modern
humans.
In the movie Iceman the Neanderthal, Charlie, was caged in a room that resembled a natural terrain
while he was subject to the studies that were performed on him including the monitoring of his
speech patterns. But in this movie, he was portrayed as very human like and had multiple
interactions with Dr. Shephard, an anthropologist who also became his friend. Dr. Shephard and
Dr. Brady represented the two angles from which treatment of a Neanderthal in today s world
could be perceived. Dr. Shephard, who is a scientist, was very interested in the behaviors of
Charlie. But he was more

Fabrication And Characterization Of Scaffold From Keratin...
Fabrication and characterization of scaffold from Keratin/Alginate blend for tissue engineering
application 3. Result and Discussion: 3.1. Compatibility and structural analysis: The miscibility
property of keratin and alginate was studied by applying X ray diffractometer and Fourier
Transform Infrared Spectroscopy. The XRD spectra of blends were compared to the control
spectra of native keratin and native alginate as mentioned in Figure 1. In XRD spectra, the
native keratin and native alginate give a highest intensity at near 7543 and 4100 at about 19В°
and 14В° angle of 2Оё, respectively [17 19]. The spectra of keratin/alginate blends prepared at a
ratio of 10:90, 30:70 and 50:50 gives a highest intensity peak 3573, 5128 and 3264 at 22В°,
6.8В° and 7.1В° angle of 2Оё respectively. The XRD spectra of all blend ratios gives a new peak
in between 6В° 8В° angle of 2Оё which is not present in the spectra of native keratin and alginate,
this depict that the structure of native keratin and alginate become altered and form a new
structural pattern in blend form. The XRD spectra of blend scaffold revealed that the intensity of
blend has transformed as compared to the control XRD spectra which confirm that the
compatibility exists in between keratin and alginate. Several works are reported in which
compatibility between blend components was examined by XRD. For example, Tian et al. [20]
performed the XRD study to identify the interaction between soy protein and agar. The
compatibility between

Ear Acupuncture Essay
Auricular or ear acupuncture has been around for a very long time. It is also known as
Auriculotherapy or acupressure. Dr. Paul Nogier, a Frenchman, developed this form of acupuncture
in 1957. Dr. Nogier is considered the, ...father of modern ear acupuncture (Gori). There were also
reports of ear acupuncturebeing used in, ... Ancient Egypt, Rome, Greece and all [of] the
Mediterranean area (Gori). All of the different systems of acupuncture, originated in China around
500 B.C from the book, the Yellow Emperor s Classic of Internal Medicine. This book implied that
there were six yang meridians that were attached to the auricle of the ear. The names for the
auricular points were not always what they are now. The names from, Chinese and French auricular
acupuncture points were used for many years until in 1990 the World National Organization
conducted an international meeting and standardized the auricular anatomical names (IBT Staff

The Changes in Law Enforcement
The Changes in Law Enforcement All together law enforcement has changed, but few see the
drastic changes that have happened. Everyday, police and sheriffs are working to keep the people
in their community safe. With improved technological advances and social changes, police and
sheriffs are keeping a closer eye on things today. For example, improved weapons such as tasers
have helped keep suspects safe, computers in policecruisers allow instant access of information of
individuals. Other social changes, such as women allowed to join the police forces have helped
law enforcement a lot with domestic violence cases because they are calmer then most men. No

Many of the changes had been needed for years, but were never addressed. The king beating and
trial set in motion overdue reforms in the LAPD and that had a ripple effect of law enforcement
throughout the country (Deutsch). Since this had such a major effect on the lapd in almost
destroyed their reputation. The Rodney King beating almost destroyed the reputation of the Los
Angeles Police Department. In the aftermath of the Rodney king beating a lot of things changed
with police on the field. In the wake of the Rodney king case; cameras became standard
equipment in patrol cars all over the nation (Marcou). In doing this police now cannot cover up
an incident that they were a part of. As far as citizens recording police, there is still much
disagreement about how it should be handled (Marcou). Nowhere in the constitution does it say
the citizens cannot film stuff that is happening outside their house. When it comes to training,
officers are told have your camera going at all times. A professional police officer has nothing to
fear from being recorded and always act as if you are being recorded, because in today s world you
probably are (Marcou). Thanks to cases like Rodney Kings, law enforcement is much more aware
of misuse of force in the field. Guns and other equipment in an officer s arsenal play a key role in
the officers safety as well as the safety of others

Steak В‘n Shake Executive Summary: Steak В‘n Shake was founded in Normal, Illinois in 1934
by Gus Belt. Mr. Belt converted his gas station and Shell s Chicken into a hamburger stand. The
restaurant opened its doors with several things in mind; first Belt s special focus was on customer
service and second he wanted the food he made to be fresh. Today, Steak В‘n Shake continues to
focus on providing the customer the best dining experience, with freshly prepared foods. Their
commitment to the marketplace is stated in their Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, Steak В‘n

Consumers unaware of the diner style atmosphere and quality food will not be willing to pay
more or wait longer for the dining experience. Steak В‘n Shake may not be a restaurant appealing
to the health conscious consumer. One original single Steak burger with cheese has 33 grams of
fat, which is 51% of the daily allowance. A hand dipped regular vanilla milkshake consists of 664
calories and 35 grams of fat, which is 54% of the recommended daily allowance. Opportunities:
Currently, Steak В‘n Shake has 445 restaurants in 20 states. By 2010 they estimate having over
1000 restaurants nationwide. The additional 550 restaurants will increase the brand recognition and
develop brand loyalty. In 2008, they are planning the addition of healthier menu items. Steak В‘n
Shake hopes to capture the health conscience consumer that may not currently be a patron of the
restaurant. Steak В‘n Shake s involvement in the community may generate additional revenues and
raise consumers awareness. They support local communities by sponsoring educational sporting
events and advertising in school yearbooks. Steak В‘n Shake also donates gift certificates to non

The Immune System Of The Human Body
Immune System
Monica Salazar
BIO1021
Dr. Kimberly Snead McDaniel
South University Online
We are examining the role the immune system plays within the general day to day operation of the
human body. Further examination of the impaired immune system s profound negative impact on
the whole body system, will also be delineated. The human body has structures and processes inside
the body that defend against infection and additional harmful foreign bodies. When working
appropriately, the immune system detects a diversity of dangers, such as foreign bodies like bacteria,
viruses, and parasites, and attacks them, leaving the healthy body tissue alone. The immune system
also creates safeguards for the body to prevent disruptions of body processes by new pathogens,
traumas, and mutations. There are major components that makes up the immune system spread
throughout the body. The major organs involved in the body s immune response are the: bone
marrow, thymus, circulatory, lymphatic system, dermis and mucosal tissues that work together in
varied and complex interactions to provide the body with immune functions.
The lymphatic system produces and stores cells that helps the body battle infection and diseases.
The lymphatic system contains the following components: bone marrow, thymus, spleen, and
lymph nodes. The lymph system allows the body to move fluids and cells outside the blood and
circulatory system. The lymph system is the most important passageway

Management has asked the human resources department to provide information for the current
department business systems and subsystems such as: the name of the system, how the systems
work together for that department, what information is contained in the system and what security is
used for that part of the system. The human resources department will research different business
software systems and provide information on a new and secure business software system that will
be needed to replace the current system.
Riordan is currently using an HRIS system that was installed in 1992 as part of a package system
that the financial department is using. The system uses data retrieved from specialized forms and a
subsystem of excel spreadsheets. The forms are used by managers and the employee relation
specialists. The forms used by managers include employees personal information, pay rate, tax
information, date hired, seniority date, vacation time, and organizational information. The

Ovarian Torsion Research Paper
Ovarian Torsion The ovaries are small organs that produce eggs in women. Ovarian torsion is
when an ovary becomes twisted and cuts off its own blood supply. This causes the ovary to
swell, which can be painful. Ovarian torsion can happen at any age, and is usually caused by
having an enlarged ovary. Ovarian torsion is a painful medical emergency. It must be treated
quickly. If too much time has passed, blood flow to the ovary may not be restored and the ovary
may have to be removed. CAUSES This condition is usually caused by having an ovary that is
larger than normal. An enlarged ovary is more likely to twist. An ovary can become enlarged

Good Online Guitar Lessons For My Nephew
It was few months ago that I was searching for some good online guitar lessons for my nephew. I
think I must have scanned all possible avenues on the internet for that. If some had good textual
content, they didn t have video and audio, and if they had good video the tutor wouldn t be good
and so on. I thought that since internet is such a massive resource, I would definitely find some
good online guitarlessons for free for him. But to my disappointment I didn t find what I was
looking for. Each one had one or the other draw back. When you are looking forward to learning
any thing, the most important aspect that you should look for is a good instructor or an
authentic guidance and the next thing that you should consider is how well the course is
structured or arranged, this is also very important. So, unless the arrangement of the course is
logical and in the right order, you will end up learning it half baked or incomplete. Since my
nephew was on a tight budget, he was looking for something that was free, but I discovered it the
hard way that nothing in this world is free and if at all someone is offering anything for free, you
have to compromise on the quality. So I decided to check out the paid guitar lessons one by one.
Since almost all of the courses offered free lessons for sampling it was easy for me to choose the
best amongst them. But the problem with most of the courses was, they would only send each
lesson one by one each day for us to check out, which

  • 3. War After Ww1 Research Paper HOW DID THE FRENCH FEEL ABOUT WAR AFTER WWI? The war had a damning effect on the French who felt as though, even though they won, the war went against all of their morals. Because they felt as though their morals, the French called the war la der des ders which translates to a war to end all wars , and declared they no longer wanted to participate in war. This may have been also because they lost the largest number of people; 1 322 000 WHO FELT A SHIFT IN POSITION FROM STAYING AT HOME TO BECOMING INDEPENDENT AFTER BEING A LEFT ALONE DURING THE WAR? After WWI, the people were divided by the concept of communism, where some wanted it, others didn t, and many other events that made the French call the 1920 s the Annees Folles (Crazy Years). WHY DID THE OPERETTA MOVEMENT APPEAL TO THE FRENCH? Operetta is a comedic opera that grew overly in the 1920 s in countries such as France. Zebra Mussel Population Analysis The article states that the reasons to believe that, Zebra mussel population invasion cannot be stopped, and it poses serious threats to fresh water fish population, and provides three reasons of support. However, the professor explains that there are ways to control the Zebra population from spreading to the another area and it could also stop threating the fishpopulation, and refutes each of the author s reasons. First, the reading posits that the Zebra mussel population is unstoppable. However, the professor explains that the people in the past could not able to control the Zebra mussel population because these people were not knowledgeable. He says that effective ways to control mussel population to invade in another area would be stooping the ballast water to be empty in the North America because the salt water could kill the Zebra mussel. This explains that we would stop the mussel population to the North America. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Age Of The Earth Research Paper The debate about the age of the Earth has persisted for centuries! Some scientists try to disprove Christians and some Christians try to disprove scientific evidence. Nevertheless, there is a surprising number of Christians and scientists who have worked together to give their opinion about the age of the Earth by using both Biblical and scientific facts. The purpose of this essay is to succinctly describe both Old Earth and Young Earth viewpoints. My opinion about the matter will follow, in which I will provide Biblical evidence to support my claims. Young Earth Creationists (YEC) strongly believe that the time frame presented in the Bible is to be taken literally. Therefore, the majority of YEC believe that the Earth is 6,000 to 10,000... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I support the idea that the Earth is truly 4.6 billion years old because I believe that the Bible uses the word days when discussing creation because we can wrap our brain around God s time period. A thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night. Psalm 90:4 (NIV). This verse sums up exactly what I believe: that God s time scale is different than the time scale we experience, therefore, a day to us could easily be a thousand years, or more to God. My next premise is that when God created the Garden of Eden and all of the creatures of the Earth that the Garden of Eden was a very sacred place. Therefore, I believe that very early humans, such as cavemen were created outside of the garden because God was experimenting to see which specimen would be perfect for ruling the Earth. Though this process of trial and error, God decided that he needed to create a man who possessed similar qualities as He, because He is perfect. Then God said, Let us make man in our image, in our likeness... Genesis 1:26 (NIV). Furthermore, I propose that it was the Great Flood that caused the mass amount of dinosaurs to die. Response To Intervention Chapter 1 Summary Chapter two s main objective is to inform the reader with the definitions, details, and purposes of the four critical aspects of educating students with disabilities, which include the importance of collaboration among professionals, the IEP s, the LRE, and inclusive education (p. 45). The chapter begins discussing some topics that are slightly related to the four critical aspects. The book goes into the different techniques and programs that are associated with the prereferral process. Response to Intervention was the process that the book decided to promote and discuss, and the book decides to start the information here because it is the beginning of the process that most general educators will face. General educators need to understand the purpose of each term, and this chapter provides a good amount of information. The next topic is crucial for general education teachers because it discussed the different styles and approaches of working with special education teachers in ways that will benefit the students who need extra assistance. The book goes into greater detail on teaming, which is expected because it is the most diverse strategies of those listed. Then the book dives into the meat and potatoes of the chapter by discussing the requirements of an IEP. The team and components are listed with the appropriate descriptions for each statement. Chapter two ends the IEP section with some of the disadvantages and problems that past IEP s have occurred. This is helping future educators with preventing the mistakes of the past. • 9. The Mass Media It is common to believe that when reporting scientific studies the mass media is accurate in reporting what the research presents in a condensed format while still maintaining accurate information. However the two articles that will be presented will show that although it does present information found in the researchthere are certain aspects that are changed. As Keith Grant Davie stated before each rhetorical situation is shaped by its four constituents and the two articles below will verify his findings which lead into why there are differences between the academic discourse and the more popular discourse. Therefore by examining a research paper on the discovery of new planets and its accommodating article from CNN we found how the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These differences are the result from the different rhetorical situations the two have since they have different audiences, rhetors, constraints and exigence. Directly reinforcing Keith Grant Davey s idea the audience of the two pieces are different and is one of the reasons why the differences are there. The audience of the research paper are scientists who understand the terminology that is used while for the CNN article it s the general audience, which explains the difference in length, tone and jargon of each piece. For example, the exigence of the CNN article is to present the discovery found in the research paper to the public in ways they would understand. So the article changed the terminology of the piece, shortened its length so people would be more like to read it and focused on the aspect that will most likely grab their attention which is about the possibility of the planets to host life. In order to retain the audience s attention and appeal to them it s understandable why they focused on that aspect much more than the methods the scientists used. Thus, to get the audience engaged in the discourse the rhetor needed to inform the audience and appeal to them. For the research paper the focus switched where most of the piece focuses on how they discovered the planets. Since the audience of the piece would most likely be other scientists and professionals who are interested in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Taking a Look at Cassava Cassava (Manihot esculenta) is a tuberous root crop that serves as a source of carbohydrate for more than 800 million people worldwide and its cultivation is estimated to cover more than 18.9 million hectors (FAO, 2011). It is a vital source of food and income to resource poor farmers (especially women) in the tropics and staple foodcrop for nearly 200 million people in the sub Saharan Africa (Liu et al., 2011; Nyaboga et al., 2013). In Tanzania, cassavaranks only second to maize and third to rice, with its calories contribution per day being 15 % (FAO 2009). Cassava production in Africa is constrained with various pests and viral diseases especially cassava brown streak and cassava mosaic diseases. Research efforts to genetically improve resistance against viral diseases, drought, postharvest deterioration and nutrients fortification of this crop are underway (Zang et al., 2005; Vanderschuren et al., 2009; Nyaboga et al., 2013). All these efforts are through genetic transformation method which relies on the ability of cassava to regenerate from somatic embryos to full plant. Due to heterozygozity nature of cassava, it is difficult to use its zygotic embryos as starting materials for genetic transformation protocols (Raemakers et al., 1997; Sarria et al., 2000; Taylor et al., 2001; Siritunga and Sayre 2003). Instead, organised structures from somatic embryo cotyledons and friable embryogenic calli (FECs) have been developed (SchГ¶pke et al., 1996; Taylor et al., 2004). FECs ... • 11. Lee Harvey Oswald’s Motives for killing President John F.... There have been many papers, books, and articles written on Lee Harvey Oswald s motives for killing President John F. Kennedy. No one knows for sure exactly what motivated him in this horrendous act, but there has been some speculation that a fatherless upbringing or his mental health led the way in making him the most famous assassin of the twentieth century. Lee Harvey Oswaldhad a rough childhood. He grew up without a father figure in his life so he was lacking direction from the most important source (Biography: Lee Harvey Oswald ). His father died two months before Oswald was born, leaving his mother with three small children. As a result, his mother would frequently neglect and leave Lee with various babysitters (Diamond). These... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Oswald could be very violent at times and at one point Oswald had spoken about shooting an American President (Oswald s Motive). His friend that he had talked to about this said that he didn t say it jokingly. He was a very violent person and the Russian Г©migrГ© community from Dallas reported that There is also clear evidence that Oswald...had a history of wife battering (Oswald s Motive). During one fight, he actually tried to kill his wife by strangling her. What he was trying to achieve through his violence was a warped form of control. While Oswald was a violent person, there are also signs that he was also emotionally and mentally unstable, and even his wife was scared for his mental state (Oswald s Motive). Dr. Steven Diamond says that Oswald most likely could have been suffering from psychopathic narcissism (which is the constant need to be admired) and that would have caused him to do what most of the young men who commit such very public crimes seek: facile infamy (Diamond). This most likely was caused by his overwhelming feeling of rejection from his parents and caretakers. Most likely all he wanted was for someone to notice him and to gain immortality (Diamond). Another theory that is put forward is that Lee Harvey Oswald was merely a patsy in some bigger conspiracy. Most conspiracy theories follow along the lines that Oswald didn t commit the horrible crime, and someone else did. When the authorities caught Oswald, he was going into a ... • 12. The Importance Of Public Service Advertisements Public service announcements, or PSA, are some of the most influential forms of advertisements. In a darker colored advertisement posted by Ekburg.RU called Think of Both Sides , it depicts an inside view of a family in the car with the father driving and distracted on the phone. There are two passengers in the car his wife who is distracted by a map and their child. The key component of this picture is that you can see their small child, who looks very innocent, in their rear view mirrorand a child in front of their car clearly filled with fear. The piece is very focused on the harms on the family s children and the child close to being hit, rather than the distracted parents. According to The Association of Psychological Science, getting hit by a vehicle is in the top three causes of deaths for children ages 5 to 9 (Why Kids Get Hit By Cars). The public service announcementnot only displays the importance of paying attention to what is in front of you, but also being aware of how your actions can harm others. The first component, as well as the one that takes up the most space in the advertisement, is the parents. With both the husband on the phone, looking at his wife and his wife holding a map, reciprocating a look towards her husband, both are clueless to what is in front of them: a little kid with fear taking over his face. The reason why the parents are not focused on the road could be for the reasons that the man is on an important phone call as well as that they also needed directions. Regardless of the reason, both are blind to the harms they are putting everyone in this situation in. It is very clear that these adults did not consider their actions before doing them because they probably never considered that it could have been their child in the situation the little boy is in. The children are not at fault. The second, and considerably largest, component in the advertisement is the children: the one about to be struck by the car as well as the small child in the backseat of the car. It is safe to say that both of these children are innocent people in the situation as they cannot control that the man and woman are distracted. By displaying the innocence of the boy, it might help families who watch the commercial relate to their own children. Secondly, we see the mother in the commercial who appears slightly irritated with her son since he s been trying all day. Finally, we see the father at the end of the commercial who wants to assist his son when pretending to be Darth Vader. By showing a father who helps his son believe he was successful with using the force, it demonstrates a loving and caring relationship. This might make fathers who watch the commercial want to go out and buy the car to be that loving and caring dad. The advertisement s stylistic choice is effective due to how they tell a story and use supportive rhetorical techniques. First, Volkswagen does this by pulling people in with the rhetorical technique of pathos. By creating a scenario within the advertisement which consumers can relate to, the viewer tends to feel a sense of familiarity and emotional attachment. The scene in the commercial that acts as the strong emotional trigger is the final scene where the young boy uses the force on the car. • 17. The Fountainhead Movie And Book Comparison The Fountainhead is an American black and white drama film which was released in 1949. It is an adaptation of the novel called Fountainhead, written by Ayn Rand, who also wrote the screenplay for the film. Both the novel and the film rotate around the central character Howard Roark, who gets rusticated from his university for having a very different train of thought and vision in architecture than what his professors would deem him to have. He then voluntarily chooses to struggle rather than compromise his foresight along with his creative and individual vision to practice modern architecture; which he believes to be greater than the traditional and old school architecture and train of thought. He thus he interacts and struggles with various people who help him or act as barriers to his work and progress. Ayn Rand grew up in the Soviet Union where all the citizens were ruled by a dictator, although she always held her own and wished for political freedom and basic human rights. That is when he wrote The Fountainhead. The protagonist of the story is Howard Roark who is an embodiment of herself, what she wishes to be and how society keeps pulling him down as they cannot accept his radical thoughts and creativity. Firstly, this organization firmly believes that raising the minimum wage will positively affect the wage gap between men and women. Averages illustrate that differentiation s among men and women s job selections could be considered for virtually half of the genderpay gap. Increasing the minimum wagewill benefit those dedicated women laborers by helping support their families. Two third of mothers are sole providers within their households and these same women are the ones, who made up relatively two thirds of all minimum salaried employees in the year 2012 (Glynn, Fisher Baxter, 2014). In 2014, the minimum wage was only $7.25 an hour which means that a person, who works full time would only bring in $15,080 over the course of a year. This is not enough for an individual, who has a family to live on because in actuality it is barely enough for a single person to survive on. This particular organization feels if the minimum wage is increased to at least $10.10 an hour, then it would benefit around 15 millions women and also help narrow the pay gap that exists between men and women. Secondly, the Center for American Progress Organization believes that increasing the tipped minimum salary would close the gender pay gap, as well. The organic community creates standards that are supported by their ideas, but when the ideas become inconsistent and contradictory, it becomes very clear that their standards are not set up on stable grounds. b) The article was written in 2004, two years after the first US National Organic Standards was implemented (216). This would have given researchers and anyone involved in the agriculture world enough time to investigate the basis for the organic movements standards, and to judge whether or not the standards were consistent and fair. 2) Purpose of the article Becky Mansfield is arguing that it is difficult to distinguish whether a product of agriculture can have organic status or not. She has observed the debate over organic certification for aquatic animals (216) from every angle, and believes that the organic movement holds contradictory ideologies. These contradictions act as blockages for the attribution of organic status to wild fish, because the fish do not fall in any of the categories that the organic movement considers suitable for organic status. It s so interesting to me how one action can change the future so much. Looking back, it s no surprise to me how my deep fascination with the ill fated Romanov family of Russia came to be. In eighth grade during world history we read about how the familywas shot one by one the basement, and the conspiracies of the possible escape of Anastasia Romanov, the youngest daughter of Tsar Nicholas. Surprisingly, I have formed many relationships or created great conversation with total strangers because of the Romanov family. I will never forget the day last year I was at Starbucks during winter break reading a book about the time when the Romanovs were imprisoned to the weeks after they were killed and a 70 year old man approached me. • 36. The Ten Commandments And The Commandments The Ten Commandments were given to the Israelites by Moses in the Old Testament, but they are still important for Christians today. Many people debate over whether the Old Testament laws are still applicable to Christians. The Ten Commandments are part of God s moral law, and they are repeated in different locations in the New Testament. They are given to believers by God to show us how to have a right relationship with Him and with others. However, our sinful nature makes it impossible for us to be able to uphold the Ten Commandments, and the Ten Commandments show us how sinful we truly are. This shows us our need for a savior. As believers, we have the Holy Spirit dwelling inside of us, and that is the only way our actions are pleasing to God. It is important that we try to implicate the Ten Commandments in our lives by the power of the Holy Spirit. The first commandment is you shall have no other gods before Me. (Exodus 20:3). This clearly shows that God is monotheistic, and the idea that there are many ways to get to God is absurd. Man s sinful nature does not want to accept the fact that there is one God that is absolute and all powerful. This is because mankind does not want to be held accountable for sin, and mankind s very nature is to rebel against God. This is best seen in a quote by Friedrich Nietzsche, who is the philosopher that claimed that God is dead. He joked, one of the gods announced one day, There is only one God. Taking a Look at Neurotransmitter Release Neurotransmitter release is a key step to neuro transmission, in the middle of the 20th century; it has been clearly revealed that chemical signals transfer the great majority of the information in the brain. Therefore, different neurochemistry approaches have been emerged to investigate neurotransmitter release process. Later, introducing a radiolabeled precursor into the CNS and measuring the accumulation of a radiolabeled product have made critical improving and developing in vitro preparations approaches including isolated nerve ending fractions or synaptosomes, cultured cells and tissue slices. However, in this study we focused on the use of brain slices, as well as intact structure giving a close picture of th in vivos situation. The tissue slice method was introduced by Warburg in 1920s to investigate the energy metabolism of tissues slice and Henry McIlwain extended it to study brain metabolism. Currently, slices structure is an accepted technique for studying many aspects of neurobiology. Slices are made using a mechanical device, such as a tissue chopper or vibrato me. Subsequently, they are immediately transferred into cold carbongenated iso osmotic salt solution. Tissue slices are used with and without radiolabeled tracers dependent on the case of studies. Subsequently they are transferred into small chamber and superfused 1 hour with fresh carbongenated medium to achieve stability. • 38. The United States Collective Identity A true basis of what it means to be an American can be thoroughly argued on the grounds of what constitutes an American, is an American born or is an American made? The collective identity of the American populace is the shared characteristics, the same drive, which ultimately results in oneness. The unique American cultural identity is the shared revolutionary nature, which drives Americans toward progressive social changes. The original thirteen coloniesfaced a rather odd situation in their nascent years. Far enough away from Britain to not completely live under their control, the colonies began to form a new way of defining themselves. Rather than simply being British colonies they wanted to act as a sovereign nation in their own right. Fearful of the colonies gaining too much power the British government implemented a set of Acts, such as the Intolerable Act and the Stamp Act, with the intention of them limiting the colonies freedoms and smothering any chance of rebellion. However, the colonist took this as an act of oppression instead and rose above it in order to regain their personal freedoms. They felt that their society had plateaued into mediocrity under the rule of King George as they didn t have protected rights (The American Pageant, 126 133). In the hopes of ridding themselves of the British rule war broke out, the crude colonist soldiers fighting against the well polished British army, something revolutionary all in itself as it has never been done ... The global reach of the internet and its ability to expand at an exponential rate, makes the internet one of the biggest tools created for commercial use. This paper will focus on how the internet was started and how it has developed since the start, growing and changing from the ARPANETinto the internet of today. The internet has developed since its conception to include not only computers but mobile devices as well to connect people and expand the global presence for businesses and their ability to reach millions through online advertisements and sales. The internet was started as a concept with the help of the government to help the flow of communication to the computer science research community. J.C.R. • 42. Analysis Of The Movie Iceman The Neanderthal Neanderthal Prejudice Elizabeth Armistead When humans encounter other humans, we tend to treat them differently. Whether it s because of cultural barriers, language barriers, or something as trivial as skin color, we view some people differently than we view those who share our ethnicity, culture, and values. This is referred to as racism or prejudice and it is still an active problem in the world today. But although people can differ greatly when it comes to culture or appearance, we share most of our genes. Our closest related (and now extinct) ancestor, the Neanderthal, can be viewed in similar terms. Their culture differed from ours now as modern humans, but surprisingly the genomes of humans and Neanderthals are 99.84% identical (Gibbons). However, based on our history of bias, if Neanderthals were alive today, we would no doubt treat them differently, if not inferior, to modern humans. In the movie Iceman the Neanderthal, Charlie, was caged in a room that resembled a natural terrain while he was subject to the studies that were performed on him including the monitoring of his speech patterns. But in this movie, he was portrayed as very human like and had multiple interactions with Dr. Shephard, an anthropologist who also became his friend. Dr. Shephard and Dr. Brady represented the two angles from which treatment of a Neanderthal in today s world could be perceived. • 43. Fabrication And Characterization Of Scaffold From Keratin... Fabrication and characterization of scaffold from Keratin/Alginate blend for tissue engineering application 3. Result and Discussion: 3.1. Compatibility and structural analysis: The miscibility property of keratin and alginate was studied by applying X ray diffractometer and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy. The XRD spectra of blends were compared to the control spectra of native keratin and native alginate as mentioned in Figure 1. In XRD spectra, the native keratin and native alginate give a highest intensity at near 7543 and 4100 at about 19В° and 14В° angle of 2Оё, respectively [17 19]. The spectra of keratin/alginate blends prepared at a ratio of 10:90, 30:70 and 50:50 gives a highest intensity peak 3573, 5128 and 3264 at 22В°, 6.8В° and 7.1В° angle of 2Оё respectively. The XRD spectra of all blend ratios gives a new peak in between 6В° 8В° angle of 2Оё which is not present in the spectra of native keratin and alginate, this depict that the structure of native keratin and alginate become altered and form a new structural pattern in blend form. The XRD spectra of blend scaffold revealed that the intensity of blend has transformed as compared to the control XRD spectra which confirm that the compatibility exists in between keratin and alginate. Several works are reported in which compatibility between blend components was examined by XRD. For example, Tian et al. [20] performed the XRD study to identify the interaction between soy protein and agar. The compatibility between ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Immune System Of The Human Body Immune System Monica Salazar BIO1021 Dr. Kimberly Snead McDaniel South University Online We are examining the role the immune system plays within the general day to day operation of the human body. Further examination of the impaired immune system s profound negative impact on the whole body system, will also be delineated. The human body has structures and processes inside the body that defend against infection and additional harmful foreign bodies. When working appropriately, the immune system detects a diversity of dangers, such as foreign bodies like bacteria, viruses, and parasites, and attacks them, leaving the healthy body tissue alone. The immune system also creates safeguards for the body to prevent disruptions of body processes by new pathogens, traumas, and mutations. There are major components that makes up the immune system spread throughout the body. The major organs involved in the body s immune response are the: bone marrow, thymus, circulatory, lymphatic system, dermis and mucosal tissues that work together in varied and complex interactions to provide the body with immune functions. The lymphatic system produces and stores cells that helps the body battle infection and diseases. The lymphatic system contains the following components: bone marrow, thymus, spleen, and lymph nodes.
