Ethics And Code Of Ethics
1.
a. Felipe was concerned about many issues when he visited the Chinese factories. The ethical filter of
self spoke words to him, as he felt uncomfortable about continuing to outsource his company s
products from a factory with such rough conditions. The employment of young girls, long working
hours, lack of appropriate gears for employees to perform their work safely, high temperatures inside
the factories, danger respiratory conditions, and also the living conditions the workforce was exposed
to including no windows or running water were against his personal definition of right, good and fair.
Even though the case study does not describe clearly, one could easily assume that these practices do
not comply with the key values and the code of ethics and conduct that Felipe s company is likely to
have. The fact that Felipe was immediately shocked with the labor conditions shows that it goes
against what his company practices in his home country, triggering the filters of policies and universal
.
b. For Felipe s company and other competitors that also have their products manufactured by the
Chinese factory, what was at stake was the cost of goods, which was important for the overall
competitiveness. Felipe s boss was very direct in pointing out that he believed that any change in the
factory s policy would increase costs, which would impact in the purchase price of the merchandise
they were sourcing from China. Therefore, in order not to raise prices, it was not in

How Does Barton Create A Perfect American Society
Comparing Utopian Works of Cavendish and Bacon
Like everyone, Sir Francis Bacon and Margaret Cavendish had differing opinions of a perfect, utopian
society. For Bacon, his utopia is a society whose culture venerates science and scientists. Where
science is not at odds with religion, and scientific advancement is very rapid. Bacon s society is also
vastly Christian, with the only non Christian being Bartholomew, a father of Solomon s House who s
Jewish. Cavendish, who also appreciates the scientific method doesn t put as much focus on it as
Bacon does. Cavendish s society put s far more focus on society who exalts their monarch with almost
the same respect as a deity, social unification through said monarch and a nondenominational god.
Bacon s utopia in The New Atlantis, he puts the most emphasis on empirical science and reason, and
discovering natures mysteries while also applying these new discoveries to his utopian society. This is
very clearly stated by the head of Solomon s House when he s explaining his organization his guests,
The end of our foundation is the knowledge of causes and secret motions of things; and the enlarging
of the bounds of the human empire, to the effecting of all things possible this idea is the foundation of
Solomon s House and play s a massive role in the society of Bensalem.
In Contrast to Bacon, Cavendish focuses her utopia more on the unification of a society rather than the

or Bacon, his utopia is mainly Christian, though there is one Jewish person on the island. This shows
the reader that in Bacon s ideal world everyone should be Christian, though even if thet are not
Christian they may still be treated as equal such as the case of Joabin the Jew. Joabin s case shows us
the freedom of religion that bacon believed in, that people of other religions wouldn t be persecuted

Essay on The Battle of Crete
| The Battle of Crete: Important or Insignificant? | The Battle of Crete began May 20th, 1941. Nazi
Germany launched an airborne attack called Operation Merkur or Operation Mercury on the island of
Crete. This battle will be important because it will hold great influence over the course of the war in
the means of power. The Greek, Allied forces and even civilians attempted to defend the island and
after day one the Germans suffered heavy casualties. The next day, the Allies were confident they
could gain control back but they would have miscommunications that would lead to Germany gaining
Maleme Airfield and flying in reinforcements to overwhelm the defenders of the island. This research

Alan Clarke said that the Germans felt it was forcing them to take over Mussolini s responsibilities in
the Balkans in order to secure their southern flank against the Soviets. Knowing this, it begs to
question why Hitler had to secure his flank against a country that he was not at war with. Another
historian, Graham Ross, also states that Hitler would have to rescue Mussolini from the results of his
military incompetence. Mussolini s failure to simply secure the Balkans for Axis power caused a
setback in Hitler s plans and therefore caused the Germans to take control. The Italians were much
more humane and civilized when it came to fighting compared to that of the Germans, who were cruel
and barbaric. This could be the reason why the Italians were unsuccessful in securing the Balkans. The
Italians did not have the fighting mentality like the Germans did. Of course there are those such as
Murray that beg to differ in opinions about the course of the war. After the Germans had eliminated
Greece and Yugoslavia, they decided to make one last objective and that was attacking Crete. Hitler
ordered an airborne attack to finish the campaign and secure the Romanian oil fields from threats of
bombing. Hitler stated, Crete was the correct choice but such an attack would rely heavily on airborne
forces. The Germans had hoped that by taking control of the airfields they could create a bridgehead

Lakers Vs. Los Angeles Clippers
In L.A there is a battle, a battle of who is the best basketball team in the city. The Los Angeles Lakers
or the Los Angeles Clippers. This whole rivalry started in 1984 when the Clippers moved to L.A. The
Clippers originally played their games in the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, while the Lakers
were winning championships in the Forum. In their first matchup the Lakers won 108 103, and with
that a crosstown rivalry was born the Associated Press wrote. While the Clippers were rebuilding, the
Lakers had put together a super team dubbed Showtime. With Magic Johnson running the whole thing
and 38 year old Kareem Abdul Jabbar in the post, and with that duo the Lakers won the championship
in the 84 85 season. By 1986, the Lakers were still undefeated against the Clippers. Magic Johnson
also won his first MVP award. In 1987, the Lakers won the The Finals again, winning their 4 title in
franchise history, and their second since the Clippers moved to L.A. In the 1987 88 NBA season the
Lakers won another Finals against the Detroit Pistons a.k.a the Bad Boys, going back to back. In 1992,
the Clippers had their first winning season since 1978 79 and their first playoff appearance since 1976.
The Lakers, on the other hand, struggled with Magic Johnson s retirement after he tested positive for

Ancient Indian Civilization
ANCIENT INDIAN CIVILIZATION
INTRODUCTION
In the 1920s, a huge discovery in South Asia proved that Egypt and Mesopotamia were not the only
early civilizations. In the vast Indus River plains (located in what is today Pakistan and western India),
under layers of land and mounds of dirt, archaeologists discovered the remains of a 4,600 year old
city. A thriving, urban civilization had existed at the same time as Egyptian and Mesopotamian states
in an area twice each of their sizes. The Indian civilization is one of the most ancient civilizations of
the world. It is known as the Sindhu civilization or the Indus Valley civilization or the Aryan
civilization. Sometimes it is also referred to as the Vedic civilization.

CLIMATE
Climate was an ingredient in early Indian civilizations for several reasons. Monsoons, winds that mark
the seasons, are one of the most immediate. The first monsoon of the season blows from North to
Northeast periodically during November through March. Little rain is present during this monsoon,
however what precipitation does fall, it falls on the Northern slope of the Himilayas. During mid June
through October a second monsoon indicates the Wet Season a.k.a. the southwest monsoon. Following
the southwest monsoon, heavy rains fall in its wake (however sparse rainfall falls on the Western
Ghats, the heaviest rainfull occours over the Ganges Valley and the Eastern Himilayan Mountains).
The timing of these winds is critical; too little or too late rainfall results in an unsuccessful harvest, yet
too much or an extended period of rainfall causes flooding along the country side. Temperatures also
play a significant role in how Indian s settled the land in anchient times. The ideal area the Deccan
plateau had mild temperatures in the summer opposed to the blistering heat of the Western Ghats and
valleys which could climb up to one hundred twenty degrees farenheit.
The annual rainfall in the Indus region varies between 5 and 20 inches (125 to 500 millimeters).
Except for the mountainous section of Pakistan, the Indus valley lies in the driest part of the
subcontinent. Northwestern winds

The Federalist Paper, By Alexander Hamilton, James...
The Federalist Papers are a series of eighty five essays written by Alexander Hamilton, James
Madison, and John Jay, which argued the reasons why the Articles of Confederation should be
strengthened. These articles support the new constitution as well as seek ratification from the states.
On November 7, 1787 John Jay published The Fourth Federalist Paper. In The Fourth Federalist Paper
John Jay explains that the U.S should be unified under a central government rather than function as
multiple independent bodies. The U.S would be better able to obviate from foreign aggressors, trade
with other countries, and the country would be better organized. The issues discussed within The
Fourth Federalist Paper, is still relevant today.

It reiterated that we would be stronger as a whole and with all of the manpower that we have, it would
be really effective against foreign countries that want to fight with the U.S. Weapons could be
manufactured in Ohio but now they could be shipped to New York if they needed weapons and in that
sense we would be more united.
In hindsight, the U.S made the right move in choosing to accept this Federalist Paper. We have the
most advanced military in the world, thanks to new technology and phenomenal programs. This
consists of programs ranging from ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) to the Navy Seals (An
elite military force). ROTC is a program for college students in universities all over the country that
trains and puts them into a position to be successful in a military career. Also, the Navy Seals carry out
special missions. One that many are aware of is the assasination of Osama Bin Laden. I pointed this
out because it shows real life examples of the ideas stated within the Fourth Federalist Paper being
exercised. In my opinion, the ROTC program represents people coming from all over the country to
fight for a single cause. If it were not for John Jay and his willingness to argue the fact that we need to
be unified, then there is always the possibility that certain aspects of the U.S Military would not exist.
Whether firmly united under one national government, or split into a number of confederacies, certain
it is, that foreign nations will know and

12 Believers who are amazed by Jesus tell others, and they in turn are amazed. When we tell others
about Christ, great things happen through the power of Christ.
18 People who think they are somebody seldom stand in amazement at somebody else. We must learn
not to exalt ourselves, but instead exalt Christ.
20 21 Should we claim to be humble, though, we have already started down the slippery slope of
arrogance. To speak (or write) about humility so that others may learn can itself become a prideful act.

He wants them to go out into the world and live for Christ.

is such a sweet and true statement that speaks to my soul. God is good!

Animal Cruelty And Impurities In Upton Sinclair s The Jungle
I aimed at the public s heart, and by accident I hit it in the stomach. A quote by Upton Sinclair from
his best known novel The Jungle. Sinclair, a social crusader from California, was an activist writer
whose work often uncovered the social injustices occurring during his time. At the age of 14 Sinclair
proved to be a force to recon with when he started attending City College of New York. After
graduating Sinclair began grad work at Columbia University supporting himself by writing dime
novels. In 1904 Sinclair was sent to Chicago by the socialist newspaper Appeal to Reason to write an
exposé. It s intentions were to sympathise with the appalling treatment of the immigrants working in
the meatpacking industry. After spending weeks undercover researching, Sinclair wrote a manuscript
that would become The Jungle. In 1906 The Jungle became his sixth and most successful novel. The

Fad Diets And Its Effect On Obesity Essay
A fad diet is a weight loss plan or aid that over promises dramatic results. These diets typically don t
result in long term weight loss and they are usually not very healthy. In fact, some diets can actually
be dangerous to your health (Family Doctor.org). Fad diets promise excessive and miraculous weight
loss goals, however these diets are proven by scientific evidence that they do not promote long lasting
results. Instead they are harmful and can promote rapid onset obesity. The problem being presented
here is that America s growing obesity problem directly correlates to the fad diets. Americans would
rather choose the quickest and easiest solution to their weight issue. Many people who choose these
fad diets range from people including: teenages, women of all ages, and people who binge eat or are
on the verge on obesity. The most important way to identify the cause of this issue and the people who
are likely to fall into these fads, is to evaluate the history behind them, the types of fad diets and the
what influences people to turn to them. The first thing to acknowledge when analyzing fad diets is the
history of them, A recorded history of these diets dates back to 1825.(www.Latimes.com). To begin
with, the first celebrity endorsed diet was the vinegar and water diet. Developed in 1820. However in
the 19th century the promotion of arsenic pills were popular because they claimed to be able to speed

Essay on Reinsurance Of Catastrophe Risks
Reinsurance of Catastrophe Risks
Introduction
Extreme events happen very seldom, however, they can inflict tremendous damage when they strike.
The events are either natural occurrences (earthquake, flood, volcanoes, landslides, tsunamis) or man
made event (fire disasters, plane crashes, riots).
Increasing earthquake damage in recent years is evidence of rising vulnerability for the communities
as more people with more valuable property are residing in earthquake prone areas as it is observed by
the rapid population growth. In developing countries most of the growth is in very large urban centres,
for example, the Nairobi of today is very different from what it was 15 years ago both in population
and property.

The reinsurers then provide protection to primary insurers by insuring a portion of their claims in
exchange for a premium.
Why take Catastrophe Protection?
Insurance companies should know their exposure to catastrophic perils affecting properties they have
insured; if ignored, these perils can be life threatening because:
Compared with non catastrophe type of perils, catastrophe perils are unpredictable as to location,
frequency, and severity. While the amount of insurance liability is measured by summing the policy
limits, the amount of catastrophe exposure cannot be determined with any precision until after the
event.
The law of large numbers is limited in its benefit to the reinsured in catastrophes because they have
infrequent occurrences as they affect an individual insurance company.
The potential of un reinsured catastrophe exposures is fatal to the insurer and if not managed properly,
catastrophe perils can destroy the insurance enterprise.
After assessing the catastrophe exposure, the next critical thing is to seek for protection to cater for the
eventualities.
Management through Traditional Reinsurance
Protection for the catastrophe risks is provided by reinsurers through Catastrophe excess of loss which
covers the reinsured s retention against natural catastrophes accumulations

The only way that he is able to withdraw an enormous amount of strength is when aggravated by an
enemy. Whether the Hulk is at its peak, regarding his fighting ability, always depends on his stress
levels. The more stress that he endures, the more strength he exerts which in turn makes him a deadly

bring about their barbaric ways.
By the same token, these characters also retain incredible abilities that demonstrate their extreme

Research Paper On Aurora Borealis
The aurora borealis (northern lights) are a colorful light show that occurs in the northern hemisphere.
The light show produces many different colors although green and pink are the most common. Other
colors that are visible include red, yellow, blue, and violet. The aurora borealis appears in many
different forms such as patches, clouds of light, arcs, and shooting rays that light up the sky ( Northern
Lights, n.d.). It is the result of collisions between gas particles in the Earth s atmosphere and charged
particles that get released from the sun s atmosphere. People have been observing the aurora borealis

When there are interactions with nitrogen the red, violet, and blue colors are formed. The type of
collision that occurs also helps determine what color will appear in the sky. For example, atomic
nitrogen causes blue displays, while molecular nitrogen creates a purple display. Another factor that
determines the color is the altitude. The green lights typically occur up to 150 miles high, the red color
is formed above 150 miles, blue usually appears closer to the surface of the earth at 60 miles, and
purple and violet can occur anywhere above 60 miles ( Northern Lights, n.d.). Red is made at the
highest altitudes. Due to the low concentration of atoms and lower sensitivity of the human eye, this
color is only visible when the solar activity is very intense. Green occurs at lower altitudes with
frequent collisions between particles. The high concentration of atomic oxygen and the higher eye
sensitivity in green make this the most common color to see in the Northern Lights. The excited
nitrogen transfers its energy by colliding to an oxygen atom. This radiates it away to the green
wavelength. The blue color occurs at even lower altitudes than the green color. This is because atomic
oxygen is uncommon at these heights and molecular nitrogen produces visible light emission. Blue
and purple emissions produce the highest levels of solar activity. Additionally, the molecular nitrogen

The Delian League, an alliance of Greek city states with Athens as the leader, was proven to be very
successful during the Persian Wars.
After Persia endured a conclusive thrashing at Eurymedon (468 BC), numerous individuals upheld
disintegration of the league. Athens, in any case, which had benefitted incredibly from the league,
contended that the threat from Persia was not over. At the point when Naxos endeavored to withdraw,
Athens, taking the administration from the gathering, constrained (c.470 BC) Naxos to hold
dependability. Before long Thasos endeavored a similar move and was in like manner repressed (463
BC) by the Athenian general Cimon. The Athenians were so effective in their points,

Neonatal Withdrawal Syndrome
Opioid addicted babies need treatment in the hospital setting to help them through the withdrawal
process. Studies are showing what medications to use to help reduce the length of hospital stay. Today,
many neonates stay in the hospital much longer than years past, this is generally due to being born
addicted to opioids. The United States is suffering from an epidemic of opioid abuse. When a pregnant
mother is addicted to opioids these drugs cross the placenta, causing the neonates to be born addicted.
According to Hall et al. (2015), this epidemic can cause opioid misuse, overdose or even death. When
looking at the United States from 2005 2011, more than 14% of pregnant women were dispensed an
opioid at some time in their pregnancy , (Hall, 2015, pg.40). Depending on the length of medication
used and timing during the pregnancy will determine how a neonate will withdraw after birth. This
withdrawal is becoming a common practice and is known as Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS).
By 2015, this syndrome would affect one neonate in 200 births. Improvements in medications and
techniques help neonates get through withdrawal. I have created a PICO to help form this paper. This
paper will compare the two medications; Morphine and Buprenorphine are most commonly used to

Female Repression of the 19th Century as Seen Thru the Two...
For centuries man has created this patriarchal society in which women have been treated as the lesser
entity, having no sense of self being or worth. These feelings led women to feel repressed in their
everyday life. It was in the late nineteenth century when literary writers started to expose this female
repression. Guy de Maupassant and Kate Chopin clearly express definitive examples of female
repression in their stories, The Necklace and The Story of an Hour. During this time period, women s
role in society was that of a submissive, powerless position. They often relied solely on their husband
for direction, allowing the husband to make decisions and take lead no matter what. In the story of

The only thing that women could take ownership of was their beauty. She danced with intoxication,
with passion, made drunk by pleasure, forgetting all, in the triumph of her beauty, in the glory of her
success, in a sort of cloud of happiness composed of all this homage, of all this admiration, of all these
awakened desires, and if that sense of complete victory which is so sweet to a woman s heart
(Maupassant 63). In this passage, Mathilde was basting in her own beauty because it was of her own.
During this time many women were forced into marriage, resulting in a great unhappiness. Both Kate
Chopin and Guy de Maupassant state this lack of joy that was often experienced everyday by women.
It was only yesterday she had thought with a shudder that life might be long (Chopin 68). If was as if
Mrs. Mallard was sickened by the idea that her life and the way it was, would continue forever.
Maupassant portrays Mathilde s frustration in her marriage with the frequent use of the word suffered
in relationship to her higher class wants and desires. She suffered ceaselessly, feeling herself born for
all the delicacies and all the luxuries. She suffered from the poverty of her dwelling, from the
wretched look of the walls, from the worn out chairs, from the ugliness of the curtains (Maupassant

Analysis Of Craig Mullaney s Novel The Unforgiving Minute
One of the most interesting and fascinating aspects of the Army is learning about the experiences of
the individuals that drive the organization. Due to the nature of the organization, the members of the
United States Army come from all walks of life, all with unique backgrounds and experiences.
Consequentially, the Army is a highly versatile and diverse organization that can accomplish almost
any mission. Similarly, the leadership training and education of Craig Mullaney received at West
Point, Ranger School, and Oxford were designed to provide him with the necessary knowledge and
experience to overcome his challenges he faced in Afghanistan. Essentially, these institutions honed
his internal qualities such as hard work and dedication to enable him to lead soldiers. The name of
Mullaney s novel, The Unforgiving Minute, describes a unique situation: a point in time when a
decision or action must be taken to overcome a difficult scenario, specifically a scenario where either
decision leads to a negative outcome. Based on the novel, the unforgiving minute Mullaney faced was
when his convoy was ambushed and he lost a soldier. Essentially, the decision he made was to have
his dismounted squad assault an enemy position which resulted in an engagement where his soldier
was fatally wounded. Yet if he had not ordered this assault, the same enemy position was waiting to

Multiracial Families In Canada And Their Struggle Living...
Multiracial Families In Canada And Their Struggle Living In A Radicalized Society The work of
Bonnett (1993) reports that the investigation of the new and middle class radical represents a critique
of the orthodox Marxist assumption that the natural and/or only home of real political dissent is the
working class. (p. 283) Bonnett states that the new radicals have tendency to be uninvolved in the day
to day running of capitalist business. (1993) The new radical middle class is stated in the work of
Cotgrove and Duff (1980:344 cited in Bonnett, 1993 to be such that constitute non industrial enclaves
within industrial society and are the carriers of alternative non economic values, and they specify this
non industrial enclave as schools, hospitals and welfare agencies. (Bonnett, 1993, p. 284) The new
radicals are reported to be identified as highly educated, economically thwarted individuals who, both
new class and radical middle class theorists agree, tend to be the most active in the public and creative
professions. (Bonnett, 1993, p. 284) According to Bonnett it has been shown that the new radicals are
more educated than other sections of the new/middle class however, the explanations provided for this
correlation are such that refer back to the inherently liberating and critical capacities ascribed to
education. (1993) The correlations that are assumed to be in existence between radicalism and
economic status and radicalism and relative autonomy from

How Does Hippolytus Tell The Truth
Since Hippolytus now knows of her feelings, Phaedra believes she is damned and after making the
Chorus swear secrecy, goes inside and hangs herself to death. On returning Theseus learns of his wife
s death and discovers a letter which seems to clearly place the blame for her death on Hippolytus.
Misinterpreting this, he assumes that Hippolytus had raped Phaedra, the furious Theseus curses his
son to death or at least exile, calling on his father Poseidon to enforce the curse. Hippolytus pleads
innocence, but cannot tell the truth in entirety because of the binding oath he previously swore to the
nurse. As the Chorus sings a lament, Hippolytus is sent off to exile. However, a messenger brings
news of Hippolytus shortly to report how, as Hippolytus

The Kansas State University Orchestra Conducted
I recently attended the Kansas State University Orchestra conducted by Dr. David Littrell and graduate
student Travis Hale. The orchestra featured four pieces, Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Minor composed
by Johann Sebastian Bach, Petite Suite composed by Claude Debussy arranged by Henri Busser,
Overture to La Gazza Ladra (The Thieving Magpie) composed by Gioachino Rossini, and Overture to
Le roi d Ys composed by Edouard Lalo. The first piece of music performed was the Orchestral Suite
No. 3 in D Minor. The melody of this piece was very conjunct and smooth. The pitches fit together
well and were played staccato, but in the Air, portion the melody became more legato. Since a suite is
a collection of dances this is very metric. It is very easy to find a beat and tap your toe to the beat.
Every movement of this suite was very easy to find the beat. I believe the piece was in a quadruple
meter because the continuo, played by the double bass, could be counted into four. The dynamics were
very moderate staying within the range of forte and piano, which is typical of the baroque period when
this piece was written. The piece was polyphonic and each section had their own parts that worked
together to make the piece. The piece could also be considered a call and response in the Bouree and
Gigue movements. The violins and woodwinds would play a part of the melody and then the brass and
bass would come in with a short response to their melody. The next piece performed was Petite Suite

The Effects Of Domestic Violence On Children Essay
Domestic violence is a crime of either passion or violence which should never be tolerated by
anybody if at all the society is to be made safe enough for people to live in. Domestic violence can be
defined as any threatening, abusive, or violent behavior in the home either between adult children and
other adult family members (Gibbons, 2011). It can also be used by one intimate partner to establish
power and control over the other partner through fear and intimidation. Domestic violence can happen
anywhere to anyone of any race, religion, culture, or economic status. It can occur in any relationship,
including heterosexual, gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender and also within extended families
(Women s Aid 2010). It affects both partners, their children, other family members, friends, and
colleagues. Although emotional abuse in a relationship can happen equally regardless of gender, the
more threatening and dangerous forms of domestic violence are usually committed by a man against a
woman (Patriarchal Roots, n.d). Often the aggressor in a violent relationship feels a high level of
ownership over the other partner and the children which too often results in injury or death if this
person tries to end the relationship or report the violence. Unfortunately, children are not left out and
many times they fall victims of abuse or sexual assault (Sexual violence against women, n.d). This can
be very traumatizing to the children and they might grow up in fear of being abusers

The Text Euthyphro By Plato
Jeanelle Moncrieffe
Dr. Cicura
Philosophy 2010
27 September 2017 The text Euthyphro by Plato is concisely a dialogue between Socrates and
Euthyphro. Socrates confronts Euthyphro when he argues The point which I should first wish to
understand is whether the pious or holy is blocked by the gods because it is holy, or because it is
blocked by the gods (cf. pg. 31); 10a. This refers back to the Devine Command Theory and civil
religion. Civil Religion is defined as a mixture between religion and cultural relativism. Civil Religion
is an alternative version of the Divine Command Theory that declares that God s stipulations
correspond to an individual culture. The Devine command theory is defined as an action being morally
right because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Overall, Plato is saying that the action being holy and the action being divinely approved does not
have to be equal, however if they are equivalent, then they don t have to acquire an equal meaning.
Therefore, Euthyphro cannot state that what is holy and was approved by the gods does not mean the
same thing. In like manner, his argument pushes the concept of morality. One might say that what is
good is good because God says it s good. This raises the question asked by many philosophers does
God love the good because it is good, or is it good because God loves it? The simple answer is God
loves goodness because he is good therefore he commands goodness. All what is considered righteous
to God may be found in the Bible. The word of the Bible reveals what God expects from his people. It
reveals what is good in his eyes and what is considered evil. The words of the Bible portray the path
of which should be followed. It shows the path of righteousness where one may follow to be like God.
Man was created in the image of God; therefore, man was created to acquire his character. For those
reasons, God loves what is good because it is good and he is good. There are different standards for
judging the morality of something. An action is considered holy, moral or good because God loves it.
Therefore, we can assume that morality is dependent on God s will or

School Counselor Patrick Whaley
Case Study #4 For School Counselor by Patrick Whaley
Problem Identification
The fact that school counselors work with minors plus this developmental stage can be crucial for a
child s emotional and mental development additionally, being aware of ethical standards and
dilemmas would also be important. In fact, the American School Counselor Association states in
section A.1.e (Supporting Student Development), Are concerned with students academic, career and
social/emotional needs and encourage each student s maximum development . In this current case
study, the school counselor has several things to be worried about as well as being worried about this
child s emotional and social well being. The first problem was when the school counselor did not
avoid dual relationships due to privately counseling with his student s parents. The second problem
occurred when the school counselor did not report the abuse to the proper authorities because even
mental abuse should still be reported. The third problem could have been avoided if the school
counselor would have disclosed to the client s parent s thus avoiding a dilemma of failure to disclose.

Essay On The Effect Of Sucrose Concentration On Rate Of...
Effects of Sucrose Concentration on Rate of Diffusion Through Osmosis
Introduction:
Many human beings undergo dialysis to filter waste from their blood due to the fact that their kidneys
are not working properly. The blood is filtered through a selectively permeable membrane which
separates waste from the blood, essentially pumping clean blood back into the body. This is a form of
osmosis, which by definition, is the net movement of water across a selectively permeable membrane,
which was our dialysis bag in this experiment. (Eisenbach et al. 2017). Showing the importance of the
type of selectively permeable membrane used as it allows different substances to go through it. People
who have kidney failure or a kidney disease can become dependent on the use of dialysis to keep them
alive. The rate for those who need dialysis and hospitalization continues to grow as these patients fall
victim to cardiovascular disease and infection such as sepsis (Thompson and Pannu 2011). Factors
that increase the effects of osmosis include temperature, as temperature increases salt transport, and
plays a role in water flux, water viscosity, and osmotic pressure (Zhao and Zou 2011). The rate at
which some substances moves through the selectively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Partition Of India And Pakistan
The 1947 partition of India and Pakistan influenced the Indian Film Industry, more commonly known
as Bollywood, to produce films that sought to evoke Indian nationalism not only directly after the
Partition, but also continuing throughout the 20th century. Films associated with the split between the
two nations celebrated India as it transitioned from colonization to independence, while also
demonizing Pakistan and thus creating an extremely intense anti Pakistani sentiment throughout India.
In particular, two significant Bollywood films, Mother India and Border, sought to prove these
qualities. While Mother India lauded India as a newly independent nation, Border rebuked Pakistan as
the villain in the 1971 Indo Pakistani War, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

While the Indians initially revolted against the British through rebellions, the more significant
response to maltreatment in their own country was with the rise of nationalist movements. In 1885, the
Indian National Congress was formed primarily with a focus on equal political rights for Indians in a
mainly British run government. This became the largest and most prominent Indian public

Egotism Mean To Me
Concerning the discussion of ethics that have resulted in the many schools of reasoning from Egotism
to Consequentialism, to the idea of the golden mean to me are simply the efforts of a logical species to
stop a descent into nihilism in a world that in truth does not work off of a system of morality.
Arguably the reason that we as humans focus so much on the concept is simply because if the average
person did not have a guiding system of morals society would not be able to exist, and that society is
the best way for our species to propagate, and as such those who have morality are more likely to have
descendants who they themselves are more likely to have morality, and so on. Even babies and

I personally believe that the greatest benefit to me, i.e the action that will do the most good for me
without harming me in some way at some later point, will be the best action for me to take. However I
do not do this often. For example, from my view of morality I would not have said the last sentence
for fear of the short term benefit of me gaining some happiness from explaining my thought process
immediately being overshadowed by the chance of being ostracized by those who read this due to
them considering me selfish and therefore my position in society lowering, or simply receiving a
lower grade due to the grader disagreeing with my conclusion, which has happened before in the past.
Personally I do not know why I decided to write this despite what I know to be the better option.
Perhaps I m gambling on the idea that honesty will result in a higher social position and cancel out the
consequence, or perhaps I m acting on the nihilistic view that it doesn t really matter in the long run
and it s better to just air my grievances and thoughts than to lie in order to conserve social standing,
perhaps it is simply in my nature. Most likely the latter. People usually have this internal struggle
when doing things, be it consciously or subconsciously and all of their actions are determined by a
complex weighting scale of what is and isn t important to them, the balance of said scale determining
their actions. I find it interesting that this internal struggle happens almost entirely without constant
input in most cases. Meaning that odds are morality evolved before constant thought. Which is funny

Emotion through Visual War Propaganda Even though the artist always strives to convey a certain
emotion through his art, the beholder does not always feel what the artist intended them to feel. Most
of the time, visual art is seen as either truly in depth or quite ridiculous, it all depends on the viewer
when deciding what side of the spectrum they reside in. This argument is more prominent in today s
culture than it ever was before, with the emergence of modern art, people are beginning to feel that

The Effects Of Digital Etiquette In The Digital Age
Digital etiquette is a modern variation of the old adage treat others the way you want to be treated
(Behrens, n.d.) . This is an important yet difficult lesson to teach children in the digital age because
they spend less time participating in face to face encounters and more time behind a screen. In fact
children ages 8 18 spend approximately 7.5 hours using technology and social media (New Research,
2014). What makes this lesson so difficult is the fact that because children spend so much time behind
a screen interacting with people, they spend less time reading people s emotions and seeing how their
words affect other people. In fact, many adults struggle to come to this realization as well. Based on
my own personal experience on social media, many adults still react to situations they come across
online emotionally and do not necessarily think about what they are posting and how their words
affect the people that are reading them. This is evident with the amount of arguments that occur
mostly in the comment section on social media. In fact, social media is an excellent source of poor
digital etiquette with all of the fights, swearing, and belittling of others that occurs on these platforms
(Digital Etiquette, 2008). This is largely because of the misinterpretations that can happen when
communicating digitally verses communicating face to face. It is difficult to interpret the context from
which someone is speaking. It is essential that adults slow down with their

Most of the organized events reach the student population with loud Facebook campaigns and

The Digital World Is Affecting Today s Youth
Sandra Boyd analyzes how nearly ubiquitous access to the digital world is affecting today s youth in It
s Complicated. She explains how the app generation is struggling to self identify and successfully
leverage the Internet to be app enabled. Youth s app dependency is a result of access to digital
technology and social media at an early age, and is preventing youth from properly self identifying
themselves. This, in turn, is affecting how they build relationships and how they think creatively. The
online community our group has decided to look into is the PCMasterRace subreddit. This subreddit is
a community of PC gamers sharing information about computer hardware, post creative and visually
appealing computer configurations (called builds or rigs ) and post satirical or funny pictures about
trending topics. Reddit provides a platform for people with unique special interests (i.e. PC s) to

where creative ideas can be expressed openly.
Recently, a major topic of this subreddit has been to help console peasants ascend to the ranks of the

ability when gaming and respond to PCMasterRace commentary by posting nonsense, making claims
that playing at suboptimal graphics settings on their consoles make for a better atmosphere and an

this may not seem like a big deal, the children of those individuals who watch reach for those foods

generation. It is believed that more agricultural teachings in schools would help to get families to eat
more fruits and vegetables.
A study done by Meinen and Friese (et al.) studied how increased interaction with gardens increased
the likelihood of children to try new fruits and vegetables. In this study 28 schools were chosen and
randomly assigned to receive a garden or to be a control. Of the schools that received a garden most of
the students had both a greater understanding of agriculture and how to grow their own food as well as
were choosing fresh fruit over potato chips more often than not. Perhaps the most shocking result of
the experiment that parents of these students noted was that their children were more likely to try
something new, some even asked to get fruits from the supermarket (Meinen 2012). While this is one
step in the correct direction it is not completely there, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done

  • 3. Ethics And Code Of Ethics 1. a. Felipe was concerned about many issues when he visited the Chinese factories. The ethical filter of self spoke words to him, as he felt uncomfortable about continuing to outsource his company s products from a factory with such rough conditions. The employment of young girls, long working hours, lack of appropriate gears for employees to perform their work safely, high temperatures inside the factories, danger respiratory conditions, and also the living conditions the workforce was exposed to including no windows or running water were against his personal definition of right, good and fair. Even though the case study does not describe clearly, one could easily assume that these practices do not comply with the key values and the code of ethics and conduct that Felipe s company is likely to have. The fact that Felipe was immediately shocked with the labor conditions shows that it goes against what his company practices in his home country, triggering the filters of policies and universal . b. For Felipe s company and other competitors that also have their products manufactured by the Chinese factory, what was at stake was the cost of goods, which was important for the overall competitiveness. Felipe s boss was very direct in pointing out that he believed that any change in the factory s policy would increase costs, which would impact in the purchase price of the merchandise they were sourcing from China. Therefore, in order not to raise prices, it was not in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. How Does Barton Create A Perfect American Society Comparing Utopian Works of Cavendish and Bacon Like everyone, Sir Francis Bacon and Margaret Cavendish had differing opinions of a perfect, utopian society. For Bacon, his utopia is a society whose culture venerates science and scientists. Where science is not at odds with religion, and scientific advancement is very rapid. Bacon s society is also vastly Christian, with the only non Christian being Bartholomew, a father of Solomon s House who s Jewish. Cavendish, who also appreciates the scientific method doesn t put as much focus on it as Bacon does. Cavendish s society put s far more focus on society who exalts their monarch with almost the same respect as a deity, social unification through said monarch and a nondenominational god. Bacon s utopia in The New Atlantis, he puts the most emphasis on empirical science and reason, and discovering natures mysteries while also applying these new discoveries to his utopian society. This is very clearly stated by the head of Solomon s House when he s explaining his organization his guests, The end of our foundation is the knowledge of causes and secret motions of things; and the enlarging of the bounds of the human empire, to the effecting of all things possible this idea is the foundation of Solomon s House and play s a massive role in the society of Bensalem. This shows the reader that in Bacon s ideal world everyone should be Christian, though even if thet are not Christian they may still be treated as equal such as the case of Joabin the Jew. • 5. Essay on The Battle of Crete | The Battle of Crete: Important or Insignificant? | The Battle of Crete began May 20th, 1941. Nazi Germany launched an airborne attack called Operation Merkur or Operation Mercury on the island of Crete. This battle will be important because it will hold great influence over the course of the war in the means of power. The Greek, Allied forces and even civilians attempted to defend the island and after day one the Germans suffered heavy casualties. The next day, the Allies were confident they could gain control back but they would have miscommunications that would lead to Germany gaining Maleme Airfield and flying in reinforcements to overwhelm the defenders of the island. This research is being used to answer the question why the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Alan Clarke said that the Germans felt it was forcing them to take over Mussolini s responsibilities in the Balkans in order to secure their southern flank against the Soviets. Knowing this, it begs to question why Hitler had to secure his flank against a country that he was not at war with. Another historian, Graham Ross, also states that Hitler would have to rescue Mussolini from the results of his military incompetence. Mussolini s failure to simply secure the Balkans for Axis power caused a setback in Hitler s plans and therefore caused the Germans to take control. The Italians were much more humane and civilized when it came to fighting compared to that of the Germans, who were cruel and barbaric. This could be the reason why the Italians were unsuccessful in securing the Balkans. The Italians did not have the fighting mentality like the Germans did. Of course there are those such as Murray that beg to differ in opinions about the course of the war. After the Germans had eliminated Greece and Yugoslavia, they decided to make one last objective and that was attacking Crete. Hitler ordered an airborne attack to finish the campaign and secure the Romanian oil fields from threats of bombing. Hitler stated, Crete was the correct choice but such an attack would rely heavily on airborne forces. The Germans had hoped that by taking control of the airfields they could create a bridgehead ... • 6. Lakers Vs. Los Angeles Clippers In L.A there is a battle, a battle of who is the best basketball team in the city. The Los Angeles Lakers or the Los Angeles Clippers. This whole rivalry started in 1984 when the Clippers moved to L.A. The Clippers originally played their games in the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, while the Lakers were winning championships in the Forum. In their first matchup the Lakers won 108 103, and with that a crosstown rivalry was born the Associated Press wrote. While the Clippers were rebuilding, the Lakers had put together a super team dubbed Showtime. With Magic Johnson running the whole thing and 38 year old Kareem Abdul Jabbar in the post, and with that duo the Lakers won the championship in the 84 85 season. By 1986, the Lakers were still undefeated against the Clippers. Magic Johnson also won his first MVP award. In 1987, the Lakers won the The Finals again, winning their 4 title in franchise history, and their second since the Clippers moved to L.A. In the 1987 88 NBA season the Lakers won another Finals against the Detroit Pistons a.k.a the Bad Boys, going back to back. In 1992, the Clippers had their first winning season since 1978 79 and their first playoff appearance since 1976. • 7. Ancient Indian Civilization ANCIENT INDIAN CIVILIZATION INTRODUCTION In the 1920s, a huge discovery in South Asia proved that Egypt and Mesopotamia were not the only early civilizations. In the vast Indus River plains (located in what is today Pakistan and western India), under layers of land and mounds of dirt, archaeologists discovered the remains of a 4,600 year old city. A thriving, urban civilization had existed at the same time as Egyptian and Mesopotamian states in an area twice each of their sizes. The Indian civilization is one of the most ancient civilizations of the world. It is known as the Sindhu civilization or the Indus Valley civilization or the Aryan civilization. Sometimes it is also referred to as the Vedic civilization. The Aryans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... CLIMATE Climate was an ingredient in early Indian civilizations for several reasons. Monsoons, winds that mark the seasons, are one of the most immediate. The first monsoon of the season blows from North to Northeast periodically during November through March. Little rain is present during this monsoon, however what precipitation does fall, it falls on the Northern slope of the Himilayas. During mid June through October a second monsoon indicates the Wet Season a.k.a. the southwest monsoon. Following the southwest monsoon, heavy rains fall in its wake (however sparse rainfall falls on the Western Ghats, the heaviest rainfull occours over the Ganges Valley and the Eastern Himilayan Mountains). The timing of these winds is critical; too little or too late rainfall results in an unsuccessful harvest, yet too much or an extended period of rainfall causes flooding along the country side. Temperatures also play a significant role in how Indian s settled the land in anchient times. The ideal area the Deccan plateau had mild temperatures in the summer opposed to the blistering heat of the Western Ghats and valleys which could climb up to one hundred twenty degrees farenheit. The annual rainfall in the Indus region varies between 5 and 20 inches (125 to 500 millimeters). Except for the mountainous section of Pakistan, the Indus valley lies in the driest part of the subcontinent. Northwestern winds ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Federalist Paper, By Alexander Hamilton, James... The Federalist Papers are a series of eighty five essays written by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay, which argued the reasons why the Articles of Confederation should be strengthened. These articles support the new constitution as well as seek ratification from the states. On November 7, 1787 John Jay published The Fourth Federalist Paper. In The Fourth Federalist Paper John Jay explains that the U.S should be unified under a central government rather than function as multiple independent bodies. The U.S would be better able to obviate from foreign aggressors, trade with other countries, and the country would be better organized. The issues discussed within The Fourth Federalist Paper, is still relevant today. Based on my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It reiterated that we would be stronger as a whole and with all of the manpower that we have, it would be really effective against foreign countries that want to fight with the U.S. Weapons could be manufactured in Ohio but now they could be shipped to New York if they needed weapons and in that sense we would be more united. In hindsight, the U.S made the right move in choosing to accept this Federalist Paper. We have the most advanced military in the world, thanks to new technology and phenomenal programs. This consists of programs ranging from ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) to the Navy Seals (An elite military force). ROTC is a program for college students in universities all over the country that trains and puts them into a position to be successful in a military career. Also, the Navy Seals carry out special missions. One that many are aware of is the assasination of Osama Bin Laden. I pointed this out because it shows real life examples of the ideas stated within the Fourth Federalist Paper being exercised. In my opinion, the ROTC program represents people coming from all over the country to fight for a single cause. If it were not for John Jay and his willingness to argue the fact that we need to be unified, then there is always the possibility that certain aspects of the U.S Military would not exist. Whether firmly united under one national government, or split into a number of confederacies, certain it is, that foreign nations will know and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When we tell others about Christ, great things happen through the power of Christ. 18 People who think they are somebody seldom stand in amazement at somebody else. We must learn not to exalt ourselves, but instead exalt Christ. 20 21 Should we claim to be humble, though, we have already started down the slippery slope of arrogance. To speak (or write) about humility so that others may learn can itself become a prideful act. 29 30 That s what happens when we meet Jesus and are amazed by him: we go to tell others, including those who have turned against us. How true is this?! Love brings forth words from the innermost being of one s heart. It is only natural. 97 98 He doesn t work miracles in our lives so we can just hang out with Him. Jesus does not work miracles so we can sit in amazement. Instead, he wants us to live in response to all He has done for us. 99 The gospel erupting from us leads to changed lives. Amen! PUTTING ON THE ARMOR: JOURNAL 15 We must know Jesus who is truth in order to wear the belt of truth. 17 Jesus who knew the truth, spoke the truth, and lived the truth is still the Truth today. 20 Perhaps is we focused more on doing good than avoiding wrong, we would make more difference in our world. This is so true! God does not want people to legalistically obey His commands, instead He wants them to go out into the world and live for Christ. 30 God not only gives us blessings in the present, but He also guarantees blessings in the future. This is such a sweet and true statement that speaks to my soul. God is good! 38 David reminds each of us were one bad decision away from falling into unrighteousness. 49 I pray I will have that boldness, always being ready to proclaim the gospel to others. A quote by Upton Sinclair from his best known novel The Jungle. Sinclair, a social crusader from California, was an activist writer whose work often uncovered the social injustices occurring during his time. At the age of 14 Sinclair proved to be a force to recon with when he started attending City College of New York. After graduating Sinclair began grad work at Columbia University supporting himself by writing dime novels. In 1904 Sinclair was sent to Chicago by the socialist newspaper Appeal to Reason to write an exposé. It s intentions were to sympathise with the appalling treatment of the immigrants working in the meatpacking industry. • 12. Fad Diets And Its Effect On Obesity Essay A fad diet is a weight loss plan or aid that over promises dramatic results. These diets typically don t result in long term weight loss and they are usually not very healthy. In fact, some diets can actually be dangerous to your health (Family Doctor.org). Fad diets promise excessive and miraculous weight loss goals, however these diets are proven by scientific evidence that they do not promote long lasting results. Instead they are harmful and can promote rapid onset obesity. The problem being presented here is that America s growing obesity problem directly correlates to the fad diets. Americans would rather choose the quickest and easiest solution to their weight issue. Many people who choose these fad diets range from people including: teenages, women of all ages, and people who binge eat or are on the verge on obesity. The most important way to identify the cause of this issue and the people who are likely to fall into these fads, is to evaluate the history behind them, the types of fad diets and the what influences people to turn to them. The first thing to acknowledge when analyzing fad diets is the history of them, A recorded history of these diets dates back to 1825.(www.Latimes.com). To begin with, the first celebrity endorsed diet was the vinegar and water diet. Developed in 1820. The events are either natural occurrences (earthquake, flood, volcanoes, landslides, tsunamis) or man made event (fire disasters, plane crashes, riots). Increasing earthquake damage in recent years is evidence of rising vulnerability for the communities as more people with more valuable property are residing in earthquake prone areas as it is observed by the rapid population growth. While the amount of insurance liability is measured by summing the policy limits, the amount of catastrophe exposure cannot be determined with any precision until after the event. The law of large numbers is limited in its benefit to the reinsured in catastrophes because they have infrequent occurrences as they affect an individual insurance company. The potential of un reinsured catastrophe exposures is fatal to the insurer and if not managed properly, catastrophe perils can destroy the insurance enterprise. After assessing the catastrophe exposure, the next critical thing is to seek for protection to cater for the eventualities. Management through Traditional Reinsurance Protection for the catastrophe risks is provided by reinsurers through Catastrophe excess of loss which covers the reinsured s retention against natural catastrophes accumulations

Essay On Polyphemus And Julfus Polyphemus, one of the most famous archetypes of the Cyclops of ancient Greek mythology, and Bruce Banner, The Hulk from the Marvel film, have made an impact in history with the incredible characteristics they both possess. Although both characters were written in different time periods throughout history, their commonalities are reflected within their personalities. Despite the drastic differences in both their settings, they still manage to show heroism throughout their numerous conflicts. The Hulk is transformed into an enormous gray skinned monster with virtually limitless strength and destructive capability; it embodies the darkest, angriest, and most antisocial aspects of Banner s personality (Sanderson Web). The Hulk s uncontrolled and uncivilized temperament facilitates his transformation which enables him to become an untamed, ferocious beast. The only way that he is able to withdraw an enormous amount of strength is when aggravated by an enemy. Whether the Hulk is at its peak, regarding his fighting ability, always depends on his stress levels. The more stress that he endures, the more strength he exerts which in turn makes him a deadly force. Both Polyphemus and Hulk, when being threatened, tend to portray defensive impulses that bring about their barbaric ways. The aurora borealis appears in many different forms such as patches, clouds of light, arcs, and shooting rays that light up the sky ( Northern Lights, n.d.). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When there are interactions with nitrogen the red, violet, and blue colors are formed. The type of collision that occurs also helps determine what color will appear in the sky. For example, atomic nitrogen causes blue displays, while molecular nitrogen creates a purple display. Another factor that determines the color is the altitude. The green lights typically occur up to 150 miles high, the red color is formed above 150 miles, blue usually appears closer to the surface of the earth at 60 miles, and purple and violet can occur anywhere above 60 miles ( Northern Lights, n.d.). Red is made at the highest altitudes. Due to the low concentration of atoms and lower sensitivity of the human eye, this color is only visible when the solar activity is very intense. Green occurs at lower altitudes with frequent collisions between particles. The high concentration of atomic oxygen and the higher eye sensitivity in green make this the most common color to see in the Northern Lights. The excited nitrogen transfers its energy by colliding to an oxygen atom. This radiates it away to the green wavelength. The blue color occurs at even lower altitudes than the green color. This is because atomic oxygen is uncommon at these heights and molecular nitrogen produces visible light emission. Blue and purple emissions produce the highest levels of solar activity. Additionally, the molecular nitrogen transitions ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Helping Babies Through Neonatal Withdrawal Syndrome Helping Babies Through Neonatal Withdrawal Syndrome Beth Masse University of Maine Augusta Neonatal Withdrawal Syndrome Opioid addicted babies need treatment in the hospital setting to help them through the withdrawal process. Studies are showing what medications to use to help reduce the length of hospital stay. Today, many neonates stay in the hospital much longer than years past, this is generally due to being born addicted to opioids. The United States is suffering from an epidemic of opioid abuse. When a pregnant mother is addicted to opioids these drugs cross the placenta, causing the neonates to be born addicted. According to Hall et al. (2015), this epidemic can cause opioid misuse, overdose or even death. When looking at the United States from 2005 2011, more than 14% of pregnant women were dispensed an opioid at some time in their pregnancy , (Hall, 2015, pg.40). Depending on the length of medication used and timing during the pregnancy will determine how a neonate will withdraw after birth. This withdrawal is becoming a common practice and is known as Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS). By 2015, this syndrome would affect one neonate in 200 births. Improvements in medications and techniques help neonates get through withdrawal. I have created a PICO to help form this paper. For centuries man has created this patriarchal society in which women have been treated as the lesser entity, having no sense of self being or worth. These feelings led women to feel repressed in their everyday life. It was in the late nineteenth century when literary writers started to expose this female repression. Guy de Maupassant and Kate Chopin clearly express definitive examples of female repression in their stories, The Necklace and The Story of an Hour. During this time period, women s role in society was that of a submissive, powerless position. Due to the nature of the organization, the members of the United States Army come from all walks of life, all with unique backgrounds and experiences. Consequentially, the Army is a highly versatile and diverse organization that can accomplish almost any mission. Similarly, the leadership training and education of Craig Mullaney received at West Point, Ranger School, and Oxford were designed to provide him with the necessary knowledge and experience to overcome his challenges he faced in Afghanistan. Essentially, these institutions honed his internal qualities such as hard work and dedication to enable him to lead soldiers. The name of Mullaney s novel, The Unforgiving Minute, describes a unique situation: a point in time when a decision or action must be taken to overcome a difficult scenario, specifically a scenario where either decision leads to a negative outcome. Based on the novel, the unforgiving minute Mullaney faced was when his convoy was ambushed and he lost a soldier. Essentially, the decision he made was to have his dismounted squad assault an enemy position which resulted in an engagement where his soldier was fatally wounded. The first piece of music performed was the Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D Minor. The melody of this piece was very conjunct and smooth. The pitches fit together well and were played staccato, but in the Air, portion the melody became more legato. Since a suite is a collection of dances this is very metric. It is very easy to find a beat and tap your toe to the beat. Every movement of this suite was very easy to find the beat. I believe the piece was in a quadruple meter because the continuo, played by the double bass, could be counted into four. The dynamics were very moderate staying within the range of forte and piano, which is typical of the baroque period when this piece was written. The piece was polyphonic and each section had their own parts that worked together to make the piece. The piece could also be considered a call and response in the Bouree and Gigue movements. • 26. The Effects Of Domestic Violence On Children Essay Domestic violence is a crime of either passion or violence which should never be tolerated by anybody if at all the society is to be made safe enough for people to live in. Domestic violence can be defined as any threatening, abusive, or violent behavior in the home either between adult children and other adult family members (Gibbons, 2011). It can also be used by one intimate partner to establish power and control over the other partner through fear and intimidation. Domestic violence can happen anywhere to anyone of any race, religion, culture, or economic status. It can occur in any relationship, including heterosexual, gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender and also within extended families (Women s Aid 2010). It affects both partners, their children, other family members, friends, and colleagues. Although emotional abuse in a relationship can happen equally regardless of gender, the more threatening and dangerous forms of domestic violence are usually committed by a man against a woman (Patriarchal Roots, n.d). Often the aggressor in a violent relationship feels a high level of ownership over the other partner and the children which too often results in injury or death if this person tries to end the relationship or report the violence. Unfortunately, children are not left out and many times they fall victims of abuse or sexual assault (Sexual violence against women, n.d). One might say that what is good is good because God says it s good. This raises the question asked by many philosophers does God love the good because it is good, or is it good because God loves it? The simple answer is God loves goodness because he is good therefore he commands goodness. All what is considered righteous to God may be found in the Bible. The word of the Bible reveals what God expects from his people. It reveals what is good in his eyes and what is considered evil. The words of the Bible portray the path of which should be followed. Effects of Sucrose Concentration on Rate of Diffusion Through Osmosis Introduction: Many human beings undergo dialysis to filter waste from their blood due to the fact that their kidneys are not working properly. The blood is filtered through a selectively permeable membrane which separates waste from the blood, essentially pumping clean blood back into the body. This is a form of osmosis, which by definition, is the net movement of water across a selectively permeable membrane, which was our dialysis bag in this experiment. (Eisenbach et al. 2017). People who have kidney failure or a kidney disease can become dependent on the use of dialysis to keep them alive. The rate for those who need dialysis and hospitalization continues to grow as these patients fall victim to cardiovascular disease and infection such as sepsis (Thompson and Pannu 2011). In fact children ages 8 18 spend approximately 7.5 hours using technology and social media (New Research, 2014). In every experiment involving placebo it uses either the single blinded method or double blinded. In this experiment we are only using the single blinded method and this is where only the experimenter knows which patient or control group is receiving a placebo. In some experiments they use the double blinded method to make sure neither the patient or the control group know that they are receiving a placebo. The reason they do the double blind method is because when the patient asks the experimenter if she or he is receiving the placebo neither will actually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Low Attendance Culture at NYUAD LOW ATTENDANCE CULTURE AT NYUAD NYUAD Community Events As an Observational Platform for a Complex System It was supposed to be a collaboration among schools, NYUAD and the Sorbonne Abu Dhabi, together for a night of shared poetry on March 13. The event was primarily advertised on Facebook and of both schools populations, 205 people RSVP d. But when the night arrived, NYUAD sophomore Zahida Rahemtulla found herself with only one other companion boarding the bus for the event. At NYUAD, students have the chance to join in various events within the university as well around the city of Abu Dhabi. In fact, NYUAD has created a Student Portal, a website designed to list these events and update students, faculty and stuff of the different locations and dates of such events. In this sense, NYUADers are literally one click away from being part of a certain meeting or event. However, over the last few years there have been a noticeable culture of overcommitting and then not attending . Most of the organized events reach the student population with loud Facebook campaigns and tempting slogans such as free , yet people still fail to show up when they need to. Could it be that students fail to attend these meetings due to the overwhelming publicity? It is quite understandable that freshmen of all classmen are the ones who over commit; they are simply excited to part of the university life. As freshmen adapt to college routine, they start to realize what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Digital World Is Affecting Today s Youth Sandra Boyd analyzes how nearly ubiquitous access to the digital world is affecting today s youth in It s Complicated. She explains how the app generation is struggling to self identify and successfully leverage the Internet to be app enabled. Youth s app dependency is a result of access to digital technology and social media at an early age, and is preventing youth from properly self identifying themselves. This, in turn, is affecting how they build relationships and how they think creatively. The online community our group has decided to look into is the PCMasterRace subreddit. This subreddit is a community of PC gamers sharing information about computer hardware, post creative and visually appealing computer configurations (called builds or rigs ) and post satirical or funny pictures about trending topics. Reddit provides a platform for people with unique special interests (i.e. PC s) to communicate and collaborate; it is a place where relationships have the opportunity to be built and where creative ideas can be expressed openly. Recently, a major topic of this subreddit has been to help console peasants ascend to the ranks of the PC Master Race. Console peasants often deny that PCs outrank consoles in terms of performance and ability when gaming and respond to PCMasterRace commentary by posting nonsense, making claims that playing at suboptimal graphics settings on their consoles make for a better atmosphere and an overall superior gaming experience. ... • 39. Thesis Statement On Sea Cucumbers I aspire to be a scientist who makes real connections between seemingly disparate problems or challenges and finds human value in scientific knowledge. For my doctoral research, I want to study unfamiliar marine organisms in unfamiliar habitats to contribute to new knowledge and discover new species. To these ends, I will connect my graduate thesis on sea cucumbers with my ongoing research on mesophotic reefs. Sea cucumbers (Echinodermata: Holothuroidea) are diverse worm like organisms that evolved and diversified for over 400 million years. Mesophotic reefs are found at 30 to 150 meter depths and developed after the last Ice Age, over 10,000 years ago. In my country, the Philippines, these deep reefs offer something of a last hope for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sadly a larger proportion of individuals reach for the potato chips and other processed foods. While this may not seem like a big deal, the children of those individuals who watch reach for those foods with each trip to the store begin to pick them up themselves. This causes an issue within the emerging generation. It is believed that more agricultural teachings in schools would help to get families to eat more fruits and vegetables. A study done by Meinen and Friese (et al.) studied how increased interaction with gardens increased the likelihood of children to try new fruits and vegetables. In this study 28 schools were chosen and randomly assigned to receive a garden or to be a control. Of the schools that received a garden most of the students had both a greater understanding of agriculture and how to grow their own food as well as were choosing fresh fruit over potato chips more often than not. Perhaps the most shocking result of the experiment that parents of these students noted was that their children were more likely to try something new, some even asked to get fruits from the supermarket (Meinen 2012). While this is one step in the correct direction it is not completely there, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done in fear of what could happen without it. Similarly to Scarface and The Godfather , violence and crime are key themes in the films and therefore the male characters dominate the violent scenes and radiate willpower. Mia Wallace, the wife of the gangster Marsellus Wallace is portrayed as powerful and seductive. At first, it appears that she is stable within her relationship with Wallace, and is additionally feared by other individuals such as Vincent, when he arrives at her house to escort her for a night out. However, later on Mia mistakes heroin for cocaine and manages to overdose, which results in her relying on the man in her life because she is so weak. Even so, in the promotional poster of Pulp Fiction , Uma Thurman (Mia), is shown posing on a bed with a cigarette in one hand and a gun in front of her. This in many ways signifies power as the gun has become a key piece of iconography in the gangster genre, and guns hold a lot of power in them as they have the ability, with help, to kill or cause serious bodily harm. Nevertheless, this is misleading as the women, specifically Mia Wallace, do not actually hold any power in the film. Mia Wallace s character is a reminder of Marsellus ...
