Fun Facts About Football History
Abstract:
Hey you guys and girls, today we will be discussing the things that I love to talk about the most, the
game of football its history. Throughout this essay we will be hitting on the following topics: three fun
facts about football; who deserved the game of football and how; who was the first four players to
diversify the game of football; Who were the first colleges to pick up the game of football; a visual
and results of survey in with I conducted by asking mi classmates five random questions about the
game of football; and finally what makes the game better and/ or worse than it is today.
From the early ages in history to the present day, the game of football has always been an important
part of society. In a way It teaches its players things like: self discipline, how to be a team player, how
to interact with others and it s also a good source of physical activity. Throughout history the game
itself has changed; from the first rounded ball that was to throw, to the modern prolate spheroid
shaped ball of today that is air dynamic and easier to throw (how it s made). But hears the biggies
question, is the game of football better now than it was in in its prime. I would say my reason for
picking this topic, would be because most people like me love the game football, but there are some
who love the game as well, but don t know or keep up with the changes rule and/ or polices.

Gold Rush Challenges
Being a gold prospector during the Gold Rush was inarguably one of the most challenging obstacles a
human being could ever face. Some might even consider the lengths people were willing to go to for
gold rather reckless and idiotic because of how menacing these obstacles were. The challenges that
people during the Gold Rush faced, while somewhat incomprehensible to people now, was an
extremely important goal to people in the 1800 s. In the articles Race to the Klondike and All About
the Klondike Gold Mines , these challenges are thoroughly described and include examples of how
people lived during the Gold Rush, one of the most terrifying journeys in history. In the article Race to
the Klondike , the author goes in explicit detail about the mind boggling challenges faced during the
Gold Rush, including the treacherous journey. The travel was arguably the most gruelling part of the

People that were inclined to look for gold were forced to make beds in the numbing cold of the snow,
which made for unfortunate living conditions. The food had to be carefully looked after so that it was
not eaten by animals, and when it turned dark it was mandatory to tie their food up in trees.
Forgetfulness would not be tolerated when it came to looking after your food because if you forgot to
tie it up, even once, you would face starvation or have to turn back and abandon your aspiration to
locate gold. The journey felt like an extensively long time, and they had to make camp often because
of the heavy luggage that was impossible to bear for excessive periods of time. These situations were
bound to turn anybody weary and, from an outsider s perspective, even be enough for a person to
desert your ambition of finding riches completely, but people in the past managed to endure these
problems, despite them being some of the hardest challenges ever

Introduction
In 2000, the Board of Ursinus College, raised its tuition from $19,331 to $23,460. This turned out to
be a 17.6% increase. Surprisingly, the tuition increase proved to be a positive change for Ursinus
College. The college received more than 200 applicants than its previous year (Brickley, Smith and
Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). Other regional institutions such as University of Notre Dame, Bryn Mawr
College and Rice University also experienced a similar trend once they increased their tuition rates
(Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). The president of Ursinus College deduced that the
tuition increase affected enrollment rate (increased enrollment). She simply stated that people don t
want cheap (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). Today, Susan Hansen, Admissions
Director of East Liberal Arts College, wishes to increase tuition and reduce financial aid available to
students (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). Moreover, she has expressed that increasing
tuition and reducing the amount of financial aid will solve the schools financial problems (Brickley,
Smith and Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). This will be done by increasing an effective tuition from
$15,000 to $25,000 (Brickley et al., 2009). She also projects that the tuition increase enrollment from
400 to 600 students (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman,

Complementary And Alternative Therapies
Discuss the various methods of complementary and alternative therapies.
CAMS are divided into five different categories: biological, manipulative body, mind body, energy,
and alternative medicine. For example, dance therapy would fall under the manipulative body based
interventions, while mind body interventions encompass alternatives like poetry, art, or music, and
yoga would be an example of mind body interventions and manipulative body. Participants in music
therapy have reported improved quality of life, and yoga therapy has been shown to lead individuals
towards motivation to health improvement. As well, dance therapy has been proven to improve body
image, coordination, body awareness, depression, anxiety, and stress relief; as well, sexual abuse
survivors have used dance therapy to reconnect with their body by coping and processing, as well as
give them a sense of freedom from their trauma (Complementary and Integrative, n.d.). ... Show more

particularly those with autism. In conjunction with traditional therapies and treatment plans, it is
proven to be very effective in regards to posture, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, as well as body
and cognitive awareness. There is also extensive research done looking at how coping and
communication skills improved in individuals since the start of hippotherapy (Ajzenman, Shurtleff,

Impact Of British On India
From the 1700s to 1947, Britain recognized India as the jewel in the crown because India was the
most valuable colony they controlled. Indian s life quality had a big improvement under the British s
rule. Britain had built a railroad line for India making long distance trading more possible and faster.
The railroad line also brought people in different regions closer and made exchanging ideas easier.
Other important public facilities and technologies had helped India to emerge a modern economy.
India was also able to connect and learn something from the outside world. In conclusion, Britain s
construction of railroad line, bridges, telegraphic lines and canals was its most noteworthy impact on
India s economy that had pushed the modernization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Starting form the 1800s, British helped to get rid of many old cruel laws existing. However, there were
still political issues that the British and the India didn t agree on about that caused many conflicts. The
most significant impact by British on India s politics was showed by the adoption and the change of
the government structure. Today s India government is similar with British government because they
had adopted some of their structure from the British Government. During the British Raj, viceroy
headed the government and he had the strongest power. Many British officials were under his govern
and there was also a council with appointed members. This council acted like an imperial legislative
council and was the cabinet of the Raj government (Parliament.UK). During this period, Indians had
slowly learned about how a western government works. So after the British Raj ended, the native
Indians adopted some of British government structure and set up their own independent government,
Union Government of India. In the system, President enjoys the greatest power in India. His role was
similar to the viceroy that he had all the constitutional power. Under the President, there were Vice

Schism Between Sunni And Shiite Caliph
A caliph is the chief Muslim civil and religious ruler, regarded as the successor of Muhammad. Sunni
and Shiite split the old caliph died, also because Muhammad did not leave clear instructions on who
should be next caliph and everyone wanted their family to be the next caliph. A schism happened
between the Shiites and the Sunni because they couldn t decide who should be the next caliph. Caliph
is a religious and political leader of the Muslim community This is important because it means

The dispute over the succession of Muhammad led to the battle of Jamal and battle of Siffin . When
this happened it caused civil war across Islam and led to the death of Hussein bin ali. The Shiites
believed that the successor of the prophet Muhammad should stay within his family bloodline . This
led to an argument between the Sunni and Shiites that caused a split between the the Sunni and Shiite.
The Sunni believed that the leadership role should be given to someone chosen by the upper class
people of the Islamic culture. By this happening it led to an argument between the Sunni and Shiite
that eventually led to the Sunni and Shiite schism. The Sunni prevailed and were able to choose the
first caliph after the prophet Muhammad. When this happened it told the Shiites that the Sunni had
more power that then them and that they needed to fight back if they wanted their way. The battle
between the two groups split them into two peoples that would never reunite with each other. By this

Analysis of an Advertisement Essay
As I finished reading a rather intellectually stimulating article in a popular men s magazine, I flipped
the page to reveal quite an interesting advertisement. My gaze fell upon the following print ad, which
contained the photograph of a decrepit old man dressed in a black suit, wearing a diamond encrusted
gold dollar sign ring, embraced by a wedding gown clad, large breasted, peroxide bleached blond,
young bimbo. Next to the shocking newly weds was a new, cherry red Dodge Viper convertible,
parked on a black patterned brick driveway, in front of a gorgeous mansion wall adorned with lavish
vegetation and concrete Grecian pottery overflowing with ferns. The inept, liver spotted, incontinent,
prune like old geezer stood in vulgar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It appeared that the reader was being subjected to an advertisement for divorce or for potential
infidelity rather than that for a sports car. It is completely absurd to suppose for one second that these
people devoted themselves to each other out of love. From the old man s point of view, this woman
had become nothing more than another one of his exquisite possessions, hardly more important or
significant than his precious Dodge Viper. The woman has become an object and the manufacturer
would like for you to feel that ownership of this car will make anything you desire more attainable.
By depicting their automobile in such a situation, the Dodge Company has made it seem as though
owning their sports car is like diving into a fountain of youth. How else could this white haired,
balding, old man have scored such a ripe attractive young woman? Aside from his apparent wealth,
she must want him for his car. Aging has a direct correlation with decrease in both sexual
attractiveness and libido. It would seem to be very appealing for an older man to be able to marry a
young, sexy woman, and this advertisement claims that ownership of this automobile makes an old
man more desirable. Financially endowed males are the target audience of this advertisement. It

Essay On Organized Crime
Organized crime has existed since the creation of the world, but has evolved over time. Before the
1920s, most organized crime consisted of gambling and prostitution. The passing of the 18th
Amendment significantly changed organized crime for many years. It gave rise to bootlegging,
gangsters, gang wars, and other various crimes. Bootlegging became the main source of income for
gangsters, helping them fund their other crimes. Overall, the passing of the 18th Amendment caused
organized crime to broaden and become a much larger industry. America had started to see much more
crime and violence early in the 1900s due to the large increase in immigration. Many Americans had

the gang. Once Torrio was shot by a rival gang, Capone became the leader of the gang. Capone
quickly became the most feared crime boss in Chicago, organizing machine gun attacks and paying off
politicians and police officers. One of Capone s most well known attacks was the St. Valentine s Day

the seven gang members had their hands raised, facing a wall, the police officer imposters open fired

Daryl Bem Self Perception Theory
In 1967, Daryl Bem, a social psychologist, created a theory that was drawn from the impression
formation and attribution theories and developed the theory of self perception. Self perception is
defined as follows, Self perception theory relies on situational and dispositional attributions similar to
attribution theory (Frymier207). Bem created this theory to help understand one s understanding their
own behavior through the same attributions that a person uses to understand someone else s behavior.
Within self perception theory, the person observes themselves in the same manner in which they
observe others and use that process to acknowledge our own behaviors or ideas of ourselves. Bem
suggest that there are two postulates that are associated with self perception theory. The first is that
individuals get to know themselves through the observation of their own behaviors or situations in
which certain behaviors occur. Second is that external cues have little affect and the individual is in
the same position as an outside observer. An example of this would be the foot in the door effect.
Self perception theory from a psychological stand point is that a person s feelings and attitudes come
from their external behaviors. Similarly, with self perception theory, persuasion involves person acting
and then figuring out their behavior or attitudes (Frymier207).

12 Characteristics Of An Effective Teacher
Philosophy of Mathematics
A philosophy of mathematics should be included in an excellent philosophy of education. A
philosophy of mathematics should include your thoughts and ideas about what mathematics education
is, what impact it has on society, the qualities that make a good teacher, a teacher s role, research on
the standards and instructional strategies, and ways to ensure student are able to learn mathematic
concepts in your classroom. Each of these ideas should forever be evolving because we grow as
teachers our thought and ideas will grow. I will be discussing my thoughts and ideas on what creates
an excellent philosophy of mathematics.

Teachers also have to have special qualities to make them an effective teacher. According to Robert J.
Walker teachers need to have twelve basic characteristics that he highlights in his article Twelve
Characteristics of an Effective Teacher. The twelve characteristic included in the article are being
prepared, positive attitude, high expectations, creative, fair, personal touch, sense of belonging,
compassionate, have a sense of humor, respectful, forgiving and able to admit mistakes. I believe
Walker has encompassed all the important characteristic of an effective teach. These are all
characteristics that I possess, which will make me an effective teacher (Walker, 2008). Cathy L.
Seeley believes there are ten roles teachers have in the classroom that she highlights in her article Ten
Roles for Math teachers. I found these roles to be creative in description of their purpose. Those ten
roles are: 1) An architect for creating a learning environment. 2) A composer for creating the tasks the
student will engage. 3) A director because teachers determine how students will relate to each other,
their tasks, and the environment. 4) A stockbroker which is where the teacher analyzes their own
teaching and the students learning. 5) A ship captain, which deals with the unpredictable factors and
make sure the students learning does not veer off course. 6) A red jacket which helps the students
experience the connection between the different concepts of mathematics. 7) The

Student Successful After High School
Rough draft #2 What makes a student successful after high school? Is it the goals they set and then
achieved? Is it because of the support of family and friends? or is it the teacher? Teachers are the
hardest working people on the planet. They create the foundation in which a child will learn to be
comfortable in life, but what makes a good teacher, what qualities do these teachers have that help a
student become successful in life. Students are affected by the teacher and the teacher by the student
like how Plato became one of the the greatest philosophers in the world because of his Teachers
aristotle and Socrates over centuries ago. Plato even opened the first higher learning institution in the
western world because of the warm affirmation of his teachers Aristotle and Socrates. Likewise the
teaching world is very different from one thousand years ago such as the dwindling requirements to

For Offred
Freedom, like everything else, is relative. p. 267 My Reaction: I completely agree with this point,
although I hadn t previously given the statement much thought. With context, the definition of
freedom definitely changes. This got me thinking, is there even a true definition of freedom? For
Offred, her old life became the definition of freedom, but prior to the Gileadean regime, it was
something else. Maybe freedom could be defined as the life in our dreams, but as you get closer to
achieving that dream, a new dream comes into play. The relativity associated with freedom, I think, is
what makes freedom so hard to define. In my opinion, a better description of freedom would be what

Voting In Presidential Elections Essay
Introduction
The Constitution excludes a substantial number of American citizens from the democratic process.
Approximately four million Americans residing in the U.S. territories lack voting rights and full
voting representation in Congress; consequently, creating a second class citizenship with partial
constitutional rights. These policies articulate the historically silenced voices of the people of the U.S.
territories by their democratic government. However, amending the Constitution does not come
without consequence: political pressures will maintain U.S. territory policy, fostering resentment and
inequality, and lowering the standards necessary to sustain a democratic society, leaving the people of
the U.S. territories less efficient ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Court ruled in Igartua de la Rosa v. United States that citizens of Puerto Rico could not vote in

Electoral College. The Courts based all three decisions on the application of an electoral college,
where electors?not the public?have the right to elect the President of the United States. Because the

Rewarding Volunteers
Running Head: Rewarding Volunteers Rewarding Volunteers Rewarding Volunteers Understaffing is
one of the emerging and escalating grave issues in the modern world of today, because of the growing
of fierce competition in every facet of life. Understaffing for a shorter span of time within the
organization does not result in creation of long term issues. However, if this understaffing is extended
for a longer period and becomes permanent, the organization is likely to experience catastrophic
impacts, as it creates significant problems for both the individual and the organization (Chartrand,
2004). While on the other hand, the Online University has employed volunteers at their broadcasting
station because of budgetary constraints. The problem of understaffing has been observed at Online
University due to the ineffectual program director that did not get along with the volunteers.
Considering the aspect of understaffing at the Online University, numerous causes add to this problem.
The program director that plays the role of a leader is a vital and imperative position that has
contributed to understaffing to a large extent (Chartrand, 2004). The overload of the jobs and tasks
that is the extra work required to accomplish by the existing volunteers raise the probability of burning
out of the volunteers due to longer working hours in order to fulfill the responsibilities of certain roles.
This long working hours and handling multiple tasks simultaneously simply results in

Response To Naturalism
Aquinas s Response to Naturalism
Introduction
In this paper, I will do three things: (1) summarize an overview of what naturalism is by detailing its
history and illustrating it with the views of characteristic thinkers, (2) explain what is known as
Aquinas s Thomist Law and finally (3) discuss whether or not Thomist Law commits the naturalistic
fallacy.
1 What Is Naturalism?
Naturalism can be best summed up as a philosophical methodology as opposed to doctrine that abides
by these three characteristics:
1. Philosophy should regard the methods of science quite seriously.
2. When a philosophical claim and a scientific claim of equal strength conflict with each other, the
scientific claim wins out.
3. Philosophical and scientific ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

3. Humans goods are those goods to which humans have natural inclinations (i.e. to know the truth
about God and the achievement of societal harmony).Ibid, 154.
2.2 Kinds of Law
There are four different kinds of law in Aquinas s moral framework. I described above, in detailing the
types of reasoning that exist in Aquinas s thought, the underlying mechanisms behind Natural Law,
which is just one strain of Thomist Law. Besides Natural Law, there is Eternal Law, Divine Law, and
Natural Law.
Eternal Law details the structure of the cosmos: it is concerned with the ineffable and intangible divine
qualities that transcend human experience and pervade throughout the universe.
Natural Law cooperates with Eternal Law, in that living by the Natural Law Aquinas s belief that man
ought to and is inclined toward pursuing good and avoiding evil confers participation in Eternal Law
and, hence, the divine.
Human Law is what dictates legal systems, and is entirely man made for the practical day to day
regulations of society. It is conventional and possesses no ontological meaning, but it can be just by
way of agreeing with Natural Law as its logical

Research Methodology For A Researcher
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY Research methodology involves the design which a researcher ought
to use to study a topic of interest. It therefore involves the procedure by which researchers undertake
their work and the framework within which is conducted (Rajasekar et al., 2013; Remenyi et al.,
1998). Research Methodology aids research planning, if properly design it will enable a researcher to
arrive at results or findings and tools that can either be used to disprove or approve such knowledge.
(Nachamias et al., 1996; Saunders et al.,2003). This chapter outlines data collection procedure as well
as how data is analyse for this study. These involve choice of the sampling frame, sampling
techniques, how interviews were designed and conducted as well as questionnaire administration, time
horizon, transcription of interviews and analysis of responses, ethical concerns and limitations of the
methods. Qualitative Research Methods Qualitative research method was chosen for this study. It
involves an interpretative inquiry and a naturalistic approach to an area of study (Denzin, Lincoln,
2005; Qazi, 2011). Researchers therefore make an interpretation of what they observe, hear, and
understand (Creswell 2003). Qualitative research method was suitable and adopted to deal with the
study objectives since the research was more naturalistic, participant driven and comprehensive
(Ciceu, 2015) as well as inquiring. Methods of Data Collection For the purpose of this research survey

Essay about Against Making Flag Burning Illegal
Flag Burning
There is a great travesty going on in America right now. Everyday, people are fighting to stop one of
America s greatest freedoms, the freedom of speech. Even this way of exercising America s greatest
amendment, freedom of speech, is not liked by all people it is still protected under our nation s law.
The act of publicly burning an American flag is something that is deemed disgraceful by many
Americans, but it should not be outlawed.
Many people are offended by the act of publicly burning an American flag and feel it should be
outlawed based on the fact that it is offensive to the citizens of this country. Although this may be true,
people still have the right to protest. This was upheld in a Supreme Court case ... Show more content

The flag is a symbol of the United States, and what happens to the flag does not directly affect the
United States, therefore it should not be outlawed. The supporters who want to outlaw the act of
publicly burning a flag feel that it is demeaning to the United States. Although this may be true and
many Americans feel this way, our country was built on the understanding and ability of every person
to protest the actions of the government. Rep. Randy Cunningham, a supporter for the ban of flag
burning, said on the House floor To watch somebody burn the American flag represents a destruction
of [the United State s] values, of [the United State s] ideas and of [the United State s] thoughts. (Cong.
Rec. July 2000.) Although this claim is a very good one, I believe the better truth was stated during a
U.S. Supreme Court Case. In the case United States v. Eichman it was stated But the mere destruction
or disfigurement of a particular physical manifestation of the symbol, without more, does not diminish
or otherwise affect the symbol itself in any way (3). This statement shows one of the underlining
problems with the people who argue that flag burning should be outlawed. The flag is a symbol of this
country, and in no way does burning the flag actually affect this country. Even the veterans of our wars
feel that outlawing flag burning is something that should never be done. MSGT. (R) Marvin Virgil
Stenhammar said, Any country that

Impact of Movies
IMPACT OF MOVIES
THE THREE BIG LIES
The three lies that often movies and movie makers say .....
1. It s only entertainment. It does not influence anybody.
2. We just reflect reality. Don t blame us; blame the society.
3. We give the public what it wants. If people don t like it they can always turn it off.
IMPACT OF
Among all media, movies play a major role in impacting the thinking pattern of the society. The
question is whether the influence is positive or negative?
As we all know if a super duper movie is released today then, tomorrow there will be a great demand
of dress of the actor which he wore in the movie. Day after tomorrow people will start coping the
styles in which he talks, walks and behaves. This all means that ... Show more content on

Studies are finding that boys, like girls, may turn to smoking to lose weight. Even the
Bollywood/Hollywood fashion has a huge impact on the youth. When youngsters see their favorite
actors/actresses wearing fashionable clothes and accessories they imitate them. So, to copy their style
icons, they spend thousands to lakhs of rupees to have the same pair of shoes or dress. They don t
mind spending money, but they want to look just as perfect as their favorite movie star. In this way the
fashion statements set by celebrities lay a negative impact on youngsters. ALCOHOL, DRUGS,
SMOKING: Movies are spoiling the youth and children most because there is the competition
between youths to copy the style of the hero either it was good or bad. Children who watch a lot of
movies featuring alcohol are twice as likely to start drinking compared to other kids who watch
relatively few of such films, according to new research. The more smoking and drinking that young
teens see in movies, the more likely they are to start smoking or binge drink, according to a pair of
new studies. To find out more about movies influence on alcohol use in young teens, researchers
surveyed more than 16,000 adolescents ages 10 to 19. They randomly picked 50 box office hits from a
list of 655 films. They then asked the teens how often they had seen each movie, which was color
coded for scenes of alcohol use. Overall, 86 percent

Physician-Patient Relationship Paper
From this weeks, I have enjoyed readings from Dr. Toombs thesis. The physician patient relationship
has been extremely important in the healthcare industry. Rather than representing a shared reality
between the patient and the physician, illness often represents two different realities. The first is that
there is a meaning of one being significantly quantitative different from the other. It is critical to
realize that in order for a person to be treated in the right way, there is a need for one to have good
communication between the doctor and the patient.
The doctor and the patient have two different perspectives regarding illness. They each have their own
world and they look at it in their own way. In fact, the different perspectives often

The Role Of Femme False In Greek Mythology
The myth involving a femme fatale has been prevalent in all cultures. There are several examples of
women who were capable of using their sexuality to lure men to their death. These women were often
portrayed as evil or demonic, some source of danger. Such as Lilith, the Sirens, and the mermaids. The
objective is to identify each goddess, mythical creature, and/or minor deity in all of the mythologies
we have studied that match these criteria. The Egyptian, Middle Eastern, Chinese, Germanic, Nordic,
Roman, Egyptian, and Celtic cultures. It appears that almost all if not all of the cultures in the world
had a temptress. Part of it is a personal interest in each major female deity and the matriarchal myths.

Pip s Internal Pacifist Struggles Essay
Dickens introduced Pip as a child, an element essential to the understanding of Pip s internal
moralistic struggles. The establishment of young Pip makes the audience view Pip as an innocent and
honest person. Children are often deemed to be more honest and simple than adults. When Pip first
encounters the convict, the appearance of him scares Pip out of his mind. The man threatens Pip to
bring him a few items otherwise he will go after his family. He also tells Pip to not tell a soul about
him or he will be hurt as well. What Pip fails to realize is that the convict is cold, as he has been
soaked in water (10), and hungry, which was made clear when he ate the bread ravenously (11). Not
only that, the convict can barely walk correctly since he has a limp. Putting all of it together, the
convict is in no shape to be chasing after Pip and his family to harm them. Because Pip is an innocent
child, he cannot put those clues together and obeys the convict out of fear anyway. Pip has had a
strong sense of morals since a young age. After the incident with the man in the marshes, the guilt of
the idea of lying to Joe, his step brother who has always treated him with affection, bites his
conscience. Pip refers stealing from Joe, and Mrs. Joe, his sister, a guilty knowledge (19). It shows
that Pip does not like stealing from them, no matter how badly Mrs. Joe treats him and his moralistic
standards. He got the job done and brought the requested items to the man. Once he got

Flatland Analysis
Flatland
There are many things in this world, and in others, that I believe cannot be fully understood. For
example, in the story of Flatland, A. Square explains his world and what he thinks of ours. To him, our
world has space, thus calling it Spaceland, which is something they do not have in Flatland, hints the
name Flat land. In effort to explain the difference in the worlds, one would find it confusing and hard
to comprehend Abbott s writing, especially for those of us who have only been told and informed
about the world of three dimensions. In mentioning of only being informed of one subject, I would
like to bring to your attention that there are some things some people are totally oblivious to. I bet you

Bizarre Fruit
Bizarre Fruit
In the mid 1930 s, the south would perform, what they believed to be acts of justice by hanging, or
lynching, black men who were convicted of doing a crime. The Poem Strange Fruit is an interesting
poem depicts a very horrid image of pure racism in the south and how lynchings were such a
gruesome image, and was meant to be a protest against the inhumanity of racism (Blair) . The poem
Strange Fruit was published in 1937 by Abel Meeropol after he viewed an image of a lynching that
occurred in the south. Meeropol was haunted by the image and was inspired to write and publish the
poem (Meeropol). Abel Meeropol was already against racism in America and when he saw the
appalling image of two African American people being lynched ... Show more content on

The elements of imagery are seen in the poem when Abel writes The bulgin eyes and the twisted
mouth (6). The sentence describes a very horrid image of how the African Americans looks as they
were being hanged against their will. This depicts imagery because it gives a very detailed image in
the reader s mind of how they looked like as they were hanged. Personification is present in the poem
Strange Fruit when Meeropol writes For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck (10). This is
personification because it gives the rain the trait of gathering things, and it also gives the wind the trait
of sucking. Within the poem, Meeropol also includes juxtaposition, for example when he says Scent of
magnolias sweet and fresh/ Then the sudden smell of burnin flesh (7 8). This is an example of
juxtaposition because it brings out the difference between the sweet smell of a flower, and the bad
dark smell of burning flesh, and it makes the difference between those things more apparent.
Throughout the poem Strange Fruit Meeropol also uses metaphors, such as when he puts Southern
trees bear a strange fruit (1) in his poem. The entire poem itself is a metaphor because the poem
compares African Americans that have been lynched, and the strange fruit that hangs from trees. The
poem is comparing the strange fruit to it actually being the African Americans that were

Concerto Grosso Music
Baroque Concerto Grosso
A Concerto Grosso is a genre of music where the musical material is passed between a small group of
soloists (the concertino) and a full orchestra (the ripieno). The concertino generally has more virtuosic
music than the ripieno, and they do not often share thematic material. It was developed in the late 17th
Century, although the term Concerto Grosso would not be used until 1698 when Gregori published a
set of 10 compositions.
There are 2 forms of the Concerto Grosso the concerto da chíesa (a church concert) and the concerto
da camera (a chamber concert). The concerto da chíesa alternated between fast and slow movements,
and the concerto da camera was similar to a suite, in that it was introduced by a prelude, and
incorporated popular dance ideas of the time.
Concerto Grosso in D minor Concerto Grosso in D minor was composed by Antonio Vivaldi and was
published in 1711. The concertino is made up of two violins and a cello, and the ripieno is made up of
strings and a continuo. For the first 20 bars of the piece, the two solo violins play unaccompanied. The
second movement (the Adagio e spiccato) is extremely short (only three bars long), and the
instrumentation is tutti, as everyone is playing. In the third movement the solo cello does not play as
the solo violins converse with each other. The Concerto is in D minor, and rarely changes key,
however it does modulate briefly to the subdominant and the dominant keys (G minor and A minor).

Emirates Airline: Connecting the Unconnected
Introduction
Late afternoon was fading to dusk as Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, gazed out at the large
crowds mingling outside at the 2013 Dubai Airshow. Front and center at the event was the official
program launch of the Boeing 777X, a massive new hit thanks to Emirates record order of 150 new
planes. Valued at $76 billion at list prices, this was the largest airplane deal ever inked. Letting his
thoughts drift, he noted, he imagined with pride these planes joining the collection of widebodied
Emirates planes assembled on the tarmac of Dubai International Airport, ready to ferry passengers
from Europe, Asia, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Aviation in the Middle East
The 1980s aviation market in the Middle East was dominated by Gulf Air, a regional carrier backed by
the states of Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, and the emirate of Abu Dhabi. While several European carriers
serviced the region, the overall market was small and Gulf Air maintained a high market share. The
majority of its flights emanated from its four hub cities to points in the Middle East, South
Asia, and Europe, primarily on a point to point network.
As a non core city for Gulf Air, Dubai experienced reductions in air service in 1985 that compelled
Dubai s leaders to launch its own airline. Local airline expertise was minimal, so the royal family
commissioned a small team of expatriate airline veterans, helmed by Sir Maurice Flanagan, to charter
the service they named Emirates. Divisional Senior Vice President (SVP) of Corporate
Communications, Marketing Brand Boutros Boutros remarked, Locals or expats, management all had
the same outlook and shared mentality, which ultimately helped build a successful and cohesive
executive team. 6 Armed with only two planes and $10 million in seed capital provided by the
Government of Dubai, the airline initially developed a regional focus to connect underserved markets.

The Importance Of Community Ligagement And Outreach...
Community engagement and outreach librarians are a relatively new and growing speciality in public
librarianship. The idea of outreach is not a new concept for libraries. The Offices for Literacy and
Outreach Services was established in the 1970s, formerly the Office for Literacy Services to the
Disadvantaged (McCook, 2011). While community engagement and outreach can have different
connotations, for the purposes of this paper, they are going to be used interchangeably, as the duties
and responsibilities for each type of librarian does not vary much in job postings. The ALA describes
outreach librarians as providers of equitable delivery of library services to all people through the
development of programs, policies, practices, and behaviors which make the library available to all
people (ALA, n.d. c). Many libraries are just hiring their first community engagement and outreach
librarians, such as The Verona Public Library (Newton, 2017). Community engagement and outreach
librarians seek ways in which to develop deep connections with the community organizations and
residents while being the face of the library. This staffing trend moves libraries away from their desks
and out into the community to reach community members where they are (Stevenson Domsy, 2016).
Scope and Tasks A big question in outreach is should the goal be focused on bringing people into the
library or bringing library services out into the community (M. Gehrke, personal communication,

Essay about Two Suits, Two Dresses, or One of Each
How can denying two people of the same sex the right to have a marriage be considered
constitutional? Why is our country taking away rights of people because they want to be with

time now. Same sex couples should be allowed to express and celebrate their commitment to a partner
the same way a heterosexual couple does, as well as obtain the same benefits. Our country is not a

This means the government cannot enact laws that prevent marriage between individuals of a certain
sexual orientation. If marriage is considered a civil liberty, then the 14th amendment should stop the
government from making laws that prohibit civil liberties based on a person s choice in a partner. . . .
Section 3 of DOMA violates the equal protection clause because it treats gay man and lesbians
differently on the basis of their sexual orientation (Hanna 30). If we continue to strike down laws like
DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act), which denied same sex couples the right to marry, we can fight
this controversy and help innocent people obtain a right that they were born with.
Some people may argue that marriage has always been defined as between one man and one woman
or that allowing gay marriage will weaken the institution of marriage. Extending to gays and lesbians
the right to marry would undermine traditional marriage, and therefore, governments have a valid
reason to maintain the traditional definition of it (Hanna 29). It is inaccurate to define marriage as
between one man and one woman because our world history is full of polygamy, concubines,
mistresses, and prostitution. Kings in the past had many women and this was considered normal, one
could say that the traditional marriage is the one that is not normal. We redefine things as the general
attitudes about them

  • 2. Fun Facts About Football History Abstract: Hey you guys and girls, today we will be discussing the things that I love to talk about the most, the game of football its history. Throughout this essay we will be hitting on the following topics: three fun facts about football; who deserved the game of football and how; who was the first four players to diversify the game of football; Who were the first colleges to pick up the game of football; a visual and results of survey in with I conducted by asking mi classmates five random questions about the game of football; and finally what makes the game better and/ or worse than it is today. From the early ages in history to the present day, the game of football has always been an important part of society. In a way It teaches its players things like: self discipline, how to be a team player, how to interact with others and it s also a good source of physical activity. Throughout history the game itself has changed; from the first rounded ball that was to throw, to the modern prolate spheroid shaped ball of today that is air dynamic and easier to throw (how it s made). But hears the biggies question, is the game of football better now than it was in in its prime. I would say my reason for picking this topic, would be because most people like me love the game football, but there are some who love the game as well, but don t know or keep up with the changes rule and/ or polices. ... • 3. Gold Rush Challenges Being a gold prospector during the Gold Rush was inarguably one of the most challenging obstacles a human being could ever face. Some might even consider the lengths people were willing to go to for gold rather reckless and idiotic because of how menacing these obstacles were. The challenges that people during the Gold Rush faced, while somewhat incomprehensible to people now, was an extremely important goal to people in the 1800 s. In the articles Race to the Klondike and All About the Klondike Gold Mines , these challenges are thoroughly described and include examples of how people lived during the Gold Rush, one of the most terrifying journeys in history. In the article Race to the Klondike , the author goes in explicit detail about the mind boggling challenges faced during the Gold Rush, including the treacherous journey. The travel was arguably the most gruelling part of the Gold Rush, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People that were inclined to look for gold were forced to make beds in the numbing cold of the snow, which made for unfortunate living conditions. The food had to be carefully looked after so that it was not eaten by animals, and when it turned dark it was mandatory to tie their food up in trees. Forgetfulness would not be tolerated when it came to looking after your food because if you forgot to tie it up, even once, you would face starvation or have to turn back and abandon your aspiration to locate gold. The journey felt like an extensively long time, and they had to make camp often because of the heavy luggage that was impossible to bear for excessive periods of time. These situations were bound to turn anybody weary and, from an outsider s perspective, even be enough for a person to desert your ambition of finding riches completely, but people in the past managed to endure these problems, despite them being some of the hardest challenges ever ... • 4. The Tuition Increase Affected Enrollment Rate Table of Contents Introduction 3 Background 4 Analysis 5 Factors 6 Recommendation 7 Conclusion 8 References 9 Introduction In 2000, the Board of Ursinus College, raised its tuition from $19,331 to $23,460. This turned out to be a 17.6% increase. Surprisingly, the tuition increase proved to be a positive change for Ursinus College. The college received more than 200 applicants than its previous year (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). Other regional institutions such as University of Notre Dame, Bryn Mawr College and Rice University also experienced a similar trend once they increased their tuition rates (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). The president of Ursinus College deduced that the tuition increase affected enrollment rate (increased enrollment). She simply stated that people don t want cheap (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). Today, Susan Hansen, Admissions Director of East Liberal Arts College, wishes to increase tuition and reduce financial aid available to students (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). Moreover, she has expressed that increasing tuition and reducing the amount of financial aid will solve the schools financial problems (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). This will be done by increasing an effective tuition from $15,000 to $25,000 (Brickley et al., 2009). She also projects that the tuition increase enrollment from 400 to 600 students (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

CAMS are divided into five different categories: biological, manipulative body, mind body, energy, and alternative medicine. For example, dance therapy would fall under the manipulative body based interventions, while mind body interventions encompass alternatives like poetry, art, or music, and yoga would be an example of mind body interventions and manipulative body. Participants in music therapy have reported improved quality of life, and yoga therapy has been shown to lead individuals towards motivation to health improvement. As well, dance therapy has been proven to improve body image, coordination, body awareness, depression, anxiety, and stress relief; as well, sexual abuse survivors have used dance therapy to reconnect with their body by coping and processing, as well as give them a sense of freedom from their trauma (Complementary and Integrative, n.d.). ... However, there were still political issues that the British and the India didn t agree on about that caused many conflicts. The most significant impact by British on India s politics was showed by the adoption and the change of the government structure. Today s India government is similar with British government because they had adopted some of their structure from the British Government. During the British Raj, viceroy headed the government and he had the strongest power. Many British officials were under his govern and there was also a council with appointed members. This council acted like an imperial legislative council and was the cabinet of the Raj government (Parliament.UK). During this period, Indians had slowly learned about how a western government works. Analysis of an Advertisement Essay As I finished reading a rather intellectually stimulating article in a popular men s magazine, I flipped the page to reveal quite an interesting advertisement. My gaze fell upon the following print ad, which contained the photograph of a decrepit old man dressed in a black suit, wearing a diamond encrusted gold dollar sign ring, embraced by a wedding gown clad, large breasted, peroxide bleached blond, young bimbo. Next to the shocking newly weds was a new, cherry red Dodge Viper convertible, parked on a black patterned brick driveway, in front of a gorgeous mansion wall adorned with lavish vegetation and concrete Grecian pottery overflowing with ferns. It appeared that the reader was being subjected to an advertisement for divorce or for potential infidelity rather than that for a sports car. It is completely absurd to suppose for one second that these people devoted themselves to each other out of love. From the old man s point of view, this woman had become nothing more than another one of his exquisite possessions, hardly more important or significant than his precious Dodge Viper. The woman has become an object and the manufacturer would like for you to feel that ownership of this car will make anything you desire more attainable. By depicting their automobile in such a situation, the Dodge Company has made it seem as though owning their sports car is like diving into a fountain of youth. How else could this white haired, balding, old man have scored such a ripe attractive young woman? Aside from his apparent wealth, she must want him for his car. Aging has a direct correlation with decrease in both sexual attractiveness and libido. It would seem to be very appealing for an older man to be able to marry a young, sexy woman, and this advertisement claims that ownership of this automobile makes an old man more desirable. Financially endowed males are the target audience of this advertisement. It ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The passing of the 18th Amendment significantly changed organized crime for many years. It gave rise to bootlegging, gangsters, gang wars, and other various crimes. Bootlegging became the main source of income for gangsters, helping them fund their other crimes. Overall, the passing of the 18th Amendment caused organized crime to broaden and become a much larger industry. America had started to see much more crime and violence early in the 1900s due to the large increase in immigration. Once Torrio was shot by a rival gang, Capone became the leader of the gang. Capone quickly became the most feared crime boss in Chicago, organizing machine gun attacks and paying off politicians and police officers. One of Capone s most well known attacks was the St. Valentine s Day Massacre. On February 14, 1929, Al Capone had organized a hit on a rival gang. Two of his gang members dressed up as police officers and pretended to arrest seven members of the other gang. • 10. Daryl Bem Self Perception Theory In 1967, Daryl Bem, a social psychologist, created a theory that was drawn from the impression formation and attribution theories and developed the theory of self perception. Self perception is defined as follows, Self perception theory relies on situational and dispositional attributions similar to attribution theory (Frymier207). Bem created this theory to help understand one s understanding their own behavior through the same attributions that a person uses to understand someone else s behavior. Within self perception theory, the person observes themselves in the same manner in which they observe others and use that process to acknowledge our own behaviors or ideas of ourselves. Bem suggest that there are two postulates that are associated with self perception theory. The first is that individuals get to know themselves through the observation of their own behaviors or situations in which certain behaviors occur. Second is that external cues have little affect and the individual is in the same position as an outside observer. An example of this would be the foot in the door effect. Self perception theory from a psychological stand point is that a person s feelings and attitudes come from their external behaviors. Understaffing for a shorter span of time within the organization does not result in creation of long term issues. However, if this understaffing is extended for a longer period and becomes permanent, the organization is likely to experience catastrophic impacts, as it creates significant problems for both the individual and the organization (Chartrand, 2004). While on the other hand, the Online University has employed volunteers at their broadcasting station because of budgetary constraints. Response To Naturalism Aquinas s Response to Naturalism Introduction In this paper, I will do three things: (1) summarize an overview of what naturalism is by detailing its history and illustrating it with the views of characteristic thinkers, (2) explain what is known as Aquinas s Thomist Law and finally (3) discuss whether or not Thomist Law commits the naturalistic fallacy. 1 What Is Naturalism? Naturalism can be best summed up as a philosophical methodology as opposed to doctrine that abides by these three characteristics: 1. Philosophy should regard the methods of science quite seriously. 2. When a philosophical claim and a scientific claim of equal strength conflict with each other, the scientific claim wins out. 3. I described above, in detailing the types of reasoning that exist in Aquinas s thought, the underlying mechanisms behind Natural Law, which is just one strain of Thomist Law. Besides Natural Law, there is Eternal Law, Divine Law, and Natural Law. Eternal Law details the structure of the cosmos: it is concerned with the ineffable and intangible divine qualities that transcend human experience and pervade throughout the universe. Natural Law cooperates with Eternal Law, in that living by the Natural Law Aquinas s belief that man ought to and is inclined toward pursuing good and avoiding evil confers participation in Eternal Law and, hence, the divine.

Research Methodology aids research planning, if properly design it will enable a researcher to arrive at results or findings and tools that can either be used to disprove or approve such knowledge. Qualitative Research Methods Qualitative research method was chosen for this study. It involves an interpretative inquiry and a naturalistic approach to an area of study (Denzin, Lincoln, 2005; Qazi, 2011). Researchers therefore make an interpretation of what they observe, hear, and understand (Creswell 2003). When Pip first encounters the convict, the appearance of him scares Pip out of his mind. The man threatens Pip to bring him a few items otherwise he will go after his family. He also tells Pip to not tell a soul about him or he will be hurt as well. What Pip fails to realize is that the convict is cold, as he has been soaked in water (10), and hungry, which was made clear when he ate the bread ravenously (11). The sentence describes a very horrid image of how the African Americans looks as they were being hanged against their will. Personification is present in the poem Strange Fruit when Meeropol writes For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck (10). This is personification because it gives the rain the trait of gathering things, and it also gives the wind the trait of sucking. Within the poem, Meeropol also includes juxtaposition, for example when he says Scent of magnolias sweet and fresh/ Then the sudden smell of burnin flesh (7 8). This is an example of juxtaposition because it brings out the difference between the sweet smell of a flower, and the bad dark smell of burning flesh, and it makes the difference between those things more apparent. • 31. Concerto Grosso Music Baroque Concerto Grosso A Concerto Grosso is a genre of music where the musical material is passed between a small group of soloists (the concertino) and a full orchestra (the ripieno). The concertino generally has more virtuosic music than the ripieno, and they do not often share thematic material. It was developed in the late 17th Century, although the term Concerto Grosso would not be used until 1698 when Gregori published a set of 10 compositions. There are 2 forms of the Concerto Grosso the concerto da chíesa (a church concert) and the concerto da camera (a chamber concert). The concerto da chíesa alternated between fast and slow movements, and the concerto da camera was similar to a suite, in that it was introduced by a prelude, and incorporated popular dance ideas of the time. Concerto Grosso in D minor Concerto Grosso in D minor was composed by Antonio Vivaldi and was published in 1711. The concertino is made up of two violins and a cello, and the ripieno is made up of strings and a continuo. For the first 20 bars of the piece, the two solo violins play unaccompanied. The second movement (the Adagio e spiccato) is extremely short (only three bars long), and the instrumentation is tutti, as everyone is playing. In the third movement the solo cello does not play as the solo violins converse with each other. The Concerto is in D minor, and rarely changes key, however it does modulate briefly to the subdominant and the dominant keys (G minor and A minor). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Emirates Airlines 9 7 1 4 4 3 2 JANUARY 29, 2014 JUAN ALCÁCER JOHN CLAYTON Emirates Airline: Connecting the Unconnected Introduction Late afternoon was fading to dusk as Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, gazed out at the large crowds mingling outside at the 2013 Dubai Airshow. Front and center at the event was the official program launch of the Boeing 777X, a massive new hit thanks to Emirates record order of 150 new planes. Valued at $76 billion at list prices, this was the largest airplane deal ever inked. Letting his thoughts drift, he noted, he imagined with pride these planes joining the collection of widebodied Emirates planes assembled on the tarmac of Dubai International Airport, ready to ferry passengers from Europe, Asia, ... Aviation in the Middle East The 1980s aviation market in the Middle East was dominated by Gulf Air, a regional carrier backed by the states of Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, and the emirate of Abu Dhabi. While several European carriers serviced the region, the overall market was small and Gulf Air maintained a high market share. The majority of its flights emanated from its four hub cities to points in the Middle East, South Asia, and Europe, primarily on a point to point network. As a non core city for Gulf Air, Dubai experienced reductions in air service in 1985 that compelled Dubai s leaders to launch its own airline. Local airline expertise was minimal, so the royal family commissioned a small team of expatriate airline veterans, helmed by Sir Maurice Flanagan, to charter the service they named Emirates. Divisional Senior Vice President (SVP) of Corporate Communications, Marketing Brand Boutros Boutros remarked, Locals or expats, management all had the same outlook and shared mentality, which ultimately helped build a successful and cohesive executive team. 6 Armed with only two planes and $10 million in seed capital provided by the Government of Dubai, the airline initially developed a regional focus to connect underserved markets. • 33. The Importance Of Community Ligagement And Outreach... Community engagement and outreach librarians are a relatively new and growing speciality in public librarianship. The idea of outreach is not a new concept for libraries. The Offices for Literacy and Outreach Services was established in the 1970s, formerly the Office for Literacy Services to the Disadvantaged (McCook, 2011). While community engagement and outreach can have different connotations, for the purposes of this paper, they are going to be used interchangeably, as the duties and responsibilities for each type of librarian does not vary much in job postings. The ALA describes outreach librarians as providers of equitable delivery of library services to all people through the development of programs, policies, practices, and behaviors which make the library available to all people (ALA, n.d. c). Many libraries are just hiring their first community engagement and outreach librarians, such as The Verona Public Library (Newton, 2017). Community engagement and outreach librarians seek ways in which to develop deep connections with the community organizations and residents while being the face of the library. This staffing trend moves libraries away from their desks and out into the community to reach community members where they are (Stevenson Domsy, 2016). Scope and Tasks A big question in outreach is should the goal be focused on bringing people into the library or bringing library services out into the community (M. • 35. Essay about Two Suits, Two Dresses, or One of Each How can denying two people of the same sex the right to have a marriage be considered constitutional? Why is our country taking away rights of people because they want to be with someone of the same gender? Gay and lesbian couples have been denied their right to marry for some time now. Same sex couples should be allowed to express and celebrate their commitment to a partner the same way a heterosexual couple does, as well as obtain the same benefits. Our country is not a Theocracy, we have separation of church and state, therefore the government cannot press biblical or church will on citizens. The church has defined marriage as between a man and a woman and this is fine as long as the government keeps a non religious standpoint. Many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means the government cannot enact laws that prevent marriage between individuals of a certain sexual orientation. If marriage is considered a civil liberty, then the 14th amendment should stop the government from making laws that prohibit civil liberties based on a person s choice in a partner. . . . Section 3 of DOMA violates the equal protection clause because it treats gay man and lesbians differently on the basis of their sexual orientation (Hanna 30). If we continue to strike down laws like DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act), which denied same sex couples the right to marry, we can fight this controversy and help innocent people obtain a right that they were born with. Some people may argue that marriage has always been defined as between one man and one woman or that allowing gay marriage will weaken the institution of marriage. Extending to gays and lesbians the right to marry would undermine traditional marriage, and therefore, governments have a valid reason to maintain the traditional definition of it (Hanna 29). It is inaccurate to define marriage as between one man and one woman because our world history is full of polygamy, concubines, mistresses, and prostitution. Kings in the past had many women and this was considered normal, one could say that the traditional marriage is the one that is not normal. We redefine things as the general attitudes about them ...
