The Long Term Economic Growth
As a product of colonization, the limited industrial development in the colonized area is a global issue.
Because the widening gap between the rich and the poor between developing and developed countries,
is the root reason of most of the contradictions and conflicts between countries in the contemporary
world. And different level of industrialization caused the widening gap. So we can say the limited
industrial development caused by colonialism is a real issue behind many current contradictions and
conflicts. In order to reduce these conflicts and narrow the gap, the colonized countries should make a
breakthrough on its limited industrialization by focusing on its own features resources and structures,
and taking effective measures impoting foreign capital and technology and establishing independent or
joint scientific research and ventures, to gain a long term economic growth. For the relation between
the colonization and the limited industrialization in colony, there are usually two views. One view is
that people blame the colonizer were not willing to promote the development of industry in the colony.
The other view is that people emphasize it was hard for the colonized to start the process of
industrialization in the colony. In my opinion, both of the views are reasonable, but neither of them is
comprehensive. In order to demonstrate my opinion on the relation, I choose British India and the
Belgian Congo as two objects to analysis in the following paragraphs

Officers Tutko and Watkins immediately noticed a strong smell of marijuana upon entry into Michael
Thompson s bedroom. Furthermore, Officers Tutko and Watkins noticed a scale placed on the dresses
located next to Michael Thompson and Kori Williams in plain view. Once again, the Probation
Department asked Michael Thompson if there was anything in the reported address that would be a
violation of his supervision. Michael Thompson stated that he had a small amount of weed in his
bedroom. Given the fact the offender was in possession of a scale, admitted to possession of marijuana
and the strong smell of marijuana within Michael Thompson s bedroom, Supervisor McDowell gave
the Probation Department permission to search the offender s reported address of 308 B Miami Street
Pittsburgh, PA 15035. PO Tutko located a large cardboard box filled with an undetermined amount of
bundles of heroin within plain on the floor inside of Michael Thompson s bedroom closet. Not to
mention the fact that the large amount of drugs was easily accessible to the offender s 18 month old
son, who also shared the same bedroom. The Probation Department noticed a toy fire truck placed

Analyzing The Psychological And Emotional Experiences Held...
Drawing on the information and researched gathered using ethnographic data, in groups we have
progressed from choosing between a hardware and scenario, refining the chosen scenario and creating
concepts to find a solution to the problems that have come up from the research on our scenario
context, documenting the journey to our refined context and concepts. Further development and
refinement of a concept is necessary in order to test and evolve it. This report discusses the
psychological and emotional experiences held by commuters on trains. Various methods of
observation and readings have been employed into refining the context of our research and exploring
different avenues in order to quantify our knowledge of Ethnographic Data to get to the concepts.
Ethnography is the study of cultural and social phenomena. It s is described by Brian Hoey as
something equated with virtually any qualitative research project (e.g., see Research Gateway) where
the intent is to provide a detailed, in depth description of everyday life and practice. The multiple
ways of gathering data are; observing a group in their natural environment and habitual tendencies,
video, questionnaires, interviews, photographs and many more. Categorising and presenting the data
could be in the form of quantitative or qualitative data; quantitative being things that can be measured
in numerical values and descriptions while qualitative goes into details, mostly observed and not
measured dealing with

Nutrition Admission Essay Sample
I am interested in the nutrition program at MUIH for a variety of reasons. I have a passion for learning
how nutrients and food can significantly impact the body and a desire to share and help individuals
reach their health and wellness goals. Additionally, this program will provide me with the opportunity
to step foot into a career focused on preventative health. One of my passions in life has consistently
been about food, nutrition and wellness. As a small child, I was inspired by my mother and her
journey back to school to become a nutritionist. Consistently throughout my childhood, I was guided
towards healthy food with nutritional quality and learned about holistic health and how these things
can directly impact one s quality of life. Once I entered college, my love and passion for cooking and
food became apparent and I began to learn how to cook nutritiously and for substance. My knowledge
base grew as I began to seek out online sources of information from nutritionists and dietitians alike. I
have learned that there is not one thing that is a cure all when it comes to an individual s health, but
that prevention is key and nutrition can go a long way in helping a body recover.
For the past 10 years, I have been working as an American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter. Some of

Parental Leave At The United States Essay
III. Parental Leave in the United States
The lack of a paid parental leave law in the country does not necessarily mean that it is absent in the
U.S. labor market. Some generous and more progressive companies do recognize the importance of
the leave to employees and do offer it. According to the Employee Benefits Survey of 2015, 21% of
employers nationally offer some paid maternity leave while 17% offer some paid paternity/adoption
leave. However, about a fifth don t have any kind of protected maternity, paternity, or adoptive leave.
(Ray, 8; Time, n. pag.)
An article online from Time Inc. Network lists some U.S. companies that do offer paid parental leave.
Most of these companies use the leave to attract talented employees and most are in the information
and/or technology industry. The list include:
Adobe 26 weeks of paid maternity leave and 16 weeks of paid leave for primary caregivers
Amazon 20 weeks of paid maternity leave, 2 of which can be taken before the birth of the child, and 6
weeks of paid paternal and adoptive parents leave
Apple 18 weeks of paid maternity leave, 4 of which can be taken before the birth of the child, and 6
weeks of paid paternal and adoptive parents leave
Facebook 16 weeks of parental leave (includes maternity, paternity, and adoption), and has a
breastfeeding room in the office complex

Charlie Chaplin s Contributions to the Film Industry
Charlie Chaplin Every day millions of Americans go to theaters with their families to enjoy movies.
Watching films has become one of the most popular activities to do. Although plenty of people know
of Charlie Chaplin, most do not know any real information about him. Charlie Chaplin has been a
major contributor to America s advancement in the film industry from his innovative beginnings, and
perseverance to improve and succeed, to his overall achievements in history. Charlie Chaplin was born
in South London on April 16, 1889. He was the first child of Hannah and Charles Chaplin. Charles
was vaudeville actor. Hannah was a vaudeville singer. Charlie s father was a drunk and he later left his
family when he was three years old when he found out his wife had an affair with another actor, Leo
Dryden. They soon had a child named George, who left to live with his father. Since Hannah was now
a single mother, she was struggling to find a way to provide for her children. She had another son that
was older than Charlie, from a previous relationship (Schwartz). Hannah s singing alone was not
enough to earn her the money to care for two boys. She took up sweatshop work on a sewing machine
she rented to earn extra income. Due to the small amount of income they had, Charlie s family moved
in and out of orphanages and boys homes on a regular basis. Hannah s career as a singer ended
abruptly in 1894. She lost her voice during a performance. While the crowd was getting rowdy and

The Crime Of Hate Crimes
Hate crimes are very common in today s society, they can range from various ethnicities and
orientations as well as the severity of the crime committed. A hate crime is defined as the violence of
intolerance and bigotry, intended to hurt and intimidate someone because of their race, ethnicity,
national origin, religious, sexual orientation, or disability. The purveyors of hate use explosives, arson,
weapons, vandalism, physical violence, and verbal threats of violence to instill fear in their victims,
leaving them vulnerable to more attack and feeling alienated, helpless, suspicious and fearful . These
attacks are fueled by a hatred for the victim s personal lifestyle. As mentioned above, hate crimes are
not specific to one group of people, the crimes can be found in every aspect of society, some are just
more obvious than others. In a 2014 study it was found that 51 percent of hate crimes were motivated
by the victims ethnicity. Race was the second highest rate of motivation. According to this study, it has
been determined that majority of hate crimes can be classified as simple assaults . In relation to these
statistics it is estimated that only 4% of the assaults resulted in an arrest. It is also believed that more
than 60% of hate crimes are not reported. These are not reported because the victims think that
nothing will come out of reporting their attacks. Also, the actual victims reported only 22% of hate
crimes, while someone else reported 12%. These types crimes

Nancy Lammeter but fails to have children with her. He goes to claim Eppie but Eppie decides to stay

baddies when Dunstan Cass is found at the bottom of a lake with Silas money.
Some of the Victorian values that would have influenced George Eliot are the traditional family values
and the role of women in families and society. Women were expected to stay at home and look after
the family. They were not expected to work or do anything to displease their husbands. At the time,
George Eliot was writing her book, the industrial revolution was also taking place and economic and
class values were changing. England was going through a series of tumultuous cultural, social and
economic transformations.
This could be reflected in the seemingly robotic work Silas does. He weaves continually only to save
every penny into a box under his floorboards for him to count and worship.
Silas first sees Eppie asleep by his fire and he sees not a

1. Current Ratio helps us measure the ability of a company to pay off its short term debts using its
most liquid assets. 1.5 is the benchmark. If it s less than 1 that means the company is not able to meet
its current liabilities using its liquid assets.

(252,900)
Current Ratio 0.90 1.05 1.03 0.86
Interpretation and Explanation
In case of BBC, we can observe a positive trend. There has been a significant increase in the ratio.
However in 2007, the company s current liabilities were higher than the current assets. But over the
next two consecutive years 2008 and 2009, the company s assets were enough to pay off the short
term debts, and this is a positive sign. Talking about the current year 2010, the current ratio is below
the benchmark, but the cash reserves are more. we can see a constant change in the values of current
assets in a positive trend for last three years, however, not for the year 2010. Again there has been
increase in current liabilities substantially. This can be one of the reasons for a funding cut of £340m
this year by BBC as George Osborne confirms the news on Oct 20th 2010.

I Walk Into A Local Coffee Shop
I walk into a local coffee shop, eager to begin researching the topic for my thesis paper. Immediately, I
am bombarded by a series of sense experiences: the glowing orange yellow of the overhead lights, the
smell of roasting coffee and steamed milk, the warmth flowing from my cup, and the chatter of the
patrons around me as they talk amongst themselves or engage in their own work. As you read that
sentence, you likely begin to create your own mental image of my coffee shop with a varying degree
of accuracy depending upon the skill of your imagination. Suppose that you have the best coffee shop
imagination skills in the entirety of human history, and can take my description, however lacking, and
create a perfect representation of my coffee shop. I take a look at your picture and am amazed by how
closely you have captured every detail. It is as though you were there with me, and I begin to
reminisce on my experience. But, is it possible for you to reminisce alongside me? Can you smell the
coffee and feel the impact of your shoes on the concrete floor as I did? Obviously not, you would
probably say, as you were not there with me. However, suppose that I brought you with me. Are you
smelling the coffee, seeing the lights, and feeling the floor in the same way that I do? I would say no,
as would many philosophers. This is because you and I are fundamentally different persons with
fundamentally different qualia. In this paper, I will examine three highly influential arguments for

The Five Forms Of Government In Ancient Greece
The Greece has tried various types of government, they know how to reform the systems and how to
corrupt, grow, decline. The rule forms in the ancient Greek took extraordinarily diverse forms. This
article will briefly describe the fifth forms of government in ancient Greece. That are monarchy,
aristocracy, tyranny, oligarchy, and democracy.
The first forms of the rule in the ancient Greek is a monarchy. it means the ruling power is in the
hands of a single person, in other words, one person inherits power. This person must be male and
there is not queen.
At the first, the kings were chosen by the people. After death the king, another leader was selected to
take his place. Eventually, the Kings become inherited the power and rule of his children, usually the
eldest son takes the thorn. The king relied on heavily armed soldiers to enforce his rule and to ensure
that the people paid taxes and obeyed his laws. When the king does not have a male, the military
advisers of the king battled among them to become the new monarch. (Duignan, n.d.)
This form of government disappeared in Greece since the fighting between kingdoms in Asia Minor.
This fighting limited the arrival of raw materials to these kingdoms. As a result, they lose their ability

A basic theatre performance structure is as follows:
1. Prologue
Spoken by one or two characters before the chorus appears. The prologue usually gives the
mythological background necessary for understanding the events of the play.
2. Parodos
This is the song sung by the chorus as it first enters the orchestra and dances.
3. First Episode
This is the first of many episodes , when the characters and chorus talk.
4. First Stasimon
At the end of each episode, the other characters usually leave the stage and the chorus dances and

and puts it into some kind of larger mythological framework.
5. Exodos
The playwright determines how many Episodes and Stasimons there are in the play.
There were approximately 12 50 members in a chorus and usually only a maximum of 3 actors on
stage. The actors would alternate roles and would wear masks to identify their character. Women were
prohibited from acting; therefore men performed both roles of both genders.
The most common roles played were:

Hinduism And The Islamic Religion
Thousands of years has passed since man was created, and ever since then people have always
worshipped a higher figure, being or object. For primitive humans the first thing they worshipped was
a stone, then plants and trees. As time passed and civilization evolved, it altered and man started to
worship animals, especially those that had a dominant physical trait. People s adoration then changed
to the elements, then to man in the form of priests, kings or prophets and finally it has, settled on
Heavenly Beings which are worshipped by different religions. Two of the more prominent religions in
society are Hinduism and the Islamic religion. The Origins of Worship | Urantia Book | Urantia

This is evident in their god Surya who is their sun god, Garuda the messenger god and Hanuman, the
god of courage and power. Yet, there has to be more prominent deities in their religion, and there is.
There are three gods which are a part of the Hinduism triumvirate, which are the gods that have the
responsibility of the creation, preservation and destruction of the world, they include Brahma, Vishnu
and Shiva. Brahma, is the creator God and is considered to have been the founder of the world. Even
though he played such a vital role in the creation of Earth, he is the least worshiped god in Hinduism.
This is mainly because his role in creation is, apparently, over. The god Vishnu is proclaimed to be the
powerful preserver and protector. This god is one of the more worshiped gods due to defending the
world that we live on. The god responsible for destruction is Shiva. Even though it sounds like this
god has a passion for slaughter, the destruction that Shiva causes is believed to extinguish the flaws in
our world. (Swami krishnananda.org. 2015) and (bbc.co.uk. 2015)
Even though followers of Hinduism have many gods in their religion they usually have a personal
God which they support the most and worship more than the others. Whilst a large percentage of
Hindu s believe in hundreds of gods, some like to argue that there is only one or three gods to
worship. (Shaivam.org. 2015)
By worshipping different gods the followers of Hinduism

The Causes of Poor Productivity Within Large Organizations
The Causes of Poor Productivity Within Large Organizations
Productivity is the degree of output achieved in relation to a certain level of input. For example, in a
call centre environment, productivity would be seen as the number of telephone calls answered per
hour by a certain number of staff. The telephone calls are the output and the staff available to take the
calls are the input.
In order to improve productivity, one of the following has to occur: The level of input is decreased
however the level of output remains the same, or, the level of output increases but the level of input

I found the findings from Case Study A to be very surprising having worked in a call centre myself
and not having had very many positive experiences during my time there. The overall impression from
those interviewed was that they felt very positive about their workplace. There were inevitable
differences in how different levels of employees viewed certain issued but there were more similarities
than differences. I was interested to see how employees had spoke about productivity and performance
targets. It became apparent that performance targets were related to the number of calls answered, the
time in which it took to answer the calls and also the levels of call leakage. It is very easy to monitor
call centre agents against an array of time related measures and staff felt under a lot of pressure at
times due to this. I can relate to this, as this is exactly how I felt working as a call centre agent. One
manager interviewed in Case Study A stated that the most important thing in managing call centre

that highly motivated staff will be more productive but I also think that if staff working in call centres

Essay On Parker Space Challenger
The parker space probe is set to be launched in the window of 31 July and 19 August. Using Venus
gravity, the probe will orbit around the Sun with decreasing time period. After seven flybys around
Venus, this probe will achieve a speed of about 200 km/s and a distance of 8.5 solar radius from the
surface.[1] The main objective of the mission is to expand our understanding of solar corona and solar
winds which directly influences the space weather surrounding the Earth. This space weather affects
the life and society on Earth and so it is important to understand these solar winds.

This upper atmosphere and the magnetic field form a coupled system with the Sun and the geospace.
This coupled system and their interaction with each other is studied under the Sun Earth Connection
program.[4]
The Sun is a hot ball of gas made of hydrogen. Most of its gas is in the fourth state of matter known as
plasma, where the gas heats up to the point where atoms break up into plasma. The Sun s plasma is so
hot that it escapes the Sun s gravitational field. This escape of plasma from the Sun is also known as
Coronal Mass Ejection or CME. The escaped plasma forms the solar wind which blows out of the Sun
and travels across the solar system with a speed of 500 Km/s, interacting with the planets magnetic
field and atmosphere. These interactions result in the change of the planets, or in our case, the Earth s
magnetic field from the dipole magnetic field to a plasma swept magnetosphere. The interactions also
produce current to flow through the Earth s upper atmosphere and the magnetosphere causing neon
light like effect resulting in the formation of aurora.[5]The Sun s atmosphere also results in other
effects such as prominences and solar flare. The solar flares eject high energy particles and gases
which are about 13 million oC. These solar flares also cause strong space weather changes by
producing a stream of highly energetic particles which impacts Earths magnetosphere.[6] Thus, these
solar winds and solar flares are an

The Watsons Go To Birmingham-1963 Book Report
The topic of Civil Rights is an interesting topic for so many people. This event changed history
forever and allowed some people who couldn t even get good jobs to become president of the United
States or even have the same rights as others. In the book The Watsons Go To Birmingham 1963, the
author, Christopher Paul Curtis, wrote a story about a family that is living in this time. The author
mostly focused on telling us a story of the Watson family and not really any historical events. I really
would ve liked it if the book gave more information on civil rights and not just have one historical
event happen at the end of the book. Adding some more facts and history would have made the book
more interesting. All in all, the book The Watsons Go ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only time the book really talks about history or civil rights is at the end with the bombing in
Birmingham Alabama. But for such little information the book actually got it correct. The book doesn
t give a date for when this happens but it gives context clues that tell me that it is in the morning.
According to history.com, the bombing was on September 15, 1963 in Birmingham Alabama right
before Sunday morning church service started. The author gave accurate details when he wrote about
that. In addition to that, the book also talked about people being dead. It talked about 4 little girls
being killed in the bombing. This is historically accurate because on history.com and cnn.com they
both state that 4 young black girls were killed that day. The whole story revolves around the Watson
family from Flint Michigan. The history is correct so you don t really know if the family is real from
the book but from research, the family is a fictional family. In conclusion, the book The Watsons Go
To Birmingham 1963 is a historically correct book except for the fact that the Watson family isn t real.
After all, the book The Watsons Go To Birmingham 1963 was only historically accurate in the end
because the author focused on the fictional part of this historical fiction story. While the author did
talk about the bombing on the 16th Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama in 1963, he didn t really
tell anything other

Evaluation Of A Project At Work
A project at work we have completed more recently is the Inventory by location project. It is a new
system implemented to make it easier to locate product in the store and keep track of inventory. The
project took two weeks to complete. The first week was prep work and the second week was
implementation. The first week was broken down into three sequences while second week was broken
down into days. Before the system was put in, inventory only had a few locations in the computer.
There was general, staging, and receiving. The general inventory was anything in the store that was in
general inventory. To locate it, a person just had to know what general area it was in or where it was in
the store. When new employees were hired if they were left alone it took hours to put up stock. They
would have to ask previous employees were product was or should go. It was very ineffective. Cycle
counting inventory was also a nightmare. An employee could not count inventory of one location or
grouping of product. Cycle counts were sporatic and there was no way to know where the product was
in the store. There was not a way to cycle count all inventory in the store without doing it by each
individual part number, which would have taken a month. Now, a cycle count can be done for each
location accounting for all inventory in the store in just a matter of a day. With the new system every
shelf and subunit of shelving has a location in the computer that shows a person where to locate a

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Summary
Summary of the needs assessment
Our group based the learning needs resource assessment around the idea of previous knowledge the
Women s Resource Center s clients have, regarding Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and Shaken Baby
Syndrome. On our LNRAs we asked four basic questions pertaining to these two syndromes, some of
the questions included: What do you know about sudden infant death syndrome, what steps could be
taken to prevent SIDS, and what do you know about Shaken Baby Syndrome? After receiving the
LNRAs, it is apparent that clients involved with this center are unfamiliar with these two syndromes
and their causes. This is evident by the clients stating, I don t know or only knowing that the infant
could die as a result of the event. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of these classes pertain to issues that parents face with regards to their well being. As previously
cited a lack of conflict resolution within a partnership, can hinder a mother s development of
individual well being which ultimately affects the child. By illustrating within our presentation that the
relationship between the maternal and paternal figures in the infant s life, we develop the infant s
individual well being by addressing the well being of the parents.
Community Vitality
Through our presentation at the Women s Resource Center the information provided will have an
immediate on the community involved. Seeing that a community is defined as, a group of persons
living in a specific place or geographic region or a group of people having common interests (Etzioni,
2001), the resource center is involved with the expecting or new mother community. Within our
presentation our group plans to provide attendees with information regarding causes and ways to
prevent SIDS and Shaken Baby Syndrome.
Since the attendees are members of the new parent community, the ultimate goal is for them to inform
other members of the same community about the information they have received. This relay of
information can maintain or enhance the community s vitality, which vitality is defined as, the
capacity to live, grow, or develop

Lymphatic Filariasis Research Paper
Lymphatic Filariasis Introduction Over 120 million people worldwide are affected by lymphatic
filariasis. This disease is caused by nematode worms, most of the cases being from a species known as
Wuchereria bancrofti, or just W. bancrofti. Those who experience the conditions of the disease the
worst are older individuals whom have lived in an endemic area for an extended period of time. This
is because of the long gestational period for the parasitic presence to become prevalent by repeated
mosquito bites and by the larva reproducing. (USAID, 2014) The disease is commonly referred to as
elephantiasis due to the symptom of lymphedema. (W.H.O., 2015) Lymphdema causes the limbs to
swell and become immobile, which stems from the lymph vessels becoming blocked by larva nests.
(M.C.S., 2014) Another common visible symptom is genital swelling in men, known as a ... Show

first actual documented observation of larva in the blood stream was by Jean Nicolas Demarquay, a
French surgeon who extracted it from a hydrocele. A short time later, Otto Henry Wucherer discovered
the presence of microfilariae in urine. The connection between the two discoveries and between
microfilariae presence and elephantiasis was later discovered by Timothy Lewis. In 1876, Joseph
Bancroft documented the adult parasitic worm. Perhaps most importantly; in the following year,
Patrick Manson discovered microfilariae in mosquitos. This was the first time mosquitos were found
to carry diseases, and would not only affect studies in regard to lymphatic filariasis, but other
mosquito borne illnesses such as malaria. (Stanford University.edu,

The Four Stages In Ovid s Metamorphoses
Pythagoras was a Greek philosopher born in 570 B.C.E. In Ovid s the Metamorphoses, Pythagoras
discusses a variety of beliefs including the four ages of man, autogenesis, and vegetarianism.
The four stages of man as described by Pythagoras states, that the year displays four aspects, passing
through them, in a semblance of our life. Each season represents a different aspect of man. Spring is a
delicate time of year full of new beginnings and hope. Summer is described as powerful, rich, and
expansive. Fall is the time between youth and age. Pythagoras describes winter as hair turning white.

as life moves on. In the Ovid, Milon an athlete who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pythagoras had fled Samos because the leaders were tyrants. By ws exiled, but he continued to visit
the gods in thought. He would preach his views to the people. Pythagoras believed that it was a
disgrace to eat meat. His excuse for not eating meat was that the earth provides crops and we should
use these to our advantage and not shed the blood of animals. Pythagoras believes(VOTH) that flesh is
the diet of a beast and that only a beast is not full until it eats the flesh of another. He says that
creatures that want to kill us should be killed, but not eaten. Pythagoras calls eating animals for food
wicked and says those who eat meat not worthy of crops. While although I do feel pity for animals
and cruelty done to them by humans, I am not a vegetarian. It is necessary to eat meat to consume
certain proteins needed by our bodies. The circle of life allows for the predators to eat their prey.
Humans do defy this stereotype due to technology, since there is no animal predator to us. However I
do believe that animals can t be hunted to extinction. There should be boundaries when we use
animals as our food source. As for the agriculture, we do eat crops and meat. This maintains an

How Does Bradbury Use Technology In Fahrenheit 451
We use technology everyday. Smartphones, tablets, TV and computers are devices that we use to
communicate with others and can be used for education. Technology has even saved lives, in hospitals
or tracking a dangerous person; but in Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, technology was made to look
evil and what causes people to be unhappy, but Bradbury s actual warning was not to abuse
technology. The government in Bradbury s society had used technology as a way to control the
citizens. Isolation, and the lack of humanity is a result of the control of technology. Bradbury had
created the brainwashed society to show us, the reader, how important it is to not abuse technology,
because then we can be more human and be much more happier. Ray Bradbury s message in

After telling her to think, Mrs. Phelps just said she was going home to watch the parlor. Even when
someone is given the opportunity to think, they pass it up to watch TV, because of how they were
taught to only watch TV when they feel anything. The government has created this control so that they
can hold on to power without threats or questions from their citizens. Without the threat of an uprising
in their society, Fahrenheit 451 s government is able to hold on to their power. The control is so great,
that no one cares for their actual family. She [Mildred] shoved the valise in the waiting beetle, climbed
in, and sat mumbling, Poor family, poor family, oh everything is gone... , (Bradbury 108). When
Montag and Mildred were in danger, Mildred only cared for her TV family. [Montag speaking to

that I let ride. One way or the other, you d have got it, (Bradbury 111). In this society, the TV show

Analyses of a Career as a Dentist
Dentists are often thought of as people to be feared. Most people try to put off going to the dentist
until their teeth hurt so much that they have no choice but to visit the feared dental office. Waiting for
pain in the mouth or gums before visiting a dentist is one of the worst things a person can do. Paul J.
Flaer, et al. observes, Fear in approaching the dental visit may be generated by psychosocial factors
such as history of bad experience(s) at the dentist and by the effect of poor representations of dental
treatment in the media (104). If more people could get over their dentophobia they might have better

dental offices. The metal amalgam that looks silver in the mouth and the composite that appears white

Usually shots to numb the mouth are used before the drilling begins. Some dentist use laughing gas to
dull the pain of the needed work. Dentist need steady hands and good depth persecution when drilling
a patient s teeth. Dentists also need to be able to take care of more serious problems such as root
canals, crowns, wisdom teeth, and making dentures. These procedures are more challenging and
require preparation during the Dental School and clinical training years. Some dentists specialize as
dental surgeons. A dental surgeon s duties include tooth extraction, root canals, and crowns.
Orthodontists are the branch of dentists that most often make dentures and putting braces on teeth to
straighten the bite. Dentists must also do a lot of paper work. This can be a boring task but is very
important. Keeping good records for the patients, filling out insurance claims, and the necessary
governmental regulations is of the utmost importance. No task the dentist has to perform should be
taken lightly. Work environment Dentists usually work with others in a dental office. The dentist office
environment should be a welcoming one to help alleviate the fear

Motif In The Lottery
Every single body of work contains a motif, which the author shows through the plot of the story.
Before showing the common motif of my stories let there be an understanding of the word. Motif is a
recurring element which helps develop the theme of a story. The short stories, The Lottery by Shirley
Jackson, The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe, and Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin all
include the same motif, which is facing reality.
In The Lottery by Shirley Jackson, the motif facing reality helped develop the theme that not all
traditions are good traditions. In this story the community has a lottery every year and one person
from the town is chosen to be the winner. This motif is shown at the end of the story when Mrs.
Hutchinson is picked to be the winner of the lottery. She says, It isn t fair... A stone hit her on the side
of the head (Jackson). Mrs. Hutchinson is stoned to death showing that not all traditions are good
traditions. Facing reality is also shown when she is getting stoned. For example, Mrs. Hutchinson also
says, It isn t fair, it isn t right (Jackson). This shows that the lottery was not a good thing at all. This
also shows that this was a normal thing in the town because no one interrupted to say that this shouldn
t happen. Jackson treated this like a normal perfect day, making the reader believe that the lottery was
a good thing. This story perfectly demonstrates the motif facing reality because Mrs. Hutchinson had
to face the

Benefits Of Using The Internet
Introduction:
In modern society we heavily rely on computers for a number of different reasons whether that be
paying bills, shopping online or simply staying in touch with family and friends. If you take a look
around at daily life it is clear to see just how important computers and technology are to us, they make
life easier. One would never have that one day you could do your shopping without having to leave the
comfort of your own home, this is just one of the basic uses of the modern computer.
The fastest growing element of the computer world is the internet, due to this development the internet
has now become the main communication method within the current generation whether that is
between people or companies. The internet has a lot of benefits, people and companies can
communicate and connect with others in various locations, therefore companies can take advantage of
using the internet network to support their business, however there are some disadvantages to this
method, using the internet heavily to communicate can leave companies and people vulnerable to
cyber crime such as network attacks, this results in companies taking extreme actions to have the best
network security possible and maximise efforts to protect their network.
A majority of people think that security attacks happen externally, someone outside the company but
in fact internal attacks happen more frequent and are more harmful, Cryptek (2001) based the

Inner Circle Matters
How are you training the people around you to be water carriers? My first thought is that your inner

in making sure the right people are influencing my most inner thoughts and beliefs. For example, the
criterion that governs my inner circle is simple, they have to be smarter, faster, and more like Jesus
than I am. As I have begun to place people like this in my inner circle (some call this their board of

in a post in an earlier week that people already have the answers, all I have to do is ask the right

that space is needed to discover their potential. In mentoring we tell people how to either pour water
on an inflamed event or gasoline. I am not much of the teller, I do not think people (me specifically)
respond much to being told what to do, if we were in a traditional classroom and the Professor asked
us would you rather be told what to do, or would you rather discover what you should do, each person

equality of citizens in France, but in 1802 he created the Legion of Honor, a new status in society
which granted members special privileges. The legion was a superior group, similar to nobility, but
Napoleon of course never called it that because he wanted to convince the general public that the idea
of equality was still relevant. The Declaration of the Rights of Man stated that Men are born and

Critique Of Twelfth Night
Emma Rice revamps Shakespeare s comedy Twelfth Night into a dazzling musical production, full of
modern twists and references that encompass the original core of the play. In this eccentric production,
comedy and music take center stage, supported by technical factors such as set, lighting, and sound,
but brought to life by brilliant costuming, wondrous music, and the superb acting and singing abilities
of the cast. Rice takes several liberties with the original structure and text of the play, manipulating
roles and dialogue to fit the comedic understandings of a modern audience. While this removes some
of playwright s genius wit and style, it seemed necessary in order to relay the overall humor and mood
of the play that would otherwise be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other lighting aspects were crucial in providing context for a scene, such as the descent of the
chandelier denoting Olivia s home and the use of disco balls to indicate the production s 70s era
setting.
The essence of this production, alongside the comedy, is its musicality, and Rice arranged the play into
essentially a musical, backed by composer Ian Ross lovely soundtrack. The mishmash of classic 70s
songs, Scottish jigs, and original tracks based on Shakespeare s songs and words, performed by a kilt
wearing band in the galley, left little doubt in the audience s mind as to when and where the
production was placed. The music accentuated the mood and emotion of every scene, from the
hauntingly beautiful, but painful refrains during the shipwreck, to the exciting disco music of the
parties, and the intense rock when Sir Toby and Maria beat their frustrations onto Sir Andrew and
Malvolio. At one point, a marimba ish sound played as Orsino described the feminine features of
Cesario , and it s repeated when Viola, as Cesario, regales in full emotion to Olivia how she would go
about wooing the Lady. In both these instances, a character falls in love with another, Viola with
Orsino and Olivia with Cesario. The parallel in music underscored the similarity of these scenes.
While the production commanded a mastery in background music, it was the musical numbers and
singing that drove the production forward, both in emotion and

Genetic Engineering Research Paper
I. Introduction In the past three decades, scientists have learned how to mix and match characteristics
among unrelated creatures by moving genes from one creature to another. This is called genetic
engineering. Genetic Engineering is prematurely applied to food production. There are estimates that
food output must increase by 60 percent over the next 25 years to keep up with demand. Thus, the
result of scientist genetically altering plants for more consumption. The two most common methods
for gene transfer are biological and electromechanical. Early experiments all involved changing DNA
using bacterial vectors (Randerson, 2001). Through other advances scientists proclaim how they can
improve the human gene pool. All humans have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parents today enroll their children in the best possible schools and will do anything to make sure their
children look up to standards. Possibly in a few decades parents would be able to choose from a
plethora of traits: hair color, eye color, bigger muscles and so on that their children could obtain.
Maybe they d like to add a few inches to a child s height. Or improve their kid s chances at longevity
by tweaking inherited DNA. Planning the child s genetic future could really give him/her a head start
in life.
II. Background There isn t any background information of human genetic engineering because it is
perceived as unmoral, but there are many comparable instances of altering genes. Genetic engineering
is the largest food experiment in the history of the world. More than 100 million acres of the world s
most fertile farmland were planted with genetically modified crops last year, about 25 times as much
as just four years earlier (King,1999). There is a series on genetic engineering of food crops, genetic
engineers are now moving genes around among plants and animals. The attempt to improve the
human race genetically relates to someone creating a specialized breed of horses or dogs. In the early
decades of the 20th century, eugenics projects in the U.S. led to forced sterilization of some people
who were considered to have undesirable

  • 2. The Long Term Economic Growth As a product of colonization, the limited industrial development in the colonized area is a global issue. Because the widening gap between the rich and the poor between developing and developed countries, is the root reason of most of the contradictions and conflicts between countries in the contemporary world. And different level of industrialization caused the widening gap. So we can say the limited industrial development caused by colonialism is a real issue behind many current contradictions and conflicts. In order to reduce these conflicts and narrow the gap, the colonized countries should make a breakthrough on its limited industrialization by focusing on its own features resources and structures, and taking effective measures impoting foreign capital and technology and establishing independent or joint scientific research and ventures, to gain a long term economic growth. For the relation between the colonization and the limited industrialization in colony, there are usually two views. One view is that people blame the colonizer were not willing to promote the development of industry in the colony. The other view is that people emphasize it was hard for the colonized to start the process of industrialization in the colony. In my opinion, both of the views are reasonable, but neither of them is comprehensive. I have a passion for learning how nutrients and food can significantly impact the body and a desire to share and help individuals reach their health and wellness goals. Additionally, this program will provide me with the opportunity to step foot into a career focused on preventative health. One of my passions in life has consistently been about food, nutrition and wellness. As a small child, I was inspired by my mother and her journey back to school to become a nutritionist. Charlie Chaplin has been a major contributor to America s advancement in the film industry from his innovative beginnings, and perseverance to improve and succeed, to his overall achievements in history. This upper atmosphere and the magnetic field form a coupled system with the Sun and the geospace. This coupled system and their interaction with each other is studied under the Sun Earth Connection program.[4] The Sun is a hot ball of gas made of hydrogen. Most of its gas is in the fourth state of matter known as plasma, where the gas heats up to the point where atoms break up into plasma. The Sun s plasma is so hot that it escapes the Sun s gravitational field. This escape of plasma from the Sun is also known as Coronal Mass Ejection or CME. The escaped plasma forms the solar wind which blows out of the Sun and travels across the solar system with a speed of 500 Km/s, interacting with the planets magnetic field and atmosphere. These interactions result in the change of the planets, or in our case, the Earth s magnetic field from the dipole magnetic field to a plasma swept magnetosphere. The interactions also produce current to flow through the Earth s upper atmosphere and the magnetosphere causing neon light like effect resulting in the formation of aurora.[5]The Sun s atmosphere also results in other effects such as prominences and solar flare. Before the system was put in, inventory only had a few locations in the computer. There was general, staging, and receiving. The general inventory was anything in the store that was in general inventory. To locate it, a person just had to know what general area it was in or where it was in the store. When new employees were hired if they were left alone it took hours to put up stock. They would have to ask previous employees were product was or should go. It was very ineffective. Cycle counting inventory was also a nightmare. An employee could not count inventory of one location or grouping of product. Cycle counts were sporatic and there was no way to know where the product was in the store. There was not a way to cycle count all inventory in the store without doing it by each individual part number, which would have taken a month. Now, a cycle count can be done for each location accounting for all inventory in the store in just a matter of a day. This disease is caused by nematode worms, most of the cases being from a species known as Wuchereria bancrofti, or just W. bancrofti. Those who experience the conditions of the disease the worst are older individuals whom have lived in an endemic area for an extended period of time. This is because of the long gestational period for the parasitic presence to become prevalent by repeated mosquito bites and by the larva reproducing. (USAID, 2014) The disease is commonly referred to as elephantiasis due to the symptom of lymphedema. (W.H.O., 2015) Lymphdema causes the limbs to swell and become immobile, which stems from the lymph vessels becoming blocked by larva nests. The first actual documented observation of larva in the blood stream was by Jean Nicolas Demarquay, a French surgeon who extracted it from a hydrocele. A short time later, Otto Henry Wucherer discovered the presence of microfilariae in urine. The connection between the two discoveries and between microfilariae presence and elephantiasis was later discovered by Timothy Lewis. In 1876, Joseph Bancroft documented the adult parasitic worm. Perhaps most importantly; in the following year, Patrick Manson discovered microfilariae in mosquitos. This was the first time mosquitos were found to carry diseases, and would not only affect studies in regard to lymphatic filariasis, but other mosquito borne illnesses such as malaria.
