Pros And Cons Of Graphic Design
If you or someone close to you have ever had any interest in the graphic design field, you have
probably faced the dilemma yourself or have seen them agonize over the decision to go to college.
Graphic design is a fairly new field, but especially in the past decade the career field has gained
momentum with the increasing improvements with technology and the need for logo branding,
advertisements, and web or app platform aesthetics. Some prefer to call the degree Mass
Communications or Digital Media because of the relation with Graphic Design as designing physical
media such as magazines, while more and more of our modern media is consumed digitally. The major
is usually a new program or class and becoming a very common major, however many famous graphic
designers, such as Alexey Brodovitch or Karen X. Cheng, decided not to attend or finish college
because their portfolio was impressive and they simply did not need to, or because of the cost. While a
degree in Graphic Design is an art degree that can almost guarantee you some type of job, it is still an
art degree. With inflation and tuition costs through the sky, 50K a semester for an art degree does not
seem like highway robbery, it absolutely can be.
So let s look at the pros for attending college for graphic design. If you or that friend or acquaintance
you know is like me, then you know the stress of making a portfolio. For those who do not know what
a portfolio quite is, it is basically the art equivalent of a resume.

The Dispute Between China And The Philippines Essay
The Dispute between China and the Philippines over the South China Sea The territorial and maritime
disputes over the South China Sea (SCS) have been ongoing for decades. The disputes have been
considered to be one the fiercest contested in Asia. The South China Sea is an enclosed sea surrounded
by several different states. China, the Philippines, Vietnam, Brunei, Taiwan, and Malaysia all
surrounded the South China Sea. The main cause of tension in this dispute is because China claims to
have historical sovereignty over all of the South China Sea. Associations of Southeast Asian Nations
(ASEAN) have come up with different discussions and suggestions on how to end the disputes with
favorable conditions for all contending states. They use the principles of the United Nation
Convention of the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and form the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in
the South China Sea (DOC). The states surrounding the South China Sea possess 12 nautical miles
territorial sea and 200 nautical miles exclusive economic zones (EEZs). Thus, the South China Sea is
not only international waters, instead, it is also overlapping exclusive economic zones. According to
UNCLOS, disputes over exclusive economic zones must be resolved through negotiations by the
contending states. Many of these contending Southeast Asian states have negotiated their maritime
boundaries, however, China fails to comply. China claims that it owns all of the South China Sea, and
therefore, has no need to

The Circulatory System and Fluid Dynamics Essay
1. Conductive arteries Conductive arteries are the most proximal compartment of the coronary arterial
system. Their diameter is generally ranging from 500 μm up to 2 5 mm. These are large epicardial
coronary arteries that work as a capacitance function for the blood flow. They have very low
resistance to blood flow and therefore, the pressure drop along the length of conductive arteries is
negligible. The conductive arteries have an inbuilt characteristic of maintaining the shear stress by
changing epicardial dilatation. This characteristic is called being responsive to flow dependent
dilatation. They are not very responsive to intravascular pressure or metabolites. [1]
Prearterioles Prearterioles are the intermediate compartment to ... Show more content on

This would help to maintain a constant pressure at the origin of the arterioles. The entire process is
vasodilatory in nature and takes places due to the release of vasodilators. Nitric Oxide (NO) is one of
the most common vasoactive substances. They are released by the endothelium as a response to the
shear stress changes in the coronary arteries. Since the entire process is about automatic dilatation of
the coronary arteries and proximal arterioles in response to changes in pressure, it is called as
endothelial dependent dilatation. [1][4][5]
3. The arterioles are very responsive to the changes in the concentration of metabolites released by the
myocardium, unlike the conductance arteries and the prearterioles. Arterioles play a key role in
regulating the blood flow across it and also maintaining the metabolic balance. The arterioles remain
very relaxed and balanced i.e. they have a good resting tone. When the myocardium releases
metabolites, there is an increase in the oxygen consumption by the metabolites. As a result of this, the
arterioles dilate and decrease the resistance of blood flow in the entire network. This in turn decreases
the pressure in distal prearterioles. Thus, the vessels dilate. As the distal prearterioles and the arterioles
dilate, the shear stress in the larger prearterioles and conductance arteries increases. Thus,

Constantine s Conversion To Christianity
The Conversion of Constantine
During the period of the 3rd Century (250 538) the Church faced many challenges. These challenges
helped make the Church what it is today. One of the events that the Church faced was Constantine s
birth. He was born around 274 and 288. Constantine became the Emperor of Rome in 306. He was
known for being the first Roman Emperor to convert to Christianity. Constantine also established the
city of Constantinople. He is also known as Constantine the great, Constantine I and Saint
Constantine. He gave a great deal of money to those people in need. He even gave money to non
Christians, who had no claim on him. He provided money, food and clothes to those who had nothing.
He was generous to everyone.

This local charity is run by numerous churches. Need help paying your bills helps anyone regardless
of their religion, race, gender or age. This is something Constantine did. He helped others no matter
what the circumstance was. This shows what a true Emperor was and how well he followed in Jesus
footsteps. In the many years Constantine was alive he did many things with the church. Constantine
helped assemble and took part in the very first meeting of the Christian Churches. The Council of
Nicaea which was held in 325 in what we know today as Iznik, Turkey. He wished to help church
leaders find common ground on some contentious aspects of Christian doctrine. The Christian belief
championed by Arius, a priest from Alexandria, Egypt, held that Jesus, through the Son of God, was
inferior to God the Father.During Constantine years of being alive he tried to define what a Christian
believed to others and tried to pursued other to convert to Christianity. In Constantinople, During 337

Rhetorical Analysis Of Man s First Steps On The Moon
The purpose of each text is based on the historical movements that occurred in the early todays. The
interaction of the speaker , audience, and subject is effective in the text by using ethos, pathos, and
logos.
First, Man takes first steps on the moon, is about the very first trip to the moon and how Neil
Armstrong was the very first man to step on the moon. Neil Armstrong was the first man that walked
on the moon s surface early today. The occasion occurred 1969, when a man went to the moon for the
first time. The passage is about the experience that everyone was able to watch when Neil Armstrong
step the moon. The article isn t good at achieving its purpose because Neil Armstrong uses both facts
and quotes from people who were involved or were there in the moon landing. The article appeals to

The Development of Rockets
1.3 Developing of rockets.
Russian scientist Konstantin Tsiolkovsky was one of the very first people who put forward the idea of
using rockets for space missions, he was also the first person to design a rocket for interplanetary
exploration and he accomplished this in 1903. German scientist Hermann Oberth continued to outline
the principles of interplanetary flight in 1920, soon followed by an American scientist Robert Goddard
who began to develop a liquid rocket engine in 1923 and by 1925 had created a working prototype. He
set up the first liquid rocket, using gasoline and liquid oxygen as fuel in March of 1926. The works of
Tsiolkovsky, Oberth and Goddard were then continued by rocketry enthusiast groups in the United
States, the Soviet Union and Germany (Aerospace, 1994)
In Germany, similar works were led by German Interplanetary Society (VFR), as part of the group,
Johannes Winkler implemented Europe s first successful liquid rocket launch in March of 1931 and
Wernher von Braun who began the development of rocket engines for the German army artillery range
in Kummersdorf in the winter of 1932. After the Nazis came to power in Germany they allocated
some funding for the development of missiles, and in the spring of 1936 the construction rocket centre
has been approved at Peenemunde, with von Braun appointed as technical director. He developed the
A 4 ballistic missile and in 1944 began its combat application called V 2. Military applications of V 2

The As A New Way Of Telling Stories
The use of disguises in the arts has been around since the introduction of the theater. When eighteenth
century Britain latched onto the concept in literature, it took on whole different meanings. Disguises
no longer had to be masks or wardrobe changes, they could be taking on different personas or creating
different characters. Disguises had become a staple in literature, and authors were creating their own
worlds with them. In The Imperfect Enjoyment by John Wilmot, Earl of Rochester, disguises allowed
him to create a persona for his work that allows readers to separate the author from the persona. In
Moll Flanders by Daniel Defoe, Defoe acts as both the fake character of Moll Flanders and fake editor
of her autobiography to create a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, once readers delve into the poem, the persona becomes even more apparent. The persona in
this piece exudes confidence, even in light of not being able to perform. While the persona continues
to get angry and frustrated over the situation, which Rochester writes in ( And rage at last confirms me
impotent, ), there is still the sense that the persona is disguising a confidence that Rochester himself
possesses (Rochester, 2206). For Rochester to take on this piece and create such an elaborate persona,
it shows his level of understanding of the poem, as well as his education, both of which would give
him reason to be confident. By employing this in the piece, it allows the writers personality to come
through, while still proving to readers that this is in fact just a persona. The most confident aspect of
the piece is Rochester s approach to the female companion. He unconventionally gives her lines in the
poem, such as All this to love and rapture s due; / Must we not pay a debt to pleasure too? , which not
only creates the idea that the persona did not give up in the poem, but that Rochester is confident in
his ability to create something more powerful from the Avid piece for his persona (Rochester, 2206).
The persona created by Rochester in his work allows him to explore subjects without readers linking
them to him. Defoe is able to use disguises

How Does Sarty Change
Even though young Sarty despises his father s (Abner) crimes, why does he keep these crimes to
himself and not expose his father? Throughout the text of Barn Burning , Sarty seems to have
repetitive feelings of grief and despair, yet he hesitates to out his father for his crimes. Sarty is hesitant
to out his father for his crimes because he hopes his father will change, he fears his father will harm
him physically or emotionally, and he places a priority on his family s wellbeing before his own. First,
Sarty hesitates to reveal his father s crimes to others because he hopes that his father may change.
Sarty is hoping that his father will change, but without him having to act against his father. This can be
seen when Sarty is astonished by the gargantuan house of Mr. De Spain. There, Sarty thinks; Maybe
he will feel it too. Maybe it will even change him now from what maybe he couldn t help but be.
(Faulkner, 40) He wants his father to change because he is tired of the life that his father is making
him and his family live. Sarty and his family have moved 12 times within the past year. Each move,
based on the past two moves, is more than likely based off the fact that Sarty s father has either burned
another barn or damaged someone else s property again. Plus, on top of that, Abner never seems to get
his family out of this pit of despair. It s a never ending cycle. Although Sarty is trying to convince
himself that his father will change without force, his father s

Essay about Tobias Wolff s; The Rich Brother
Tobias Wolff s short story, The Rich Brother , is a parallel story to the biblical fable of Able and Cain.
The biblical story of Able and Cain is that of the first story that puts man against man. Cain and Able
are children of Adam and Eve, where Cain is the eldest and Able the younger of the two. In the
biblical story Cain and Able end up giving gifts (sacrifices) to appease to their God. This in turn,
creates tension between the two because Able s sacrifice of the lamb is much favored by God than is
Cain s offering of his crops. Cain becomes outraged because he believes that Able has purposely tried
to embarrass him, ultimately, leading Cain to become so enraged that he ends up murdering his only
brother in cold blood. Throughout, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wolff portrays Peter and Donald as rivals throughout The Rich Brother as were Cain and Able were in
the Bible. Cain and Abel s rival rivalry came to when god had favored Abel s gift of the lamb. With
favor came God s overwhelming love which Cain had exclusively desired. Peter, much like Cain,
came to a bitter rivalry with his brother Donald in that Peter wanted all the love that him mother gave
that he felt Donald was eating up. For example, when Donald had his surgery his mother protested
him even to climb trees and so on because she loved and cared for her son this enraged his brother
Pete because he didn t receive as much attention as his little brother did. Pete later states his jealousy
when he replies to Donald s accusation of trying to kill him and says mom was in a state every time
you burped (812). While it be Pete or Cain their bitterness towards their brothers are only fueled by
their own jealousies.
Mostly, throughout The Rich Brother Peter is viewed as the most selfish individual. Most important,
was that he wanted his mothers love so badly that he attempted to kill his own brother (812), which is
a reference to Cain killing his brother and leaving him in the fields. Donald says to Pete You re
basically a very frightened individual. Very threatened (811) this in turn shows that how jealous Pete
was and how he was willing to kill simply over jealousy. Moreover, Pete could not stand the fact that

The Equality Act and Employment Detriment
The EAT demonstrates, that a worker is designated to deliver a claim against his current employer
claiming that s/he had experienced a detriment for whistleblowing, even though s/he was not an
employee of the employer at the time when s/he made the protected disclosure. The EAT takes a

Detriment of disclosure to ex employer In the case of BP Plc v Elstone and Anor E worked as a senior
operations manager for BP for 25 years, left to work for P Ltd who had a number of contracts with E s
previous employer BP. While at P, E made a number of disclosures to BP managers relating to health
and safety concerns. E was dismissed by P on the grounds of having disclosed confidential
information. E was rehired by his previous employer BP but after finding out the reason he was
dismissed by P Ltd, BP told E that they would not engage with him at all. E claimed to have suffered
detriment as a result of making protected disclosures, opposing to Section 47B ERA BP claimed that E
s claim was not a legitimate action as he was not employed by BP at the specific time disclosures. E s
counter argument was that he could be a worker of any employee within reason, not just an employee
of the employer who caused the alleged detriment. It was concluded by the Employment Tribunal that
the employee has to be employed by the employer of the date the disclosure took place. This is a

Alopecia Fever Research Paper
Alopecia is a common autoimmune disease. It results in the loss of hair on the scalp and elsewhere. It
usually starts with one or more small, round, smooth patches. It occurs in males and females of all
ages and races, but it most often occurs in childhood.
Approximately 6.8 million people in the United States, and 147 million worldwide have or will
develop alopecia areata at some point in their lives. In alopecia areata, the affected hair follicles are
mistakenly attacked in groups by a person s own immune system, resulting in the arrest of the hair
growth stage. These affected follicles become very small, drastically slow down production, and
grown no hair visible above the surface for months or years. The scalp is the most commonly affected

businessman who has influenced a lot of people. Including us, his children.

War Never Changes In Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse Five
War never changes, which is what gets described in the book Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut.
In the book, readers follow Billy Pilgrim a time traveling war victim who survived Dresden. War is
the worst thing a human can experience because there is nothing intelligent about it, it kills, and it
destroys beautiful things.
Every smart person has made at least one stupid decision in their life. Kurt Vonnegut has seen what
stupid decisions can lead to like the bombing of Dresden which is why he said there is nothing
intelligent to say about a massacre , and he s completely correct because what is there to say that could
be intelligent about a massacre. For example if someone would try to reason here s probably all they
could come up with, number one It was a good use of money no it wasn t no matter how it happened it
s still a lot of money to clean up,rebuild,or pay for the cost of ammunition or bombs, Number two It

Reducing Acute Hospital Readmissions Through Telehealth...
Reducing Acute Hospital Readmissions through Telehealth Technology
The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate that utility of telehealth technology (THT) has the ability
to improve patients health and reduce costly hospital readmissions for those living with chronic
diseases in the United States (US). Nationally, most of our healthcare expenditures are allocated to
caring for patients with chronic conditions. Bunnell et al. (2012) suggested that it cost the US more
than 2.5 trillion dollars to manage and treat chronic disorders. Because of less than optimal
management of chronic diseases in the outpatient setting, these patients are frequently readmitted to
the hospital.

Else, complications can lead to numerous readmissions and longer length of stays.
Impact of Issue on Quality of Life and Financial Systems
The current workflow my unit employs to educate patients regarding their chronic condition is
inadequate. Because of busy patient assignments, I usually have very little opportunity to ensure that
patients thoroughly comprehend their care needs. Essentially, we use what is referred to as teach back.
This entails the nurse teaching the patient about proper management of his or her health condition.
Once the educational session is complete, nurses ask patients to explain to them what they have
learned. Perhaps this method of teaching might be effective if I had time to perform the actual
teaching; however, I have very little opportunity to do so and there are no signs that this dilemma will
change anytime soon. Instead of spending adequate time with patients and providing a thorough
educational experience, I am inundated with unskilled tasks. Therefore, my patients leave the hospital
with very little understanding of their treatment regimen. Moreover, many of these patients are
readmitted to my unit within 30 days. Consequently, hospitals are penalized by third party payers
when this occurs (See Appendices A).
My unit is already dealing with some very challenging financial issues due to reduced reimbursements
from third party payers. Regrettably, hospitals with patients readmitted within 30 days of a recent

Meaning In Art
The meaning of a unadorned sculpture that one passes by on a routine bases, can end up having a
much more monumental and deep meaning than what an individual may have discerned. Untitled is
just one example of the multiple pieces of artwork that stands tall throughout the Lewis and Clark
Community College campus. A strong representation of many different feelings is given off to the
buildings, its surroundings, and the students and faculty that walk among it. Each physical
characteristic comes together to design the horse and can be analyzed to have meanings like
recognition, nobility, and guidance. Outside Trimpe Hall on Lewis and Clark Community College
campus sits a majestic, light brown, wood colored figure. It is placed directly on the ground, along the
side of a little stone pathway. Little patches of grass are peeking up through the mulch. The shape of
the statue resembles that of a horse. As you move closer to the artwork you notice pieces of logs are
carved in a perfect way in order to intertwine between each other leaving just the right amount of
spaces in between. The front end, which faces the parking lot, is slightly facing downwards, as if it

Reptiles have repeatedly invaded marine environments with varying success and marine adaptation
has been undertaken more than once in the history of the Cheloniidae family. Marine reptiles were
particularly successful in the Mesozoic as major predators in the sea. Mesozoic marine reptiles

Cheloniidae, one of which is the loggerhead sea turtle (Bowen 2003). Today, only seven or eight
species of marine turtles survive, distributed unevenly through all three tropical oceans. The modern
decline in sea turtles species is not due to inherently poor adaption to post Pleistocene conditions, but
is mainly a result of current and past anthropogenic exploitation. Additionally, the greater diversity of
sea turtle taxa in the past compared to today is also due to the disappearance of entire isolated oceans
such as the Nirobrara Sea, which was once inhabited by a diversity of seat turtle species. It is also due
to other evolutionary mechanisms. Early sea turtle lineages had a growth of experimental type species
that were more specialized, and these eventually became narrowed down to modern species as
overspecialized species had a poor response to changing

thing if the investor already has long term capital gains. Second, and most troublesome, is the inability
to deduct losses to the extent that the investor has an unrecognized gain. Also, financing charges for
straddle positions are not deductible. Instead, for the investor in a straddle situation, the charges are

Harris quoted another author to say, these linguistic and stylistic considerations, when weighed against
the undoubted resemblances between the first 20 chapters and chapter 21, it offers no sufficient
information that would lead one to believe that chapter 21 was written by any other author. Harris
contends that most scholars, do not make the decision for or against the identity of the authorship
based on the stylistic or linguistic evidence, but rather, that argument is made on the basis of the
content or logical argument flow. Harris uses the knowledge of other scholars regarding chapter 21 of
the Gospel of John. He highlights another scholar when viewing the idea if chapter 21 was just an
addendum to the Gospel of John or is it an item of necessity. He quotes S. Smalley to say this, Smalley
demonstrates that chapter 21 is not as much of an addendum as some believe, and that it does in fact
provide a necessary conclusion to the Fourth Gospel, which does not merely end with the confession
by Thomas, but offer a repetitive emphasis that the disciples will continue the witness of Jesus even
after He has ascended to His Father, in addition to carrying out the mission

Vard The Evolution Of The Film Genre
Films are divided by different genres a French word meaning type or kind (Neale Stephen, 7),
including melodrama, comedy, and tragedy. Genre has occupied an important place in the study of the
cinema for over thirty years. One of the biggest genres that has been evolved over the years and has
many implications is melodrama. As a theatrical genre, melodrama came into existence in the late
eighteenth century in France and Germany (Neale Stephen, 184). In the following century melodrama
genre has spread and developed quick from France to Britain, America, and the rest of Europe. The

Interview From My Subculture Of People With Siblings Who...
One of the people who I chose to interview from my subculture of people with siblings who have
developmental disabilities is my roommate Hannah Dorough. Hannah and I had met briefly before
coming to school at various events through the University Honors Program before we truly introduced
ourselves at SOAR at the beginning of June. Since then, we have become close friends throughout our
time spent living together in our dorm room. I interviewed Hannah in our dorm room this past Sunday
after I got back to school from my weekend at home. We were sitting in the living space of our room
that we share with two other girls when I interviewed her about her five year old half sister named
Bethany, who has autism. Hannah sat on the arm of the couch while I sat on the couch cushions
because that is where we both prefer to sit, even when we are just hanging out around the room.
Hannah moved throughout the kitchen area and living space, as well as venturing into her room and
bathroom when she received a call from her boyfriend, Alex, during the interview. I, however,
remained in my spot on the couch for the interview s duration. I chose to interview Hannah in our
dorm room because the setting was comfortable for both of us because we live there. However, there
were a few distractions in our room because my other roommates and a few friends were over at the
same time, so they were having their own conversations at the same time. Despite these distractions, I
feel that our interview was

How Did The Right Of The Government Change The Power Of...
The world is always changing, people, ideas, and new rules. The way people think and what they want
in life change as they age and as new progress is made. Therefor, government should be changed when
its ideals no longer aline with that of the peoples. The right of the government to rule over people
should come from the people s approval. If people do not agree with their government they have the
right to change their government. This right has changed history all over the world. Without this right
the power of the government may be in the hands of a single ruler or monarch who has no interest in
their people s wants or needs, and when this power falls into the wrong hands the people of a country
have the right to take this power away and end the trynary in their country and give power to a more
well suited government. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There have been many instances in history where the people have successfully caused a change in
their government. The Declaration of Independence calls on this right when they broke away from
England and formed their own government. England has also used the right to alter government when
dethroning king Charles I during the English Civil War. Charles s belief of absolute power in a sole
monarch was countered by Parliament, who won the war, wanting to rule over the English
government. Giving Parliament the power to rule over the English government was a great change to
how the country was ruled, and creating the Commonwealth of England. These are not the only
instances in which the people s power to alter the government has changed history forever, but they
are two times the people have changed their country

Sylvania Campus Buildings
The purpose of this project is to survey the Sylvania Campus s buildings and to briefly provide some
major solutions.
The Sylvania Campus was opened in 1968, southwest Portland between Tigard and Lake Oswego. It is
the oldest and the largest of the Portland Community College Campuses. According to www.pcc.edu,
each year the campus receives 30,049 students, it has 10 buildings that provides many different
features and programs. For example, a fitness place includes a swimming pool MakerSpace for
students to create anything their minds envision, and an art theater. Figure 1

wonderful idea and will make Sylvania campus a safe place.
The reconstruction will be about replacing half of the concrete used by the materials we proposed.

In conclusion, this was the survey that has been done at Sylvania Campus s buildings by the Makasi

staffing meetings, competency meetings, process improvement meetings, patient care meetings, and

am able to witness several leadership styles; some good and some bad. The most common style
employed by higher level leaders (Admirals, Commanding Officers, and Officer s In Charge) is
distributive leadership while lower level leaders (Division Officers, Department Heads, and Chiefs)
tend to use the expectancy theory, both discussed in our Green (2013) text. However, being under

How My Sex, Gender, And Race Ethnicity Influenced My...
In this self analysis, I look at how my sex, gender, and race ethnicity influenced my concept of family
and traditional gender roles. Education as a minority has forced an awareness on the disproportion of
men and women in STEM majors. Navigating through stereotypes, cultural differences, and
similarities amongst family, peers, and strangers has been an ongoing voyage in my life. The
opportunities my upbringing and culture has afforded and the consequences of chances are critical in
how I balance multiple statuses. Identifying as a double minority has affected my life experiences and
potential career options will also be reflected upon. The master, ascribed status associated with being a
woman has countless affects on my experiences and how it has designed my life. Everything I do is
with the mindset of a woman, whether it is how I dress or how I speak. From the time when I was
young, I was the first female child within my generation. Even at the age of five, I recall countless
times where I had to prove I could hang with the boys. This sort of initiation occurred in countless
ways from doing gross dares to having to show I can take a punch literally. Enduring all this mayhem
only seemed natural because I did not want to be seen or treated differently from the boys. Time
passed and my woman ness became even more prevalent as boys were able to get away with things
that I could not. Close your legs, girls do not play with toy guns, Put down the Gameboy, go play with

1.2 The impact of ICT?
Multitasking in the workplace long predates ICT, but ICT, if not a prerequisite for multitasking, is a
significant enabler and amplifier of multitasking. From an ICT evaluation perspective, it is therefore
pertinent to ask: Whether such modes of working (learning is a separate question) are better in some
(or any) sense than monotasking? and When and if is multitasking a beneficial development in the
workplace?
There is, as will be seen below, a body of research addressing the first of these questions, but little
research which looks at the second. Furthermore, only a modest portion of this research is to be found
in the IT evaluation literature (or in the wider IS literature). There is a embryonic body of research
into the impact of multitasking on some specific types of

Supernatural Elements In William Faulkner s The Sound And...
Southern Gothic is defined as a genre of southern writing specific to American literature exclusive to
the American South. Stories in this genre of southern writing focus on grotesques themes and include
supernatural elements that are mainly focused on damage, the harsh conflicts of violence, racism, and
delusional characters. William Faulkner, in his book The Sound and the Furry , displays all of these
elements. It is seen by every character in the book and the scenes they play in the story, which is a
specific role in creating the Southern Gothic vibe. The story is told by the Compson children, which
are Benjy, Quentin, and Jason. Each of the children has their own section in the book in which they
describe their characteristics and let the readers know how the Civil War in the South lead for their
family to be dysfunctional in different ways. Faulkner s work is the embodiment of Southern Gothic
Style because in his writing a common theme is disintegration as well as a very serious obsession with
the Civil War as seen throughout his book with all the characters being deeply flawed in their own
ways. In the story, the grotesque atmosphere and social issues worsen as each of the characters tell
their story. All of the sections of the book come together to display the symbol of Southern Gothic.
In his novel, Faulkner tells the story of the disintegration of the Compson which is a Southern family.
The Sound and the Furry demonstrates an incredible innovative narrative style of the gothic theme of
disintegration. The first section of the book is told from the perspective of Benji who in the book is
described as disabled and is the youngest of the Compsons. The section of Benjy was told in a
childlike, disconnected and twisted manner. For Benjy order is very important for him since he gets
very upset when he sees anything that is not usual. An example of this is shown when Benjy becomes
inconsolable when his daily routine is modified. When Jason takes Benjy back to his regular routine
his mood changes and he is more relaxed. This shows how he is not used to his new life after the south
is redefining and that his parents and Cady have not been there liked they used to help him go through
this change. The

Color Purple Archetypes
Alice Walker, author of The Color Purple, portrays the main character Celie as an introverted butterfly
who has yet to come out of her cocoon, hiding away from confrontation and actions that could cause
negative reactions. As the story progresses, she blossoms before the reader, becoming more present in
her world where she would otherwise be shuttered in. Her character development is due to the
introduction of two very empowering and independent women, acting as female archetypes
throughout the novel. Shug, a woman with a fiery personality that ignites inspiration in Celie to
further herself as a woman, is the main focal point of the female archetype in this novel. Celie wants
to change herself; not to fit into the mold in which Shug has pushed herself into, but to better her life.
Shug s personality was able to rid Celie of the internal dark cloud living inside her. Shug is clearly
identified as a female archetype throughout the novel; an empowering woman who stands against the
odds she has been faced with. Another female archetype in the novel is Sofia, Mr._____ s (Celie s
husband) daughter in law. Sofia shares many qualities when compared to Shug; however, in a more

becoming a caregiver of sorts. She can also be seen as possessing the hero archetype because Celie
admires Shug and aspires to be similar to her, not in her behavior but her confident personality. Celie
sees how easily it is for Shug to stand up for herself and to act confident around higher male figures,
both are things she has never managed to

Separation Of Powers And The United Kingdom s...
This essay is aimed to focus on and examine the importance of having a separation of powers and the
reasons for having same in the United Kingdom s constitution. We shall further look into the structure
of the United Kingdom s constitution whilst assessing its somewhat unclear separation of powers
which exist and assess the reasons why the United Kingdom s system of government does not adhere
to the doctrine of the separation of powers. The separation of powers is defined as the political
doctrine of constitutional law under which the branches of government are divided to prevent an abuse
of power. These three branches are the Legislative, Executive and Judicial and are assigned special
powers to maintain a check and balance on each other. In this essay, we shall further go on to discuss
the roles and functions of each of the mentioned branches of government and the extent to which this
defined separation of power is enforced and/or practiced in the United Kingdom s system of
government taking into account the traditional structure that has been maintained over the years.
Aristotle states, There are three elements in each constitution ...first, the deliberative, which discusses
everything of common importance; second the officials; and third, the judicial element. These three
elements as defined by Aristotle are now known as our Legislative, Executive and Judicial arms of the
United Kingdom s system of government.

So what exactly is a tavern wench ?
Well, it s basically a period costume but has many modern variations on the theme. A tavern wench is
a woman or girl that serves in a tavern, Inn or Pub. She is basically the focal point of many of the
patrons attentions because she either serves them a frosty brew , dispenses advice or is simply pleasing
on the eye.
A tavern wench from olden times might wear a peasant top with a bustier or corset on top. She will
wear an ankle length skirt. She may wear a cloth cap or bonnet. Her costume accentuates her figure
which she uses to charm the patrons of the tavern.
There are all sorts of tavern wench costumes that are more modern. These include Oktoberfest serving
wench costumes which are fairly accurate representations of the real servers at the annual Munich beer
festival. A derivation on this theme is the Lederhosen serving wench, who wears the knickerboker
pants and braces instead of a skirt. These costumes can be really sexy and ideal if you are the host of a

Paleo diet for Autoimmune Disorders Making nutritional changes can help in treating autoimmune
disorders. One of the most celebrated diets that has been found effective is the Paleo or primal diet.
Paleo diet is based upon eating the same diet consumed by our ancestors during the Paleolithic period.
These includes fish, grass fed meats, eggs, vegetables, roots, and nuts. Eating natural, unprocessed
foods is the basic idea in paleo diet. By making a few changes in the paleo diet, a new diet plan
emerges and this focuses on treating autoimmune disorders. This diet plan is called Paleo
Autoimmune protocol. This plan can be confusing due to numerous information and ideas coming
from different people. However, the main idea with this is to follow the dietary restrictions as well as
the recommendations strictly. For other people following the paleo diet, they may be able to enjoy
eating non paleo food occasional but for those suffering with autoimmune diseases, the set diet plan
should be strictly adhered. Here are a few guidelines on paleo food choices for those with autoimmune

Scandal in Bohemia, Gender Roles Essay
Scandal in Bohemia, Gender Roles
In A Scandal in Bohemia, by Arthur Conan Doyle, society places women at an inferior level pushing
them to the background therefore never allowing us, the reader, to know them, except for Irene Adler
who shows the gender shift of the time period by becoming the main character in Sherlock Holmes
investigation and the story. A Scandal in Bohemia speaks about the famous detective Sherlock Holmes
and his adventure in retrieving a damaging photograph for a king from his ex mistress. In the society
Watson describes, the role of women is of little to no importance except for emphasis that focused on
the Kings mistress Irene Adler.

Rather than surrendering to the trickery of Sherlock Holmes, Irene Adler outsmarts him using his own
tricks and makes her escape right under his nose. The narrowly defined roles of women were evident
for the only means to discuss women in this story is through their relations with men. No woman, not
even Irene Adler, has her own story. After all in the end, even Irene Adler runs away with a man. Out
of the five female characters mentioned or referred to in this story, only one is given a name and a
personality. This lack of female representation shows how dominant males were in the society of the
story and in the society of the real world.
Irene Adler exemplified the massive shifts in gender roles that were occurring during this time in
many ways other than becoming the main character in the story along with being feared of having too
much power by the men. Throughout the story there were many hidden examples of how Irene Adler
was the main character of how the roles of gender were changing drastically in the period of this story.
Adler is the character of changing gender roles which is revealed through a division of female
physiology and male psychology. The king remarks that she had the face of the most beautiful women
and the mind of the most resolute men . She also freely crosses gender barriers by wearing men s
clothing, confessing that male costume is nothing new to me. I often take advantage of the freedom
which it gives. Adler s active

Who would expect that a town known for their excellent education systems, well developed economy,
and rapid population expansion to have the highest record of heroin deaths in one year in the United
States? Naperville, Illinois, is a suburb of Chicago, has been dealing with the loss of seven young
adults from overdoses of heroin in 2011 (Wilson). The early deaths of these young people are
completely avoidable. Having proper knowledge of the warning signs that heroin displays can help;
but to further the knowledge, having videos available to watch helps parents talk to their kids about
drug use. Better communication can always help any problem, which is another tactic that the city of
Naperville is planning to do.

One of the filmmakers stated that they felt like the use of heroin went underground after the film was
released because parents and others learned the secrets of drugs after watching it (Healy). This was the
film that brought Naperville together to work towards a safer community.
The shaken Naperville community is beginning to take steps to stop the craze of heroin. The city of
Naperville realized that it needed to have the whole community involved including schools, local
businesses, and religious groups. KidsMatter is a nonprofit organization that created ParentsMatterToo
which is aimed to help parents raise kids who avoid drugs. Having a strong connection between parent
and child can dramatically alter the outcome of their lives. A local article states that: 67% of
youngsters believe their parents are their biggest influence with regard to staying drug free (Welge).
Creating a bong between parent and child can save a life. ParentsMatterToo has interactive videos and
support groups which is offered to anyone wanting to know more (Wilson). Having this opportunity to
become educated about drugs can give parents more comfort when talking to their kid about drug use
and prevention.
ParentsMatterToo provides endless information about drug use, a common topic that would be
discussed with the support groups would be the warning signs. Parents need to be observant if they
suspect that their child is using drugs. Warning

Violence In Hip Hop Music
Hip hop music and its artists are often criticized by some for glamorizing violence and being
questionable influences on today s youth. However, these artists and the dancing styles tied to their
music have not always been the same. In its roots, hip hop was originally designed to do just the
opposite. Originating on America s East coast, it was meant to distract the youth from the gang
violence riddling their neighborhoods and promote healthy competition through the popular art of
break dancing . Break dancing along with the art of graffiti meant that these neighborhoods had a
different means of competition rather than getting into fights, gun battles and other forms of violence
to decide which neighborhood was better. As the rhythmic beats ... Show more content on

Boogaloo Sam and his crew the Electric Boogaloo s are credited as being the first to pop . Popping,
often confused with locking , is when the performer uses quick yet fluid contractions of muscles to
match the rhythm of the music. This in turn has an illusionary effect that resembles the fluidity of
liquid water. On the other hand, Cambellocking now usually referred to as just locking is quite the
opposite of popping. Locking can be described as popping but for longer periods of time, creating a
less fluid and more staccato look to the moves. Locking was first made famous by Cambellock and his
crew The Lockers in 1969. Other street styles have developed from the western coast of the United
States, also.

Over all , the trend that we noticed was that most patients preferred cold therapy over heat therapy, but
in most cases, when both aspects were utilized, they yielded a better result.
Research
Because pain is the main issue that we are looking at absolving, we wanted to look at how patients
reacted to pain. Yvonne C. Lee et al. looked at pain sensitivity and pain reactivity in osteoarthritis. The
purpose of the study was to assess the experimental pain sensitivity and compare the inflammatory
response to pain in 26 OA patients and 33 age and sex matched controls from the general population.
The methods consisted of participants undergoing psychophysical pain testing to assess pain
sensitivity in response to heat, cold and mechanical stimuli. Blood samples were taken at baseline and
four time points after testing to determine the effect of acute pain on C reactive protein (CRP),
interleukin 6, interleukin 1beta and tumor necrosis factor alpha. (Lee et al., 2011) They found that
patients with osteoarthritis had lower pressure pain thresholds (P ≤ 0.003) and higher heat pain ratings
(P ≤ 0.04) than controls across multiple body sites. Patients had higher CRP levels than the controls (P
= 0.007). CRP levels did not change in response to pain testing. Although not statistically significant,
patients tended to have higher interleukin

Chuang Tzu s Basic Writings Essay
Chuang Tzu s Basic Writings, with his idea of the way which is effortless and ineffable, seem to
suggest a minimalist take on government. The Daoist philosophy present in the text has no room for
organized hierarchy or unified morality in the understanding of the world. This leaves no room for
government whose laws and bureaucracy are based on codified morality and hierarchy. The
government must also allow its citizens to practice the wu wei, which means the government would
have to allow individual freedom. Thus the only suitable form of government following the way
would be a limited structure emphasizing individual morality essentially a libertarian form of
government. There is a lack of hierarchy in Chuang Tzu s Daoism due to the belief in the
indistinguishable position of the individual to the rest of humanity and humanity to all the world. This
is evident in The Dream and The Butterfly in which Chuang Tzu shows that the perspective of a
human is no truer than the perspective of a butterfly. In the fable, Chuang Tzu s questioning of which
organism is the reality and which is the dream blurs the distinction between humanity and nature. This
is consistent with Chuang Tzu s belief that humanity is one with nature, meaning that human
government should reflect the form of hierarchy present in the natural world. Such a belief in the most
natural sense of hierarchy would at first suggest that the way is a path of egalitarianism; however, this
belief that, in nature,

  • 2. Pros And Cons Of Graphic Design If you or someone close to you have ever had any interest in the graphic design field, you have probably faced the dilemma yourself or have seen them agonize over the decision to go to college. Graphic design is a fairly new field, but especially in the past decade the career field has gained momentum with the increasing improvements with technology and the need for logo branding, advertisements, and web or app platform aesthetics. Some prefer to call the degree Mass Communications or Digital Media because of the relation with Graphic Design as designing physical media such as magazines, while more and more of our modern media is consumed digitally. The major is usually a new program or class and becoming a very common major, however many famous graphic designers, such as Alexey Brodovitch or Karen X. Cheng, decided not to attend or finish college because their portfolio was impressive and they simply did not need to, or because of the cost. While a degree in Graphic Design is an art degree that can almost guarantee you some type of job, it is still an art degree. With inflation and tuition costs through the sky, 50K a semester for an art degree does not seem like highway robbery, it absolutely can be. So let s look at the pros for attending college for graphic design. If you or that friend or acquaintance you know is like me, then you know the stress of making a portfolio. For those who do not know what a portfolio quite is, it is basically the art equivalent of a resume. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Dispute Between China And The Philippines Essay The Dispute between China and the Philippines over the South China Sea The territorial and maritime disputes over the South China Sea (SCS) have been ongoing for decades. The disputes have been considered to be one the fiercest contested in Asia. The South China Sea is an enclosed sea surrounded by several different states. China, the Philippines, Vietnam, Brunei, Taiwan, and Malaysia all surrounded the South China Sea. The main cause of tension in this dispute is because China claims to have historical sovereignty over all of the South China Sea. Associations of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have come up with different discussions and suggestions on how to end the disputes with favorable conditions for all contending states. They use the principles of the United Nation Convention of the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and form the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC). The states surrounding the South China Sea possess 12 nautical miles territorial sea and 200 nautical miles exclusive economic zones (EEZs). Thus, the South China Sea is not only international waters, instead, it is also overlapping exclusive economic zones. According to UNCLOS, disputes over exclusive economic zones must be resolved through negotiations by the contending states. Many of these contending Southeast Asian states have negotiated their maritime boundaries, however, China fails to comply. China claims that it owns all of the South China Sea, and therefore, has no need to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Circulatory System and Fluid Dynamics Essay 1. Conductive arteries Conductive arteries are the most proximal compartment of the coronary arterial system. Their diameter is generally ranging from 500 μm up to 2 5 mm. These are large epicardial coronary arteries that work as a capacitance function for the blood flow. They have very low resistance to blood flow and therefore, the pressure drop along the length of conductive arteries is negligible. The conductive arteries have an inbuilt characteristic of maintaining the shear stress by changing epicardial dilatation. This characteristic is called being responsive to flow dependent dilatation. They are not very responsive to intravascular pressure or metabolites. [1] Prearterioles Prearterioles are the intermediate compartment to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This would help to maintain a constant pressure at the origin of the arterioles. The entire process is vasodilatory in nature and takes places due to the release of vasodilators. Nitric Oxide (NO) is one of the most common vasoactive substances. They are released by the endothelium as a response to the shear stress changes in the coronary arteries. Since the entire process is about automatic dilatation of the coronary arteries and proximal arterioles in response to changes in pressure, it is called as endothelial dependent dilatation. [1][4][5] 3. The arterioles are very responsive to the changes in the concentration of metabolites released by the myocardium, unlike the conductance arteries and the prearterioles. Arterioles play a key role in regulating the blood flow across it and also maintaining the metabolic balance. The arterioles remain very relaxed and balanced i.e. they have a good resting tone. When the myocardium releases metabolites, there is an increase in the oxygen consumption by the metabolites. As a result of this, the arterioles dilate and decrease the resistance of blood flow in the entire network. This in turn decreases the pressure in distal prearterioles. Thus, the vessels dilate. As the distal prearterioles and the arterioles dilate, the shear stress in the larger prearterioles and conductance arteries increases. Thus, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Russian scientist Konstantin Tsiolkovsky was one of the very first people who put forward the idea of using rockets for space missions, he was also the first person to design a rocket for interplanetary exploration and he accomplished this in 1903. German scientist Hermann Oberth continued to outline the principles of interplanetary flight in 1920, soon followed by an American scientist Robert Goddard who began to develop a liquid rocket engine in 1923 and by 1925 had created a working prototype. He set up the first liquid rocket, using gasoline and liquid oxygen as fuel in March of 1926. The works of Tsiolkovsky, Oberth and Goddard were then continued by rocketry enthusiast groups in the United States, the Soviet Union and Germany (Aerospace, 1994) In Germany, similar works were led by German Interplanetary Society (VFR), as part of the group, Johannes Winkler implemented Europe s first successful liquid rocket launch in March of 1931 and Wernher von Braun who began the development of rocket engines for the German army artillery range in Kummersdorf in the winter of 1932. • 8. The As A New Way Of Telling Stories The use of disguises in the arts has been around since the introduction of the theater. When eighteenth century Britain latched onto the concept in literature, it took on whole different meanings. Disguises no longer had to be masks or wardrobe changes, they could be taking on different personas or creating different characters. Disguises had become a staple in literature, and authors were creating their own worlds with them. In The Imperfect Enjoyment by John Wilmot, Earl of Rochester, disguises allowed him to create a persona for his work that allows readers to separate the author from the persona. However, once readers delve into the poem, the persona becomes even more apparent. The persona in this piece exudes confidence, even in light of not being able to perform. While the persona continues to get angry and frustrated over the situation, which Rochester writes in ( And rage at last confirms me impotent, ), there is still the sense that the persona is disguising a confidence that Rochester himself possesses (Rochester, 2206). For Rochester to take on this piece and create such an elaborate persona, it shows his level of understanding of the poem, as well as his education, both of which would give him reason to be confident. By employing this in the piece, it allows the writers personality to come through, while still proving to readers that this is in fact just a persona. The most confident aspect of the piece is Rochester s approach to the female companion. He unconventionally gives her lines in the poem, such as All this to love and rapture s due; / Must we not pay a debt to pleasure too? , which not only creates the idea that the persona did not give up in the poem, but that Rochester is confident in his ability to create something more powerful from the Avid piece for his persona (Rochester, 2206). Sarty is hesitant to out his father for his crimes because he hopes his father will change, he fears his father will harm him physically or emotionally, and he places a priority on his family s wellbeing before his own. First, Sarty hesitates to reveal his father s crimes to others because he hopes that his father may change. Sarty is hoping that his father will change, but without him having to act against his father. This can be seen when Sarty is astonished by the gargantuan house of Mr. De Spain. There, Sarty thinks; Maybe he will feel it too. Maybe it will even change him now from what maybe he couldn t help but be. The biblical story of Able and Cain is that of the first story that puts man against man. Cain and Able are children of Adam and Eve, where Cain is the eldest and Able the younger of the two. In the biblical story Cain and Able end up giving gifts (sacrifices) to appease to their God. This in turn, creates tension between the two because Able s sacrifice of the lamb is much favored by God than is Cain s offering of his crops. Cain and Abel s rival rivalry came to when god had favored Abel s gift of the lamb. With favor came God s overwhelming love which Cain had exclusively desired. Peter, much like Cain, came to a bitter rivalry with his brother Donald in that Peter wanted all the love that him mother gave that he felt Donald was eating up. For example, when Donald had his surgery his mother protested him even to climb trees and so on because she loved and cared for her son this enraged his brother Pete because he didn t receive as much attention as his little brother did. Pete later states his jealousy when he replies to Donald s accusation of trying to kill him and says mom was in a state every time you burped (812). While it be Pete or Cain their bitterness towards their brothers are only fueled by their own jealousies. Mostly, throughout The Rich Brother Peter is viewed as the most selfish individual. Most important, was that he wanted his mothers love so badly that he attempted to kill his own brother (812), which is a reference to Cain killing his brother and leaving him in the fields. Donald says to Pete You re basically a very frightened individual. Very threatened (811) this in turn shows that how jealous Pete was and how he was willing to kill simply over jealousy. Harris quoted another author to say, these linguistic and stylistic considerations, when weighed against the undoubted resemblances between the first 20 chapters and chapter 21, it offers no sufficient information that would lead one to believe that chapter 21 was written by any other author. Harris contends that most scholars, do not make the decision for or against the identity of the authorship based on the stylistic or linguistic evidence, but rather, that argument is made on the basis of the content or logical argument flow. Harris uses the knowledge of other scholars regarding chapter 21 of the Gospel of John. He highlights another scholar when viewing the idea if chapter 21 was just an addendum to the Gospel of John or is it an item of necessity. He quotes S. Smalley to say this, Smalley demonstrates that chapter 21 is not as much of an addendum as some believe, and that it does in fact provide a necessary conclusion to the Fourth Gospel, which does not merely end with the confession

One of the people who I chose to interview from my subculture of people with siblings who have developmental disabilities is my roommate Hannah Dorough. Hannah and I had met briefly before coming to school at various events through the University Honors Program before we truly introduced ourselves at SOAR at the beginning of June. Since then, we have become close friends throughout our time spent living together in our dorm room. I interviewed Hannah in our dorm room this past Sunday after I got back to school from my weekend at home. We were sitting in the living space of our room that we share with two other girls when I interviewed her about her five year old half sister named Bethany, who has autism. Hannah sat on the arm of the couch while I sat on the couch cushions because that is where we both prefer to sit, even when we are just hanging out around the room. Hannah moved throughout the kitchen area and living space, as well as venturing into her room and bathroom when she received a call from her boyfriend, Alex, during the interview. I, however, remained in my spot on the couch for the interview s duration. I chose to interview Hannah in our dorm room because the setting was comfortable for both of us because we live there. • 33. Supernatural Elements In William Faulkner s The Sound And... Southern Gothic is defined as a genre of southern writing specific to American literature exclusive to the American South. Stories in this genre of southern writing focus on grotesques themes and include supernatural elements that are mainly focused on damage, the harsh conflicts of violence, racism, and delusional characters. William Faulkner, in his book The Sound and the Furry , displays all of these elements. It is seen by every character in the book and the scenes they play in the story, which is a specific role in creating the Southern Gothic vibe. The story is told by the Compson children, which are Benjy, Quentin, and Jason. Each of the children has their own section in the book in which they describe their characteristics and let the readers know how the Civil War in the South lead for their family to be dysfunctional in different ways. Faulkner s work is the embodiment of Southern Gothic Style because in his writing a common theme is disintegration as well as a very serious obsession with the Civil War as seen throughout his book with all the characters being deeply flawed in their own ways. In the story, the grotesque atmosphere and social issues worsen as each of the characters tell their story. All of the sections of the book come together to display the symbol of Southern Gothic. In his novel, Faulkner tells the story of the disintegration of the Compson which is a Southern family. The Sound and the Furry demonstrates an incredible innovative narrative style of the gothic theme of disintegration. The first section of the book is told from the perspective of Benji who in the book is described as disabled and is the youngest of the Compsons. The section of Benjy was told in a childlike, disconnected and twisted manner. For Benjy order is very important for him since he gets very upset when he sees anything that is not usual. An example of this is shown when Benjy becomes inconsolable when his daily routine is modified. When Jason takes Benjy back to his regular routine his mood changes and he is more relaxed. This shows how he is not used to his new life after the south is redefining and that his parents and Cady have not been there liked they used to help him go through this change. However, these artists and the dancing styles tied to their music have not always been the same. In its roots, hip hop was originally designed to do just the opposite. Originating on America s East coast, it was meant to distract the youth from the gang violence riddling their neighborhoods and promote healthy competition through the popular art of break dancing . Break dancing along with the art of graffiti meant that these neighborhoods had a different means of competition rather than getting into fights, gun battles and other forms of violence to decide which neighborhood was better. Popping, often confused with locking , is when the performer uses quick yet fluid contractions of muscles to match the rhythm of the music. This in turn has an illusionary effect that resembles the fluidity of liquid water. On the other hand, Cambellocking now usually referred to as just locking is quite the opposite of popping. Locking can be described as popping but for longer periods of time, creating a less fluid and more staccato look to the moves. Locking was first made famous by Cambellock and his crew The Lockers in 1969. Other street styles have developed from the western coast of the United States, also. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Over all , the trend that we noticed was that most patients preferred cold therapy over heat therapy, but in most cases, when both aspects were utilized, they yielded a better result. Research Because pain is the main issue that we are looking at absolving, we wanted to look at how patients reacted to pain. Yvonne C. Lee et al. looked at pain sensitivity and pain reactivity in osteoarthritis. The purpose of the study was to assess the experimental pain sensitivity and compare the inflammatory response to pain in 26 OA patients and 33 age and sex matched controls from the general population. The methods consisted of participants undergoing psychophysical pain testing to assess pain sensitivity in response to heat, cold and mechanical stimuli. Blood samples were taken at baseline and four time points after testing to determine the effect of acute pain on C reactive protein (CRP), interleukin 6, interleukin 1beta and tumor necrosis factor alpha. (Lee et al., 2011) They found that patients with osteoarthritis had lower pressure pain thresholds (P ≤ 0.003) and higher heat pain ratings (P ≤ 0.04) than controls across multiple body sites. Patients had higher CRP levels than the controls (P = 0.007). CRP levels did not change in response to pain testing. • 45. Chuang Tzu s Basic Writings Essay Chuang Tzu s Basic Writings, with his idea of the way which is effortless and ineffable, seem to suggest a minimalist take on government. The Daoist philosophy present in the text has no room for organized hierarchy or unified morality in the understanding of the world. This leaves no room for government whose laws and bureaucracy are based on codified morality and hierarchy. The government must also allow its citizens to practice the wu wei, which means the government would have to allow individual freedom. Thus the only suitable form of government following the way would be a limited structure emphasizing individual morality essentially a libertarian form of government. There is a lack of hierarchy in Chuang Tzu s Daoism due to the belief in the indistinguishable position of the individual to the rest of humanity and humanity to all the world. This is evident in The Dream and The Butterfly in which Chuang Tzu shows that the perspective of a human is no truer than the perspective of a butterfly. In the fable, Chuang Tzu s questioning of which organism is the reality and which is the dream blurs the distinction between humanity and nature. This is consistent with Chuang Tzu s belief that humanity is one with nature, meaning that human government should reflect the form of hierarchy present in the natural world. Such a belief in the most natural sense of hierarchy would at first suggest that the way is a path of egalitarianism; however, this belief that, in nature, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
