What Are The Similarities Between The Bank Of England Vs....
The Bank of England vs. the Altes Museum
European countries often used elements of the Greek architecture in their buildings. They became a
common part of official objects. The Bank of England (Great Britain) and the Altes Museum
(Germany) are good examples of this borrowing.
These buildings appeared in different countries and periods of time, but still have some similarities.
Both structures belong to the neoclassicism. The list of similarities includes pale frontispiece, columns
in front of the entrance, inner arches and an overall impression of a Greek building. Rooms in both
buildings have high ceilings, natural lighting and Greek style decorations. While Bank and Museum
have general similarities both are big old buildings with light colored outer walls and elements of the
Greek architecture in the exterior and interior, they have significant differences.
THE BANK OF ENGLAND
The Bank of England was first built on the Threadneedle Street in 1734 by George Sampson. The
structure was rebuilt several times after that. This essay will focus on the period of time when the
Bank was overseen by Sir John Soane (1788 1833). The architect used elements of traditional Greek
architecture, but abandoned the conventional order of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was designed like a small town or castle the bank had apartments and barracks, which gave people a
potential opportunity to survive wartime attacks. Soane complemented the original building with
additional structures, and these changes created an asymmetrical, irregular plan. The Bank of England
often was called the Old Lady of Threadneedle Street because of its design. The term combines the
chaos and order a union that can be seen in old British women, who tries to keep alive their former
greatness with the aid of improvised means. The Bank s size extended a lot over 45 years of Saone s
ruling ; its rooms kept symmetry by contrast with the general asymmetrical and irregular

the Rocks of the Grand Canyon (Old Earth vs. Young Earth) Dating the rocks of the Grand Canyon is
a scientific way to find out the age of this mysterious landmark. The age of the Earth and the Grand

The Grand Canyon has plenty of volcanic rocks near the bottom and the top. ICR, Institute for
Creative Research, has been involved in a project for years to date these volcanic rocks. this study has
come a long way to show that many of the Grand Canyon strata could have formed rapidly, and that
the erosion of the Canyon by the Colorado River has not been going on for millions of years.
Comparative Essay 3 Compare and Contrast . The Grand Canyon and its age determined by the young
earth and old earth scientists will always be a controversy. Either the rock dating is the evidence of
millions of years, or it is largely the evidence of Noah s Flood. It can t be both. If we believe what the
geologists says that the earth is billions of years old and shows no sign of a worldwide Flood then that
belief contradicts our belief in Noah s Flood. If we accept God s inspired testimony regarding the
Flood, we cannot logically believe in millions of years. Noah s Flood truly washes away millions of
years. The debate about the age of the earth is ultimately a question of whose word we are going to
trust, the all knowing truthful Creator who has given us His book (the Bible) or scientists who give us
their books that contain maybe errors and therefore are frequently revised. If you firmly trust and
carefully read the Bible and become informed on creationist interpretations of the geological record,

The Reasons Of The Chesapeake And New England Colonies
The Chesapeake and New England Colonies were originally settled in the early 1600 s. The
motivations behind these settlements led to their subsequent economies and societies which became
part of the foundation of these successful colonies. The Chesapeake Colonies needed cheap labor for
their tobacco plantations and the New England area sought freedom to practice religion without
restrictions from the English crown.
The Virginia Company initially colonized the Chesapeake area of Jamestown as a search for gold and
as an exploration of the area s natural resources. The company realized that for the colony to survive it
would have to forget their search for gold and instead find a profitable economy. Tobacco became
Virginia s substitute for gold. This new crop enriched a growing class of tobacco planters and many
members of colonial government. By 1624, more than 200,00 pounds of tobacco were grown and by
the 1680 s, crops totaled 30 million pounds. There was a get rich quick mind set and a frantic rush for
land and labor. Despite the severe conditions of the fields and a high death rate, the colony still
attracted immigrants. Of the 120,000 English immigrants, 3/4 came as servants. Jamestown became an
agrarian society with extensive farmlands along the region s rivers.
Because the plantations were widely dispersed, this new agrarian society had few town centers and
little social unity. The high demand for male labor in the fields meant that men outnumbered women

High Value Care Is A Driving Force And Affordable Care Act...
High value care is a driving force in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). Of
particular concern is the care of pregnant women and how families can seek safe and affordable care
outside of a hospital. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services examined the birth center
model as a means of providing high quality care. Additionally, the Strong Start Initiative of 2012 listed
Birth Centers as one of three options for enhanced prenatal care.
The American Association of Birth Centers (AABC) conducted a study in January 2013, this study
confirmed the long standing belief that midwife led birth centers provide a safe and effective health
care option for women during pregnancy, labor, and birth. Greenville Health Systems (GHS) listened
and embraced the tenet of becoming the health care value leader in the region by proposing the
construction of a three room freestanding birthing center operated by Greenville Midwifery Care.
After almost one year of service to the community, the plan is to open a second birth center near the
Patewood Memorial Hospital.
Currently, there are only six birthing centers with 15 birthing rooms in South Carolina: two in
Greenville County, one in Spartanburg, and the remaining three in Charleston, Lexington, and York
counties. The Charleston Birth Place and Greenville Birth Center are the only CABC accredited
birthing centers in the state. After just five years of operation, The Charleston birth Place is delivering

Jacob Garrett Research Paper
In high school, a group of friends introduced me to Jacob Garrett: he would soon introduce me to the
DIY music scene. I remember, in fact, the day I first saw his band, Clearviews, perform: in a twenty
feet by twenty feet room, about twenty people packed together in order to listen to punk music. Let me
clarity, these people, by societal standards, may be labeled misfits. For this reason: I felt at home.
After coming home and researching, however, it turned out that many DIY artists were social outcasts
as were their listeners. From the rapper Milo, a self proclaimed nerd who studied Philosophy of
Language, to Nouns, a punk band with representation from those on the autism spectrum, the DIY
scene was full of misfits! And I connected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now, seeing as though the measurable aspect of SMART has been expressed, let us move to its next
part. When speaking about the attainability of the DIY Project, in general, the goals are very
attainable: there already exist similar venues. So, without absolute perfection, this idea is attainable.
We simply invite musicians to play, we invite people to listen, and we invite people to create art.
Again, this is attainable. However, there is one aspect of the DIY Project that may be unattainable: a
alcohol/drug free venue. Unfortunately, some people enjoy sneaking such substances into venues. For
this reason, we will publically exhibit our disdain for drugs and alcohol in the venue: it ruins the
experience for too many people (speaking from prior knowledge). Also, there must be staff that
watches for drug and alcohol usage. This, in the end, may only allow for substance usage to become
lower than most venues. In sum, then, the DIY Project may not be able to rid itself of all drugs and
alcohol, but it can minimize the presence of such

The Baptism Debate
Often held as a rite of passage and entrance into the Christian church, baptism is much more than just
symbolic ritual. Baptism was commanded by Jesus Christ in the Great Commission recounted in the
book of Matthew. Even though we are simplistically called to be obedient by being baptized the
Christian church has long debated the aspects of this ordinance. Denominations are divided on the
basic meaning, types and modes of baptism even two thousand years after the founding of the
Christian church. Just as the other ordinance, the Lord s Supper, congregations find themselves at odd
with tradition, biblical interpretation and even individual understanding. However, the simple message
of this awe inspiring act can be explained out of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thereafter, infant baptism became the norm. (Hammett, 2005, pg 269) Three arguments are often used
in support of infant baptism. The early church used the idea of household baptisms mentioned in the
book of Acts to support that entire families were baptized for the acceptance of faith by the parents of
the household. Other historians point to the Gospel encounter of children being brought to Jesus for
blessing and for Him to pray over the children. The last support can be found in the need of an act of
covenant being established as it once was in the Old Testament. In the time of Abraham young boys
were circumcised as a sign of the convent. In the New Testament infant baptism was used as that sign.
(Hammett, 2005 pg 269 270). Each of these were steeped further in tradition than biblical basis. The
New Testament points more specifically to believers baptism rather than infant baptism. As stated
earlier, baptism is a symbolic act of obedience representing a choice of salvation through Jesus Christ.
It is unreasonable to think that an infant would be able to make such a choice by itself. The parallel of
Abraham s covenant is also misapplied. Hammett points out, As circumcision was applied to Abraham
s physical seed under the old covenant, so baptism is to be applied to Abraham s spiritual seed under
the new covenant. But the spiritual seed of Abraham are thus of faith, which means that believers
should be baptized, which, they would

Consequences Of Brexit
Estimating the effects of Brexit
To forecast the consequences of the UK leaving the EU, we must make assumptions about how trade
costs change following Brexit. It is not known exactly how the UK s relations with the EU would
change following Brexit, which means that there is a lack of clarity over the consequences of Brexit
for trade costs between the UK and the EU. To overcome this difficulty, we analyse two scenarios: an
optimistic scenario in which the increase in trade costs between the UK and the EU is small, and; a
pessimistic scenario with a larger rise in trade costs.
The optimistic scenario assumes that in a post Brexit world, the UK s trade relations with the EU are
similar to those currently enjoyed by Norway. As a member of the European Economic Area (EEA),
Norway has a free trade agreement with the EU, which means that there are no tariffs on trade
between Norway and the EU. Norway is also a member of the European single market and adopts
policies and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Trade can have positive effects through increasing competition, which reduces excess profits and
promotes efficiency. Competition, access to superior intermediate goods and a larger export market
can also stimulate innovation. Recent research finds that dynamic effects may double or triple the size
of the static effects reported in Table 1 (Bloom et al, 2014; Sampson, 2016).
An alternative way to evaluate the consequences of Brexit is to use the results of reducedform
empirical studies of the effects of EU membership. Baier et al (2008) find that after controlling for
other determinants of bilateral trade, EU members trade substantially more with other EU countries
than they do with members of the EEA or EFTA. Their estimates imply that, if the UK leaves the EU
and joins EFTA, its trade with countries in the EU will fall by about a

Improving HTTP Performance Using Stateless TCP
Improving HTTP Performance Using Stateless TCP In this paper a server side approach is made
which can reduce processing load per connection. The advantages of running web servers over a basic
transport protocol that is similar to TCP are studied here. The stateless TCP for HTTP decreases the
kernel resources required per TCP connection. So it increases the number of client initiated HTTP
connections per second. Stateless TCP modifications decreases the server s CPU usage and other TCP
memory requirements. This helps to serve small webpages under overloaded situations. Two
Algorithms (David A Hayes, Improving http performance using stateless tcp, 2011) are mentioned that
show the basic operation of stateless TCP, one for incoming packets and one for outgoing packets
from server. These include few rules to react to incoming control packets and also information to deal
with application data. Algorithm 1: incoming Every TCP packet is captured which arrives at port 80

The Gravitational Slingshot Essay
The Gravitational Slingshot
The gravitational slingshot is a way that scientists have truly harnessed the gravitational pull of a
planet by using it to launch satellites and other useful projectiles towards their desired locations. This
method was developed through the use of Newton s Laws of Gravity and Kepler s Laws of Planetary
Motion. When these ideas of gravity and the shape of a planet s orbit were brought together piece by
piece, this new theory changed how a projectile traveling through space could simply cross an orbital
pattern, which would in turn change the path of the moving object. The change in the path accelerates
the object at a higher rate and sends it speeding off in its proper direction. The gravitational ... Show

Kepler established the Laws of Planetary Motion. The first Law states that the orbit of every planet is
an ellipse with the Sun at one of the two foci. The second law states that a line joining a planet and the
Sun sweeps out equal areas during equal intervals of time. And the final Law tells that the square of
the orbital period of a planet is directly proportional to the cube of the semi major axis of its orbit.
Kepler s Laws also come into play with the use of the gravitational slingshot, because Kepler believed
that the orbit that a planet takes around another body follows an elliptical pattern, instead of traveling
in a perfect circle. Of course each planet has a specific elliptical orbit, just as humans have different
fingerprints to identify them. Before launching their equipment into space, each planet must have its
pattern identified to ensure accurate results for the launch. This knowledge helps scientists identify
where the ellipses are in relation to the paths of orbit so that they can launch satellites in the proper
direct, at the proper time, with the proper velocity. Combining both of these sets of theories together
has lead the way to the effect we know as the gravitational slingshot effect.
Today, the gravity assist effect is used extremely often by NASA and the Air Force. It is the most fuel
efficient, naturally occurring booster in

Lewis Base Research
Description
Everyday, we encounter solutions that can be classified as bases. What exactly is a base? A scientist
named Gilbert N. Lewis came up with the definition of a basic solution, which we now refer to as a
Lewis base, which we will discuss in this lesson.
!!!What Is a Lewis Base?
What makes a solution a base? Bases are solutions that are generally described as bitter and slippery
or slimy feeling. However, how can we tell in an acid base chemical reaction, which chemical
compound is a base? There are various definitions from different scientists on what a base is. In 1923,
a scientist named Gilbert N. Lewis came up with a definition of a base. This definition of a base is
now referred to as a Lewis base.

The anion (negatively charged hydroxide ion) acts as a Lewis base
!!!Lesson Summary
In 1923, Gilbert N. Lewis came up with the definition base, which we now refer to as Lewis base. A
__Lewis base__ is a compound that is an electron pair donor or a nucleophile, which is a substance
that donates electrons. In an acid base reaction, we can recognize the Lewis base as the compound that
donates its nonbonding electrons.
Lewis bases are typically compounds that contain nonbonding pairs. Phosphine (PH3), organic
compounds containing phosphorus (P), amines and anions act as Lewis bases because nonbonding
pairs are present in these compounds. These nonbonding pairs of electrons are then donated in an acid
base chemical reaction.

The Metabolic Rate Of An Organism
Abstract: Metabolism is used to refer to all of the chemical reactions involving energy transformations
in the cell of the body, for example cellular activity such as cellular respiration and its sub activtys like
glycolysis, Krebs Cycle and the Electron Transport Chain all produce energy in the form of ATP and a
byproduct of the energy production, heat is also produced . Although the cell is not 100% efficient
thermodynamically, the energy in the form of heat is lost in the cell each time when energy is
produced. Metabolic rates of an organism can be measured directly by the amount of heat lost from
the body in a certain period of time. Another way an organisms metabolic rate can be measured is
indirectly, by measuring the amount of oxygen that is consumed in a given period of time. In the
experiment conducted, we needed to find the metabolic rate of an ectotherm. Using a goldfish
(ectotherm) we calculated the metabolic rate by means of counting the number of operculum beats
when three different goldfish where submerged in various temperatures. What was found is that the
metabolic rate increased when the temperature increased and the metabolic rate decreased as
temperature dropped.
Introduction: Metabolism is a term in which defines all of the chemical reactions involving energy
production. Some of these chemical reactions involve cellular respiration by which is the series of
metabolic process by which living cells produce energy through the oxidation of organic

Global Health Research Paper
The reasonable question posed is if the movement of people, food and manufactured goods has such a
bad impact on our health, should we take steps to reduce that movement? I don t believe that is a
realistic answer. With international travel on a far greater scale than imaginable a hundred years ago,
reducing that flow now would be near impossible.
International trade has been a demand for many decades. People will continue to trade. Instead, focus
should be on the health inspections of the items we are trading. Getting countries to participate in an
agreed upon standard of quality could help reduce the risks from the goods being traded. Lowering the
spread of global diseases has come to such a point that without fighting the diseases with ... Show

One problem a policy like this will face is trying to globally enforce a standard of quality with
countries that are not cooperative. Refusing to receive shipments that do not pass that standard is an
option. Moreover, a better quality of life globally will help as well.
The global community can t expect products to have been properly grown without bad pesticides and
grown absorbing good water from countries that have a water quality issue. If the water issue for these
countries isn t fixed, then their products become contaminated. Helping the countries come up to
standards first could ease the process of them implementing and adhering to strict global standards of
quality in regards to their exports.
I am leery of GMOs. My worry isn t the typical worry. I am not worried that it isn t natural. Very little
in our lives is natural and the world goes on. To go natural would mean to give up everything and

drought, and flooding is not only a neat scientific development, but almost a necessity since we now
see evidence of a global shift in climate change. Natural or sped up by humans is irrelevant at this
point. The climate is changing. Weather patterns are changing. We have the Midwest as one of our
major sources of food. If a major natural catastrophe occurred without us having crops that can
withstand the changes, many people would starve. In this aspect, I can see the need for

Attacks on Religious Figures in Chronicle of a Death...
In Columbian culture, society is hierarchical in which authority figures, mainly those involved in
religion and justice, are considered to have a great deal of influence and responsibility towards the
town they preside over. In Chronicle of a Death Foretold, written by Gabriel Garcia Marquez,
Marquez attacks this idea and suggests that these figures are superficial and unimportant. He does this
mainly through the religious and judicial figures of the Bishop, priest, police officer and the colonel as
authority figures that ignore their duties, thus making authority in the village in illusion.
Catholicism plays an important part in Columbian society as it influences a number of its actions and
beliefs. Thus, prominent religious figures, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The self centeredness of the village is displayed through them attempting to gain personal benefits
from the bishop. Moreover, the village s church looked like a trash heap (13). Marquez use of a simile
linking the description of the church with a trash heap suggests that the townspeople have no respect
for Catholicism. As the bishop hasn t been making any attempt to convey the Catholic ideals onto the
village, the villagers have abandoned them, which thus has caused them to become selfish. This shows
how corrupted authority figures can have negative impacts on the village.
Another religious authority figure in the novel is the priest, Father Carmen Amador. Father Amador
gets the opportunity to inform Placida Linero about her son s impending death, however he does not,
and in doing so he s made to seem irresponsible and careless. The excuse he gives is that you have to
understand that the bishop was coming on the unfortunate day (71). Much like the rest of the village,
Father Amador is awaiting the bishop s arrival in the hope that the bishop will bring gifts to him. His
occupation in attempting to receive gifts rather than saving someone s life symbolises how authority
figures in Columbian society are egotistical and easily corrupted. Moreover, this also reveals the
amount of influence authority figures have, as the bishop has made the priest

Ethical Issues In Nursing
Ethical issues will always arise during a pandemic illness. At least one of the four principles of
medical ethics that guide nurses will have to be put into play when confronted with ethical issues. The
outbreaks of the HIV/AIDS virus can be seen as an example for ethical issues posed by epidemic
emergencies. According to Chiappelli et al. (2015), ethical dilemmas observed during this outbreak
includes isolation and quarantine; privacy and confidentiality; and the interpretation of ethical norms
across different ethno cultural settings. In such cases, ethical guidance for pandemic planning is
generally concerned with procedural notions of justice (Njozing, Edin, San Sebastian, Hurtig, 2011).
Furthermore, patients often times know that they

Survival of the Marine Corps
SURVIVAL OF THE MARINE CORPS The Marine Corps historical characteristics after the Civil
War could be based in part on survivability and the need for the Marine Corps to prove its worth to the
United States as a Military Force. The Marine Corps part in the Civil War had been small and not
altogether impressive. Both the Army and the Navy did not regard the Marine Corps as useful. This
paper will in effect touch on the Marine Corps history from after the Civil War to World War I. It will
then converge on a discussion with regards to the fight against the disestablishment of the Marine
Corps. (Simmons/Moskin 1998) The Marine Corps found its mission in the amphibious landings of
several countries to protect American lives and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many official German reports had called the attacking Marines teufel hunden, meaning Devil Dogs.
These beasts were the ferocious mountain dogs of Bavarian folklore. (Sturkey 2003) Soon afterward a
U.S. Marine Recruiting Poster depicted a snarling English Bulldog wearing a Marine Corps helmet.
Because of the tenacity and demeanor of the breed, the image took root with both the Marines and the
public. The Marines soon unofficially adopted the English Bulldog as their mascot. (Sturkey 2003)
Although the Marine Corps has established itself as a premier fighting force, there were still rumbles
among officials. The original culprits of the war against the Marines were the senior officers in the US
Army. This started immediately after WW I. During the build up for WW II Army General George C.
Marshall was quoted as saying that his job was to keep the Marine Corps, small, very small. General
Dwight D. Eisenhower was quoted as making similar comments. They were not the only ones.
(wanaki@infi.net Online) Both the Army and Army Air Force were making plans as early as 1943 to
gut the Marines. Marine Lieutenant Colonel Merrill Twining was visiting his brother, Brigadier
General Nathan Twining during that year and he was flabbergasted to learn that the Army officers
there were outwardly proclaiming that they weren t going to allow the Marines to command any Corps
sized units. Admirals Halsey and Nimitz made short shrift

Stereotypes In Sports
For most Americans, sports are the topics of conversations daily. Whether an athlete is thinking about
an important practice they have later that evening, or a fan is discussing the big game from last night,
sports play an important role in impacting lives. Lewis Lapham claims sports serve as much more than
just games, are unlike any other business in the United States, and deliver illusions of perfect
innocence. I support Lapham s ideas saying that sports provide falsehoods of hope, eternal glory, and
relief, and that people are often blind to these deceptions.
According to Lapham, sports promise positive abstractions like innocence, hope, and good
overcoming evil. However, sports fans are oblivious to these illusional unkept promises. ... Show more

For many players, participation in their sports offers an escape from these stresses. They are able to
leave behind the responsibilities at home and give it their all out on the field. Athletes feel great levels
of euphoria while competing because sports offer them a safe haven from reality. To Ken Skates, a
Permian High School alumni, football was always something to fall back on. He states, I get out to the
football field, and everything wipes clear in my mind (Bissinger 329.) Like players, fans also use
sports as an escape from their everyday lives. Parents put a lot of effort into their children s teams.
Some, like Dale McDougall in Bissinger s Friday Night Lights, even dedicate the majority of their
time helping to benefit their team. McDougall had built a life around it, a whole routine the lasagna
dinners, the booster club meetings, the practices in the dappled afternoon light with that sweet breeze
blowing across, and of course, those wonderful games, so glorious, so exciting, the power of a million
stars shining down on Odessa on a Friday night. She knew it had to end sometime, but she wasn t
ready yet, not in this final minute, not for her, not for her son, not for her town (Bissinger 326.)

Compare And Contrast New England And Middle Colonies
The British colonies of New England, Middle, and Southern developed during the 17th and 18th
centuries as a result of the competitive nature of the European explorers to colonize and obtain more
land than the others. The New England colonies were built upon the objectives of religious freedom
and economic prosperity. The population was consistently increasing as child birth doubled and life
expectancy improved. They experienced long winters and short summers. The colonies were located
nearby the Atlantic Ocean, which provided the colonists with great seaports. These ports were used for
trade as well as fishing sea life such as whales and fish. Here is where they set up the Atlantic trade
network, importing and exporting goods with England, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like the other colonies, the south established trading posts. They traded tobacco, rice, sugar, slaves,
and indigo with England. The flat and coastal plains permitted a great abundance of cash crop
plantations. The terrain also comprised of swampy lands, rivers, good harbors, and bays. The climate
was humid unlike New England, which created mild winters and hot summers. The main goal of the
south was economic prosperity. This invited more men to travel from England by themselves, which
decreased the number of women. The ratio of men to women was 7:1. Unlike New England and the
Middle, the Southern colony s life expectancy was low due to outbreaks of malaria and yellow fever.
Like New England, the south was dominated by few religions. Protestants and Catholics immigrated
for religious freedom. The protestants however made up the majority of the population. Cecelius
Calvert, also known as Lord Baltimore, was granted Maryland, where the House of Delegates passed
the Act of Toleration that allowed religious freedoms to all Christians in fear of a Protestant takeover.
Unfortunately for the Catholics, the Protestants did take over and removed them from the legislature.
The south developed an elected legislature with Georgia being ruled as a royal colony and Sir William
Berkeley governing Virginia. Similarly to New England, the Native Americans were captured and

Should Fund Programs Be Funded The Search For Extra...
Understanding the heavens has been a continual mystery to humans. Throughout human history,
individuals have been curious about life other than on planet Earth. The question that remains is if
humanity is alone in the universe. This question is very important because after all, the universe is still
expanding. In addition to the expansion of the universe, astronomers have discovered at least six
potential habitable worlds in our own solar system (CITE). It is natural to wonder if other worlds
might also have intelligent life and civilizations. Many claims have been made that we have already
been visited by aliens in UFOs, however, while plenty of evidence has been offered for scientific
examination so far none of it has been enough to convince us that the claims of visitations are real
(Bennett, 260). However, this doesn t mean that there is no intelligent life beyond our home planet.
Due to this, taxpayers should fund programs to begin the search for extra terrestrial life in the
universe. The reason why there should be programs that fund the search for extra terrestrial life in the
universe is because extra terrestrial life can help enhance our understanding of the universe.
Where ever extra terrestrial beings are located in space they can enhance our understanding of the
universe. This is because we are the newcomers in the universe and extra terrestrial beings can
potentially be around since the time our universe was created, which was 14 billion years ago
(Bennett,1 ).

Analysis Of The Clean Air Act ( Caa ) Essay
1. Introduction
Fairfax County, Virginia is located just west of Washington, DC (DC) and is considered part of the
Metropolitan Baltimore Washington Region. Located along the mid Atlantic coast, Fairfax County is a
temperate climate with four distinctive seasons and has an average of 42 inches of rain per year. Land
use in Fairfax County consists of a mix of commercial, residential, and industrial uses. As the
population continues to increase, available land area has decreased, which has contributing to urban
sprawl and decreased air quality (Fairfax County, 2014). With rapid growth in the county, the
transportation sectors have expanded increasing the amount of mobile sources for air pollution from
both within the county and from outside the county. Air quality in Fairfax County has been improving;
however, the county and the region have yet to meet federal air quality standards for 8 hour ozone and
particle matter.
2. Environmental Air Quality Issue
The Clean Air Act (CAA) was amended in 1990 to include the National Ambient Air Quality
Standards (NAAQS) for pollutants considered harmful to public health and the environment (U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency [EPA], 2014). Fairfax County and the DC metropolitan area are
designated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a moderate non attainment area for
the eight hour ozone standard established by the NAAQS (Fairfax County, 2014). In addition to non
attainment for ground level ozone, particle matter

Clothes and Their Power to Transform and Create Character...
The semiotics of costume explores signs and symbols present which help create a character. Costume
is a huge tool for the performer as it can convey a great deal about the character and places them into
the setting and time period. Costume is a form of expression that allows the performer to change the
way they are perceived by the audience. Colour used in costume can also translate a characters
persona or status. Colour is often manipulated subtly by directors with mise en scene.
Catholic church
In the Catholic Church symbolism and signs are very dominant and play a massive part in sermons.
The liturgical colours used for vestments are quite specific to the time of year. The range of liturgical
colours in the Church evolved from the spiritual significance that supports them. Colour is very
significant to the tradition of ritual of mass. The colour white is often seen to represent innocence of
the soul and purity this is heavily present in the Catholic Church in special occasions such as Baptism,
First Communion and Weddings. This could also be seen as a performance where the person is
perceived as innocent and pure so that they are ready to accept god. The colour white is often used in
performance and is seen as an angelic colour. Red is a symbol of guilt, anger, sin, lust, passion and
love across many cultures and is often linked to blood and sex. In the bible Isiah said Though your
sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow.

Northern vs. Southern American Colonies 1700s Essay
By the 1700 s, The northern and souther colonies had evolved into two distinct societies. This is so
because the northern and southern colonies had different environments and also different reasons of
settlement. The North was established for mainly religious freedom, while on the other hand, the south
had been established for economic freedom. The climate also affected the different turnout of the
north and the south. The north was much colder and so their soil was not beneficial for farming, so the
people of the north found other jobs, while on the other side, the south had rich soil and the colonists
there used that idea to set up huge plantations and farms. The northern colonies symbolized the

The northern colonies were very much different from the southern because they were colonized for
different reasons. The north was colonized for freedom of worship and freedom of political thought.
The colonies had hope for a separate society, where they could show their homeland, how a country
should be run. The northern colonies were based on theocracy, where the state forced the people to
live and worship in an orthodox way. The southern colonies have characteristics that are the opposites
of the New England colony s attributes. The Southern Colonies were the Province of North Carolina,
Province of South Carolina, Virginia and Province of Georgia. The Southern colonies were developed
for freedom of economic opportunity.Their economy was supported by plantations, mostly run by
slaves. The South would focus more on massive slaves work to grow tobacco and rice that they would
sell to England. The southern colonies had goals for mercantilism, and increasing the prosperity of
England. They also had a government based on a royal government, where the state was governed by
a governor and council named by the king, and an elected assembly chosen by the people. South
colonies had smaller towns, more fields. To sum it all up, the northern and southern colonies were as
different as day and night. They were colonized for different reason. Also they had a very diverse
climate. Their pattern of trade was

Dna Sequencing Essay
DNA Sequencing: Algorithms that Convert Physical to Digital
EFFECTS:
DNA sequencing, specifically with small nanopore sequencers, have the potential to advance medicine
by increasing scientific knowledge of diseases and improving medical diagnosis in remote areas. The
leading sequencer today is the MinION, which is an incredible 10x3x2cm and only requires a USB
connection to a computer [5]. The MinION currently can sequence viral and bacterial genomes, but
will expand to include full human genomes. The MinION s size and capabilities allow it to target the
microscopic source of ailments outside of the laboratory and in a greatly reduced amount of time.

A 100mV voltage is applied across the protein, which draws the DNA through the pore. When a DNA
nucleotide is in the pore, a sensor records the change in current as an event [1].
This change in current is stored in a FAST5 file type, which stores metadata and the events [7]. The
FAST5 data files then undergo base calling correlating one of the four nucleotides in DNA with each
event in Amazon Cloud with a software called Metrichor or with offline open source software called
Nanocall [7]. To reduce error rates, base calling algorithms are based off the Viterbi algorithm, which
determines the most probable path based upon surrounding measurements. In the case of base calling,
the surrounding 5 or 6 nucleotides are examined, 5 having 1024 combinations and 6 having 4096
combinations [9]. While using 6 nucleotides doubles the analysis time, it improves the accuracy of
base calling [5].
After base calling, the all analyzed events are compiled into a single complete sequence. This
sequence is then compared to sequences in databases such as What s in My Pot (WIMP) or 16S, which
match the sequenced DNA to a specific species [8]. Because of the high speed of the input and base
calling, usually species identification is done in real time [8].

No Love for Animals in Sea World
Charles Darwin once said, the love for all living creatures is the most noble attribute of man. If only
Darwin had been alive to witness the secrets of the well known marine mammal theme park known as
SeaWorld, he would have been as appalled as many have been discovering these hidden secrets. One
of the major issues with SeaWorld is animal captivity. It serves as a profitable way for people to see
and enjoy wild animals, but through the captivity it can transform harmless animals into violent,
agitated monsters in some cases. The defenseless animals, such as the killer whales at Seaworld, are
deprived of their family, lives and freedom, which can lead to exceptional aggression. Many people
that visit SeaWorld or know of the theme park believe that it is just a welcoming marina and a great
place to take family to see wild animals and the remarkable shows that the killer whales present.
Clearly many people do not realize the truth behind what SeaWorld is doing to these poor animals. For
starters, captive marine animals are robbed of most everything that is natural to them such as living in
a family pod and swimming up to a hundred miles each day. Obviously these necessities cannot be
met within the small enclosures where the killer whales live. Another less known fact about SeaWorld
is that it lowers animals life spans quite drastically. Orca whales live on an average of thirty to fifty
years in the wild and some can live to ninety, but the average age for orcas in

Teotihuacan Culture
The culture that I will be talking about is the culture of Teotihuacán from Mexico. Between 100B.C.E

perspective there are different factors that contributed to the growth of Teotihuacán, resources,
neighbors, trade, religious matters, and economy. This paper will basically focus on the economy and
how it was utilized to form this urban state of Teotihuacán, whether it be the effects of trade and
tribute, goods and services, reciprocity, or corruption it all played a role in the uprising of this city.

Teotihuacan now experienced a kind of renewal, probably to accommodate the populations growth

  • 3. What Are The Similarities Between The Bank Of England Vs.... The Bank of England vs. the Altes Museum European countries often used elements of the Greek architecture in their buildings. They became a common part of official objects. The Bank of England (Great Britain) and the Altes Museum (Germany) are good examples of this borrowing. These buildings appeared in different countries and periods of time, but still have some similarities. Both structures belong to the neoclassicism. The list of similarities includes pale frontispiece, columns in front of the entrance, inner arches and an overall impression of a Greek building. Rooms in both buildings have high ceilings, natural lighting and Greek style decorations. While Bank and Museum have general similarities both are big old buildings with light colored outer walls and elements of the Greek architecture in the exterior and interior, they have significant differences. THE BANK OF ENGLAND The Bank of England was first built on the Threadneedle Street in 1734 by George Sampson. The structure was rebuilt several times after that. This essay will focus on the period of time when the Bank was overseen by Sir John Soane (1788 1833). The architect used elements of traditional Greek architecture, but abandoned the conventional order of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was designed like a small town or castle the bank had apartments and barracks, which gave people a potential opportunity to survive wartime attacks. Soane complemented the original building with additional structures, and these changes created an asymmetrical, irregular plan. The Bank of England often was called the Old Lady of Threadneedle Street because of its design. The term combines the chaos and order a union that can be seen in old British women, who tries to keep alive their former greatness with the aid of improvised means. The Bank s size extended a lot over 45 years of Saone s ruling ; its rooms kept symmetry by contrast with the general asymmetrical and irregular ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on Creationism and Grand Canyon Comparative Essay Dating the Rocks of the Grand Canyon (Old Earth Comparative Essay 1 Dating the Rocks of the Grand Canyon (Old Earth vs. Young Earth) Dating the rocks of the Grand Canyon is a scientific way to find out the age of this mysterious landmark. The age of the Earth and the Grand Canyon is a question both of a biblical interpretation and scientific investigation. It can be viewed by an old earth creationist and young earth creationist. The two creationists have a difference of opinion concerning the formation and age of the Grand Canyon rocks. Old Earth View Old earth creationist see the days of Genesis as long ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Grand Canyon has plenty of volcanic rocks near the bottom and the top. ICR, Institute for Creative Research, has been involved in a project for years to date these volcanic rocks. this study has come a long way to show that many of the Grand Canyon strata could have formed rapidly, and that the erosion of the Canyon by the Colorado River has not been going on for millions of years. Comparative Essay 3 Compare and Contrast . The Grand Canyon and its age determined by the young earth and old earth scientists will always be a controversy. Either the rock dating is the evidence of millions of years, or it is largely the evidence of Noah s Flood. It can t be both. If we believe what the geologists says that the earth is billions of years old and shows no sign of a worldwide Flood then that belief contradicts our belief in Noah s Flood. If we accept God s inspired testimony regarding the Flood, we cannot logically believe in millions of years. Noah s Flood truly washes away millions of years. The debate about the age of the earth is ultimately a question of whose word we are going to trust, the all knowing truthful Creator who has given us His book (the Bible) or scientists who give us their books that contain maybe errors and therefore are frequently revised. If you firmly trust and carefully read the Bible and become informed on creationist interpretations of the geological record, you can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Reasons Of The Chesapeake And New England Colonies The Chesapeake and New England Colonies were originally settled in the early 1600 s. The motivations behind these settlements led to their subsequent economies and societies which became part of the foundation of these successful colonies. The Chesapeake Colonies needed cheap labor for their tobacco plantations and the New England area sought freedom to practice religion without restrictions from the English crown. The Virginia Company initially colonized the Chesapeake area of Jamestown as a search for gold and as an exploration of the area s natural resources. The company realized that for the colony to survive it would have to forget their search for gold and instead find a profitable economy. Tobacco became Virginia s substitute for gold. This new crop enriched a growing class of tobacco planters and many members of colonial government. By 1624, more than 200,00 pounds of tobacco were grown and by the 1680 s, crops totaled 30 million pounds. There was a get rich quick mind set and a frantic rush for land and labor. Despite the severe conditions of the fields and a high death rate, the colony still attracted immigrants. Of the 120,000 English immigrants, 3/4 came as servants. Jamestown became an agrarian society with extensive farmlands along the region s rivers. Because the plantations were widely dispersed, this new agrarian society had few town centers and little social unity. The high demand for male labor in the fields meant that men outnumbered women four or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. High Value Care Is A Driving Force And Affordable Care Act... High value care is a driving force in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). Of particular concern is the care of pregnant women and how families can seek safe and affordable care outside of a hospital. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services examined the birth center model as a means of providing high quality care. Additionally, the Strong Start Initiative of 2012 listed Birth Centers as one of three options for enhanced prenatal care. The American Association of Birth Centers (AABC) conducted a study in January 2013, this study confirmed the long standing belief that midwife led birth centers provide a safe and effective health care option for women during pregnancy, labor, and birth. Greenville Health Systems (GHS) listened and embraced the tenet of becoming the health care value leader in the region by proposing the construction of a three room freestanding birthing center operated by Greenville Midwifery Care. After almost one year of service to the community, the plan is to open a second birth center near the Patewood Memorial Hospital. Currently, there are only six birthing centers with 15 birthing rooms in South Carolina: two in Greenville County, one in Spartanburg, and the remaining three in Charleston, Lexington, and York counties. The Charleston Birth Place and Greenville Birth Center are the only CABC accredited birthing centers in the state. • 7. Jacob Garrett Research Paper In high school, a group of friends introduced me to Jacob Garrett: he would soon introduce me to the DIY music scene. I remember, in fact, the day I first saw his band, Clearviews, perform: in a twenty feet by twenty feet room, about twenty people packed together in order to listen to punk music. Let me clarity, these people, by societal standards, may be labeled misfits. For this reason: I felt at home. After coming home and researching, however, it turned out that many DIY artists were social outcasts as were their listeners. From the rapper Milo, a self proclaimed nerd who studied Philosophy of Language, to Nouns, a punk band with representation from those on the autism spectrum, the DIY scene was full of misfits! And I connected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now, seeing as though the measurable aspect of SMART has been expressed, let us move to its next part. When speaking about the attainability of the DIY Project, in general, the goals are very attainable: there already exist similar venues. So, without absolute perfection, this idea is attainable. We simply invite musicians to play, we invite people to listen, and we invite people to create art. Again, this is attainable. However, there is one aspect of the DIY Project that may be unattainable: a alcohol/drug free venue. Unfortunately, some people enjoy sneaking such substances into venues. For this reason, we will publically exhibit our disdain for drugs and alcohol in the venue: it ruins the experience for too many people (speaking from prior knowledge). Also, there must be staff that watches for drug and alcohol usage. This, in the end, may only allow for substance usage to become lower than most venues. In sum, then, the DIY Project may not be able to rid itself of all drugs and alcohol, but it can minimize the presence of such ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Baptism Debate Often held as a rite of passage and entrance into the Christian church, baptism is much more than just symbolic ritual. Baptism was commanded by Jesus Christ in the Great Commission recounted in the book of Matthew. Even though we are simplistically called to be obedient by being baptized the Christian church has long debated the aspects of this ordinance. Denominations are divided on the basic meaning, types and modes of baptism even two thousand years after the founding of the Christian church. Just as the other ordinance, the Lord s Supper, congregations find themselves at odd with tradition, biblical interpretation and even individual understanding. However, the simple message of this awe inspiring act can be explained out of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thereafter, infant baptism became the norm. (Hammett, 2005, pg 269) Three arguments are often used in support of infant baptism. The early church used the idea of household baptisms mentioned in the book of Acts to support that entire families were baptized for the acceptance of faith by the parents of the household. Other historians point to the Gospel encounter of children being brought to Jesus for blessing and for Him to pray over the children. The last support can be found in the need of an act of covenant being established as it once was in the Old Testament. In the time of Abraham young boys were circumcised as a sign of the convent. In the New Testament infant baptism was used as that sign. (Hammett, 2005 pg 269 270). Each of these were steeped further in tradition than biblical basis. The New Testament points more specifically to believers baptism rather than infant baptism. As stated earlier, baptism is a symbolic act of obedience representing a choice of salvation through Jesus Christ. It is unreasonable to think that an infant would be able to make such a choice by itself. The parallel of Abraham s covenant is also misapplied. Hammett points out, As circumcision was applied to Abraham s physical seed under the old covenant, so baptism is to be applied to Abraham s spiritual seed under the new covenant. But the spiritual seed of Abraham are thus of faith, which means that believers should be baptized, which, they would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Consequences Of Brexit Estimating the effects of Brexit To forecast the consequences of the UK leaving the EU, we must make assumptions about how trade costs change following Brexit. It is not known exactly how the UK s relations with the EU would change following Brexit, which means that there is a lack of clarity over the consequences of Brexit for trade costs between the UK and the EU. To overcome this difficulty, we analyse two scenarios: an optimistic scenario in which the increase in trade costs between the UK and the EU is small, and; a pessimistic scenario with a larger rise in trade costs. The optimistic scenario assumes that in a post Brexit world, the UK s trade relations with the EU are similar to those currently enjoyed by Norway. As a member of the European Economic Area (EEA), Norway has a free trade agreement with the EU, which means that there are no tariffs on trade between Norway and the EU. Trade can have positive effects through increasing competition, which reduces excess profits and promotes efficiency. Recent research finds that dynamic effects may double or triple the size of the static effects reported in Table 1 (Bloom et al, 2014; Sampson, 2016). An alternative way to evaluate the consequences of Brexit is to use the results of reducedform empirical studies of the effects of EU membership. Baier et al (2008) find that after controlling for other determinants of bilateral trade, EU members trade substantially more with other EU countries than they do with members of the EEA or EFTA. • 12. Improving HTTP Performance Using Stateless TCP Improving HTTP Performance Using Stateless TCP In this paper a server side approach is made which can reduce processing load per connection. The advantages of running web servers over a basic transport protocol that is similar to TCP are studied here. The stateless TCP for HTTP decreases the kernel resources required per TCP connection. So it increases the number of client initiated HTTP connections per second. Stateless TCP modifications decreases the server s CPU usage and other TCP memory requirements. This helps to serve small webpages under overloaded situations. Two Algorithms (David A Hayes, Improving http performance using stateless tcp, 2011) are mentioned that show the basic operation of stateless TCP, one for incoming packets and one for outgoing packets from server. These include few rules to react to incoming control packets and also information to deal with application data. Algorithm 1: incoming Every TCP packet is captured which arrives at port 80 and following operations are performed, 1. If it s a TCP SYN packet, send back a TCP SYN/ACK 2. • 13. The Gravitational Slingshot Essay The Gravitational Slingshot The gravitational slingshot is a way that scientists have truly harnessed the gravitational pull of a planet by using it to launch satellites and other useful projectiles towards their desired locations. This method was developed through the use of Newton s Laws of Gravity and Kepler s Laws of Planetary Motion. When these ideas of gravity and the shape of a planet s orbit were brought together piece by piece, this new theory changed how a projectile traveling through space could simply cross an orbital pattern, which would in turn change the path of the moving object. The change in the path accelerates the object at a higher rate and sends it speeding off in its proper direction. The gravitational ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kepler established the Laws of Planetary Motion. The first Law states that the orbit of every planet is an ellipse with the Sun at one of the two foci. The second law states that a line joining a planet and the Sun sweeps out equal areas during equal intervals of time. And the final Law tells that the square of the orbital period of a planet is directly proportional to the cube of the semi major axis of its orbit. Kepler s Laws also come into play with the use of the gravitational slingshot, because Kepler believed that the orbit that a planet takes around another body follows an elliptical pattern, instead of traveling in a perfect circle. Of course each planet has a specific elliptical orbit, just as humans have different fingerprints to identify them. Before launching their equipment into space, each planet must have its pattern identified to ensure accurate results for the launch. This knowledge helps scientists identify where the ellipses are in relation to the paths of orbit so that they can launch satellites in the proper direct, at the proper time, with the proper velocity. Combining both of these sets of theories together has lead the way to the effect we know as the gravitational slingshot effect. Today, the gravity assist effect is used extremely often by NASA and the Air Force. It is the most fuel efficient, naturally occurring booster in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. The Metabolic Rate Of An Organism Abstract: Metabolism is used to refer to all of the chemical reactions involving energy transformations in the cell of the body, for example cellular activity such as cellular respiration and its sub activtys like glycolysis, Krebs Cycle and the Electron Transport Chain all produce energy in the form of ATP and a byproduct of the energy production, heat is also produced . Although the cell is not 100% efficient thermodynamically, the energy in the form of heat is lost in the cell each time when energy is produced. Metabolic rates of an organism can be measured directly by the amount of heat lost from the body in a certain period of time. Another way an organisms metabolic rate can be measured is indirectly, by measuring the amount of oxygen that is consumed in a given period of time. In the experiment conducted, we needed to find the metabolic rate of an ectotherm. Using a goldfish (ectotherm) we calculated the metabolic rate by means of counting the number of operculum beats when three different goldfish where submerged in various temperatures. What was found is that the metabolic rate increased when the temperature increased and the metabolic rate decreased as temperature dropped. Introduction: Metabolism is a term in which defines all of the chemical reactions involving energy production. Some of these chemical reactions involve cellular respiration by which is the series of metabolic process by which living cells produce energy through the oxidation of organic ... In Columbian culture, society is hierarchical in which authority figures, mainly those involved in religion and justice, are considered to have a great deal of influence and responsibility towards the town they preside over. In Chronicle of a Death Foretold, written by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Marquez attacks this idea and suggests that these figures are superficial and unimportant. He does this mainly through the religious and judicial figures of the Bishop, priest, police officer and the colonel as authority figures that ignore their duties, thus making authority in the village in illusion. The self centeredness of the village is displayed through them attempting to gain personal benefits from the bishop. Moreover, the village s church looked like a trash heap (13). Marquez use of a simile linking the description of the church with a trash heap suggests that the townspeople have no respect for Catholicism. As the bishop hasn t been making any attempt to convey the Catholic ideals onto the village, the villagers have abandoned them, which thus has caused them to become selfish. This shows how corrupted authority figures can have negative impacts on the village. Another religious authority figure in the novel is the priest, Father Carmen Amador. Father Amador gets the opportunity to inform Placida Linero about her son s impending death, however he does not, and in doing so he s made to seem irresponsible and careless. The excuse he gives is that you have to understand that the bishop was coming on the unfortunate day (71). Much like the rest of the village, Father Amador is awaiting the bishop s arrival in the hope that the bishop will bring gifts to him. Throughout human history, individuals have been curious about life other than on planet Earth. The question that remains is if humanity is alone in the universe. This question is very important because after all, the universe is still expanding. In addition to the expansion of the universe, astronomers have discovered at least six potential habitable worlds in our own solar system (CITE). It is natural to wonder if other worlds might also have intelligent life and civilizations. Many claims have been made that we have already been visited by aliens in UFOs, however, while plenty of evidence has been offered for scientific examination so far none of it has been enough to convince us that the claims of visitations are real (Bennett, 260). However, this doesn t mean that there is no intelligent life beyond our home planet. Due to this, taxpayers should fund programs to begin the search for extra terrestrial life in the universe. The reason why there should be programs that fund the search for extra terrestrial life in the universe is because extra terrestrial life can help enhance our understanding of the universe. Where ever extra terrestrial beings are located in space they can enhance our understanding of the universe. This is because we are the newcomers in the universe and extra terrestrial beings can potentially be around since the time our universe was created, which was 14 billion years ago (Bennett,1 ). ... • 32. Northern vs. Southern American Colonies 1700s Essay By the 1700 s, The northern and souther colonies had evolved into two distinct societies. This is so because the northern and southern colonies had different environments and also different reasons of settlement. The North was established for mainly religious freedom, while on the other hand, the south had been established for economic freedom. The climate also affected the different turnout of the north and the south. The north was much colder and so their soil was not beneficial for farming, so the people of the north found other jobs, while on the other side, the south had rich soil and the colonists there used that idea to set up huge plantations and farms. The southern colonies have characteristics that are the opposites of the New England colony s attributes. The Southern Colonies were the Province of North Carolina, Province of South Carolina, Virginia and Province of Georgia. The Southern colonies were developed for freedom of economic opportunity.Their economy was supported by plantations, mostly run by slaves. • 33. Dna Sequencing Essay DNA Sequencing: Algorithms that Convert Physical to Digital EFFECTS: DNA sequencing, specifically with small nanopore sequencers, have the potential to advance medicine by increasing scientific knowledge of diseases and improving medical diagnosis in remote areas. The leading sequencer today is the MinION, which is an incredible 10x3x2cm and only requires a USB connection to a computer [5]. The MinION currently can sequence viral and bacterial genomes, but will expand to include full human genomes. The MinION s size and capabilities allow it to target the microscopic source of ailments outside of the laboratory and in a greatly reduced amount of time. Soon after its deployment in 2014, the MinION was used to sequence a salmonella ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A 100mV voltage is applied across the protein, which draws the DNA through the pore. When a DNA nucleotide is in the pore, a sensor records the change in current as an event [1]. This change in current is stored in a FAST5 file type, which stores metadata and the events [7]. The FAST5 data files then undergo base calling correlating one of the four nucleotides in DNA with each event in Amazon Cloud with a software called Metrichor or with offline open source software called Nanocall [7]. To reduce error rates, base calling algorithms are based off the Viterbi algorithm, which determines the most probable path based upon surrounding measurements. In the case of base calling, the surrounding 5 or 6 nucleotides are examined, 5 having 1024 combinations and 6 having 4096 combinations [9]. While using 6 nucleotides doubles the analysis time, it improves the accuracy of base calling [5]. After base calling, the all analyzed events are compiled into a single complete sequence. This sequence is then compared to sequences in databases such as What s in My Pot (WIMP) or 16S, which match the sequenced DNA to a specific species [8]. Because of the high speed of the input and base calling, usually species identification is done in real time [8]. c. • 37. No Love for Animals in Sea World Charles Darwin once said, the love for all living creatures is the most noble attribute of man. If only Darwin had been alive to witness the secrets of the well known marine mammal theme park known as SeaWorld, he would have been as appalled as many have been discovering these hidden secrets. One of the major issues with SeaWorld is animal captivity. It serves as a profitable way for people to see and enjoy wild animals, but through the captivity it can transform harmless animals into violent, agitated monsters in some cases. The defenseless animals, such as the killer whales at Seaworld, are deprived of their family, lives and freedom, which can lead to exceptional aggression. Many people that visit SeaWorld or know of the theme park believe that it is just a welcoming marina and a great place to take family to see wild animals and the remarkable shows that the killer whales present. Clearly many people do not realize the truth behind what SeaWorld is doing to these poor animals. For starters, captive marine animals are robbed of most everything that is natural to them such as living in a family pod and swimming up to a hundred miles each day. Obviously these necessities cannot be met within the small enclosures where the killer whales live. Another less known fact about SeaWorld is that it lowers animals life spans quite drastically. Orca whales live on an average of thirty to fifty years in the wild and some can live to ninety, but the average age for orcas in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Between 100B.C.E and 200 C.E the city grew rapidly, becoming one of the largest cities in Mesoamerica. From my perspective there are different factors that contributed to the growth of Teotihuacán, resources, neighbors, trade, religious matters, and economy. This paper will basically focus on the economy and how it was utilized to form this urban state of Teotihuacán, whether it be the effects of trade and tribute, goods and services, reciprocity, or corruption it all played a role in the uprising of this city. Teotihuacán was developed by different reason but I think that its economy had more influence on its growth and this may explain the development of Teotihuacán. ...
