Abstract chameleon chip
This invitation is for a seminar on Chameleon chips. Chameleon chips aim to increase computing power and reduce costs by allowing the chip's circuitry to be reconfigured for specific applications, unlike today's general purpose microprocessors which have circuitry that goes unused for any single application. Chameleon chips would work similarly to field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) which have a grid of wires and switches that can be opened or closed to program the chip's logic. The seminar will look at reconfigurable processor chips, their general architecture, how they can be reconfigured by a user, and how they compare to other technologies.

an ASIC allows earlier defect detection in the design process and thus allows a significant time saving. This paper deals with a CMOS standard-cell ASIC implementation of a SoC (System on Chip) based on the OpenRISC processor for Voice over IP (VoIP) application; where a hybrid approach is adopted. The
architecture of the design is mainly based on the reuse of IPs cores described at the RTL level. This RTL code is technology-independent; hence the design can be ported easily from FPGA to ASIC. Results show that the SoC occupied the area of 2.64mm². Regarding the power consumption, RTL power estimation is given.

Toward a Methodology to turn Smalltak code into FPGA
This document proposes a methodology to use Smalltalk for hardware/software co-design of FPGA applications. Smalltalk would be used as a high-level language to describe and test FPGA hardware designs. Critical parts of a Smalltalk robotic application are identified and projected onto an FPGA to gain performance. An experiment projects image processing from a camera onto an FPGA, achieving a processing time of 2.5ms compared to 73ms in Smalltalk. Future work includes developing the modeling methodology for hardware design using Smalltalk and integrating Pharo and FPGA interaction for software/hardware co-design.

An experiment projects image processing from a camera onto an FPGA, achieving a processing time of 2.5ms compared to 73ms in Smalltalk. Future work includes developing the modeling methodology for hardware design using Smalltalk and integrating Pharo and FPGA interaction for software/hardware co-design.
FPGA Overview

This paper proposes about motion estimation in H.264/AVC encoder. Compared with standards
such as MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 Visual, H.264 can deliver better image quality at the same
compressed bit rate or at a lower bit rate. The increase in compression efficiency comes at the
expense of increase in complexity, which is a fact that must be overcome. An efficient Co-design
methodology is required, where the encoder software application is highly optimized and
structured in a very modular and efficient manner, so as to allow its most complex and time
consuming operations to be offloaded to dedicated hardware accelerators. The Motion
Estimation algorithm is the most computationally intensive part of the encoder which is simulated using MATLAB. The hardware/software co-simulation is done using system generator tool and implemented using Xilinx FPGA Spartan 3E for different scanning methods.

Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
Building Production Ready Search Pipelines with Spark and Milvus
Spark is the widely used ETL tool for processing, indexing and ingesting data to serving stack for search. Milvus is the production-ready open-source vector database. In this talk we will show how to use Spark to process unstructured data to extract vector representations, and push the vectors to Milvus vector database for search serving.
