 “Organizational behavior is the study of the human aspects of organizations,
including individual behavior, group behavior, and their interaction with
organizational structure, culture, and processes; with the goal of improving
organizational effectiveness”
-Umstot (1984, P.5)-
 “OB involves with the understanding, prediction and control of human behavior
and the factors which influence the performance of people as members of an
organization”
- Luthans (1985 as in mullins,1989)-
 Organizational behavior is a field of that investigates the impact that individuals,
groups and structure have on behavior within organization for the purpose of
applying such knowledge towards improving and organization effectiveness.

 Origin of the OB is born with Hawthorne studies.
 Milestone in Hawthorne Experiment

 Cognitive approach emphasizes the positive and free wheel aspect of human

 According to the Bandura, He told that the behavior can best be explained in terms
of a continuous reciprocal interaction among,

OB provides a set of theories,
guidelines and tools that allow;
People to understand, analyze, and
describe behavior in organizations
Managers to change or improve
work behaviors so that individuals,
groups and the whole organization
can achieve their goals

Definition  “Organizational behavior is the study of the human aspects of organizations, including individual behavior, group behavior, and their interaction with organizational structure, culture, and processes; with the goal of improving organizational effectiveness” -Umstot (1984, P.5)-  “OB involves with the understanding, prediction and control of human behavior and the factors which influence the performance of people as members of an organization” - Luthans (1985 as in mullins,1989)-
  • 4.  Organizational behavior is a field of that investigates the impact that individuals, groups and structure have on behavior within organization for the purpose of applying such knowledge towards improving and organization effectiveness.
  • 5. Origin  Origin of the OB is born with Hawthorne studies.  Milestone in Hawthorne Experiment  illumination study  Relay Assembly Test Room  Interview process  Bank wiring room observation/study

  • 10. Cognitive Framework  Cognitive approach emphasizes the positive and free wheel aspect of human behavior. Such as,  Expectancy  Demand  Intention
  • 11. Social Learning Framework  According to the Bandura, He told that the behavior can best be explained in terms of a continuous reciprocal interaction among,  Cognitive  Behavioral  Environmental determinants. C B E

Importance of studying OB for a Manager OB provides a set of theories, guidelines and tools that allow; People to understand, analyze, and describe behavior in organizations Managers to change or improve work behaviors so that individuals, groups and the whole organization can achieve their goals
