Biodiversity and its Conservation methodsNishat Fatima
Biodiversity describes the richness and variety of life on earth. It is the most complex and important feature of our planet. Without biodiversity, life would not sustain.
Biodiversity holds ecological and economic significance. It provides us with nourishment, housing, fuel, clothing and several other resources. It also extracts monetary benefits through tourism. Therefore, it is very important to have a good knowledge of biodiversity for a sustainable livelihood.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

naturally without human aid and has
been left undisturbed by human for a
long time. It is also called Virgin
vegetation.

8. Biodiversity in India
• India is one of the
twelve mega
biodiversity countries
of the world.
• It has over 47,000 plant
species (flora) and
• 89,000 species of
animals (fauna)
Key Term
Biodiversity:
the variety of plant and animal life in
the world or in a particular habitat, a
high level of which is usually
considered to be important and
desirable.
9. PROGRESS CHECK
• Here are some pictures.
• Look at them carefully.
• If you think they are examples of natural
vegetation stand up.
20. Wild Life
• more than 89,000- animals species
• 1200- Birds ( 13% of the world’s total )
• 25,000- fish (12% of world’s stock )
• 5 & 8% of amphibians, retiles and mammals.
22. There are also
• Edible plants and crops
• Medicinal plants
• Milch animals which provide milk, meat, egg
and transprotation
• Insect which help in pollination of crops and
fruit trees
23. • Ecosystem- every species plays role in it
• Ecosystem disturbed- excessive exploitation of
plants and animals
• Result:-
• 1,300 endangered plants species
• 20 extinct species
24. Main causes for threat to nature are:-
• Hunting
• Pollution
• Introduction of alien species
• Deforestation
28. 89 National Parks, 49 Wildlife sanctuaries
and Zoological gardens are set up to take
care of Natural heritage.
29. Measure to conserve natural
vegetation and wildlife
1. Check on deforestetion
2. Encourage Aforestation
3. Should keep area pollution free
4. Should not kill animals
5. Minimize the use of plastics

QUENCHING YOUR THIRST AS YOU JOPURNEY ON.
