Wireless networks are accessible to anyone within the router’s transmission radius. This makes them vulnerable to attacks. Hotspots are available in public places such as airports, restaurants, parks, etc.
In this module, we will introduce you to common techniques used to exploit weaknesses in wireless network security implementations. We will also look at some of the countermeasures you can put in place to protect against such attacks.
Verilog Based Design and Simulation of MAC and PHY Layers for Zigbee Digital ...IJERA Editor
The past several years have witnessed a rapid development in the wireless network area. So far wireless networking has been focused on high-speed and long range applications. Zigbee technology was developed for a Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPAN), aimed at control and military applications with low data rate and low power consumption. Zigbee is a standard defines the set of communication protocols for low-data-rate short-range wireless networking. Zigbee-based wireless devices operate in 868 MHz, 915 MHz, and 2.4 GHz frequency bands. The maximum data rate is 250K bits per second. Zigbee is mainly for battery-powered applications where low data rate, low cost, and long battery life are main requirements. This paper explores Verilog design for various blocks in Zigbee Transmitter architecture for an acknowledgement frame. The word digital has made a dramatic impact on our society. Developments of digital solutions have been possible due to good digital system design and modeling techniques. Further developments have been made and introduced VLSI in order to reduce size of the architecture, to improve speed of operation, improvements in predictability of the circuit behavior. Digital Zigbee Transmitter comprises of Cyclic Redundancy Check, Bit-to-Symbol block, Symbol-to-chip block, Modulator and Pulse shaping block. The work here is to show how we can design Zigbee transmitter with its specifications by using Verilog with less number of slices and Look up tables (LUTs).
Zigbee Based Wireless Sensor Networks for Smart CampusIJMER
A network which connects a bunch of distributed low-power sensor nodes together, with each node dedicated to a predefined operation can be visualized as a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN).
Wide range of PLC technologies are used in multiple applications, varying from simple internet access to complex home automation. This paper represents an overview of installing, evaluating and testing the PLC adapters in a small environment, which consist of three story house and basement using a DevalodLAN power line adapter. In addition, measuring the speed of the PLAs in different floors and in different distances away from the router.
Very few devices are currently installed in
substations without some form of communications connection.
There is a clear trend toward establishing data connectivity via
Ethernet due to generally higher data rates, and cost effective
connections. Whether an application is for Supervisory Control
and Data Acquisition (SCADA), line relaying, remote
engineering access or Synchrophasors, the Intelligent Electronic
Device (IED) is manufactured featuring a variety of
communication ports including RS-232, RS-485, Ethernet, and
fiber that are connected to, and communicating with at least one
other remote device. Protection engineers typically have a
limited role in communication applications, thus they may not
have a full understanding of a communication networks’
capabilities.
This paper is intended to improve the understanding of the
commonly used forms of communication connections used at a
substation. This paper discusses many communication services
found within a substation.. Each area within itself is worthy of a
text books’ worth of attention. The locus of this document is to
extract highlights of each circuit or application type as pertinent
to a protection engineer for the purpose of gaining a better
understanding of the type of circuit and some of the key roles the
application has in a substation environment.
Basic network design considerations and technologies will also be
reviewed to ensure the network is able to support the
performance criteria imposed by the circuit type. Additionally,
this paper provides design considerations for the different forms
of connections mentioned above. Lastly, it this paper provides
guidance on how these circuit types are applied in substation
applications.
After reviewing this paper or attending the presentation, the
relay engineer will have a broader understanding of the different
circuit types, how they are used, understand the cost and benefits
unique to each circuit type, and be able to communicate those
needs effectively with a Telecom or Information Technology
professional.
This paper presents a comparative study of IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless LAN standards in an ELearning classroom network using adhoc networks as communication support. The evaluation is performed through a series of scenarios schematizing communication between students and practitioners in an educational context. The first objective is to plan the physical layer via the choice of the suitable transmission standard that satisfy the implementation specifications. Given the real-time traffic considered, a good traffic transmission must be ensured.
A Study on Access Point Selection Algorithms in Wireless Mesh NetworksEswar Publications
In IEEE 802.11 based wireless mesh network (WMN), a mesh client often finds multiple access points (AP) to associate with. How to select the best AP is the open research problem. The traditional AP selection method defined by IEEE 802.11 standard is based on received signal strength. This method is proven inefficient as it does not consider many important factors such as channel conditions, AP load, etc. Many alternate solutions have been proposed so far in the literature, but they are all focused on wireless local area network (WLAN) environment. As there are significant differences between WLAN and WMN, all these proposed association mechanisms must be redesigned to fit into WMN environment. This paper studies the AP selection problem in the context of WMN. We critically analyze the existing work and identify technical challenges involved in AP selection problem. This paper also provides directions to design the metrics of AP selection method in WMN.

Experimental analysis of channel interference in ad hoc networkijcsa
In recent times, the use of ad hoc networks is a common research area among a researcher. Designing an
efficient and reliable network is not easy task. Network engineer faces many problems at the time of
deploying a network such as interference; Signal coverage, proper location of access point etc. channel
interference in one of them which must be considered at the time of deploying WLAN indoor environments
because channel interference impacts the network throughput and degrade the network performance.
In this experiment, we design a two WLAN BSS1 and BSS2 and investigate the impact of interference on
nodes. BSS1 contains three FTP clients and BSS2 contains two FTP client and their jobs is to upload data
to FTP Server Initially, they are far from each other. BSS1 moves toward BSS2 and after some time at
particular position both BSSs overlaps to each other. When BSSs overlaps to each other interference is
high and decrease network performance and increase upload time.
WLAN definition
WLAN is the abbreviation of Wireless Local Area Network, which refers to the application of wireless communication technology to interconnect computer equipment to form a network system that can communicate with each other and realize resource sharing.
A Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) wireless LAN is a wireless computer network that links two or more devices using wireless communication to form a local area network within a limited area such as a home, school, computer laboratory, campus, or office building.
The essential feature of a wireless local area network (WLAN) is that it no longer uses a communication cable to connect the computer to the network, but connects it wirelessly, which makes the construction of the network and the movement of the terminal more flexible.
It is a very convenient data transmission system. It uses radiofrequency (RF) technology and uses electromagnetic waves to replace the old-style twisted-pair copper wire (Coaxial) in the local area network. It communicates in the air and makes a wireless local area network. It can be easily used.

Low power architecture of logic gates using adiabatic techniquesnooriasukmaningtyas
The growing significance of portable systems to limit power consumption in ultra-large-scale-integration chips of very high density, has recently led to rapid and inventive progresses in low-power design. The most effective technique is adiabatic logic circuit design in energy-efficient hardware. This paper presents two adiabatic approaches for the design of low power circuits, modified positive feedback adiabatic logic (modified PFAL) and the other is direct current diode based positive feedback adiabatic logic (DC-DB PFAL). Logic gates are the preliminary components in any digital circuit design. By improving the performance of basic gates, one can improvise the whole system performance. In this paper proposed circuit design of the low power architecture of OR/NOR, AND/NAND, and XOR/XNOR gates are presented using the said approaches and their results are analyzed for powerdissipation, delay, power-delay-product and rise time and compared with the other adiabatic techniques along with the conventional complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) designs reported in the literature. It has been found that the designs with DC-DB PFAL technique outperform with the percentage improvement of 65% for NOR gate and 7% for NAND gate and 34% for XNOR gate over the modified PFAL techniques at 10 MHz respectively.
